Shooting Star (Megaman Starforce/Worm)

*ahem*

You know, if Shadow Stalker was there when Alicorn showed up to save Emma, I would imagine Miss Hess went from "What the hell? What sort of Cape is that?" to "OhshitOhshitOhshitOhshitOhshit!" to "Please, God, if you exist, I promise if I survive this, I'll be more proactive in saving people!"

After all, what started as rescuing Emma turned into Alicorn going one-on-one against Lung. Being on the sidelines of that sort of battle would make anyone panic.
imo if shadow saw alicorn save sophia one of the following will occur
1.she will admire alicorn enough to follow her(like a creepy stalker)
2.she will start her training montage to get strong

Writing Transformative Fiction

Sorry for posting this here randomly, but I've hit the point in my life where I've decided to pursue writing full time, and am committing to releasing a single chapter of each of my stories, at least once a month (For Solo Stories), and as fast as I can write them (For the Two Collabs I'm working on). I currently am working on the three stories listed within my sig, a Star War x KC Fic, a collaboration fic with Tale Swapper (Fire Emblem Three Houses), and have various other ideas in the kettle.

Your support is greatly appreciated!

Another update!
Ignition 1.04 will be arriving at a forum near you shortly! I am also exclusively posting to SV from now on, which will be announced on my spacebattles fics when my next chapter comes out!

Expect Ignition 1.04 within the next two days~

Ignition 1.04

The downsides of staying up so late to accomplish the task set out before me by Vulpecula were making themselves known as I walked through the doorway into Dr. Ridgeway's class. My eyelids valiantly attempted to stay open as I took my seat, hoping that whatever my favorite teacher had in store for me today would be interesting or entertaining enough to keep me occupied.

"Good Afternoon, Class." Our teacher called, a smile on his face.

"Good Afternoon, Dr. Ridgeway." The class droned back, and, to my shame, I was among those simply reciting the words. I couldn't get excited about a subject I genuinely enjoyed today, even as I pulled down my ARV. I was hoping to God that I wouldn't fall asleep and make a fool of myself, even as my eyelids began to droop once more.

'Told you you shouldn't have pulled an all-nighter Shizuka! Maybe you'll actually listen next time?'

I barely kept my groan from being audible. Vulpecula had been hounding me all day about my regrettable life choices, and I was beyond sick of them.

"Class, while I had initially planned to start on Civilian Parahuman Law, recent events have forced me to evaluate that choice. We'll be going over our new heroine, Zenko's recent actions, and how they are covered or not covered by the various laws. That'll serve as a test of your knowledge, one which I fully expect most of you to be unable to "complete".

My eyes widened fractionally, then sharpened. My grip on my touch pen tightened, and I glared at the desk I was seated at. Of course, they'd cover this while I'm in the class! I railed, not at all mentally prepared to have my actions vivisected by someone well versed enough in the law to have been a lawyer ten times over.

"Please bring up the link I'm attaching to the class message board. For those who aren't on the message board, kindly get on it. Now, please watch the first video in that playlist. We'll be discussing Zenko's actions within it after ten minutes pass."

It was… an interesting experience watching the utter failure that was my first live combat as Zenko. I kept cringing at the rookie mistakes that I shouldn't have made, something that drew looks from several of my classmates along with our esteemed teacher.

"Ms. Rii, is there an issue?" The Doctor asked, a frown on his face. I shook my head, wincing as the video displayed my idiot ass getting slammed into a building once again. The phantom pain dancing across my body didn't help much.

"No Dr. Ridgeway, just cringing at the number of rookie mistakes Zenko made." I replied, letting the disgust I felt at how horribly I had performed slip out a bit.

"Ah. Carry on then."

Of course, the group chat absolutely exploded upon my mentions of Zenko's various failures, more than one of my classmates rushing to defend her, which, of course, was highly flattering and amusing in equal amounts. Something that had me blushing lightly, to be honest.

