AN: I thought of this after reading Dungeon Keeper Ami, and thought what would happen if one of my favorite characters went into her original world. So with the power of google, I now know the setting (using anime version because manga is too OP) and made this. You don't need knowledge of either side of the crossover to be in this quest, although it will be a full merge of the settings. Hopefully I don't write myself into a hole that I can't continue like my previous quests, but I've got plans to avoid that.

The basic premise here is Sauron reforms slightly before the events of the first season. He then meddles with things.

To answer some questions I am sure will be asked:

For the whole good/evil thing, remember, Sauron is evil and therefore antithetical to the Sailors… but Crystal Tokyo (one person with absolute rule, everyone joining their side or being killed, complete peace and order) sounds a lot like what Sauron wants, so although he couldn't know that would happen, you aren't going to be forced to be the Sailors' enemy or ally. In fact, if you want, you could ignore them completely and do your own thing.

The LOTR books do exist in this world, but since this takes place in Tokyo, they won't be mentioned unless you openly call yourself Sauron or some American nerd figures it out.

Many years after you were defeated, from your ring being destroyed by that cursed hobbit, you begin to reform. You were but a dark wisp before, but ambient magic is somehow being produced in a form you can take.

This is different than the power your old master Morgoth left in the Earth which you used to make use of. You thought this could not be: Eru, he who created the world, and your enemy, is the only source of power, and it is impossible for one corrupted by Morgoth to take it. But it seems that mere humans can generate power now. This bodes well for your future plans, especially if you can figure out how it works.

Despite this, you remain intangible for many years. You have little power, and taking ambient magic from the air is difficult. But eventually you grow in power. You are weak, but strong enough to manifest in human form–missing only your right index finger. You enter a town and begin to spy on the humans while staying there after manipulating the lord of the land. It seems to be similar to the towns of humans in the third age, although with much greater magics.

It seems that no one has even heard of races other than humans too. Most likely, orcs were hunted to extinction, the elves left, and the dwarfs dug too deep to ever be seen again. Despite the loss of orcs, you think this is an overall good thing. No more meddling with your affairs.

It is here you learn that there are humans who now live on Isil, the moon! What madness, you think, of the first man to mention it. Tilion, the guardian of the moon, would not let them, and since he is strong enough to fend off Morgoth he could surely beat mere men.

But unless if the small town you arrived in all went insane, it seems true. What potential of these men! What marvels that they have made to attain even the ability to reach Isil, let alone defeat Tilion! Though it is possible that the fool simply let them live there.

It is on your third day there that you hear of it. The Earth was invading the moon. The chaos war would bring can only be good for your plans, you think. It will allow you to take control and restore order. You couldn't be more wrong.

A vast wave of energy sweeps across the earth, killing you once more along with everyone else. You rage. How dare they kill you when you were just starting to come back! How dare they?!

It is useless though. You will have to wait to reform, now with much less ambient magic that you can absorb. You rage does not lessen for years.

Many years later…

You finally have the energy to reform. You have gathered through observation that you are in a city known as Tokyo, and you have an understanding of how to use modern technology and how to speak Japanese. You are eager to learn how to create these new devices humanity has created, such as the 'car' and the 'telephone'.

Magic is not completely unknown either, despite seeming being replaced by this electricity. You can sense power in quite a few people in the city, though you do not know if they use it. The individuals are a seven young females, four young males, an old man, and surprisingly enough three cats.

You have also seen some sorts of monsters taking energy from humans. If you could learn this technique, you could regain your power much faster. As it is, your power gain is negligible. Alternatively, you could just take the energy from them. Or get people to do it for you.

In any case, you must decide on your next course of action now.

