SHIMMERING MIST : HATAKE SI (Naruto)

I'm just reading the first chapter and the MC just seems to let go of an opportunity to keep one of the most powerful character as a backer... Is this gonna be another pseudo-si without any agency... Is the MC just another tacked on character that just has surface involvement in the story, but ultimately impotent in the grand scheme of things? Because, I really don't want to begin reading and find out that the story was pointless halfway through... I really don't understand stories that add extra variables but just ends up rehashing canon. A variable that doesn't factor into the equation is just dead weight, and pointless.

TSUNADE SENJU

Tsunade Senju watched wide-eyed as a literal meteor appeared above their heads, tearing up the sky and descending with a promise of unimaginable destruction.

"What the hell is that?" she questioned as she glanced towards Shikaku, who had stepped inside as the ANBU lowered the barriers, knowing that the battle had ended.

"It's probably Tsuchikage's technique," he said as he looked towards Minato, who was looking up with a complicated expression.

"Could you teleport it away?" Shikaku questioned as the meteor barreled towards Ame. Given its sheer size, if it hit, it would level a quarter of the village.

Though Minato shook his head as he bit his lip.

"I don't have the reserves to teleport something as big as this at the moment. I have a marker placed near the village, but even then, I can carry about three, maybe four people with me," he said as he looked toward her.

And she watched as Jiraiya's three students rushed towards them as well, worried and anxious, much like the rest of the people.

"What are we to do? If that meteor hits, it will level a major part of the village, and we don't have enough time to get away from here," the orange-haired kid spoke up anxiously.

Tsunade glanced around her and saw the dozen or so leaf ANBU and the other Ame-nin and she knew that there was only one choice.

She bit her thumb and began to cycle through a set of hand seals, activating the seal on her forehead once again, flooding her chakra networks with chakra as the very ground cracked beneath her feet.

"There is no other choice. We have to stop that meteor from crashing into the ground! EVERYONE USE YOUR STRONGEST JUTSUS TO DESTROY IT! THOSE PROFICIENT IN EART STYLE BUILD PILLARS TO SLOW ITS DESCENT!" she shouted as she finished making the handseals and stuck her hand into the ground.

"GRAND SUMMONING JUTSU!" and she felt her reserves drop, her mind becoming light-headed for a second as she summoned Katsuyu.

"Tsunade-chan, why have you summoned me?" Katsuyu questioned.

"Katsuyu, we need a healing domain to deal with the eventual damage from the meteor's crashing!" she said as she turned towards Minato and the rest, knowing that she would not be able to give commands afterward.

"Minato, I want you to teleport along with Shikaku, Fugaku," and as she glanced towards her other teammate, he intervened.

"There is no need. I shall manage on my own, though let me lend you a hand first," he added, as he began to cycle through a set of handseals, as several earthen pillars rose out of the ground around him.

"But Lady Tsunade," Shikaku was about to retort when she cut him off as she turned away from him.

"No arguments! This is an order! If it is, indeed, Ohnoki behind this attack, then as Ame's allies, we cannot leave them to fend off such an attack without Konoha's support," she said resolutely as she began to cycle through another set of handseals, a green shimmer enveloped her as sealing formulae began to expand below her.

"I will not have Konoha abandon one of our allies again!" she said resolutely as she sat down and uttered the name of the technique.

"NINPO: IMMENSE HEALING NETWORK!"

KONAN

Techniques were fired from her side, pillars rose from the ground, and people were shouting and screaming as techniques of every chakra nature were thrown towards the descending meteor.

Her heart shook as she watched members of the Akatsuki throwing everything they could at the massive earth-style technique, yet to no avail.

That thing was not budging.

"NINPO: IMMENSE HEALING NETWORK!" she heard the Lady Hokage shout, and then suddenly her massive summon dissolved into the ground, a slimy liquid spread all around beneath them, and suddenly she felt the fatigue leave her as she felt herself getting rejuvenated as a slug crawled up her leg.

"What are you?" she questioned.

"I am Katusyu, Lady Tusande's summon. I shall use her chakra to heal all of you and rejuvenate you all, so give everything you have to stop the massive meteor," said the slug, and she nodded, choosing to ignore it.

"Gods! We have thrown everything we could at it. But it's not having an effect!" muttered Tatsuhiko, one of the Akatsuki members, as he looked at the sky helplessly.

"DON'T GIVE UP!" Yahiko shouted from the front, his hands clasped I a tiger seal as the very ground beneath him rippled.

"If that thing falls, then it will not just kill us. It will kill thousands of people living in the surrounding area as well. We cannot let that happen! So fight! Fight not just for yourself but for your fellow village folk!" he shouted as he brought down his hand.

"EARTH STYLE: GRAND EARTH MOUNTAIN!" he shouted, and a literal mountain blossomed out of the ground and rose into the sky.

"Believe in yourself and your fellow comrades! We cannot lose hope, especially when our allies from Konoha are here fighting beside us! We shall not shame the spirit of Amegakure!" shouted Nagato as he raised his hand.

"ALMIGHT PUSH!!!!"

She could feel his chakra ripple through air as Nagato's eyes scrunched up, and the ground beneath his feet cracked up as he shouted

"AHHHH!"

And for the first time, she could feel the metoer's descent slow.

"IT'S SLOWING DOWN! DON'T GIVE UP!!!!" she shouted as she stepped forward herself.

"NIONPO: GIANT PAPER PILLARS!" she shouted a storm of papers, began to form four massive pillars rising up into the sky as they hit the boulder, which now was close enough to cast its shadow over them all.

She held her hands as she tried to maintain her justu, standing behind Nagato and Yahiko each of whom was screaming as their chakra networks burned in pain, yet the Hokage's summon kept them going, giving them the strength to go beyond their limitations.

And just as everything seemed to be working and they could see the Meteor halting in its descent, as a glimmer of hope bubbled in her heart, it ended just as quickly as Nagato fell to his knees infront of her.

"KUKH!" he caked up blood, as one of his hands fell down, and the meteor began to descend again, crushing the various Earthen pillars and mountains holding it up.

"NAGATO!" both she and Yahikop screamed, yet they could not look after their friend, for they had bigger worries, especially as the meteor began to descend once again, now inching closer and closer.

Her heart thumped in her chest, and even as several shinobi beside her gave up, and began to pray she didn't let go.

