[X] a onii-san with white hair and red eyes, a choker around his neck, you met him over the summer a year before at an island around Japan.
"What's your name onii-san?" You asked.
"None of your business brat." He hissed back as he sat on a bench, setting down his crutch.
"His name's Accelerator says Misaka as Misaka says! And I'm Last Order, onii-chan! says Misaka as Misaka says!" The little girl with him shouted excitedly.
"Strange name Accelerator-nii. I'm Honoka." You giggle
"Shitty brat, at least I don't got a girl's name." He bites out.
He was pretty mean at first but was a lot nicer to you when he tasted your coffee after you told him it wasn't good to drink canned coffee as it wasn't as good as the real deal.
After that he was more...amicable? Yeah, you guess so. That's what your new imouto figure, (God forbid your actually sister hears that) Last Order said. Unfortunately making friends with Accelerator-nii and Order-nee got you in trouble and you were poisoned a year later after leaving the island of Academy City. By who you never found out but what you did know was that it was untreatable- at least by anyone on the main land. So you were quickly shipped to Academy City...unfortunately your mother didn't have enough money to pay, the treatment was expensive and even if your onii-chan was the Accelerator himself, it wasn't going to help.
And so they came up with a plan. They'd treat you, but after the treatment you were to be admitted to Academy City's Power Curriculum Program to see if you could attain your own personal reality, and gain Esper powers.
Once you had learned this after the treatment, you'd been excited. You wanted to be just like your onii-chan and imouto!
Once physical therapy was done, you had rushed to your onii-chan and told him all about it...and much to your shock, he stared at you horrified.
"Onii-chan?" You whisper reaching for him.
He pulled away for a second before sighing, looking almost resigned and saying "Don't trust them. That is my only request. Don't trust those scientists." And with that he picked up his crutch and left.
You didn't understand what he meant but many harmless experiment's later, you had registered as a level two Esper! You had your own unique ability too! It was called...

Invisibility, holographic copies, and LASERS just off the top of my head appeal to me a great deal
Oh, hard light barriers too! Not sure if we could use our powers for some sort of high-speed movement ala Kizaru from One Piece, but it's still very cool.

Oh yay Witch Craft Works. I never read the manga but I thought the anime was pretty decent.
Plus it's the only series I can think of where the main heroine is significantly taller than the protagonist.
