Superman Quest

Well does he also have his super mind training and martial arts too mate? Or are you those gone too?
Super-mind training? That probably falls under "as intelligent as Luthor". As for martial arts, Superman is an experienced brawler, but he doesn't have any formal training.

It doesn't have to have every single member of the League that ever existed. At most, it only needs to have the core 7.
Even then, if only Americans are part of the inner circle of the Justice League something has gone terribly wrong.

The Watchtower was the world headquarters of the Justice League. Before it had been built, the idea of making it a satellite in orbit was raised, but you had been adamantly against it. You, and the faction that formed around you, argued that the League should not place itself above humanity, and that a Satellite Watchtower would do exactly that. So instead the Watchtower was built in international waters, out in the Indian Ocean.

Landing on the Helipad you note Diana's jet is present.

On your way down to the central meeting room you pass Steel. You nod at him and he nods back.

After two security checkpoints you reach the meeting room, and take your seat at the round table in it's center.

Conversation stops as you enter. You approach the table but do not sit.

"For the Record: Now begins the 34th meeting of the Justice League Executive Committee. I will now call roll to establish that the Quorum of 5 are present."

"Batman, of the United States."

"Present."

"Captain Marvel, of the United Kingdom"

He raised his hand. "Here."

"Green Lantern, of the United States representing Oa."

"Present."

"The Martian Manhunter, of Brasil"

"I am here Superman."

"Long, of Zhongou."

"Yes."

"Sentai Aka, of Nippon"

"Hai."

"Spiderman, of Bharat"

"Here."

"Wonder Woman, of Themyscira."

No response, Diana isn't here. "Absent" you say.

"Superman, of the United States, Presiding. Present."

You sit.

"Quorum is met, the meeting may continue. Does any wish to bring up special concerns before the floor is opened to general discussion?"

Unusually, no one has any issues they want to air first. Shaken heads and 'no's round the table. Do you have any topics you want to bring up to be discussed first?

The matter of the gum being stuck under the tab-

DARKSEID'S CHALLENGE, FFS!
I fail at implication, because I thought it obvious that that was what the general discussion was going to be about. Here's the chance to ask Stewart about Oa's war with Darkseid or some other thing.

The Great Attractor is not on Oa (planet), Darkseid is taking it from Oa (nation).

But I get what you're saying.

Seeing the lack of response you sigh. "No one else is going to say it then? Fine. Darkseid. We have a year before he attacks Earth, maybe more depending on how Oa does against him at the Great Attractor."

Long snorts, it manifests as a small jet of flame. "I thought your 'Green Light' was supposed to be the strongest thing in the Universe, Lantern. How is Darkseid beating your bosses, is he painting his armies yellow?"

The Green Lantern lays his hands on the table, looking at Long. "At a certain level of technical sophistication it becomes possible to attack Lightwielders obliquely. Attacking the mechanisms we use to tap, store, and manipulate the Light, rather than the light itself."

"The Anti-Life Equation." Batman interjects before correcting himself, "No, that would be for all seven colors, not just Green."

Of course. It's obvious now that Batman's said it. The Emotional Spectrum is pivotal in the psychology of every sapient species. If there was a way to cut someone off from it completely, they would either die on the spot or become an empty puppet, devoid of internal motivation, able to be ordered about by anybody.

Green Lantern nods, "Correct Batman. Darkseid's countermeasures are not reliable. They work rarely, one time in ten thousand, if that, but when Darkseid's fleets are using ten million of them at a time... Well, it's effective enough to make it a fight. And yes, he's painting his armies yellow."

"There are four of you here on Earth." Sentai Aka noted, "I am given to understand that is an unusually high number. If this war at the Great Attractor is so important, shouldn't some of you have been recalled to reinforce them there?"

Green Lantern looks at the leader of Japan's monster fighting team, "Our orders are to remain on Earth."

Captain Marvel slams his hand onto the table with a resounding BANG. "We are digressing. We should be talking about how to prepare Superman for his duel, not interrogating our friends."

"Do you think you will win?" Lung asked.

"I don't know, I've never really cut loose before, and Darkseid's power varies with how much of himself he's investing in the Avatar. It could go either way." You answer.

"There has to be some way to prepare. Weapons, training, some sort of power up maybe?" Spiderman responds.

"Hmm," Batman says, "Give me a few days and I may be able to set up a training room, and a training regime."

Probably just an indoor Gym with red sunlamps for lights. You can tell the others are staring at Bruce incredulously from their posture though. Show off.

"Are weapons, or gear, even allowed in the duel?" Queries Captain Marvel. "We need to find out what the rules are."

"If there are any ways to augment your powers, you should take them Superman." Aka affirms, "Darkseid cannot be allowed to win."

You consider carefully. Obviously you should pursue all three options, and any others that come to mind later, but how will you prioritize them?

[] List the three in the order of your prioritization. Feel free to add new options for Superman to consider.

Aranfan, you've said that Supes has no training in Martial Arts. Do the Kryptonian Arts exist in your AU? Both Mental and Physical? Also, Fortress of Solitude. How extensive are its Databanks?
Kryptonian Martial Arts did exist, but they didn't come along in Kal El's rocket. Jor El and Lara El didn't have room for that kind of thing, most of the rocket's mass was taken up by propulsion, anti-detection equipment to run the blockade (you didn't think Kyrptonians were only on their homeworld by choice did you?), and baby Kal El. There was a holorecording that Ma and Pa Kent managed to figure out, and showed you when you were old enough and curious enough, they never made any secret that you were a foundling. The rest of your rocket's archives didn't survive landing.