'What did she do wrong Shizuka? I couldn't really pick out anything legally.' One of my classmates, Chris Scheaffer asked. I raised an eyebrow. That was rather insightful, and, as far as I could tell, correct. I hadn't made any mistakes legally, as far as I could remember.

'Not so much legally as combat wise. She had all the advantages that mattered, and she threw them away. This is, of course, from a purely analytical standpoint. I've only ever been in martial arts tournaments for comparison.' I replied.

'Ah. Thank you for the clarification.' Chris answered a moment later. 'Ah, found a legal issue.'

I frowned at Chris's analysis and the lack of info. Sighing softly to myself, I combed through the video again, my eyes widening as I found the same legal issue. I hadn't fucking announced my presence, which, while inadvisable tactically, was legally required by vigilantes. At least by the letter of the law.

Shit, I cursed within the sanctity of my mind, How the fuck did I miss that? I know that law!

'To be fair Shizuka, that law is often ignored and tossed out in most court cases. The Vigilante Act is slated to be amended to remove that portion if you recall correctly.' Vulpecula stated, having figured out the issue. 'Besides, you know that it's extremely unwise to actually follow that portion of the law.'

'But-'

"Time's up class" Dr. Ridgeway called, his eyes flashing back and forth between posts on his ARV. "Looks like only a few of you managed to guess the relevant laws correctly. Two of you managed to cover more than I'd expect from a freshman law student. Congratulations, Chris Sheaffer, Shizuka Rii, you know more about Parahuman Law than most of the citizens of the US do."

I gaped. How. How was it possible that a teenager with a hobby knew more?

Nearby, Chris was also gaping, and vocalized the question, "How do people not know this? It's something they should know! Hell, everyone should know their rights!"

Dr. Ridgeway smiled. It wasn't a nice smile. "Because I can almost assure you that most people don't actually care enough to study the laws which bind and protect them. I can almost guarantee you that most of the Wards do not know their rights, let alone the Protectorate."

Still gaping, I nodded carefully. "Why would that be Dr. Ridgeway?" I asked cautiously.

"Because, partially, ignorance. People simply forget about their rights or don't care enough to research them when they're hurt. Partially, the PRT is not advertising it as much as they frankly should be doing, but that's politics, and this class is purely about the law."

I nodded in understanding, as this most of the class. Chris, however, appeared to be deep in thought.

"Class, since we all agree that Zenko violated the Vigilante Act with her actions, could anyone care to guess why this doesn't actually matter?" Dr. Ridgeway stated, asking a pertinent question that had me raising my hand.

"Mr. Johnston."

A blonde boy nodded, "Because the Vigilante Act is held together by a hope and a prayer, Dr. Ridgeway. No one actually follows the letter of the law anymore, just the spirit."

Dr. Ridgeway looked pleased with the answer. "Correct." He paused, glancing at something on his ARV, and sighed. "Apologies class, it appears that I have a family emergency to take care of. You are dismissed for a free period. Please head to the cafeteria for it, as I cannot let you remain in this room."

With his piece said, the good doctor impatiently waited for us to exit the room. Upon the last student leaving it, the man locked his classroom door and began walking with a purpose towards the exit of the school.

"Wonder what that was about." Chris wondered aloud. I, along with most of the class, shrugged. I had no clue, and as much as I loved Dr. Ridgeway, I was too busy texting Vulpecula with my newfound free time to really care. I was still a teenager, after all.

It was in this silence that our class made our way to the cafeteria, and, with great haste, got on their electronic devices to spend the rest of the class period "studying".

'You going patrolling today Shizuka?'

'Yeah. I'll be home to cook dinner, I promise.'

'Please do. You know our caretakers hate it when we skip on chores.'

'Mkay Amelia. Love you.'

'Stay safe Shizuka.'