Using every speck of chakra in her body, she screamed. She raged.

"AHHHHHH!"

Yet it proved unequal to the task as the meteor continued its descent, and just when all hope was lost, and the massive boulder was just above them, the whole ground beneath them rippled.

A massive storm of chakra shook them all, as water began to rise up from the ground, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw a silver-haired shinobi stand up, making her eyes widen as she saw the water rush towards him into his open palm.

Their eyes met for a moment, and this time, there was none of that earlier darkness in that gaze, as he turned away from her as water gathered in his arm, the weight of it enough to push him into the ground.

He bled still from his face, and his side and his other arm still hung by his side, as the blur orb in his hand grew and grew, unlike earlier, this time it became nearly as big if not bigger than the blur orb Konoha's yellow Flash had used.

She saw him step forward slowly, dragging his injured leg, which seemed to buckle under the weight of the technique.

And for some reason, she moved her arm to the side as a slew of papers rushed towards him and attached themselves to his injured leg, allowing him to put some weight on it.

And then she saw him crouch before he lept off the ground with a massive explosion.

BOOOM!

And she was forced to close her eyes as he jumped towards the descending meteor, the massive blue orb in his hand, as he reached the meteor and shouted.

"Suiton: Soku Kozuki!" she heard him shout, yet the orbs didn't impact the meteor and simply vanished into it, and as her heart nearly gave up, the last semblance of hope gone it happened, as she heard a soft murmur.

"Expand!"

BOOOOOOOOOM!

And then it happened: the massive meteor broke suddenly exploded into a thousand pieces, and she could see that the jutsu had literally blown it apart from the inside.

Various pieces of it began to fall to the ground, but the shinobi were quick to react as they rushed towards the more dangerous pieces.

"STOP THE BIGGER PIECES FROM HITTING THE GROUND!" Yahiko shouted as the Konoha ANBU and Akatsuki members moved to the side, yet her gaze remained focused in the sky above, as the massive volume of water he had gathered fell down in a stormy rain.

And then she saw it. A singular body falling down through the sky amid the rain of the pieces of the meteor, and she jumped off the ground, raising her hand as a small slew of papers rushed underneath him to cushion his fall.

Yet the number of papers left was not enough to hold his weight, and so she jumped beath him and reached for his body, and she could tell that the man had run out of chakra and was barely clinging to life.

She landed on the ground roughly and twisted her ankle.

"AGHH!" she scrunched in pain as she fell down to one knee. Suddenly, her senses screamed at her to run. She looked up and found a massive piece of the meteor heading straight for her.

She didn't have enough time to hump away, and she couldn't leave the silver-haired shinobi who had saved them.

In the end, a futon justu raced past her and hit the boulder just as it was about to hit her, and she glanced back and found some of her fellow Akatsuki members rushing to her side.

"We will provide you with cover," they said as they began to divert the debris heading towards her.

This gave her the time to finally glance down at the person who had saved them, the infamous shinobi who had slain Hanzo himself.

And he was young!

Younger than even her, and now as she held him in her arms, she for the first time, realized that he was probably still in his teens. His body was beaten down, his arm and leg were broken, and he bled from his side.

And he was wincing as if in great pain. Their eyes met, and she stilled as she saw those black irises stare at her. They glinted, unlike previously, and carried little of the edge and ominous presence they had previously.

"Could you heal him?" she said to the summon of the Fifth Hokage on her shoulder and saw that the summon was hesitant.

"But isn't he the ene…?"

"I don't believe so," she replied quickly as she saw the severity of his wounds. The slug slithered towards him and began to glow.

And she saw his pain lessen as he was finally able to mouth a small 'thank you' to her and the slug.

"Is it really you, Ohashi-kun? Are you really back?" the slug questioned suddenly.

"I am," came the muffled answer, and from the way the glow around the slug ballooned, she knew that things had just changed.

And then it happened, she saw his expression shift as he glanced into the sky once again with a worried frown.

"He is still here," he muttered, and she halted as the implication behind that statement dawned on her.

The Tsuchikage was still here. She glanced around and saw the exhausted faces of their shinobi, of which only a quarter remained. The others had dispersed to protect the surrounding areas.

At this rate, the man could slaughter them.

She saw him, Ohashi, converse with the slug, before he suddenly looked towards her.

"Konan-san," he called her name, making her glance towards him as dread unsettled her.

"I need you to help me stand straight," and she frowned before she realized what he was saying.

He was asking her to attach her papers to his body to support his weight.

And as she looked down at his body, she could tell that he was in no state to move. Despite the iryo-ninjutsu, he was barely clinging to life. His reserves were gone, and he was pale from blood loss.

The man, no the boy infront of her, was responsible for a lot of Ame's problems, yet Hanzo was no saint as well. And if her suspicions about his condition were true, then he held little blame for his actions. Doing as he was telling her to would more than likely end up with his death.

Moreover, apart from killing Hanzo, the man had removed all presence of foreign shinobi from their lands. An action which had brought a semblance of stability to their village. Moreover, his chakra simply felt different.

Gone was the earlier darkness and the ominous presence it held. And in its stead, she could feel a warmth, a gentle warmth, like the Sun after a long and rainy day, illuminating the world itself, allowing the flowers to bloom.

"I cannot do that. You will die!" she said, with a shake of her head.

And he gave her a weak smile as he struggled to his feet, pushing himself off the ground, even as the slug protested greatly.

"Maybe," he said shakily as he stood up, even as the ground beneath had been dyed in blood.

"But this is the least I can do to atone for my actions. So, please, I beg you. Help me!" he said as he stared into her eyes, his gaze unwavering and determined.

And for some reason, her heartbeat rapidly as she saw the reflection of her own golden orbs in those dark irises.

"Ok," she relented and waved her hand, as a few papers rushed out of arms of her and attached themselves to his body, just as before, even as he winced as his broken legs and arm were straightened up.

"AGHH!" he nearly collapsed to the ground and had to lean on her for support as he huffed, sweat dripping from his face, as he coughed up blood.

"Huhhh! Huhhh!" he took deep breaths before straightening up, and then with a final glance towards her. He closed his eyes before his body began to float up as she raised her arm, levitating him into the sky towards a small silhouette standing above them all, as a small whisper escaped her lips.

To me he acted like the usual kage so I'm not sure where the bad actions he's taken are? Little bit disappointing though, wanted to see Ame become a major village.

