You know we should probably keep any haste spells away from Ruby considering her semblance and hyperactive state. Unless we want shenanigans to occur on first couple of usages or so.

Absolutely terrifying, especially when she bounces off Penny.

Roman will hate his life at that point. :V

Name: Ruby Rose
Age: 14
Looks like we're starting off a year or so before RWBY's plot kicks off. Unless this is a goof.

Semblance: Speed: Agility starts at A Rank.
Shouldn't this be a temporary speed buff? After all, it's not like she has her Semblance on all the time (unlike a certain someone she looks up to).

Student of The Crow: Without the teachings of her Uncle Qrow, Ruby would not be where she is today, as such she takes cues from his fighting style. + 40% to Scythe Projects. + 5% to learning Entropy Magic. Minor Resistance to Poison.
Oh, the irony!

  • Silver Eyed Warrior [Dormant]: Ruby thinks her and her mom just have pretty eyes, but those who know the secret histories of the world know better. + 10% to learning Holy Magic.
Ooh, nice, but I think there's a mistake here. Holy is a specific spell in KH (and FF). You're probably thinking of Light Magic.

Also, text is the wrong color.

Lately, I've been having these… Weird thoughts…

… Every life is like a story… You just need to fight for your Happy Ending…

Feeling my red cloak flutter around me, made me lazily open my eyes to see that I'm falling through an ocean of Darkness.

I think… I'm supposed to be scared, but… This place… It feels like Uncle Qrow… And as long as I have him and mom with me… I can do anything… Besides, this has gotta be a dream… Does this mean something cool's at the bottom?

Flipping myself into a standing position, I land on all fours before getting to my feet and looking around.

Aw, I expected something more to be down here. Maybe the cool stuff's further in. Trying to step forward, the ground burst into light, causing me to shield my eyes as a flock of Doves fly off into the horizon.

Oh wow! Looking down, I couldn't help letting out a gasp as I saw that I was standing on a really pretty stained glass platform.

The outside was the same colour as my cloak with the rim covered with my Hunting Sigil. I stood in the middle with my baby, Crescent Rose lying across both of shoulders as I stood under the shattered moon. Faces of people I know are scattered around my head;

Yang, with her devil-may-care grin.

Dad, with his somber, nostalgic smile that's only just started to reach his eyes again.

Uncle Qrow, taking another long pull from his flask, eyes overcast like usual by too many emotions to properly decipher.

Mom, Crying with a sad smile as she left us for the last time, I wonder if she knew?

But the strangest thing about the picture was that my eyes were emitting an odd silvery-white fire in the shape of wings.

Before I could enjoy it anymore though, a strange voice echoed in my head.

`Every story must begin with a single step, it is time for you to take yours and begin your own tale.`

Eager to agree with the voice, I hurried forward. I've always liked to imagine that all Remnant needed was someone willing to push for that Happy ending.

As I did though, the station shook and three plinths rose up around me.

Straight ahead was a Spear whose dark red shaft looked like a bunch of solid vines had been braided together so tight that it was unbendable. Its head looking like a crimson bird in-flight with its talon wrapped in the braid like a banner.

The Power of The Dragoon. Boundless Energy, A Spear that will leave everything behind.

To my left, a rifle beautifully carved from dark red wood, the whole gun etched with vine decals as if it was curling from the butt of the gun all the way to mouth, giving the weapon an antique look.

The Power of The Ranger. Peerless Sight. A Gun that can ignore all it sees.

Finally, to my right was a hand-sickle, the dark red vines that make up the handle having knots to place your fingers for a better grip and the bright red blade looking almost like solid blood spurting out of the vines.

The Power of The Assassin. Ruthless Skill. A Blade that will cut down anything in its path.

After I'd examined them all, the voice returned.

`All stories must follow a path, yet to take one is to miss another. Of the three laid before you, which will you walk and which will you forsake?`

Gaping at the voice, I pout. "What do you mean?! Ohhh, I hate it when people talk in riddles. Uncle Qrow does it all the time and it drives me crazy!"

Hearing no reply, I sigh. Ok Ruby, just think, you're not stupid. It's obvious I'm supposed to pick one of these masterpieces, but what did it mean, which will you forsake? If I take one of them… aren't I forsaking both of the others? But that doesn't sound like what it was asking. Unless… its not asking which one I'll leave behind, but which one I outright reject? Oh jeez, who could reject any of these beauties?