I closed the message, looking over the skyline of Brockton Bay. From the EM Wave Road I was on, I had a fantastic view of the docks, where the bustling industrial heart of Brockton Bay churned out EM technology and civilian vessels by the metric ton every day. It was, also, rather controversially, the center of Lung's power.

'Remember that the Docks have the best EM security in Brockton Shizuka,' Vulpecula warned via HUD. 'Being the heart of Brockton's EM industry will do that though.'

I nodded. I was well aware that security in the Docks was on another level from the rest of the Bay. Which is, of course, why it was such a surprise that Lung's gang had established enough of a presence here to actually do something.

`Vulpecula, how's that information gathering going?' I type out, watching the traffic in the Docks go by. There was a lot of it today, it seemed.

`Not well. Too many proxies. Too many shells. Lung is surprisingly competent, or totally off the grid.'

'We'll take both into consideration.' I typed back, adding a smiley emoji to the end. Vulpecula's heart in reply was amusing. It helped lighten the load of what we were doing. Meting out our own justice was, by my own ideals, not something I liked doing. But the PRT, and by extension, the Wards and Protectorate had not done much for the city. The Empire 88 was still around, and the very fact they still existed cut me deeply to the core. They should have been… rounded up. Just like they had a small group of Asian immigrants last year, and slaughtered them to the last man, woman, and child.

And the PRT had done nothing. Issued a statement saying they were cracking down on the E88, but… nothing. No one had been permanently punished. The E88 got away with another hate crime, and the PRT did jack shit. Worse, all the other letter agencies were silent on the matter, something that shouldn't be happening.

Forcing back a snarl, I breathed in, paused, and breathed out. It wouldn't do to let my judgment be clouded by admittedly righteous anger.

'Thinking about last year again?' Vulpecula's text caught me by surprise, but I nodded. 'Don't. It's pointless to dwell on it. Yes, it was a tragedy. Yes, you're angry. But anger is a poison, one that will consume your life, leaving you empty or dead.'

I nodded carefully. While I didn't quite agree, it would be foolish to ignore the wisdom of someone quite a bit older than me. And, upon further thought, she was probably correct in more ways than not.

"I guess you're right Vulpecula." I stated aloud, "I just can't stop thinking about it."

"I know Shizuka." Vulpecula stated from my side, having manifested herself. "Trust me, if such an atrocity had been committed by an FMian, I would be hard pressed to forgive them." The Amian put one of her hands on my shoulder. "But that's why we press forward. Why we constantly seek to better ourselves. And you, Shizuka, can be better than your hate."

I… I was shocked, to be honest. Vulpecula wasn't shy with her compliments, but she usually held back, afraid of giving me a big head. But… I guess in this case, brutal honesty was better. Smiling at my partner in thanks, I refocused on my self appointed task.

Dismantle some of Lung's support structure, so that when he inevitably broke out, he would have less to work with.

At around 18:30 Eastern, I gave up for the day. I wasn't going to get anything from just a casual observation. That meant hacking, trawling through {cyber cores}, and other highly dubious things that I wasn't entirely comfortable doing. Which meant I was likely just going to patrol. Damn it!

Thankfully, the wave roads made getting home trivial. Ten minutes after giving up for the day, I walked into the modest house that my foster parents called home, immediately heading up to my room. I would have the privacy to change there. Minutes later, clad in fresh clothing, I headed to the kitchen, put an apron on, and got to work on dinner. Something traditional, at least, for my Japanese side. I had no idea how to make any cuisine from Mu, after all. An hour later, the salmon I had cooked was done, along with the mo soup and rice.

"Dinner's ready!" I called, setting my apron aside. "Big sis, come help me set the table!"

"Coming! Give me a second Shizuka, I'll be right down. Just finishing up my thoughts!" Amelia called from her room. Likely working on homework.

Our foster parents weren't home yet. Father was probably out job hunting, and would probably be home shortly. Mother, unlike father, was probably still at work, but would be home in time to join us. She worked at the DWU as a secretary, to one Danny Hebert, and the DWU compound was directly by our place of residence.