You do not start with all your abilities, because it would be too complicated and because you have only just incarnated. You will naturally regain your abilities over time: I have a full list of them. For write-in, you can choose a related ability Sauron has if you know one, or I will choose for you.
Options:

[] Transform into a cat. You are, after all, Tevildo, Lord of Cats, and cats are common around here. It will make spying easy. You are able to speak in this form. However, you will need to spend power if you wish to shift back to a humanoid form. (Learn Shapeshifting)
(The cat part)

[] Go into your Annatar, Lord of Gifts, form. This is a fair, elvish form that will make diplomacy easy with others. However, elves do not exist here and others may become suspicious of you. (Learn Bewitching Voice)

[] Go into your Sauron, The Abhorred, form. You will be physically powerful in this form, and will make others fear you. You will not have your armor or weapons until you make them, though. Any diplomacy done in this form other than through fear is pretty much a lost cause. (Learn Inspire Fear)

[] Write-in

You must also decide your first move.

[] Go to one of these sources of power you sense. They could make a good ally… or servant. (I roll to see which one you go to)

[] Go to one of the monsters you have sensed and try to take the energy it has gathered or if possible make it your servant.

[] Try to secure an apartment to live in. You do not need to eat or sleep, but if you can manage to either find the money to rent an apartment or simply convince them to give it to you then it could greatly help your cover.

[] Write-in

Finding a Teenage Girl
[x] Transform into a cat. You are, after all, Tevildo, Lord of Cats, and cats are common around here. It will make spying easy. You are able to speak in this form. However, you will need to spend power if you wish to shift back to a humanoid form. (Learn Shapeshifting)
[X] Go to one of these sources of power you sense. They could make a good ally… or servant. (I roll to see which one you go to)

Your mind made up, you begin incarnating yourself.

In a back alley, outside the sight of men, a black smoke condenses. It whirls around and towards a center point, a tornado without an eye. Eventually it stops, and there is nothing but a large black cat in its place.

"Meow," you say, walking out the alley. It is time to begin your plans.

You decide it would be best to get some servants first. You first need someone of sufficient power to aid you. You almost go for one of the weaker ones you had found, but decide they wouldn't have the power to truly affect things. As you wander looking for one, you consider the chances this many people with great power would be in a single city. Perhaps it is a meeting place from all across the country.

Or, worryingly enough, it could be that the magic from last time you reincarnated has not diminished but instead is concentrated in fewer people. This might mean that every major city could have a dozen people who are very powerful.

Random encounter?
Roll: 27, Req 90 = None

Eventually you notice one of them inside a building called a Junior High, a sort of educational system for young humans. How inefficient of them, you think, teaching everyone instead of just those who will need it for their labor.

You wait outside it until a bell rings and students come pouring out. One teenage girl who is significantly taller than the rest–though still quite short–exits the building. You can see her Fëa, her soul, shine brighter than the rest of the children's Fëar combined. She clearly has power, more than even most of the Noldor, who are the High Elves and whom were your most persistent enemies.

You stalk her as she leaves the school alone. As a teenage girl, she should be easy to manipulate. Your studies of this world have revealed that all young females like small mammals such as cats. You walk out in front of her.

"Meow." The brown-haired girl looks down and sees you.

"A cat? How strange." She continues on. Just as planned.

"Meow," you say walking beside her. You repeat yourself, and she looks down again.

"Stop following me."

"Meow," you disagree.

She glares at you, then continues her way to a large building.

It is not as tall as your old tower, but it is still much larger than any building built in the Third Age, when your ring was destroyed, which is only further proof that technology will be very useful for your plans if it has helped humans accomplish this much.

She enters a elevator and you follow her inside.

"Shoo! I don't know the policy on pets, but I don't have time to take care of a cat."

You stare at her. "Meow." The elevator doors close. It will not be long now before she succumbs.

"Well, it doesn't look like he has flees. I guess a little while won't hurt." She mutters to herself.

The elevator opens, and she steps out quickly followed by you. She enters one of the doors, before turning around.

"Want some milk?" She asks, bending down and seemingly looking at you with pity. You enter her apartment and look around. What a shameful place to live for someone so powerful.

She pours some milk into a bowl and puts it on the floor. However undignified it may be, you haven't had any food in millennia, and need to keep your cover besides, so you lap it up.