OHNOKI

Ohnoki was surprised as he watched his meteor erupt into a thousand pieces, its pieces flying away in a different direction.

The technique lost much of its potency in this way, allowing regular shinobi to either evade or destroy the pieces headed their way. Yet he narrowed his eye, at the group below.

Though which one of them had managed to pull this off. Had it been, the Senju Princess, or was it that accursed Yellow Flash. Or was it someone else, and given the technique used to destroy the boulder had been a Suiton, it was highly likely that it was the latter, that silver haired shinobi who was said to have killed Hanzo himself.

BOOM!
BOOOM!
CRASH!
BOOM!

The ground beneath him exploded, as the leaf ANBU and the Ame-nin destroyed the pieces of the meteor, as he assessed the situation.

There was still an opportunity, though they might have been able to escape absolute annihilation, he could still target them and land a massive blow on Konoha and Ame at once.

He glanced below and saw the Senju Princess, who had not moved and sat on the ground cross legged as her chakra dispersed around her through her summon, healing everyone. She was at the moment performing iryo-ninjutsu over the range of several kilometers, saving lives that would have otherwise been lost.

There was no other shinobi who could pull off a feat even half as impressive as that, and that just showed the king of monsters Konoha created. His reserves had dropped to below their half level, and he doubted that the Senju princess had more chakra than him at this point, and even if he only managed to kill her, he could consider it all a success.

So, he began to cycle through a set of handseals, getting ready to use his prized particle style against the greatest med-nin of the continent.

Yet he had only made two handseals, when a sharp voice from behind cut him off.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," came the thick voice, and he turned around quickly and found himself facing the infamous silver-haired shinobi who had slain Hanzo himself and now led Amegakure.

And Ohnoki was surprised that he had not been able to feel his presence at all. His silver hair fell down and covered his eyes, as the shinobi stared at him with that steely gaze.

"Who are you?" he questioned as both of them floated in the sky, face to face.

"I believe that is irrelevant, Ohnoki. Though I am surprised that you had the audacity to attack like that knowing that there were both Ame and Konoha forces present down there," the shinobi remarked, as wind blew and his hair swung with the gust showing Ohnoki the man's eyes.

And Ohnoki stilled as he recognized the pattern in that eye. He would never dare forget it, till the day he died.

He had seen that eye before. Years ago, it had belonged to none other than the demon of the shinobi world himself.

Madara Uchiha.

"Where did you get that eye?" he questioned sharply, for Madara had been dead for years. Yet how had his eye resurfaced?

"You are a Uchiha?" he questioned.

"No, I am not. And this eye was a gift," came the answer, making him frown.

"And I don't believe I need to tell you from whom, fence sitter," and Ohnoki's face scrunched up at that nickname, and he let go of his chakra, flooding the air with it as he glared at the man.

"Then why don't I show you just what a fence sitter can do boy!" he snarled, angrily.

And the boy, was not affected by his killing intent or chakra and simply raised a brow.

"You could," came the simple answer much to his surprise, and then the air shifted as the pressure he had exerted suddenly vanished, as the boy let go of his own chakra and killing intent surprising him with its potency.

"Yet I am afraid such an a=endeavor would spell the end of Iwagakure itself," said the man, his tone non-chalant yet had no hint of a boast or lie. It was as if he was making a simple statement.

Then the man glanced down and spoke up.

"Look down, Ohnoki, and tell me what don't you see," the boy proposed, and he did, still reeling from his earlier statement.

His eyes scanned the now cleared ground, and he saw that the ground had craters where the pieces of the meteor had hit. Shinobi from both Ame and Konoha were present below, organizing and resting, and then he suddenly realized what the boy wished for him to see.

"It cannot be," the words escaped his mouth as he saw the absence of that accursed yellow haired shinobi. Konoha's yellow flash was nowhere to be seen. The Uchiha was also gone, the Snake sanin as well, and he still dread pool in his gut as he realized the sheer implications of the absence of three shinobi of such caliber.

"Indeed, I believe you have realized just who exactly is missing from down there," the silver haired ninja began.

And Ohnoki's fists balled up as he tried to catch any hint of a bluff or lie. Yet there was no such hint, and even if there was a minute chance that the three of these men had vanished to do what he feared, it could indeed spell the end for Iwagakure.

"You believe them to be your allies, yet when I came I saw them fighting you in a deadly battle?" he questioned, and the shinobi raised his brow.

"Indeed, there were grievances between our villages yet I believe your attack has helped us mend our ways in away."

"You lead Ame yet you would put your trust in those tree huggers," he challenged.

"I would, for though we may have a rocky alliance, neither of us hold any love for you and your village Ohnok. So, tell me what will it be," the man said.

"Annihilation," the man said emphatically as if he was not taking of a complete slaughter.

"or Peace," the man challenged, and Ohnoki ground his teeth as he floated in the sky, and tried to imagine a way out. In the end, there was only ever one option.

"What are your terms?" he questioned angrily.

"Simple, you and your forces are to withdraw from Ame withing a minute, and retreat back to Iwa. Any deviation and I can assure you your men will be slaughtered, and Iwagakure will become nothing but history," the man snarled coldly.

"Hmm, and what is to stop me from killing you all in this minute," Ohnoki challenged.

"Your men number a bit over two hundred and thirty," the man said and Ohnoki was surprised by the accuracy of that count.

"There are about eighty shinobi below us, you may try and fight them all, but with your reserves how many could you kill before running out of chakra, plus both Ame and Konoha have called for mobilization, even now as we speak forces of both village rush towards your village, preparing to raze it to the ground," came the chilling reply, and Ohnoki could only glare at the boy.

Even if it was all just a bluff, there was nothing he could do. He had to think of Iwa.

"Time is running out, Ohnoki. So, what will it be?" came the question as those steely eyes stared at him once more.

"Iwa shall retreat," he said with gritted teeth, and the man nodded.

"Good, then be on your way. You have a minute to pull back your forces, I will not give you any more time," and with that the man began to move, as he began to descent, and Ohnoki glanced down at the missed opportunity before floating away, to ensure Iwa' survival.

Truth was they had too little information on this newcomer. Was he truly related to Madara, or the Uchiha. And why was he leading Iwa. There were so many questions. And without their answers making a move would be anything but risky.