"I'm home! Dinner smells good Shizuka, thank you."

Speak of the devil. There was my father. He quickly made his way into his office, likely to set down his briefcase. He was old fashioned, but he was trying, and always had his Stargazer on him, even if he really didn't get much use out of it.

"Welcome home father." I stated, smiling at him. Despite never truly connecting with each other, we did love one another in our own unique ways. "How was the job hunt?"

"Well. The interview that I had with {Intel} went rather well. If I get the job, I'll be making less than before, but we'll have access to some amazing benefits." He replied, smiling widely. "Shizuka, if I get this job, we won't have to force you to move out when Amy hits her majority!"

My eyes widened. That- That was the best news we'd had since father had been laid off. Hell, our rift had started when they'd told us that we'd have to move out within the next two years due to financial concerns.

"Really?!" That was Amelia, standing at the bottom of the stairs, looking utterly shocked. "We really can stay?" Her voice was so full of hope. Just like mine would be if I had been the one talking. We might shittalk our foster parents, but they did genuinely try, and it was nice to know that they still were willing to provide for us.

"Really Amelia. We didn't want to kick you two out. We really were running out of money to support you two. Dorothea's job doesn't pay all too well, and we used all our savings to ensure we completely owned this house when I had gotten laid off." Father replied, looking tired. "We are truly sorry for the way we went about it as well. It wasn't right, telling you that we wanted you out as soon as you could take custody of Shizuka."

Amelia shook her head. "Our whole family is bad at communicating father. I should have realized the financial pressure you were under."

"Stop apologizing to each other, jeez." I interrupted, a wet smile on my face. "Is-"

"I'm home!" Dorothea, our mother, called. "Dinner smells wonderful as always Shizuka dear. Salmon, rice, and miso correct?"

I nodded happily. "Yes mother. I got all the ingredients at the market earlier today, so they should be somewhat fresh."

In truth, I had gotten them directly on my way home. But mother and father didn't need to know about those activities quite yet.

"Were you crying dear?" Dorothea asked, finally looking at my face. "What's wrong?"

"Noth-"

"I just told them the good news dear." Father interrupted. "I have a good feeling about the job with intel. This was my second interview with them, and I'm almost certain that I'll be getting the job."

"That's wonderful news Sam! But for now, let's go set the table. The food will get cold otherwise. We can talk more over dinner."

AN: Did I say two days? I meant today. Lol. But, more seriously, thank you all for your patience!~

Capitalization.
Vulpecula wasn't shy with her complements, but she usually held back, afraid of giving me a big head.
Compliments.

Huh, looks like things are looking up for Amelia and Shizuka.

But lest we forget, this is a Worm crossover. And what does Worm do to characters who are about to catch a lucky break?

Fixed! Thank you for getting what I missed (And my Beta)

Edit: A very important part of this fic is that it's a Fusion. Keep that in mind~

Nice chapter! First fight is always cringeworthy lol!
In truth, keeping your head enough in the chaos of battle to execute well is practically impossible. It's why militaries have to drill so much.

Thanks for the update!

No issues! I'm setting a Bi-Weekly schedule due to it being the most realistic for me. I'll have both At the Edge of Eternity and Shooting Star Updated this week, because both my pride and want for my readers to enjoy it. If I can't, I'll ensure it's out ASAP. I hate letting a project sit.

"Amen." Sam finished, nodding in appreciation at my sister and I's respectful attitude towards their prayer. "I appreciate you two bearing through this nightly. I know you're both Agnostic."

"Agreed. Thank you dears for respecting the rules of our home while you've been here." Dorothea added. "We truly do appreciate it."

Amelia and I simply smiled. We may have hit a rocky patch with them, but Sam and Dorothea were the closest things we had ever had to parents. Our previous foster parents didn't even rate the term; there were a lot of reasons Amy and I never talked about them.

