TPK

Hello, friend.
It's not much of a secret lair.

With the small trophy case sitting by in the corner, your costume rack, and a secure computer don't leave much room for space to move. It's the most you can manage right now, though, is your basement.

You sit down at the computer and turn it on, then peruse through the data files on it. Fellow heroes, villains, it's all a mess of conflicting origin stories and fantastic powers. If half of the press releases aren't outright lies you'll eat your . . .

You'll eat something that isn't normally edible. You think better when it isn't Friday, but at least you have the weekend off. A nine to five job- the things you do for a secret identity.

How extensive are your files?
[] Publically available data.
[] . . . And a little gossip.
[] . . . And your mentor's files.

How are you planning on making your debut?
[] Taking on the Second Street Souljas. Thugs with guns, but ground level is your habitat.
[] Eliminating the rampant killbots at the source. Fighting steel monsters is tricky, but doable.
[] Foiling the Stacked Deck. They're in your city, and no supervillain alliance is welcome here.
[] Driving off the current alien invasion. Leave the small fry for the small players.

Street level is best level.

What type of setting is this? We talking lighthearted Golden/Silver Age style, dark and gritty, realistic, what?

Please post a link to the Quest in the Index after it has been made. A summary would be nice but entirely optional. Also, what genre would you call your Quest?

I like legacy hero's.

I don't like the alien invasion one as that seems a little condescending.

This probably gives us the biggest range. We're still local enough that we can go deal with small scale everyday threats, but we're also a big enough power that we can take some part in those end of the world meet-ups. We're relevant without dominating the stage entirely.

Legacy is fun since it creates a lot of plot hooks to work from.

This isn't going to be 90s grimdark, but there are horrible people in the world. Some of them have superpowers, and while most villains are in it to make a buck, settle a score, or to have fun fucking around with world governments, there are the occasional villains that nobody will team up with, even under threat of alien invasion.

Action/Adventure is the best fit overall, I think.

How bloody are we talking? Body counts in the dozens/hundreds for villain rampages, collateral damage, what?

I'll focus on a modest start; big deeds and feats of heroism are all well and good, but I should start with the fundamentals and work my way up. I lack the experience of the more famous big-name heroes, so a bit of a training run is well-warranted. It'd be bad to find a weakness in my training while facing supervillain henchmen over semi-trained thugs.

Besides, while less prolific, weakening a gang (perhaps followed by some preventative measures) could make a significant difference in a number of peoples' lives.

Jump in the deep end, it will be fun while it lasts.

So explanations for the voting options.

The first vote is about how experienced you are. You're still new in this identity, but there may be a second set of spandex hidden in the secret panel of your costume rack.

The second vote is about scale, street, city, national, or global. Some things will be the same no matter which you pick, but other things will have major differences.

Oh YES.

It's our bread and butter, so let's go.

See, I'd actually prefer global, but the global option gives me the sense that we are an arrogant dick.

I mean, honestly, who says stuff like leave the small fry for the small players?

It's an honest evaluation. At that level, going out every night and searching for muggers is time better spent training with other heavyweights, so you don't train the wrong reflexes. You don't use main battle tanks on the neighbor's yappy dog, do you?

It's also internal dialogue. You'd never actually say that out loud, unless you actually voted to, and if you saw something happen you'd step in.

I don't know, I guess I'm just used to the super heavyweights being so powerful that training to get stronger with other heavyweights is useless because you are already so ridiculously powerful it doesn't really make a difference. I'm more used to them training to limit themselves and their powers so they don't kill people by accident.

I guess I'm just biased cause I'm used to Superman and he's the sorta guy who even while dying finds the time to talk someone down from a ledge or find someone's dog. Not used to big hero's thinking that any crime is too small for them.