OHASHI HATAKE

Ohashi Hatake had known that he was trapped, when he had woken up in that cave bound with chains staring into Madara's eyes. He had known at once that if eh was to make it out of there alive he would have to thing out of the box.

He had to provide enough intrigue, that the man would be compelled to choose him as a successor. And so a plan had formed in his head. He had hoped that the man, would free him after he had proved his usefulness, giving him a chance to escape.

Yet things had escalated, and his plan had backfired when he had found himself trapped in the man's Izanami. A kinjutsu said to alter the very fate of a man. There was little he could do, to escape the technique. He had tried everything that came to his mind yet it was all futile, and so in the end he had hit upon a massive gamble.

A gamble for his very sense of self. Trapped in that endless time-loop he had decided to make an alter ego, one molded by him carefully enough that it would fool the jutsu into thinking that it had worked, while he would bury down his own real conscience, praying and hoping that others would be able to catch on to the various hints.

And so had begun the lengthy process of constructing a literal alternate personality, one with just enough of Ohashi Hatake so his fellow shinobi from Konoha could realize who he was, and with enough of Madara to make Izanami believe that his own fate had shifted.

It had been arduous, and time taking. Yet in the end, after much trial and error it had worked. And then all he could do was wait, wait until someone chose to put him under the same jutsu that had begun this all.

And then it had happened. Fugaku Uchiha had used the technique on him once again, rousing his slumbering conscience which would then dismantle the artificial personality he had constructed to regain control of himself.

Yet the situation was dire when he had woken up. A literal meteor was rushing towards them, and there was no one who could stop it.

And so he had pushed himself, using all the chakra to destroy the thing.

And yet despite that the danger hadn't yet passed. Someone still had to deal with Ohnoki. And with Tsunade-san preoccupied, he knew he had to bluff the man.

And so, he had sought the aid of the purple-haired kunoichi, Konan he knew her name. And in the end, using every ounce of strength and cunning in his, he was able to bluff the Tsuchikage, into leaving the village.

"Huhhh, Huhh," he huffed as he lay on the ground, vision blurry, shivering from cold as he saw the same purple-haired Kunoichi worry over him.

"Konan!" he heard someone call out worriedly as a pair of footsteps, came to a halt near them.

"Get away from him! Don't you know how dangerous he is!" someone shouted, he couldn't make out their face but the color of their hair told him who they were.

It was Yahiko, he could tell from his orange mane.

"It's fine Yahiko, and I have to help him, after all he saved our very lives. Without him Ame, would be devastated by that meteor, and all of us wouldn't even be standing here," she argued back.

"He is dangerous!"

"No he is not!" another voice cut in, this one much more serious and calmer, and he watched as Shikaku Nara and Tsunade Senju stepped into his vision with the Fourt Hokage sitting down beside him, as she began to heal him.

"So, you finally back with us kid," the man questioned as he stared at him.

And Ohashi tried to give the man a nod but was stopped by Lady Tsunade.

"Don't move, you idiot! Otherwise, you will kill yourself," she snarled angrily, and he could tell that she had very little chakra left. The wrinkles that her technique had kept hidden had begun to show, as her skin began to shrivel up. Though thankfully, it seemed as though the woman had avoided any major injury, well, except the one he had given her when he had struck her with a Chidori.

Yet she had healed that one already.

"Yes," he managed to eek out, and the jounin commander looked at him with a scrutinizing gaze, before he gave him a small nod.

"Rest up, kid. It's going to be a hell of a debrief for you!"

And with that, he closed his eyes as he thrust his life into the capable hands of Lady Tsunade.

Chapter 39

TSUNADE SENJU

The fourth Hokage of the village found herself sitting opposite to a shinobi she had never thought she would see again. The news of Ohashi's death had devastated her, and she had cursed the Gods for taking another one of her precious people from her.

It had felt like Kawaki all over again. She had failed to protect him. Yet the Gods had been merciful this time around as she sat infront of him, sipping her tea as her body recovered from the massive strain of using her sealing mark.

"So, what happened to you?" she questioned as she glanced at him. They had a theory about what had happened to him, yet it was now time to confirm what had truly led to the drastic change in him.

Ohashi sipped his tea as he answered.

"I believe you already have a suspicion," he added, looking at her with his normal eye as an eye patch covered his Sharingan.

"We do, but I would like to learn the truth. So, tell me what happened to you, Ohashi," she questioned again, and the boy sighed.

"Just as I landed the final blow on Danzo, a seal appeared on his body. A self-immolation seal that worked to trap and destroy anything around it. I jumped back, or at least tried to jump back to avoid getting caught in it, when suddenly something from the ground gripped me from below, stopping me from moving back, and I was caught in that seal," he began and she nodded.

"I had thought myself dead until I woke up in a cave tied up, my chakra sealed, and came face to face with a man. A man much older than me with a white mane, the same man who gave me this eye," he continued as he pointed towards his Sharingan.

"Madara," she cut in, and he nodded, confirming their theory.

"He had survived the fight against your grandfather, using and had escaped using a kinjutsu. He had remained hidden, looking for a successor who could carry out his will. And he had chosen me as his successor, and so he molded me. Or at least tried to," he replied.

They had reasoned that much.

"The Izanami?" she questioned and saw his eye widen as he nodded.

"Indeed, and while I was trapped inside I knew that I could not break out of it. And so I hit upon a plan. A plan to fool the technique, so I created an alter ego, one which was a mix between my own personality and what he desired to see. It took time, days, months, years, I don't know yet I managed to hit the perfect balance, as I constructed an alter ego with enough of me to raise suspicion among all those who knew of me, and enough oh him to fool the Izanami into believing it had worked," he finished and she shook her head.

"You fucking monster," she said with a smile, though a part of her felt proud of him for thinking like this. Few shinobi had the courage and the mind to pull of such a thing, especially in the face of an impossible situation.

He smiled at her, as he continued.

"I buried my own sense of self deep in my sub-conscious, and let the alter ego take over hoping that someone would notice the truth," at this he sighed as he leaned back.

"And thankfully they did," he replied and she nodded.

"Good, it was smart of you to think of this," she complimented him as they both looked at each other.

"Speaking of that, I believe I have yet to offer you my congratulations on becoming a Hokage," he said as he pointed towards the torn Kage robe placed in the corner, and she rolled her eyes.

