Shield Hero, but hopefully Heroic

[X] Are you fucking kidding me you piece of human garbage? Do you think you're strong?
Sometimes you just have to shieldbash a fucker.

For those who watch the show/read the LN (so, most people here, I expect), is the no-respect thing specifically targetted at the bearer of the Shield no matter who it is? I know the canon protag also ran into... issues.

OOC the state religion in Melomarc hate your guts. King hates you in particular because the Shield Hero are a religious figure in a country he fought a war with. Not everyone really believes you're trash but Aultcray deliberately stacked the odds against you before you were summoned. IC You can't really get a a hold of exactly what Aultcray feels about you but you know he dislikes you even though he seems to cringe and feel a bit of shame at said dislike.

Basically it's complicated.

[X] Haaa? And here I thought we were getting along so well. Blatantly confront the hostility in the room and rip the reasons out of them with words.

Hrrm. On the one hand?
We're Jesus to enemy nation, and thus not a person the King wants around.
On the other hand...Hero. Definitely powerful and they need power right now.

Frankly given our torn-up looks I think we might be able to showcase a degree of harsh behavior and get away with it on account of normal people don't get scarred up like we are. (Depending on the level of healing magic someone might wonder if we were a slave that got abused badly before we got summoned.) Seems to play well with just how scary/shocking we're looking to folks in the court.

[X] Shikata ga nai. It cannot be helped, you can suffer this indignity after all, you can still exploit him for resources.
-[X] Storm out after you got resources and basic information.

As long as we don't fall for any of Malty's traps, we'll be fine. We need the early resources to buy shit and either slaves or mercs if we want to level up. Though, it'd be good to unlock the Shield of Wrath or any of the Curse Series, and I think the red option pushes towards that. Still, there is no way to confirm, so let's play along for now.

Yeah, let's get this out in the open, maybe get the other heroes on our side from the start.

By the way. We're not gonna go the slave route.

Because of OOC reasons and IC reasons.
Slavery is icky and its handled specifically for Naofumis brand of trauma and its sort of handled like a fetish thing.

You're not Naofumi, you are built on sterner foundation and not fit mention that most of the slaves you could afford in universe realistically are your age which will fuck you up.

Basically slavery exists, it sucks shit. I know that in a meta way its a resource you want to explore and exploit to get ahead but consider the way it'd reflect on the character and us in control of the quest.

Slavery is there as a plot hook to explore or you can make us avert our eyes but the whole point of the quest was to rise to the task of heroism (which you guys are diligently following so far) or shrink your duties to secure a stable survival, or hell return to Tokyo.

Just wanted you guys to get that so you guys don't accidentally go all fucked up on me and drive the quest at Slavery full sail ahead.

I know nothing about Shield Hero but this seems cool so far. Anyone willing to give me the run down on some of the important bits?

I'd say TL:DR imagine being savior of the same country that is revolted at your presence to the experience we're in for. It's funtimes for us because they'll cheap on giving us mercs to fight with, money to get gear with, and possibly sub-par teachers. It's funtimes for them because they still gotta suck up to us and if we leverage their desperation right we can take them for quite a ride (A.K.A convince them to support us as much as the other heroes which is not a little bit, but without the gratitude on their end to make it something they don't mind doing.) Plus, all the fun of dealing with people from another culture and some INTERESTING views on some aspects of their culture (Slavery is bad peoples! Said by all four heroes this time since Nao isn't here to need a Slave to be attached to him for reasons.)

Well, other than the initial aproach Naofumi had towards Raphitalia (seriously, he thought she looked like Malty and wanted to make her suffer) he later on becomes quite a good master in terms of master/slave relationship, and by the time the FIRST wave ended (1 month, i think) she actively wanted to continue being a slave (well, more because that was the only way Naofumi would trust her with his PSTD, but still...). Later on he makes a demi-human town in a racist country. Sure, filled with his slaves, but pretty much sure that they were treated even better than normally.

But still, as long as the option to recruit some mercenaries/adventurers at the start appear and it's not an obvious trap i'm all for it. In preference an old guy with experience and another newbie.

Pretty sure there are slaves out there that remind Sakura of Saki. The owners of those better pray Sakura doesn't come across them.

Going with the more passive route, since we can sense that some of the court officials are deeply ashamed and contemplative. We could find them afterwards and find out more, rather than whatever excuse the King would throw out if we confront him now.

Plus our awareness is our strongest field, let's see what we can glean first before we make our move.

People who can't let go of their pride don't tend to survive.

So one of my major goals for this quest is to basically punch every slave trader we met in the face, along with the people that oppose the punching of slave traders.

Sure, I can do that. Did you want information about the plot, or about the world itself?

MC just said the locals revealing their cards was dumb. We shouldn't copy them.

I prefer the other one that make the others realise the reality they're in.