"This is very good Shizuka." Sam commented, "Would you mind teaching me the recipe?"

"Not at all, father." I replied after a brief pause, "It's not too hard a dish. I'd be glad to pass down some of my heritage to you."

"I'd love to join those lessons dear," Dorothea added. "In fact, Amelia, would you like to join us as well? We could make it a weekly family activity?"

Amelia shrugged. "Sure. I'd like to learn to cook more dishes, and Shizuka's a much better cook than I am." I beamed at my older sister. She sent me a wink back.

"Glad to see you all repairing your relationships," Vulpecula stated, materializing. "Letting them wither was a mistake."

"Agreed, Vulpecula," Sam stated seriously. "Thank you."

I frowned at Vulpecula. She had been up to something. Sam wasn't just thanking her for her comment. I shook my head. It didn't matter. My mother and father were back, and honestly, that was all that mattered.

We spent the next hour or so talking, chatting about various subjects as we repaired the bonds between foster parent and child. Of course, the niggling feeling that I was being dishonest continued to wear at me, before, eventually, it built up to full-blown guilt.

I have to tell them. At least about Zenko. I made a promise…

"Mother, father. I have a confession to make." I all but whispered. Amelia's eyes snapped to me, mouthing,

"Are you sure?"

I subtly nodded at her. I couldn't hide this. Not when we were actually trying to be a family again.

"Go ahead Shizuka." Sam stated, suddenly serious.

"I'm Zenko." I stated, making absolutely certain that they understood what I was saying.

"That doesn't surprise me Shizuka," Dorothea stated. "Though I do recall you saying you promised to tell us when you EM Wave Changed. May I ask why you decided to break that promise?"

I winced. I really didn't have a good answer to that beyond...

"Because she felt like she was being abandoned," Amelia stated in my defense. "I certainly did, though I absolutely understand why."

"Amy…" I whispered, "You didn't have to…"

My sister shook her head. "They deserve to know. I'm Isis, Mother, Father. I hid this for the same reason Shizuka likely hid that she was Zenko. I felt like I was being abandoned."

Our foster parents shared a look, then sighed. "I think I understand why you hid it. We can't insert ourselves directly back into your lives, but we would like to establish some ground rules for you two if you're willing to trust us." Sam stated, frowning deeply, though we could tell it wasn't directed at us.

"First of all dears, we want you to come home safely. If that means abandoning a fight, we expect you to abandon a fight." Dorothea stated, sighing sadly. "I would be very upset if the two of you didn't come home, dears. . You've been very good for us, and I'd like to think we've been good to you, even if we've slipped as of late."

"That seems reasonable Dorothea. I accept on Shizuka's behalf." Vulpecula stated. I nodded in agreement.

"I agree with Vulpecula. I don't want to risk my life unless absolutely needed. Though I reserve the right to stay if absolutely needed to preserve the lives of others." I added.

"An honorable stipulation. One that I should have considered myself. Agreed Shizuka. We will not flee if lives would be lost." Vulpecula amended.

"I agree as well, Mother." Amelia chimed in. "I'm a rogue for a reason, after all."

Sam nodded at Amelia. "I approve of using your skills to heal others, Amelia. I also approve of you aggressively defending your business from those thugs last week. The E88 are scum."

Amelia gave an exaggerated curtsy. "Thank you, father. On that note, do I have permission to keep all of you healthy? I get… anxious when I don't use my power too often, and it often bugs me to use it creatively. It gets especially antsy around Shizuka, for some reason."

I shrugged. "I have no issues, Amelia."

Mother and father echoed their agreement.

A field of energy washed over me.

"Fixed. I'll be sure to check on stuff daily." Amelia stated happily. "Anyways, any other rules?"