"Ahh, yes. I had no choice but to step in, to clear up all the mess you created; after all, I couldn't let the sacrifice of my little apprentice go to waste now, can I?" she rebuked him as he hit his head, making him wince.

Both of them sat in the room as she told him of what had happened in the village. Yet in the end, he suddenly added.

"I have a request to make, Tsunade-sama," he said as he leaned forward.

"Let Ohashi Hatake remain dead, and allow me to remain in Ame!"

0000

KONAN

The Iwa forces had pulled back out of Ame, yet the situation in the village was dire. The forces under the command of Ohashi had clashed with Iwa forces, and the battle had been bloody, and now the said forces were in distress searching for Ohashi, their leader, as the village faced this crisis of foreign invasion.

In that sense, many in the forces suspected Akatsuki of colluding with the foreign forces, aiming to destabilize Ame. Iwa had its forces still stationed at the border, and the whole village was in a perilous situation as they lacked a powerful enough leader who could lead them through this crisis.

Akatsuki was strong, yet they were small and yet not skilled enough to unite Ame, and while the Ame forces were large in number, they also lacked the strength to keep Ame together.

In that sense, they only had a single option.

And she found herself sitting opposite to him. Ohashi Hatake, the killer of Hanzo, Konoha's infamous Shimmering Mist, the man who had killed Iwa's jinchuriki, sat infront of her as he recovered from his various injuries.

His scarlet sharingan was now covered by an eye patch as he sat opposite to her, his body covered in bandages as he processed what she had just requested of him.

"I still don't understand; you wish for me to remain here in Ame," he questioned, and she nodded.

"Yes, yes I do," she replied as she stared into his sole visible eye.

"But you do know who I am. That I am a Konoha shinobi. How would your forces even trust me after this," he questioned, and this was the biggest issue.

If his true identity became known to everyone, then there was a rare chance that he would be able to lead Amegakure.

"Only a few people know of your true identity as Ohashi Hatake, and if you do decide on staying back, I believe they would be inclined to keep it a secret, and if you presume your identity from before this battle, none would have any reason to suspect anything," she argued, having already discussed it with Yahiko and Nagato, both of whom had decided to let her take the lead on this.

"So, you would have me give up on my own identity," he confirmed, and she nodded.

This was a big ask, to ask a person to give up their name and heritage. Especially for a person who had supposedly lost his own free will previously, which was what she suspected had happened to him, given the massive shift she felt in his chakra.

He was quiet for a moment, and she could tell that his mind was racing as he thought about what to do, as finally he opened his mouth and asked the most important question.

"Even if I were to agree to your proposal, how could you and your forces ever trust me, afterall I did kill Hanzo and in a way caused all this destabilization," he questioned, and she sighed as she looked him in the eye.

Yahiko and Nagato had asked the same question, for giving someone like him so much power without any recourse was dangerous. And though she could understand their concern, she also knew that Ame needed him, that they needed him. And so, she had come up with a solution.

She reached into her pocket and took out a sealing tag she had prepared, and placed it infront of him.

"Though, from what I can sense, I trust you enough for this, yet Yahiko and Nagato, the two who lead AK…."

"I know who they are," he cut in as he looked towards her with a narrowed gaze.

"And I also know what that is. You would have me place my very life in your hands whilst you are seeking my help," he said in a sharp tone as his chakra cut through the air, making her shrink onto herself.

This was another big ask, one that no one in their right mind would agree to.

"I trust you," she cut in for some reason, and the tension in the room subsided.

"Though it may not mean much, but I do trust you. That was why I decided to help you. In part, Nagato and Yahiko do, too, because of how Jiraiya-sensei speaks of you. And I know what I ask of you is a big sacrifice, yet our village would fracture without it. A village that has been shrouded in darkness for years, and the first ray of hope that appeared was you, despite the nature and intentions of your actions," and then she bowed her head slightly.

"So, please help us. Help us fulfill the very dream you spoke of when you took control of Ame, the dream of peace and prosperity for these lands," she pleaded as she clenched her coat.

Her eyes remained pinched shut as silence reigned in the room until his voice cut in.

"Ok," he added, and she looked up and found him placing the tag on her chest and activating it, and her eyes widened.

"I will help you," he said as he gave her a smile.

"Though I do hope in the future you could trust me enough to remove this tag from me," he said as he stood up and began to walk out.

SHIYORI HATTORI-Vice commander of Ame forces

"Where is he!"

"Has he abandoned us!"

"They are heading for us. We have to do something!"

"SHUT UP!" she shouted as the shinobi behind her became silent as she glared at them. Her own heart lept in her chest with lingering doubt and fear, yet she could not let it control her. She had to overcome it, if not for herself, then for the village. For AMEGAKURE!

"He asked us to put our trust in him! He helped cleanse these lands of all those foreign agents, bringing order and safety to our people. Safety that we have not enjoyed for decades! And you all stand here and doubt him!" she shouted and saw some of the Ame forces glance down at her words in embarrassment.

She then pointed towards the direction from where they were sensing the presence of Kiri's army and shouted.

"Those people heading towards us, seek to maim our village. To bring us down, like they have already done, to make it nothing more than a playground for the Five Great Nations!" she said.

"They are strong! Yet they aren't the only ones!" she shouted loudly and saw many of them become nervous at her words.

"Iwa wishes to strike at us as well, and there are even those among us who fail to see the future of these lands!"

"LOOK THERE!" one of her men shouted, and she turned back and stilled as she saw a literal tidal wave rushing towards them, powerful enough to devour them all. The strength of that attack was at such a level that it confirmed the rumors that it was none other than the Mizukage himself leading the Kirir army.

Right now, she stood there with two hundred men; the other half she had sent West to protect against Iwa's incursion as their silver-haired benefactor tried to deal with those rebellious bastards of the Akatsuki.

But now they needed him, and he was not here.

Yet she could not give up. The Ame she had grown up in was one unsafe and destitute, always wallowing in fear of the Great nations, which had basically turned it into their playground, carrying out false flags against each other using their lands.

Hanzo, their lords and protector who had once dreamt of changing the world, joined hands with these men, allowing them to operate in their village for money and power.

And then in a bit over two months, he had changed it all. She had watched him, cleanse their lands of all those foreign invaders with her own eyes, watched as he had brought down the infamous Hanzo the Salamander to his knees, and for a moment it had felt that the dark clouds covering Ame had cracked. And now it was under threat once more.