Most of your knowledge of Krypton comes from Brainiac, actually.

The Fortess of Solitude is something you made yourself, and filled yourself. It's databanks are fairly extensive, but they're comparable to the Batcave's not to Brainiac's or the Oan libraries.

In canon the Kryptonian Empire was a Nazi-esque expantionist polity that was enough of a threat that the Oans went to war with them and forced them back to Krypton, and made them stay there.
Basically, except that in this Elseworld it was a grand coalition of most of the other universal great powers. The Kryptonians went on a massive power trip around 7 thousand years ago, and got stuffed in their home system for much the same reasons as the Dilgar. Among other things, worse things, they exterminated all life on Mars down to the last bacterium. You know this from Brainiac.

There are four Green Lanterns on Earth.

Nightblade said:
So no Martian Manhunter?
Martain Manhunter is in the room with you right now. He's from the past, and when he found out that Mars is now a lifeless husk he was horrified. When he found out Kyrptonians were behind it, he attacked you. You're past that now, but it strained your relationship for awhile.

Night_stalker said:
Wait, what?

Kryptonians behind Mars's demise?
The Martians committed the "great crime" of not giving tribute in excess of the amount agreed upon. For this "crime" all life on their planet was exterminated.

Humans were ignored since they were only just discovering this nifty thing called agriculture, and weren't worth the effort.

Nightblade said:
Isn't he just as strong as superman?
Not here. He was strong enough that you felt it, but not strong enough to kill you.

Polokun said:
I'll be honest, I have a good handle on all the JLA members except MM> What exactly are his powers again?

Also,where's Aquaman and the Flash?
Aquaman is busy ruling Atlantis. Flash isn't on the World Executive committee.

Actually, on second thought, no. Global politics with metahumans thrown in are complicated enough without throwing in an entirely new nation that claims all the worlds oceans, a claim that no other nation with a port would let stand.

Aquaman does not exist, and Atlantis is a myth.

Polokun said:
Atlantis has an army that can basically take over the entire world if Aquaman wanted. Keep in mind that the ocean? it surrounds EVERYTHING.
Right, which means that global politics is unrecognizable. WWII should probably not even have happened, and fishing rights and ocean pollution and there's a whole laundry list of things that Atlantis would change. Much easier retgone it, and base global politics on a modification of RL instead.

Polokun said:
They don't interfere because basically everything that happens up on the surface, they don't give two craps about it.
WE POUR POSIONOUS SLUGE INTO THE OCEAN IN COPIOUS AMMOUNTS!

The idea that Atlantis doesn't have any reason to intervene on the Surface world is bullshit. Even before you consider their likely objections to ecological collapse from overfishing, the mere possibility of which would get them involved in every fishing dispute on the planet.

So it occurs to me that "Justice League" is a shit terrible and horrifically pretentious name for an organization of metahumans who focus on disaster relief.

Sadly I'm also terrible at names.

Well yeah, but you even called Darkseid's first statement a trap for Superman to make an enemy of Earth by claiming authority he doesn't have. If that was indeed deliberate and not just a sign of Darkseid's world view giving him logic holes, then if he can set up one lateral obstacle like that, he can set up more. Some other way to stack the deck.
Orion called it a trap.

"Training should be my first priority. Gear can be broken or stolen, and power ups could conceivably be countered. Training can't be taken away so easily. Build the training room Batman. We should also talk to Orion about sparring partners."

Bruce nods.

"My second priority will be looking for ways to boost my powers. I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure how well they'll work." Kryptonite modification wasn't something that would have crossed your mind two days ago.

Nods around the room.

"I'll ask Orion about the rules, see if weapons are allowed. If they are, we have a wide selection availible."

"We are forgetting something important." All eyes turned to the Martian Manhunter. "The world must prepare for the possibility that you will be defeated, Superman. The world must prepare for war."

Green Lantern nods, "The four of us have agreed to forward ourselves to the US Army if Superman loses."

Spiderman gives a short chuckle, "Ha, Bharat has already announced it's moving to a war footing. I expect conscription will start once the date nears, even for metahumans."

Long growls, "I would rather fight for the League than for China. The government would use me against other nations."

Everyone shifted uncomfortably, even you, before Captain Marvel speaks, "The League does have the most powerful collection of individuals on the planet. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with becoming a fighting organization. Soldiers think differently than peace keepers or rescue workers, and we can't afford a mindset that's primarily military, it would ruin everything the League stands for."

"Even so," Sentai Aka responds, "We could be the strongest fighting force on the planet. If Darkseid attacks, we must defend the Earth."

You sigh, "With luck, it won't come to that."

The Martian Manhunter coughs, "I believe we have exhausted this topic."

Nods around the table.

"Very well then, the floor is now open to general discussion."

Maybe we could talk about installing a global defense system using all the advanced tech hero's get their hands on?
Global Defense System is a nice buzzword. What would this entail, who would control it, who gets to know how it works, etc?'

Also, how is this a timeframe? The write in was supposed to be for how long to timeskip, not topics to bring up at the meeting.
