Stark Quest v2.0 (AGOT crossover)

[X] Plan Atri
[X] Search for Shinies
It would allow Harlon to find out more information about the situation and the questions are well thought out to grathe the maximum amount of information from Dany

[X] Atri
[X] Dealing With Demons

Reasoning: We get some info, tests the limits of the binding with a good natured interrogation:rolleyes:. As for the Name of the thread, D&D is fine too...

Just as a quick note, in canon, the Rhoyar that fled to Dorne included water mages and used it to make parts of the desert bloom, creating the oases and small rivers that exist there today. The Orphans of the Greenblood may include minor water mages today, although they're no longer calling up water spouts to smack dragons from the sky.
Yeah, I like the name Stormsingers better, so I folded Water Mages into that. And while there may be some still hanging around. They are not confirmed, and Harlon doesn't know about them.
I think the Gardeners had some form of plant control inherited from Garth Greenhand as well.
I'm going with something similar to the North's skinchangers here, but so little is known that I'm not putting them on the list.
Necromancy is used by the other right? Or do they use someting else?
There are several types of Necromancy. The Kiss of Fire, Qyburn's experiments, and the Others version are the most notable.
Presumably there's also whatever form of magic Bran the Builder used to build the Wall out of Ice and keep it up, and whatever the Valyrians used to shape stone like clay on a massive scale.
Yeah, Harlon is ignorant about these types. You'll need more info to add them to the list proper.
I can support this build.
Ah, yes. Everything can be fixed with more firepower!:p
So, after this, who wants to go to King's Landing to go up against our third Forsaken? :p 'Cause we're on a roll when opposed to them right now.
Pro-tip: Don't go near Alûthair unless you have some way to protect your Name...

Vote will be closed in 75 minutes. Please get your votes and reasoning in before then. Next update will take place in the new thread. Also, as a sign of my appreciation for you guys I will start the new thread off with a bonus vote!:)

She's also potentially much more dangerous than any of them.

For all we know, Dany might have 9 in Naming. Potentially.

It will be easy. We just have Ithroen Travel into somewhere a mile or two away from where we're keeping her and having her teach female channelers.

Yeah. Its not like the fact that our female channelers are all highly trained will never reach Ithroen.

This is something we should know about from the book.

We did not even know about the mark. The book was very limited.

I thought that was because Rand didn't have the talent to Heal.

No, he explicitly states that he cannot teach a WOMAN.

"Just try it," Rand said. "I can't tell you how it is done specifically, not for a woman, but you are clever. I'm certain you can manage."

Rand knew how it was done in principle, and he apparently knew the weaves for saidin, but he could not actually use them himself since as you say, someone with a healing talent was required. I presume he could have taught one of the male healers (though only 1 had the talent at Nynaeves level anyway), but this was at the worst of his insanity and paranoia and after he had channeled the True Power. Nynaeve figured it out the female way of weaving quickly enough on her own anyway due to being a healing prodigy.

RJ even talks about it (quick search):
Robert Jordan
Yes. It's not separate. The True Power is not like saidin or saidar. The reason there are differences for men and women using the One Power is that one is using saidin, for men, and women are using saidar, which are not identical. But using the True Power, which flows from the Dark One, men and women are using exactly the same force, exactly the same source of Power.

Its also repeatedly confirmed:

"Can't you do something to help him?" Nynaeve demanded. "You are the one of us who is supposed to know everything, or pretends to. Can't you teach him? Some part of it, anyway? And don't quote proverbs about birds teaching fish to fly."

"You would know better," Moiraine replied, "if you had taken the advantage of your studies that you should have. You should know better. You want to know how to use the Power, Nynaeve, but you do not care to learn about the Power. Saidin is not saidar. The flows are different, the ways of weaving are different. The bird has a better chance."

Thats confirmed time and again.

It's very much not. Linking is a very advanced skill. After three thousand years of trying and failing to work out how to do it, the Windfinders needed the Aes Sedai to teach them how, IIRC.

I don't think they knew such a thing existed so they never tried. The moment someone explains it to them (in that bowl of wind session), they get it instantly. I think its not at all advanced but rather one of the most basic things for women. And I figure Ithroen could explain it quite well.

Or it contained a lot of inherent magic, which we just broke.

I am pretty sure its said it became useless with the breaking of the Hightower-Ithroen contract, but too lazy to go look right now. :)

Or just demons in general.

Maybe, but demons generally don't seem anywhere near as dangerous as forsaken. Heck, they probably were created by the forsaken considering Ithroen called the constructs. Dunno if thats one of the 13 present, or someone who was balefired before he could be sealed into the Prison and altered.

Yep, but until we know Harlons Name, that probably won't be enough.

Ohwell, I am sure everything will be fine if we let Ned to go to Kings Landing on his own. I mean what could possibly go wrong?

Possibly nothing. Alûthair may decide not to interfere at all and let the kingdom tear itself apart on its own, and only take advantage of the chaos later so as not to make his own influence known. Not every Forsaken will take a hands on approach.

Reasoning: the questions seems sound. Though I suppose the clever thing to do would be to make a gateway to the sun and toss the disc in.

Hmm what would happen if someone made a gateway to space anyway?

This would the best way, but I dunno if the world is advanced enough for Harlon to know this.

