Secrets of the Arcane (Warcraft Mage Quest)

I want us going down the Blood Mage route because we have the common sense needed to have Kael'thas restore the Sunwell immediately upon acquiring M'uru.

I don't think Kael actually knew M'uru could even do that. Besides, by that point, he's already full blown Saturday morning cartoon evil and insane.

Possibility of Preventing the insanity of Kael is to good to ignore. And I Really want to prevent his insanity. He was one of my favorite characters from WC3. His level of Snark and well meaning towards everyone was pretty awesome to witness.

of course, it was either this or being high up in the Cult of the Damned. I'm actually flip flopping here, anyone feel like making a good argument one way or another?

No he's not. We could be his anchor. Once we have Illidan's vial of eternity and M'uru staying in Outland is pointless. We could use M'uru's energy to purify the Well from Kel'thuzad's corruption and then use the vial and Anveena to fully charge the well. Once Arthas is dead we're golden in restoring the kingdom.

Anything else is secondary.

If we go Necromancer>>>Lich we could even go Forsaken or totally independent entirely. Not saying we should or will, just mentioning it as an option.

Since you're playing a High Elf, I'll even give you the option of becoming either the San'layn Blood Queen or a Lich.

Why would anyone want to go Necromancer and be a mental slave to the Lich King or worse, live a horrible existence as a free Forsaken. Either way we'll be hunted into extinction by the living.

High ranking members of the Cult of the Damned retain their free will upon 'ascending' into undeath. They can hear the Lich King in their mind but they are given a lot of freedom in how they pursue their work as long as they remain even slightly loyal to the Lich King. They can even scheme and plot to usurp each other and sabotage each other's plans as long as they don't do anything too crazy like blow up Naxxramas to kill Kel'Thuzad.

The thing is, most members of the Cult of the Damned are just cannon fodder who will be raised into mindless ghouls if they die. The few important ones will become liches and other stuff, who get a massive piece of the Lich King's magical power and gain immortality. Even most necromancers never reach that level, but you aren't going to be playing a run of the mill cultist.

If you choose the necromancer route, you'll actually be one of the founding members of the cult and Kel'Thuzad's apprentice, so expect good things if you don't get yourself killed too early.

Necromancers are scorned by everyone, even our own King would think of us as nothing.

Does Blood Mage have anything unique going for it abilitywise? What exactly does that Secondary: Demonology do for us anyways?

Blood Mages get three Verdant Spheres which are kinda like mana batteries that contain fel magic. They use that fel magic to power their spells and get 'chaos' damage which ignores all defenses and is the only thing that can hurt 'divine' type creatures that would normally be indestructible.

They can also tap the spheres for mana to alleviate magic addiction, which is going to be an important part of the quest.

Demonology means summoning and banishing demons.
