Well, like you said, it's not something we'll just "find," so I figure we might as well just stick to the original plan of learning music. Well, not exactly. It depends on what you want to do. A critical failure of a lie will significantly damage your relation with her; if it's bad enough she might even find out anyways. Refusing, meanwhile, is just outright choosing to piss her off.
So it's something like
1) Tell Her: Give away Halacha to Tatala (though this does not suggest Tatala will tell anyone else)
2) Lie: A chance of it going either very well or a total disaster or somewhere in between
3) Refusal: Not leaving it to chance at the cost of relations with Tatala

I mean it also doesn't suggest she won't tell anyone else.
Even if we're just flipping a coin as to whether she's going to tell or not tell, that's still an additional point of failure that could easily lead to our teacher getting killed- Which, I would assume, would end up causing some significant strain in our relationship with Tatala.

That could happen, yes. It's Vashti, though, so don't expect some ironclad brilliant religious thing.
It is true it doesn't she won't, yes.
Although depending on how the admission happens, it might tighten your relationship with her. The deacon has a habit of making people see past differences.

Does the sun not rise in the East and set in the west here? Unless you need to find a very specific degree? Even then, if you're in a single place you should have most directions mapped to landmarks just as a matter of convenience.
