"Stop right there." Rukia cut you off. "Don't start. It'll just end in endless circles." You flinch at the bite in her voice.
"Okay…" You muse. Rukia stares a moment longer, before sighing.
"If you see Seireitai one day, you'll understand." She states, returning to her juice box. "Otherwise, leave well enough alone." You watched in silence as she sipped on the drink slowly.
"Right…" You mumble out. "So… do I have to keep all this secret?"
Rukia blinks, looking at you quite intently.
"I'm supposed to, yes." She answers. "There's no such rule saying you can't tell anyone, no. In fact, it's probably for the best someone can cover for your absences, there will probably be a lot of them. I certainly can't, I have to lead you to the Hollows."
Well, you could only answer that one with score.
"Well… I can think of two people off the top of my head who might start… you know, becoming Mediums." You state hesitantly. "It'd be nice to ease them in before they actually do so."
"You mean the Mexican and the girl who stopped you?" Rukia asked, thinking. "Yes, that is acceptable, I won't stop you. The Mexican is in very close proximity with a spirit anyway. It's no longer a matter of if he will develop some sort of power, but when."
"What?" You just stared at Rukia, who crumbled her juice box and threw it across the roof, landing in the bin with a rattle.
"You didn't notice?" She asked, looking at you oddly. "No, you probably wouldn't. For all your strength as a medium, you lack anything approaching talent."
"Oi!"
"You probably didn't see the boy's soul within the bird the Mexican has." Rukia finished, leaning back. "He's a plus, a soul that needs to be sent on. You need to do that sometime soon, I think. He is fine so long as he remains in the bird, but he will turn into a Hollow very quickly if he leaves."
"Sorry?"
"Hollow's are souls whose chain of fate has disappeared, consuming their heart and covering their face." Rukia stated, as if she'd told you before. In truth, you probably had heard this before. "Your job is to kill them, allowing them to move on. Weren't you listening to me yesterday when I explained my job?"
"It was like three in the morning when you did!" You grumble. Rukia just huffs.
"Excuses." She mutters. "Humans and your need for sleep."
"You don't sleep?" You ask incredulously. Rukia just looks at you dully, before standing up.
"Of course not." She answers. "I am Shinigami. I have no need for sleep." She begins walking towards your body, hoisting it up. "Come here, it's time we went back to class."
"Right…" It takes only a moment for her to shove you back in your body. It feels very weird, suddenly waking up in the short girl's arms. She helps you stand, before looking at you quite intently.
"Listen to me, Kurosaki. Your body is your life." She states sternly. "If it dies, you won't get another chance like you did this morning. You will have to pass on or become a Hollow." You gulp at the thought, looking away.
"You… mind helping me explain this to a friend?" You ask. Rukia shrugs, walking away.
"No, but you had best think hard on it before you do so." She answers.
[ ] Continue as planned, and talk to Tatsuki…
