Slayer, or how I learned to stop worrying and became the Devil-Tiger [Exalted x NGE]

Most people don't have enough soul to make it happen. It's just proof of how awesome she is.
Asuka bases her First Circle demons from her ID, the part of the psych that handles instinctual and erratic behavior. That was a Wrath-Spawn, a manifestation of her anger and survival instinct.

It says a lot about Asuka, that the manifestation of survival instinct and anger is a 8 foot tall demonic gargoyle capable of rending a IFV in two and can breath a stream of steel melting fire.

I won't even mention what her reproductive instance looks like, or worse, her instinctive uncompromising love.

Alrighty, I'm going to go do some editing, and with luck this might be updated by the end of the week at soonest, or certainly next week.

Also, Kaworu is a kinda dick.

Well, it tells us he is relevant next chapter, and that's something of a spoiler.
Well, consider this; Asuka is woefully unprepared for Celestial to Celestial combat. She's got no perfect defense, she hasn't got any experience fighting other Exalted, she's stuck to spirits and ghosts mostly, and her main way of dealing with any form of opposition at the moment is to pump as many motes as possible into an attack, which is suicide when you're fighting something with a PD.

You mean like Marena here?

Yes, actually.

So far Asuka's been relying on her hilariously high natural soak, all that's going to happen from a hungry ghost trying to rip out her throat is that her mom's gonna think she was necking with someone, but against someone with damage adders and actual artifact-weapons that isn't going to cut it.

Or rather, she's the on going to get cut.

Which would make Kyoko more angry: Asuka is secretly ghost-hunting, or Asuka is making out with some unknown boy?

To give a serious answer to a joking question; she'd be a lot more angry if she found out her daughter was going out and beating ghosts and gods for lulz every few nights, rather than doing the normal teenager thing and getting hickies. I mean teens are supposed to do stupid shit like kiss people and get love bites and all that, its normal.

What isn't normal is Asuka's desire, no, need to fight, to battle even when she's far far away from the Ascension Project.

You can take the girl out of the Ascension Project, but you can't take the Ascension Project out of the girl.
The Ascension Project trains those children that show sensitivity to the new essence flows that have flooded the world since Second Impact;it has a variety for programs and classes; it teaches Thumthurgy, Meta-Physical Biologiy and other such sciences that have came about since Essence has returned to the world. It also has programs designed to train these children into the soldiers of tommorow, the ones who will lead the fight against the Rakasha and the Dead. Espically since its become clear that Essence can overcome a lot of limitation that hamstring normal technology, like powered armor, a Essence battery will keep a suit of the latest powered armour going for a week straight.

Asuka was fast tracked into the Neo-Spartan program, which focused on developing the best fighters possible. To be frank its a horrible thing; its robs children of a large portion of their childhood for the good of mankind, teaching them war as well as their letters. She was part of this program since she was six, training and fighting with her peers as she flew above them. The quickness with which she learned how to fight, and the eagerness to prove that skill with action (Not out of sadism, but rather to prove herself that she was the best, both to her peers and instructors and herself) ensured her domination of her age group, and she was no slouch in the academic part of her education either, she even outperformed her her Exalted brother there.

And then the Ascension massacre happened and Kyoko yanked the girl out of the lifestyle she'd known all her life and into a normal world. Heck she hasn't been enrolled in school yet for a variety of reason. (mostly that she's a highly trained fighter who has suffered a severe trauma fairly recently and there is a genuine fear that Asuka may beat some poor kid to death in a bout of PTSD.

I like this! There's been a dearth of good NGE fics lately, and Exalted crossovers make everything better. Asuka, right now, embodies everything of a bad action movie/video game protagonist, brooding, kicking ass, saving damsels and shouting profanity. Anyone else I'd shout Mary Sue or bad cliche, but Asuka... hell, it fits her. Fanfic has its advantages here.

The faster we put whatever Perversling
Perversling, or Perversen. You went with the verb infinitive.
down that big, smelly [] Arschloch and feed him his own hair.
Article redundant.
we're all tief in der Kacke
deep in/Tief in redundant

I'm sorry. :p

I consider this fear perfectly justified.

Aaaannnnd it's well meaning but poorly thought out things like this that contribute to the general screwed up nature of the NGE cast.

I know that Kyoko means well, but when you've raised a child in something like the Ascension Project, you can't just pull them out and expect them to fit back in to 'regular' society. And giving full attention to another child is not helping.

Bad parenting. Just one of the staples of NGE :p

To be fair to Kyoko, it was horrific event that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of children and their guardians and there was very option but to take her out of the program and bring her back home, for the very longest time Asuka was in the deepest depression and bombard with the worst PTSD episodes you could think of, and to both Uri and Kyoko's credit they stuck by her during this.

And then she Exalted, and her psychological problems seemed to mellow out as the eldritch essence of the Yozi reforged her mind and body into something greater than before.

Or, it couldn't make things any worse? :eyeroll:

Is the 'Ascension Project' from canon Exhalted, or something created in this story?
Something for this story, I think. Khepri has taken elements from WoD, Exalted Modern, Exalted, and Evangelion, smashed them together, stirred it a bit, thrown in some new things for spice, and turned it into a story.
Things follow Evangelion in general concept, but in execution are going way the fuck off the rails.