And without him, it fell to her to stop these men, even at the cost of her own life.

"HOLD THE LINE!" she shouted.

"KATON AND DOTO…."

"That will not be necessary," suddenly, a calm and composed voice cut in from above, and she stilled as she recognized that voice.

And then she felt the tension in the air break, as four figures landed infront of her. Three of them wore that accursed cloak of the Akatsuki, those rebels who controlled the western portion of the village.

Yet in front of them was their leader, clad in a dark cloak, his silver hair drenched in rain and covered his face, as he looked towards her.

"You have done well, Shiori. But I will take it from here," he said as he stepped forward, and she recognized the three people who had arrived with him.

"You! You are the leader of the Akatsuki!" she shouted, angry and enraged; they had caused all that issue, and from some reports, they had joined hands with Konoha to bring down their leader.

"Yes," the orange-haired boy answered.

"Though I believe Akatsuki has been dissolved now," the red-haired boy added, making her frown, and then she finally noticed that all three of them now had headbands on their foreheads, headbands with Amegakure's hitai-ate.

"After today, we are shinobi of Amegakure," the purple-haired girl began as she slowly tapped her forehead protector.

"Yahiko…"
"Nagato…"
"…Konan no Ame, all shinobi of Amegakure led by him!" she said as she pointed towards their silver-haired leader.

"The Kage of Amegakure…"

"…Sharingan no Yūrei!" the girl named Konan announced, and she watched as their leader unwrapped the bandages around his eyes. They fell to the ground, and she stilled as he pulled up his hair, appearing unbothered by the tidal wave headed toward them.

And then she finally saw it: one of his eyes wasn't black like the other but shone a bright red in the darkness of Ame, spinning violently as his chakra rippled through the air.

THRUNG! THRUNG!

"KATON…." She heard him shout as his hands cycled through a set of hand seals before he stopped on the horse hand sign.

"…. MAJESTIC DESTORYER FLAME!"

In another corner of the same village, a snake slithered on the ground, stopping as it reached the remains of a cave that seemed to have only recently caved in, and then moments later, a shin obi stepped out of the shadow stepping up beside the small snake, which slithered up his leg, as he looked at the destroyed cave with glinting golden irises.

"So, this is where you were hiding for all these years…."

"Madara Uchiha!"

TSUNADE SENJU

The Fourth Hokage of Konoha found herself back in her office in front of none other than the last Kage and her sensei, as he appeared rather frustrated and enraged over her recent decision.

"So, our guess was right. The silver-haired shinobi was indeed Ohashi," he reiterated, and she nodded. She had returned first with their force still making the journey under the command of Shikaku, yet as Hokage, she couldn't stay away from the village for so long despite the village having her sense and Jiraiya to deal with any important matters.

"Yes," she replied and saw him frown as he raised his hand.

"Yet you let him stay in Ame, especially after all the effort you put in just to recover him. How could you do that?" he said sounding exasperated though he wasn't the first person to react like that, Shikaku had acted rather similarly.

"It was at his request, one which I found rather reasonable," she replied and saw her sensei's eyes narrow.

"You don't run a village like this, Tsunade," and she stilled. Did he really just say that.

Him! She was enraged as she frowned and spoke in a cold tone.

"You have no right to say that to me!" she spoke in a cold tone warning him of any further escalation, yet he refused to take the hint.

"I say that through experience. First you let Orochimaru leave the village and now this. This is extremely detriment…."

And that was enough. She let go of her chakra, and felt it rage across the room as she silently whispered.

"That is enough." She said as the whole room shook because of her chakra. Her own sensei looked her in the eye, refusing to budge.

"And letting Danzo operate with impunity was for the good of the village," she struck back and saw him relent as he gritted his teeth.

"I made a mistake, but…."

"But nothing," she said, cutting in.

"You are partly responsible for the ordeal Ohashi found himself in, and my decision to let him stay in Ame was not made out of a sense of guilt or faulty judgment. It was a decision based on several factors and reasons," she replied, shutting the door to this whole discussion.

And she was not even lying, yes she did have a soft corner for the grey haired Hatake boy, yet the descion had not been motivated by emotion. Ohashi's presence in Ame would help stabilize not only Ame but the whole continent, and if his intentions about changing the world as we know it was true, then who was she to stand in his path?

"And as far as Orochimaru is concerned, you share the blame for that as well. You and I both know of his association with Shimura and what he did for the man. How could I possibly trust him after that. This was the best way to settle this whole affair," she replied and saw her sensei's eyes narrow.

"You refuse to trust your own comrade, yet on the other hand, you put enough trust in a budding brat to let him not only stay but lead another whole village. Going so far as to change the terms of the alliance between the two villages," he complained, and she nodded.

"I do, and I don't owe you or anyone else any explanation for any of my decisions. Not until they become determinantal to this village," she replied rather coldly before she leaned back.

"Now, that will be enough. I have a lot of work to catch up on," she replied as she watched her sensei give her a nod as he stood up.

And as he reached the door, she called out once more.

"And sensei, the day I feel that my deskins have become a threat to this village," she said as he glanced back at her.

"I will step down the next second," she said and watched him walk out of her office, leaving her alone to sigh in the silence as she recalled the last conversation she had had with the grey-haired shinobi.

OHASHI HATAKE

Ohashi watched as the torrent of fire clashed with the massive tidal wave, encasing the whole clearing into a thick cover of smog. He could sense the Kiri forces coming to a halt as the massive jutsu was repulsed, as a single person moved forward, his chakra signature the most prominent amongst the whole nearly two hundred strong force.

Ohashi closed his eyes as he molded his chakra once more, and then as he took a step forward, the thick cloud of steam parted, separating into two columns as it cleared a straight and clear path for them.

"We are saved!" "He is here!"

He heard the forces of Ame celebrate behind him, yet though, unlike them, he wasn't so elated at the moment.

The man walking towards him, leading the Kiri forces, was none other than the Third Mizukage, Akihito Yuki, a man who was anything except ruthless.

He glanced back, flaring up his own chakra, and the commotion died down in an instant as he gave a simple command.

"Don't follow me," and as Shiyori tried to say something.

"That is an order," he said as he began to walk forward toward the Mizukage.

The Kiri forces were two hundred strong, and he was quite confident that he could take them on, yet the battle would be bloody, and right now, neither of the villages could afford any further loss of life.