Throwing it to the sun would also require circle for the gateway. This actually was asked of the author once:

Interview: Jan 25th, 2005
TOR Questions of the Week Part II (Verbatim)
Week 19 Question
How far can a channeler Travel with the One Power? I know they can Travel anywhere on the globe, and enter Tel'aran'rhiod through a slightly different weave, but is it possible to Travel to other planets, or even planets in other galaxies?
Robert Jordan
Travel to other planets within the solar system would require a circle of fairly strong channelers, though not necessarily as many as thirteen, depending on exactly how far out they wanted to go. Travel to a planet in another solar system would require a rather large circle (of the maximum possible size) of very strong channelers, and there would a limit on how far they could go in one jump. They could planet-hop, of course. Travel to another galaxy would be beyond them even if they began on the planet in this galaxy nearest the target galaxy.

Also, not sure Harlon could realistically make that threat anyway. He might have experimented with cuendillar and figured out its tough, but I don't think he knows HOW tough. He does not have IC reason to believe it would survive in the sun.

Yeah. You are right. And without Alûthair interfering, Ned will be absolutely safe. He just needs to be careful not to lose his head.

We just have to make sure he doesn't reveal any blackmail he has needlessly.

We should try to convince him not to do anything truly major if theres time to communicate with us first. If gateways are running by then, we can come up with somekind of covert system of opening small gateways away from KL that won't be detected by Alûthair.

I also wonder if we could teach Ned some of the mind augment sequences. Maybe that would allow him to figure out better what would be really stupid. He does have a high intelligence of 8 (Will and Wis of 8 too).

Actually, Catelyn also has INT of 8(.25). Would be worth teaching her offensive sequences too, just in case. We should also try to convince her to make peace with Jon. Telling her that Jon is not actually Neds son from another woman will hopefully help.

[X] Ask questions
-[X] First, you'll ask some questions to test how honest you can make her. You will pretend to be ignorant about the Forsaken for now.
--[X] If you want to talk at all, we need you to swear an oath to answer our questions truthfully. No lies, even by omission.
---[X] Cease communicating for a time if she refuses, and then come back a bit later to see if she'll cooperate.
----[X] If she accepts and swears the oath, ask Jon if he feels that the oath truly binds her to tell the truth or if it is just a ploy.
--[X] Are there any limitations or costs to asking her questions?
--[X] What is she?
--[X] What are her powers? Can she use them in her current state?
---[X] If she can use her powers right now, make her take an oath not to use them without Jon's permission until she's out of the disc. Otherwise cut communications and come back later.
----[X] If she accepts and swears the oath, ask Jon if he feels that the oath truly binds her to tell the truth or if it is just a ploy.
--[X] Why was she in Illyrio's employ? What did he offer her?
--[X] What does she know about how she ended up in our captivity?
---[X] Does she know who we are? If she doesn't, don't let her know we're Starks.
--[X] Are there ways to communicate with her at range?
--[X] What are Daenery's magical abilities, and how good is she at each of them?
---[X] What is Daenarys's personality like? Does she truly want to conquer Westeros or is that a notion put into her head? If so, can she be dissuaded from that path? Which Houses in Westeros does she hate, what would she do if she met members of those Houses and what future plans does she have? Does she have any weaknesses, either in character or in skills, that can be exploited? If yes, then how?
---[X] Does Daenarys know about Tavar's true nature. Is she aware of any of Illyrio's, Viserys's or Tavar's plans? Does she approve of any of them, if she knows?
--[X] What does she know about the disc we trapped her in?
--[X] What does she know about the state of her body, since she's apparently been pulled from it? Is there a risk to us if we leave you out of it? If she has revealed that she is a Forsaken, then ask what the state of mind her host is in - is she insane, or dangerous, or capable of functioning at all without Tavar anymore?
--[X] What does she know about Pentos? Who are the people that can be used, bribed, coerced or otherwise cajoled into doing our bidding?
--[X] What does she know about Illyrio's contacts, both in Essos and in Westeros? Does Illyrio have other resources squirreled away somewhere? If yes, where and how do we access them?
---[X] Ask if Illyrio knew or knew of mages or magically inclined people in Westeros. Who are they? What are their abilities?

---[X] Did Illyrio or does she know or know of mages or magically inclined people in Essos, most importantly in Pentos? Who are they? What are their abilities?
--[X] What does she know about the underground complex beneath Pentos, reachable from Illyrio's mansion? Are there any secrets hidden? Any hidden passageways or shinies?
--[X] If she mentions something about the One Power, ask her what it is, when it will return and how it will change the playing field.
--[X] Ask her whether the other cities in Essos have powerful mages/magic protections (we're especially interested in Myr and Braavos, as those are the closest ports that could get us back to Westeros - though don't tell her that). If yes, let her elaborate. Ask her what defenses can be put up to guard yourself from them.

--[X] Does she know anything about Illyrio's, Daenarys's, Viserys' plans, immediate and future? If yes, let her tell us. Does she herself have any immediate or future plans? If yes, tell us.
-[X] If, at any time, she tries to betray us or otherwise harm us, cease communications. Also, after the questions are asked, ask Jon what he thinks of this. Does he think we could make use of her? Should we put her in some secret secure place and never touch her again? Or should we banish her?