"Please let Sam and I know if you aren't going to be home at a reasonable hour. We don't mind you being out past midnight, just ensure your grades stay up. At least your current grades, please." Dorothea continued, "I won't accept your schoolwork falling behind, even if Amelia doesn't theoretically need to anymore."

Amelia and I nodded. "Yeah, I could make lots of cash off my powers. I already do. On that note, Mother, Father, I'll send you some of the money, if only to stave off some of those bills."

Sam nodded appreciatively. "I appreciate it, Amelia. Expect a similar amount deposited back when I can afford it."

My sister nodded curtly.

"Now. The only other rule we have is you are forbidden from becoming villains. We will report you to the PRT if you do unless you have a damn good reason." Sam stated. "We will not abide you two becoming criminals."

"Understood!" Amelia and I chorused.

"Now, with the hard talking done, shall we have some dessert? I have some of that pumpkin pie leftover from last night…

The ringing from my Stargazer tore me out of my sleep, the alarm having me rolling out of my bed instantly. That wasn't my standard alarm, it was one that indicated I had a message from someone or something I considered important. Guess something had happened overnight.

Putting my ARV on, I activated the heads up display, wincing at the sheer number of messages I had in my inbox, on top of the alerts that I had in general. Parsing through them rapidly, I noted that Vulpecula was still in do not disturb, meaning that she was asleep, or doing her own morning ritual.

[Lung Escapes PRT and Protectorate! PRT Director Piggot to comment at a Press Conference later today.]

Shit. I muse, forwarding the news report to Vulpecula. Continuing down the list of notifications, dismissing most of them as either irrelevant, unimportant at the moment, or random PHO Threads that I had followed.

[New Thread Posted by Bagrat: Lung Escapes, Again.]

I forwarded that to Vulpecula as well, opening it in the Stargazer's browser, but leaving the holographic display alone for the moment.

[You have 1 New Voicemail on your Instance: Zenko]

Huh? I mused, before hitting play.

"Hello Zenko. If you are receiving this message, we managed to reach the correct Stargazer. We'd appreciate talking to you at the {Satella Police} ENE HQ in Boston, if possible. If not, we're willing to talk remotely, provided you are on the EM Wave Roads. Please call us at our official webpage, and enter the Keyword "Servant of Inari, Zenko" to be immediately connected to the operator. Have a nice night"

I forwarded the message to Vulpecula. I'd have to take care of that after school today. Yawning, I fully got out of bed, and headed towards the showers, intent on getting there before Amelia did.

After my nice, hot, relaxing shower, I got dressed in my regular day clothing, strapped my stargazer to my right thigh, and headed downstairs, seeking food.

"Good morning Shizuka." Mother greeted me at the bottom of the stairs, "Breakfast is on the table. I used some of the leftover salmon from last night, I hope you don't mind."

I shook my head. "Not at all. Salmon quesadilla?" I asked, receiving a nod in return. "Awesome! Thanks, mother!"

"Not a problem. Good to see you're still an early riser dear. Best of luck with school and your after school activities today. I assume you are going out for a patrol?"

I nodded, too engrossed in my food to do otherwise. As always, mother's food was fantastic, as was the salmon. I prepared it pretty often for a damn good reason, after all.

"Morning mother, morning Shizuka." Amelia called, descending down the stairs, "How's everyone today?"

"Fine, thanks Amelia," I replied, having finished with my food moments earlier. "Breakfast is on the table, thank mother, not me."

"Thank you for the food mother!" Amelia chirped, heading towards the seat adjacent to mine. "We'll be out late today, though we should be home for dinner."

"You're fine to be out late girls." mother stated, "Sam and I are going out to eat, and though you're more than welcome to join us if you'd like, I recall you two not exactly enjoying our tastes."

I blanched. Sam and Dorothea loved heavy foods. I disliked them, mostly for a dietary reason. Eating healthy was one of the advantages I had over most of my adversaries in the field.

"We're good, mother." Amelia stated, "Shizuka owes me some Thai."