"I really don't have time to take care of a cat… I guess I can just get him out tomorrow," she mutters to herself. It seems she is still resisting. Well, you did not take over Numenor* in a day after all, these things take time. You can simply sneak back in to continue spying on her if she tries to kick you out.

She then sits down at a table and takes a book out. You jump up onto the table to see what she is reading. As you lie down, she begins to pet you. Good, that means she is getting attached.

Hopefully the book details mechanics, though that is admittiably unlikely. More likely is that it relates to her studies, hopefully including this world's magic.

It does not take long for you to realize it is a story. Not even a story detailing history: It is fiction. And the only conflict in the book seems to be two characters loving each other. What a useless book. This does not bode well for her prospects of being a useful servant. You stalk away, causing the girl–whose name you still need to learn–to look up, startled. She goes back to reading soon enough though.

You begin exploring the apartment. She may have something related to her magic here. It would be good to get information on her before revealing yourself, and to decide if you even should reveal yourself to her.

Annoyingly, it does not appear she has anything important. It is a rather small apartment, and you search through the rooms finding nothing interesting. That in itself is interesting.

Eventually you start smelling food. You run into another room and notice she has started cooking. She seems to enjoy it. If cooking well is all she uses her power for, you will be greatly disappointed**.

"Hey there little guy," she says as she finishes cooking and puts her food on the table. She gives you a little piece of chicken which you eat. She seems to examine you more closely.

"You're missing a claw?"

You internally rage. How dare she mention that permanent wound, from when your ring was cut off and your power went into decline. But you manage to stay outwardly calm.

"Meow."

She goes back to eating. You consider what to do next whilst she does so. Eventually she finishes, and gets some papers out from her bag she brought back from her school. Finished with your immediate plans, you act.

[] Talk to her. You do not need a human form for this. (Learns Bewitching Voice, costs 10 P per use)
-[] Convince her to serve you, still calling yourself Tevildo Lord of Cats.

--[] Optional: Write-in what you need it for.

[] Sneak out to get an army… of cats. (Learn Invest Will, which allows you to command minions from afar)
-[] At night
-[] During the next day

[] Sneak out to spy on the monster gathering energy. Hopefully you will be able to learn how it does it. (Learn Inspire Fear)
-[] At night
-[] During the next day

[] Follow her to her school. (Learn Illusion)

[] Find another of the people with great power. (Learn Illusion)

[] Write-in

*This refers to when Sauron got captured as a prisoner of war by a kingdom of basically super-humans and then became the Kong's most trusted advisor, converted them to worshipping Morgoth (Similar to the Devil), and doing human sacrifices, forcing Eru (God) to sink their island killing most of them.

**In the LotR verse the distinction between using magic and mundane tasks (usually some sort of craft) is blurry. There isn't really a difference between being very skilled at something and using magic.

AN: You can add the use of any ability in any of the plans to modify it, such as creating a more human form to talk to her in. The options I give you are mostly just suggestions.

[x] Talk to her. You do not need a human form for this. (Learns Bewitching Voice, costs 10 P per use)
-[x] Trick her into thinking you need her help
--[x] Say that you sense a great power within her and that a great danger is coming.
--[x] say that you are here because you are seeking to recruit her to battle agaist a coming darkness in order to manipulate her into your service

You jump up on the table and face her. Looking at her paper, it seems to be work for her school. You spot her name at the top: Kino Makoto*.

"Kino, I, Tevildo, Lord of Cats, require your aid," you say. She gets up, and looks around. She clearly does not realize it is you. "Yes, I am talking."

"I must be dreaming," she says. Well, you suppose one does not meet a talking cat every day.

"No, you're not dreaming. This is real, and I need your help." She starts pinching herself for some reason. Humans are so strange.

"Well, I guess I'll play along, if this is a dream. What do you need my help with?" she asks.

"A great danger is approaching. I came to you because I sensed great power in you. I wish to recruit you to battle against a coming darkness."

