Sufficient Velocity Logo

How about an arrow going through a planet and hitting a spaceship destroying it and having the ''Sufficient Velocity'' text going above the arrow?
 
It's called Commando. I added the gap through which the "one at sufficient velocity" passed. If people like this idea, I could polish it up a little a lot.

Most sites have a little image next to the tab (on chrome anyways) and perhaps we could use a version of that for the tab image?

is for. I thought it looked a little too busy with the letters, but I could try a version like that.

I guess I could change the font (pretty easily too, although I don't think I want to do that one. I liked the tilt better than straight up and down, at least with the fonts I was trying (the tilt isn't from the font, but from skewing it), but honestly, I didn't spend that long messing around and trying different fonts, so my choice might be sub-optimal.
 
Some preliminary concepts.


Update 1: Playing with colours, plus accompanying favicon. Main logos background is translucent, so it should be usable on a wide range of backgrounds/skins.

Here's my thought on it... inspired by the OP's version.



It's simple, clean, and interesting.

The version you see here is in PNG format, and I have it in a Photoshop file if anyone wants it to fiddle around with.

Looking back at the suggested banners/logos, I still stand by Avalon Aurora's design. Though Merino's design ain't bad either, at least it's simple (compared to Photoshop), elegant and keeps to "One, At Sufficient Velocity" in design more than well... Some of the less catchy logos.
 
I still like Avalon's as well, although MindState is a close second. They're both pretty simple and elegant.
 

I like this image better Mind State. That said The red in Velocity IMO would be better if you extended it approximately another 10% down

Honestly, I don't like the red/white split. I think it'd look better if it was all white/grey with the center of the V left 'open' to blend with the background.