"I had hoped you'd forgotten that," I grumbled good naturedly, "Meh, I don't mind Thai. We'll be fine for dinner, mother. Enjoy your date." With the last of my piece said, I started heading back to my room.

"Thank you, Shizuka. Good luck at school today."

School was a struggle, especially with the call from the Satella Police weighing on my mind. Frankly, with {Project TC} being a thing on Earth Kap, and as I was starting to suspect, on Earth Bet, through a similar but different system, there was a good chance they'd ID'd me and wanted something from me. I did not want to be outed, thank you very much, and the fact that the government had enough data on me to do that was a heavy thing indeed.

"Shizuka, I'm pretty sure you're correct here," Vulpecula stated through my earphone, sending me something to browse as I ate lunch. It was the page on Project TC, one that indeed showed that people no longer really needed to input their TC Code to wave change, as it was a passive thing nowadays on Earth Kap.

'Keep an eye on it Vulpecula,' I typed, 'I really don't like that I'm already on NASA's radar due to my heritage, and I really don't like how I'm on the Satella Police's now.'

"Understood Shizuka. I'm not happy with this either, though I understand the secrecy."

With that, I returned my attention to my sister and lunch, poking her on the shoulder as I pulled one of my earphones out.

"Wanna talk a bit?" I asked, smiling at her.

"Sure. What's up, sis?" Amelia replied, popping one of her earbuds out as well. Over the sound of a nice game soundtrack, I replied,

"Just wondering how school is going for you. Any favorite classes? Advice for your younger sister?"

Amelia barked with laughter, "Ha! School's fine. Biology is a breeze, and I love how the teacher basically has no idea how to deal with me. I do love the class though, it gives me a lot of ideas."

I nodded. "No advice?"

"Find some friends. I had a group of seniors that graduated last year I hung out with, so I'm in the market for some friends as well, though I have no idea- One second sis. Barnes! Come sit with us!" Amelia yelled, having noticed someone.

"Coming, Lavere. Gimme a second." The girl in question replied, making her way over to our table, and plopping down her tray. "How goes it Lavere?" the girl, Barnes, stated.

"Doing okay. Where's your usual tagalog? I haven't seen her at all this year."

"Taylor? She's… I can't exactly talk about it, sorry." Barnes stated, a look of extreme sadness crossing her face briefly before she composed herself. "I will say that she's the best damn friend I've ever had, and nothing will change my mind on that."

Amelia winced. "Shit. Best of luck with that Emma."

The other teen gave my sister a watery chuckle. "Nothing I can do. Dad's trying his best though."

"Legal issue?" My sister asked.

"Yeah. But there's so much red tape laid out that it's impossible to really do anything. The… the people who are doing this to Tay are good…" She was clearly struggling to say something, "Damn NDA."

"Anything I can do to help?" I asked, "I'm pretty well versed in some aspects of law, at least, somewhat. And if this is a parahuman issue…"

Emma stared blankly at me, neither confirming nor denying. That was enough.

'Amelia, sis. I do believe we have an obligation to help your friend.' I texted, while saying out loud, "Enough about that for now I guess. Anything exciting going on for you Emma?"

'Yeah. Emma's a regular at my place, so much that she actually knows I'm Isis. One of the five people on that list, to be honest. Taylor actually knows too. A complete accident that they know, but they've kept mum. I consider both of them friends, and it is strange that Taylor's not in Arcadia. Time to… Investigate I think.' My sister responded promptly while saying, "Yeah Emma, can't all be doom and gloom, right?"

"I can see you two typing you know?" The beautiful girl stated, rolling her eyes. "Thanks for trying to include me though."

Amelia and I simply gave her a thumbs-up, and our table devolved into mindless chatter, combined with a rather impromptu planning session between me and my sister.

"Those utter fuckers." I seethed, my eyes blazing with fury as I gazed at the information Vulpecula had dug up. "They caged Taylor. In a fucking gilded one."

