So you want to be a wizard (Young Wizards)

I don't believe I've voted yet

[x] Sarah Sinclair - Probationary wizard (Classmate)
-[x] Try to catch Sarah before the end of lunch
[X] Leave talking with others till you know more about this wizard thing
-[X] Flip to the opening chapter and see what your aptitude is.

Edit; Okay I think I know what the plan is. It's going to be looking for Sarah first, then checking the book.

You slide the book into your backpack and head down to the computer lab. It's normally open during lunch with one of the teachers supervising. You step inside to see a group of senior years gathered around a computer playing some type of flash game. Over in the corner you can make out Sarah. She's sitting in the corner with a laptop on her lap, and the computer in front of her on. She keeps looking back and forth between the screens.

At a quick glance you'll have some privacy talking to her, but how do you want to approach this?

[] Ask her if she is a wizard
-[] or would that be a witch
[] Do you know anything about this book?
[] This might be a bad idea. Maybe I should read up on this first
[x] Say "Hi" and be friendly
-[x] At some point in the conversation casually ask about the book and observe reaction
[] Write in

Yeah, she knows you. You even talk about books on occasion. But you're more friendly acquaintances than anything.

[x] Take the book and slam it in her face HOW DO YOU TALK TO GIRLS I DON'T KNOW WIZARDS MAGIC ARE YOU ONE AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
[x] Talk with her casually.
[x] Ask some leading questions about what she thinks about magic.
[x] If Positive go for the kill and show her the book.
[x] If Negative, tell her flat out that you know she's a wizard. After her priceless reaction, show her the book.

Our end goal should totally be a silicon planet based computer that casts spells.

Whaaaat do you mean someone already did it?!?

Isn't it a bit forward of us to have a whole conversation about her being a wizard in the middle of class? Best case, she laughs it off and thinks we're an idiot forever.

"Hi," you ask after walking over, "Mind if I grab a seat?"

"Hmm?" She glances up, looking a little confused, and annoyed, "Sure." She flips her laptop closed.

You log into the computer and while waiting for it to load into Windows (8 to be specific. Yuk!) you glance at her laptop, "Did you your folks finally break down and buy you a laptop?"

She grins, "Dad finally got tired of me interrupting his online poker to do homework. It's not top of the line, but I can still mess around on it."

"Nice! Does that mean I'll see you in the library more often?"

She laughs, "Are you kidding, from here I can plug in my computer directly to the network. No way am I going to be losing out on internet time."

"Fair enough," you turn back to your computer and open Google, "By the way, we just got a new book into the library that you might enjoy."

"Oh?" Sarah looks interested, "We finally getting in a bit more sci-fi? It's been forever!"

"Kinda," You say as you pull out the book, "It's about wizardry, but it tosses around a lot of Sci-fi concepts."

She doesn't seem to recognize it, but she is looking at you carefully, maybe even nervously. "Well," she tries to laugh, "I've never been too much into fantasy fiction."

What do you do?
[] Are you a wizard?
-[] Or would that be a witch?
[] Oddly your name is in this book
[] I understand, I'll read it and let you know if it works as decent sci-fi
[] <Write in>

[Edit] Bleh, I'm bad at dialog. Hope it isn't too horrible. Also for the future, all dice rolls are 4d3-8+modifier

[x] Look around and make sure no one is listening in
[x] Oddly your name is in this book
-[x] If she responds well ask if all of it is true
-[x] if not drop the subject

[x] Ask her why that is. "You never got into Harry Potter as a kid?"
[x] Ask her what's wrong, as she is looking a bit funny. You're only there for simple chatter after all, right? ...Right?
[x] When she seems calm, mention that her name is in the book.
-[x] If she responds well ask if all of it is true
-[x] if she runs, ask if that is a thing Harry would do. Afterall, "Yer a wizard Sarah."

I just had an amazing idea.

What if we try to have our wizardry book/implement be a giant fungal colony? Some of them are the size of football fields. And we could access it remotely by just having a branch loaded with mycelium.

Let's actually read the material first so we can talk to her about something specific to it instead of getting fobbed off.
