C'mon, let's have ourselves a Soviet Superman!

I dunno having Superman in a Regency Romance with Lois Lane would be hilarious. Lois would sound like Charlotte Brontë or Jane Austen.

It was a close one, but looks like we're headed to Victorian England. Some fun ideas already popping with this era.

Even if Superman is raised as an Englishman there's no reason why Batman can't still be an American. Though there's one man who should be brought to England. And that's Oliver Queen. Because if we don't bring Green Arrow to the land of Robin Hood it'd be a massive missed opportunity.

Also I want to have the opportunity to affect how the relationship with Lex Luthor is shaped. It'd be fun to potentially have a scenario where Luthor and Superman are friends for a change.

It's going to be interesting to have a serious take on "what if Superman was raised English" since the only version of that we got was an groan-worthy "comedic" Elseworld co-written by John Cleese.

Wait won't we have to find Jack the Ripper during this period won't that be great
Jack the Ripper was active in 1888. The Victorian period nominally goes from 1837 to 1901, which is pretty broad, but if I had to guess what the QM is going for we'll likely see a focus on the 1870s through the 1890s, which is a fun time for golden age style mad science and sensational crime to foil.

Also hopefully we'll get to punch Cecil Rhodes in the dick but I'm not counting on it.

Prologue 1
Prologue
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a vessel in possession of an innocent babe must be in want of a place to land. It is also a truth universally acknowledged that an innocent babe in possession of great power must be in want of a family. However little known the views or feeling of such a babe may be upon first entering his new world is of little importance, the truth of a babe needing a family is so well fixed in the minds of the humans upon which you will live that you are already considered the rightful property of a family.

In your youth, you know little of your origins and you remember very little of the vessel upon which you traveled if you even traveled upon such a vessel at all. All you know in your youth is your life in your new home. You find yourself living in the care of:

[] Miss Havisham
An eccentric, wealthy old spinster who lives in a large mansion in the heart of Rochester with her ward Estella.

[] Mr. Bennett
A landed gentleman with a wife and five daughters located Hertfordshire, England.

[] Ebenezer Scrooge
An extremely rich and miserly old man in London.

[] Alan Quartermain
An adventurer who travels the globe.

[] Dr. Van Helsing
A brilliant doctor and monster slayer.

[] An orphanage workhouse in Mudfog
"Please sir, can I have some more?"

[] Write-in
For sake of this one, write-in's must be approved by me first in order that we don't dive into a character/family I'm unfamiliar with or don't find particularly enjoyable to write.

Most updates will be similar in length to the introduction, but the early prologues will be shorter.

[X] Ebenezer Scrooge

So here's a little background. A Christmas Carol is set sometime in the early 1840s. If Scrooge, his heart changed by the Ghosts, were to take in an orphan infant/toddler and spend the remaining years of his life raising him, then that orphan would be prime adventuring age in the late 1860s to early 1870s. (Taps head.)

Also I like it because who better to raise Superman than one of the most famous redemption stories in literature, a man who will show Clark the goodness of the human soul can always come out?