So, the two of them came face to face, and he watched as the man's eyes first went to the red Sharingan in his eye.

"That eye, how do you possess that eye," he questioned in a sharp tone, and Ohashi raised a brow.

"It's a memento of someone who taught me the reality of this world," he replied, and it was answer enough.

"Why are you here, Mizukage, and why have you brought your forces to our border?" he questioned, looking the man in the eye. He was a head taller than him and held his gaze as he looked at him, up and down, trying to gauge him.

"So, you are the man who brought the infamous Hanzo to his knees, I must say you aren't what I expected," he uttered in a unbothered tone, and Ohashi didn't react as the man continued.

"And as for why I am here with my men, I believe there is only one answer tot hat question," he said as his chakra flared up, roaring and cackling, the very ground beneath their feet cracking as he let it rampage violently.

"And we both know what that is!" he finished, and Ohashi let go of his own chakra, and the ground between them tore up, as their chakras clashed violently, as either refused to back down.

"Ohh! So, you do have some bite in you," he said with a small smile, as Ohashi's eyes narrowed as he began.

"I have no desire for further bloodshed, Mizukage. It would be better for you if you pulled back your forces and returned to your village. This war has gone on for long enough, and enough blood has been spilled, let us stop it," he said in a cold tone, trying to warn the man.

"And what I don't," he teased as he took a step forward, and Ohashi's temper flared up. The man was testing him, and he increased the pressure of his chakra and felt it overpower the Mizukage's as sweat began to drip down the man's face.

"Then I shall slaughter you and your men. I shall show no mercy and kill and kill and kill until this whole area is basked in the blood of your men," he roared and saw the man's will falter at those words.

"You think you can beat me! Me, the Mizukage!" he snarled, and Ohashi looked him in the eye.

"None of the Five Kage have ever ventured into Ame, for they knew the consequences of facing Hanzo the Salamander, a man I slew. Do you really wish to test your mettle against me, especially when your allies have already pulled back," he said, trying to Ame the man see reason.

And he saw the man still at those words as his mind raced to realize the implication behind them. And then, when it clicked, he snarled angrily.

"Iwa!" he cursed the Village hidden in stone as he pulled back his chakra, yet his glare remained levelled at him.

"So, be it then," he said, and Ohashi gave the man a nod, as the man turned away from him, Ohashi's eye spun, the red in it lighting up as he turned his back on the man when suddenly he stilled as an Ice spear burst through his chest.

"LEADER!" he heard shouts as he glanced back and found the man staring at him.

"Ohnoki may be too scared to face someone like you, but I am not him. You do not scare me, you fool!" he said as a cruel smile appeared on his face, and Ohashi wished that the man had decided to listen to him.

Yet no matter, through the pain he opened his mouth as he spoke up.

"Ohnoki may or may not fear me," he began, and he watched as the man's eyes widened.

"But you should!" and then with that, his whole body dissolved into water as he appeared behind the man, his Sharingan spinning in his eye as he tried to cleave through the man's body.

Yet he was quick enough to dodge, though not quick enough as blood sprayed out of the man's arm as he jumped back, and his forearm fell to the ground with a thud.

"You!" he snarled angrily as mirrors of Ice surrounded them, forming a dome over them.

"You shall learn what it means to be the Mizukage," he snarled as he took a step back, vanishing inside one of the mirrors, his reflections now appearing all around him.

"Suiton: Thousand Needles of Death!" he shouted, as he was bombarded with a flood of needles, which he dodged, as the water rose up from the ground, dancing around him as it captured all the needles and then when the attack ended.

"I don't have time for this!" he said as his chakra flared up and rippled through his body as a green hue came over him.

"Shomon. KAI!"

Back near the cave of Madara, a squad from Konoha, led by none other than Minato Namikaze, landed, as the three-man elite unit came to a halt. And as the yellow flash rifled through the seemingly abandoned ruins,, he found no trace of what he had come looking for.

The body of Madara Uchiha was gone!

As the Yellow Flash faced this dilemma, his sensei found himself on Mt. Myoboku once more, as he stood in front of the Great Sage Toad, who seemed to be in a rather somber mood, something rather unlike the usually jovial toad who spoke up.

"The balance of the world has been disturbed. I Had a dream again last night," he spoke up. The white-haired satin perked up at those words.

"What did you see!"

"Death! I saw Death! Of Everything we know at the hands of the man who first bore eyes red as blood!"

Chapter 41

TERMUMI MEI

The orange haired kunoichi was tense much like the rest of Kiri forces as they watched their Mizukage come head to head with the infamous leader of Amegakure. For everyone knew, that things could escalate any second now.

They had all seen a hint of the man's prowess when the man had dismantled the Mizukage's water ninjutsu with his fire style, yet now as the two of them came head-to-head, she felt as if her whole existence was on a knife's edge.

Many in Kiri had been against mounting such offense, for Kiri unlike Konoha, Iwa and Kumo didn't boast a massive shinobi force, but relied on a much smaller more elite force. And their numbers had already taken a massive hit during the Great War. A war which was essentially over now, ending in what many concluded as a simple loss for them.

There were many voices in the village rising against the current Mizukage, blaming him for this whole scenario and she was quite sure that it was because of those very dissenting voices that the Mizukage-sama had decided to mount this attack on Ame, to try and salvage his reputation.

The pressure from their clashing chakras was massive and she could feel it ripple through the air even at such a distance as the Mizukage stood face to face with the leader of Ame.

"That man is dangerous, very dangerous," a voice from the side cut in. And it was none other than their vice commander, Ao-san.

"Why do you say that?" she questioned with a frown.

"His chakra, is very potent. I have never seen such mastery over chakra from any ninja, in a straight up fight I believe he could prove himself to be even stronger than Mizukage-sama," he whispered to her and she stilled at those words, for she was aware first hand just how powerful Yuki-sama was, but according to him, this man was even more powerful than him.

"Though it seems he is apprehensive about conflict, and lord Mizukage-sama have come to an accord," he said and she watched as the pressured lowered and the two men turned away from each other.

"Shit!" Ao was the first to curse up, and pale and she could tell why as she saw Mizukage-sama turn quickly, as an ice spike impaled the Ame leader.

And she could feel the very air still as the silver haired nin turned to face their Mizukage-sama.

