The show's about to begin.
(OOC: Life has been distracting for the past two months, gonna give this another go if anyone's still interested.)
[X] Sneak out and talk tankery with Emilia, what Lucille and Gisèle are doing seems important and has been delayed long enough: and as Miss Lucille said, maybe nothing happens today.

Part of you wants to spring from hiding and shake your friend until you get answers to the burning questions in your head, to finally figure out what is with all the weird shit that has been going on today.

But you hold yourself back, pushing the gnawing curiosity deep down as you start to slink away. Whatever has her spooked was sufficient to get her to go out of her way and bless the Rotorcraft team's ammo too. And you don't want to interrupt her mid ritual.

After all, Lucille has to have good reason not to tell you right?

You managed to sneak back into the tankery club car unnoticed by the two sisters. The rest of the team seems to be in good spirits all things considered. Today's match favors your team after all, as the limit of Ten tanks per team means the Coconut Coral team can't swarm your team. Victory seems fairly sure, though Emilia does remind everyone that it's not a sure thing: Tankery history is littered with underdog teams pulling victory from the jaws of certain defeat.

You spend most of the time with Emilia, listening half heartily to her geek out about the new Schwarzkopf tanks being used by the military nowadays. You haven't really paid much attention to modern tanks in circulation before, so you're not really able to follow her comparison between them and their foreign counterpart tanks.

All too soon the train arrives, and the club becomes a flurry of activity as they get their tanks unloaded and prepare themselves for the match ahead. For your part it's mostly getting changed into the tankery uniform and braid your hair to bring it in close: your hair is short but getting it caught in the Stroboscopic cupola would be disastrous.

It's not long till you're in the spinning cupola as the club moves to the Rendezvous point. You have to admit the feature can be quite nice: all the benefits of an unbuttoned tank with most of the benefits of being inside of a tank. Getting the breeze certainly helps on this sunny day in early May day, with the flag designating your tank as the flag tank for todays match.

By noon the teams are in position at the rendezvous point, and you are standing behind Emilia as she meets with the referee Camila del Rodríguez, the Cuban still looking as adorable as her dossier picture. You can tell she might have a lot riding on today match, as the kids eyes are full of determination.

But glancing at her line up, it appears she might not be as inexperienced as you first thought. Nine of them are the expected M24 Chaffee's, one of which carries their flag, but the tenth is an M37. That howitzer might just disrupt the plans you guys had.

"Ladies, play well and remember to have fun!" the referee says loudly as Camila and Emillia shake hands.

"Good luck today," your club commandeer says cheerfully to the cute sophomore, who replies in kind.

With a wave to opposing team, you return to your landship of a tank and start heading to the starting point on the west side of the course; your thoughts focused not on the weird shit of the morning, but about the match as you have a conversation with Emillia about the plan.

It's not long before everyone's tank is in position and the signal to begin is given.

[X] Aggressive: you've got to get into the fight before they can bring that howitzer down on you.

"Alright team," you hear Emilia announce over the Command channel, "Lets hit them hard and fast, we don't want to give'em an easy target for that M37 of their's: team Bananas and Beignet will take point, everyone else fall into staggered column formation with Gris-Gris and Huckabuck in the rear and team... Fairy Tails in the center."

You inwardly cringe in sympathy with your commanders orders and switch to internal comms.

"You heard her ladies, lets get this fight going: Lola take us forward, Lilly keep your eyes peeled, Chaya keep your head on a swivel and call out anyone trying to sneak up on us. Everyone else just stay loose but aware, just because these Boar girls have smaller tanks doesn't mean we can afford to let them catch us with our pants down."

The tanks of Bienville advance at full speed... or at least the full speed of team Fairy Tails and Gris-Gris, a leisurely 15 km/h. A very sedate pace that only a few other tanks you've encountered would consider fast; but one you're normally fine with as usually you don't feel the need to rush anywhere thanks to your laid back attitude. It's armor and your luck has seen you through plenty of sticky situations.

But today... today you're a bit on edge and find yourself wishing you could get a little more speed from the Char-2C's two Maybach engines. Deep down... deep down you've got a gut feeling something big is going to go down today, and part of you wants this match over as fast as possible with as many tanks intact.

And if you had more speed, maybe your team could've reached the town first.