Amelia wasn't doing much better. "Over dead gangers." She snarled. "A clear cut case of self-defense, if not for the fact that a single civilian had gotten injured."

"Indeed. Pegasus Magic is only going along with this because they have his partner over a barrel. I doubt that Leo Kingdom or Dragon Sky know, or there would be hell to pay. I'd imagine that this is by Taylor's request since Pegasus Magic is no doubt upset. I'm upset. They caged one of ours, one that has explicit diplomatic immunity, and no one noticed for a good month! The easiest way to deal with this is to go to an Embassy. But-"

"But Taylor, for some reason, hasn't been able to." I snarled. "I'd imagine that the rest of the family is constantly being watched as well, so they don't think of it. Damn fucking PRT. I TRUSTED THEM."

"I don't think this is the whole PRT Shizuka. This reeks of the branch going rogue, or something else." Vulpecula stated, "The US cannot afford to anger FM and AM. This is an act of pure stupidity, one that has a rogue branch written all over it."

"How are they getting away with it then?!" I snarled, crying to the heavens. "This is… This is."

Amelia's silent fury was almost palpable as well. "Vulpecula. Options. Now."

"We report the rogue branch to the Local Satella Police. This is the riskiest option, as they're likely compromised as well. I'd just recommend physically showing up to the Washington DC Embassy with this, and letting the fireworks fly." Vulpecula stated.

"I- I agree. Let the US Government dig itself out of this hole." I snarled, then paled. "No wait. We can't do that. There's a reason Pegasus is going along with this, and it's not because he can get out at any point in time."

"What are you- FUCK. How did I not think of that!?" Vulpecula snarled. "Those utter… fucking… bastards."

"Mind filling me in you two?" Amelia asked dryly.

"They crucified Taylor. Not Pegasus. Pegasus was probably presented an option to grant Taylor leniency and it probably came with the caveat that he allow Taylor to "earn" her parole or something dumb like that. So, if he leaves, Taylor gets chucked into the Birdcage or something. Something that someone like Pegasus can't abide by. It's all technically legal. This can't just be a rogue branch Vulpecula. This is…"

"It still might be, but it's looking like this isn't, yes," Vulpecula growled. "Damnation. Looks like I'm going to have to enact the fugitive contingency for you two."

"Why?" I asked, "Isn't that for-"

"If any one of us had to break the law, we'd do it together. I'm not abandoning Pegasus, and I don't think Amelia or you are willing to abandon Taylor. So… We're going to go home, explain this injustice to Sam and Dorothea, and-"

"Become villains?" Amelia asked.

"Nothing so pedestrian. No, we're going to plot on exactly how to free Taylor Hebert and Pegasus Magic from the entirely "legal" grasp of the US Government, or, if it is the PRT gone Rogue, the PRT." Vulpecula stated coldly.

"So we're becoming-"

"I don't think Vulpecula wants us to go against the Government directly Amelia," I interjected, interrupting my sister. "I think she wants us to work out exactly how to crucify the PRT and US legally."

"Ah. So we're not going to run around causing mayhem?"

"Probably not," Vulpecula said dryly.

"Fuck. I was looking forward to testing some of my more terrifying creations."

"Sis, you scare me sometimes…"

AN: I have no idea if this is how actual diplomacy works. Neither do I have any intention of changing it if it's not. For now, please suspend your disbelief, as all the characters involved in this are imperfect narrators. They only know what they know.

Woah! A lot happened here. Deep respect for the family conversation, that doesn't happen nearly enough.

Regarding diplomacy, I'm not an expert either, but it doesn't sound too crazy.

Nice chapter, thank you!

Hey Guys. Miho here. I'm dropping in to announce a temporary hiatus while I work to get my muse back for this. I'm unsure on how long this will last, but for now, I apologize.

Thank you, Miho.