"No matter what happened don't move!" Ao shouted halting he many zealous shinobi that were about to run forward.

And then it happened, the silver haired nin's body dissolved into water, before he suddenly appeared right above their Mizukage-sama, and brought down an water blade to cleave him in two.

It all happened in an instant and she watched, horrified as Lord Mziukage's arm fell to the ground, blood spilling from it dying the ground red.

"What the hell AO! Let us go!" Ameyuri Ringo shouted, and Ao-san didn't budge, his eyes narrowed at the scene infront of him.

She watched as a dome of ice mirrors appeared around them, obscuring their vision, as Juzo-san smirked from the side.

"Huh, it will all be over shortly," he replied as he pushed his blade into the ground, confident like much of their force. For they all knew of the legends, no shinobi till this day had ever walked out alive out of the mirror prison of Yuki-sama.

Yet she didn't miss the hint of nervousness in Ao-san, whose eyes remained focused on the battle, infront.

"KAI!" they heard a whisper, and they all stilled as a wave of ominous chakra rippled through the air. And she had had an inkling that she had felt a sensation similar to this before, but when?

Everyone was on edge, as the chakra rippled through the air, and then she watched as Ao-san gasped.

"Impossible," and just as she was about to question him, the Ice mirrors broke down, cracking and falling to the ground as her blood ran cold at the scene infront of her.

For right there infront of her was none other than the Mizukage-sama, on the ground, unmoving with blood spilt around his body, as the silver haired Ame nin stood above him.

And she could feel a sense of nervousness pass through their force as Ao-san voiced out.

"He is dead! Lord Yuki is dead," he gasped out, startled and shocked by his words.

And then she felt a shiver run down her spine as the silver haired nin looked towards them, his mismatched eyes piercing through the Kiri force.

"Your leader is dead, dead for he backed down out of an accord of peace," his vice rang out through the area. The Ame forces now had stepped forward as well, and four members of their force now stood right behind him, alert and poised for combat.

"I wished not to spill blood here, yet it seems my wish was not shared by your leader," his voice called out and she could see Ringo-san and Juzo san grit their teeth, as they looked at the Ame nin with narrowed eyes.

"I shall give you all the same choice, turn back and me and my forces shall not chase after you," he shouted.

And then a wave of chakra cut through their force bringing many of the novice genin and even chunin to their knees.

"Fight and this land shall become your graveyard!"

And sweat dripped down her face as she gulped down, and she could see Ao-san's mind race as he thought of his descion.

"Fuck you, you bastard!" Ameyuri-san was quick to shout in rage as she jumped forward.

"I will kill you," she shouted, as Juzo san rushed behind her as well, followed by Mangetsu as well.

And as she was about to join them as well, a hand from Ao-san stopped her, and the rest of Kiri force as well.

"No!" he shouted, commanding everyone to stand down.

"But Ao-sama…" some tried to complain.

"That is an order!" he cut in, sharply halting all complaints and soon enough it was revealed why.

For seconds after the three Kiri-nin rushed to pounce on the silver haired nin, they all died. In minutes, a wave of fear passing through the Kiri force at such display of prowess as the silver haired nin stood there and stared at them, apathetically, as blood dripped from his face.

"Anyone else?"

MINATO NAMIKAZE

"What do you mean the body is gone?" the fourth Hokage questioned him, and he nodded.

"It is as I reported, we scoured through the cave in detail. Yet there was no trace of Madara Uchiha's body there," he reported once more as he stood opposite to her, in her office.

"That is impossible, Ohashi only mentioned the location of the cave to me," she remarked before her eyes narrowed once more.

"Did you talk to him about this, and confirm that the location as accurate?" she questioned and he nodded.

"I did, and he said it was the same cave," he replied, and he could see her mind racing before she cautiously voiced out.

"Do you think he…" and he shook his head.

"I doubt that this was him, for he wouldn't have had the time. He was engaged with the Kiri forces on his Norther border, and couldn't have travelled to the cave," he replied and given that none apart from him and them was aware of the location of the cave, made this all a lot more suspicious.

"Then who?" she questioned with a frown and he shook his head.

"I have no idea, but whomever they are, they are now in the possession of a body that holds various Konoha secrets in it, secrets that I don't believe we would like getting out," he added and she nodded.

"Youa re right, that body cannot be allowed to remain out there like this," she concluded as she looked towards.

"So, until it is found I am making a special task force, one whose sole mission is to locate and recover Madara Uchiha's body," she said as she looked towards him.

"And you shall lead it yourself, Namikaze," she ordered him and he nodded.

"As you wish Tsunade-sama," he replied.

"Assemble a team at once, coordinate with Ohashi as well, I don't care what it akes. I want that body found."

"Understood!"

OROCHIMARU-The Snake Sanin

The Snake Sanin could feel his whole world view shift with every passing second as he delved into the secrets hidden inside the body of Madara Uchiha.

And how fascinating they all were, the man had come close to achieving immortality, even after his death hos body was rife with vitality and strength refusing to decay. No, actually it was mending itself, the cells in it imbibing the rich nature chakra from the air, as they revitalized.

It was fascinating, almost as if he was not entirely dead yet. The man had used the cells of the First Hokage, to modify his body and the effects were simply marvelous. He had tried experimenting with the cells of Hashirama Senju as well, grafting them into various subjects over the years yet everytime the result had been nothing but a failure.

With Lord Hashirama's cells overpowering and overcrowding the regular cells of the transplantee, their growth unnatural and uncontrolled.

Yet in this case they were in perfect harmony with him, becoming one with him.

"Fascinating," he remarked as he came stood Infront of the experiment pod where his body floated in a thick chakra rich fluid, and unlike a regular dead body it imbibed that chakra, using it to recover itself.

In the three months that he had had this body in his possession he had fed it nearly a tailed beast's worth of chakra, and the once withered remains of the greatest Uchiha ever were now as if it was the body of ninja in his prime.

"Just what were you Madara Uchiha? He said as he licked his lips, and with a final glance moved out of the room leaving the body all alone.

And then hours later, a massive chakra would rip through the lab as Madara Uchiha's closed eyes would open once more, a pair of Sharingan spinning in them, their pattern unlike that of Madara, a pattern not ever recorded in the clan files, yet it had appeared before.

Appeared in the eyes of none other than the first Uchiha.

Indra Uchiha.

'Where am I?'