"Contact!" You're shaken from your thinking by a cry from the commander of Bananas Foster, "Ahead front, 1 O'clock by tha gas station!"

Glancing in that direction you see the form of one of the opposing Chaffees with its barrel sticking out from between two old fashioned gas pumps. And then the earth to your left explodes into a fountain of dirt as a shell lands close; seems they've already got that howitzer into place.

"Lilly blow that sneak up!" You shout to your gunner, your turret turning to aim along with half of the tanks along the column. You brace as your 75mm field gun joins the 90's and other 75's in a roar of violence, with shells exploding down range and turning the dummy convenience store into a gutted ruin. Unfortunately the shots missed both the light tank and any potentially pyrotechnical gas tanks, leaving the light tank a chance to get a shot off and withdraw. You hear the shell smash into the armor of Emilia's easy eight, the round managing to get a golden hit against her turret ring; disabling the command tank in one blow with the incap flag popping up.

You see Emilia opening the hatch to let out smoke and wave at you to let you know she's alright, as team Gumbo lines up a shot and manages to tag the Chaffee as it was trying to withdraw. The 90mm shell punch's the light tank to the side, sending it skidding before coming to a stop; it's Incap flag waving. 1 for 1 so far... a score which isn't that great all things considered.

"Emilia's tank is down, I'm assuming command!" you shout into the microphone while trying to figure out what to do next. They're already in the town, which would put your larger tanks at a disadvantage, not to mention that M37 is going to be a pain to deal with now.

[X] Write in: Smash thru the weak buildings with your tanks, in one whole group, straight towards the agreed upon site for a defensive formation. Right tanks have their guns aimed right, left tanks have their guns aimed left, front tanks aimed at front and rear tanks aimed at rear.

[X] You've got High Exposive shells and the towns built to be demolished: why not circle and shell it? See if that can't smoke them out.

You're not quite sure what makes you think this is a good idea, but very explosive plan forms in your head.

"All tanks start heading south, we're going to circle around and shell the town a bit. We'll see if that'll smoke them out."

You do get some minor protests from the other tank commanders, but they fall in line; protecting the flank of your Char as your cannon starts flinging shells into the fake town.

The battle lasts 45 minutes as you circle the town, shattering the plywood structures with your field gun. The rest of your team guards the flanks, occasionally stopping to fire upon some of the Chaffees that pop out of hiding every now and then when you blow up their cover. All the while trying to dodge the retaliation of that self propelled gun, which your team mates don't always get lucky: Beignet and Huckabuck got disabled by that howitzer while Foster got taken out by a Chaffee getting a shot off.

You manage to disable seven of the little tanks when it happens, and in the middle of flushing out the eighth from the east side of the town when it happens. You hear Taylor from team Doberge Cake, the remaining tank on your outside flank, call out something you've dreading as a possibility.

"Contacts left!"

Twisting around you see two tanks in the tall grass: Camilia's flag tank and the M37... with it's howitzer pointed right at your side armor.

You don't even get to call out an order to turn the turret around when the self propelled gun flashes, and the Char 2C shutters as it takes the round square into it's side armor. Given the tanks design, it's engine compartment did have the same carbon lining as the fighting compartments, but the official sensors could detect a hit that would have penetrated and destroyed the engines. Your mighty land ship comes to a halt as smoke bombs in the engine compartment goes off, the engines shutting off to simulate a direct hit, and the Fairy Tails incapacitated flag popping up on your turrets.

You slump into your elevated chair as the stroboscopic cupola spins down without power.

"Damnit," you hear your loader Elsie swear, "we just lost didn't we?"

You can hear similar grumblings and swearing echoing throughout the tank as the rest of your crew comes to terms with what just happened.

[_] What do?(Write-in, post game behavior, etc).

[X] Give a brief congratulations to the opposing team, and then spend the rest of the day getting the tanks moving under their own power again, loaded for war. Your psychic abilities are still ringing an alarm bell even at this point in time, and you want everyone inside tanks when the danger happens.

Aftermath pt 1.
[X]Congratulate the opposing team. Got to take the loss with grace at being outplayed

You will admit that loosing always carries a sting to it, but you don't take it too personally to be upset. Tankery is important to you, but you're not so uptight about it like you've seen from other schools.