Well… I suppose I have to choose, don't I?

GM Notes: Surprise! We're not using the Sword/Staff/Shield Trinity, this is why I didn't put the weapon choice in the last update. It's because my headcanon is that each unique person has their own Dream Trinity.

As for why I didn't have a Scythe, it's because I knew people would immediately jump for that, so I divided Crescent Rose into three components and made you choose between them.

If people want to know what the other four picked, just ask.

Oh, I'd love to hear what they went with (and what they were choosing from in the first place, for that matter).

That said, one thing before I vote; I really think this update should have been in third person because, frankly, it didn't feel like what Ruby would say or how she would describe things, at least, aside from her working out what the Voice meant.

[X] [Take] Spear
[X] [Reject] Sickle

While, in terms of pure weapons, I would like to take the sickle on account of it being the closest thing to a scythe available, the descriptions make me think this is more fitting character-wise.

Also, one more thing;

You need to fix your bracket.

That's because the dream has an almost... numbing effect, so she's not operating at 100%.

Is there anyone in specific you'd like to hear about first?

What's a Tekko and why . . . any of those weapons
A Tekko is, essentiality a japanese knuckle duster, Chakrams are what Vernal used and I needed a greek ranged weapon that wasn't a bow.

As for Oscar, all I can say is they all represent a point in the Oz Cycle.

[X] [Take] Sickle
[X] [Reject] Spear

I feel that the Assassin title attributed to the Sickle is a bit of a misnomer, and it gives the reader a knee jerk reaction to reject it due to the edgy connotations. However, it appears to be the weapon of Skill and Melee. That's...probably not something we want to just discard out of hand, either as Ruby or a Keyblade wielder.

Meanwhile the Spear is Energy and Movement, and the Rifle is Range and Sight. If the Rifle was just Ranged I might be inclined to reject it, since being a sniper isn't as big of a part of her canon fighting style as Blitzing or Murder-blendering. However, the additional keyword of Sight tips the scales, being Perceptive is also rather important. Not to mention that it might also affect Magic casting.

Which leaves the Spear, and while Movement is certainly an important part of Ruby's style as well (it's her Semblance after all), the fact that she'll still have her Semblance even without this, and she's already starting at A rank Agility means that I feel fine with not doubling down on it.

Yang went; +Tekko/=Chakram/-Sling

Oscar went: +Dagger/=Sceptre/-Zweihander
And the others? I would've thought that Nora would have Hammer, Grenade Launcher, and something else, but since you didn't give Yang a shotgun option I'm not so sure anymore.

And I would've thought the Dagger would definitely be one of Ren's choices, so if it went to Oscar instead I don't know what he would have. A Jian?

It was actually really hard to come up with a title for Sickle until I remembered the mythos linking the Sickle to the Greek Titan Kronos where he virtually assassinated his father Oureanos.

As for the other two;

Nora went; +Kanabo/=Grenades/-Flail

Ren went; +Jian/=Jitte/-Bow

Now, you have to understand why Ren rejected the Bow, he wanted to put his father to rest finally, by rejecting the bow, he was finally able to make peace with his father's death. Yet, by taking the Jian, he's honouring his father's last gift without letting it define him.

What were the differences between the Kanabo and the Flail that would've led to Nora taking one and rejecting the other?

And his father's last gift was the dagger rather than a Jian, hence my confusion about why it was given to Oscar instead.

The flail was portrayed as a shepherd's herding tool, Nora would never go for that.

Oscar needed a culture-neutral schemers tool, hence the dagger and I also never intended to offer Ren a straight up dagger because of the connotations it has in general folklore.

Edit: Changed my mind on my vote and abstained for a bit because I honestly don't know what to choose here.
Edit2: Maybe I should just decide based on the aesthetic descriptions that I like here the best.
Edit3: Alright the asthetic description here that I like the most is the spear so going with that then and the rifle one is kinda eh, to me so gonna be rejecting that one.

Nope. Take another look at the description.

The Power of The Assassin. Ruthless Skill. A Blade that will cut down anything in its path.
This sounds a lot like "a sword of terrible destruction", and while that's just flavor-text in the actual games, in a Quest like this there's a very real chance that it has more meaning, if only for what it says about the person choosing which weapon to take and which to give up.

Personally, I would like to think that Ruby would catch that last part and consider that "anything in its path" might include things she does not want to harm.