You climb down from your seat, following a somewhat despondent looking Lilly and Elsie down the ladder for the turret. The hatches are already open, and the Machine gunners have already bailed out, while Deanna and Alice are at waving towels to blow smoke from the the engine compartment. The swearing you hear from the engine compartment tells you that Lauren is deeper into the tank trying to get the engines cleared of smoke residue.

You pass the two electricians and through the engine compartment, finding the blonde standing there with a soot stained face and a rag in hand as she fiddles with the right engine. And of course she's swearing all the while.

"You kiss Brad with that mouth?" you ask to get her attention.

"I do," she replies nonchalantly, finishing her work before stepping to the side and looking at you with a grin, "and a couple of other things."

You just roll your eyes while passing her into the rear fighting compartment.

Lola is next to Hailey, and you can hear her calling into the radio. From the sound of it she's on the referee-net, probably asking for officials to reset the lock down.

The elder red head on your crew notices you and gives a weak smile.

"Recovery teams have already picked up King Cake, Beignet, and Huckabuck, but Foster has a wait ahead: the Officials are having the recovery teams bring in targets for the Rotorcraft match."

You do have to suppress a little bit of a shutter, Rotorcraft targets are light vehicles and tanks, usually disposable replicas but it's not unheard of for retired tanks to be used.

"I hear ya," you say before waiting a few seconds for Hailey's conversation to reach a pause, "Hailey, can you tell the rest of the team to start heading back to the station?"

"Of course Eve," she says, her voice tinged with sadness, you do have to admit that loosing her second match would probably sting more than to a veteran like you.

You step closer and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry about loosing this match kid, it was just bad vibrations today, next time we'll kick their ass for sure."

She smiles and nods, but her radio crackling pulls her attention away before she could reply.

You finally make your way out of the hot tank and into the warm & muggy Florida air. Looking about you can see that the other tanks of your are already heading back to the station, while there's commotion in the fake town you partially demolished as official engineering vehicles and transports busily work on getting the course set up for the Rotorcraft teams.

Closer to you though are the two light tanks that brought your teams defeat; your machine gunners looking over the M37 with Lilly and Elsie both supervising your younger team mates and chatting with the self propelled gun crew. The Boar's flag tank crew are also dismounted, most of them watching the discussion.

Camilia seems to have noticed you emerging from your tank, and practically skips over to you. Part of you wants to be annoyed, but her adorable face make it hard to do so, especially as she skids to a stop in front of you. The kid quickly schooling her obvious giddy face to try being serious, giving you a salute before extending her hand. You can't help but wonder who taught her to salute like that, perhaps she's from a military family?

"It was an honor to fight against your team ma'am," she says entirely seriously as you casually grab her hand and give her a decent handshake in return.

"No need to be so serious Camilia," you say waving her off, "and I'm just the vice commander, Emilia's the one you'd want to talk to; she's the real brains behind our team."

She looks a bit puzzled.

"I thought you were the student council president of Bienville, wouldn't you be the Commander too?"

Now you're the one confused.

"...Are you the president of Coconut Coral?"

She shakes her head.

"I'm not, but my brother Thomas is and he's the Commander of the Rotorcraft club; and he's told me that a lot of times the Commander of the Tankery or Rotorcraft teams would be student council president."

You can't say she's entirely wrong given who was the previous president of Bienville, but before you can continue this line of conversation you hear the engines of the Char 2C roar to life.

"I see your tank is operational again, perhaps we should continue over lunch?"

You give a noncommittal nod before calling out to the rest of the Fairy Tails to head back to the tank. There's some grumbling, but there'll be plenty of time to chat about tanks at the station over Gumbo. The drive back is as pleasant as one can get in an un air conditioned tank in a Florida May, but it's something your girls are used to after all.

Naturally given your tanks speed, it's the last to arrive. As you emerge from your landship behind the rest of your crew, you can see the tables set out by the cooking clubs in the eating area. They're filled with the Tankery girls and Rotorcraft boys from both schools mingling and eating together. You can see Emilia sitting with her team, Francis and his fellow rotorjocks at another, and Camilia hugging an older boy in a Coral Coconut flight suit who definitely has a familial resemblance to the Tankery Captain.

The smell of gumbo in the air is enough to make you temporarily forget some of the troubles of the day, leaving you only to wonder where you're going to spend your lunch.

[_] Who do you spend lunch with?