"Great power? Coming darkness? This sounds like a bad anime plot line. I'm really not anything special." So she is still hiding it? Or perhaps…

"I can see your Fëa, which you would call your soul. It burns brightly. I know you are powerful, it cannot be hidden. Besides, surely you have noticed how much taller and stronger you are than everyone else. This is outward proof of your power."

"My soul? Power? I don't know what you are talking about." She stands up and starts looking around, presumedly for a weapon. It appears that she does not know about magic. That is even better; you can teach her and assure her loyalty to you.

"You may be unaware of your power. This is acceptable; I can teach you how to use magic. But I still need your help. Will you trust me? Will you grant your aid to me? Do not think this is without reward." You put power into your voice. It has a smooth melodious flow, enticing the listener to agree.

Roll: 22 + 50 = 72, Req 40 = Success

"Fine, I'll help with this great danger of yours. I don't know why but… I feel like I need to. Like it's destiny." She looks at you directly while saying this. Ha! She is mistaking your magic for destiny. Very nice.

"You have my thanks." You pause for a moment. "If you are to help me against the darkness, you will need to be in combat. Do you know of a secluded area I can teach you a basic offensive spell?" As much disbelief as she had before, you doubt she will wake up without thinking it was a dream, especially if you are not there. If you get her to do magic herself that will skip her disbelief, and you need her to be competent in a fight if she will serve you anyhow.

You would teach her how to create fear, but it might put her off at this point, so you decide to go with a spell that should still allow her to be useful in combat.

Does she know? Roll: 78, Req 40 = Success

"I know where an abandoned house is nearby," she responds. Hmm, good. That should suit your purposes. That said though…

"You should get a mask of some sort. I do not want you to be in danger." It would be bad if your enemies, and surely you will have some, attacked your current residence.

"I've got some sunglasses." She walks over to a drawer and takes some tinted glasses out. She also puts a baseball cap on. Not exactly the best of disguises, but you suppose it will have to do for now. You do not plan on being seen. That said, if she does get caught and forced on the run, she will be forced to rely on you which would ensure her loyalty.

You look around the room once more before leaving. So many plants, how annoying. They really are everywhere. It reminds you of Yavanna, the Vala (Goddess/angel) of growing things, and one of your old enemies. It is best not to get distracted now, though.

"Then let us go. Come!" You walk over to the door and wait for her to follow. She takes the lead now, walking to the elevator so you can leave the building.

"We'll have to take the bus. Here, I'll carry you." Well, it is only proper you to not have to walk. You jump into her arms and she walks to the bus stop.

Random Encounter: Roll 53, Req 90 = none

You end up sitting in the back of the bus, and luckily no one talks to you. After a time, Kino gets up and she heads off the bus. Eventually you reach a large dilapidated house that is completely overgrown with weeds. You suppose this will do nicely, despite the chaos.

"Let us go inside so we are hidden from sight," you command her. You jump off her arms and stride towards the doors. She lets you inside, and the two of you find a large room that was presumedly the old living room.

"I will be your teacher now. We will begin with a simple spell."

You search through your memories for something weak. You recall a basic spell that would cause an explosion at a distance**. That will be good enough. For a normal acolyte, you would have to spend years teaching them how to access the dark power Morgoth left in the earth before he was defeated. For this one though, using her own power should be instinctual, especially for something as crude and inelegant as this.

"See the world as it is. Now, you must enforce your will on it. Feel your power swell up from inside, and make it exist in front of you. Then push it forward." You reach out to her metaphysically to show her how.

Roll to learn: 74, Req 60 = Success

"Mana Blast!" Her blast heads toward a couch and explodes, causing many pieces of the couch to go flying everywhere.

"Very good! You did great. You do not have to shout out the name, however." She beams at your praise, then looks annoyed.

"Saying the name seems right," she insists. You decide not to press it for now, but it will be important to correct later.

"For now, try to practice a few more times before we leave. You should be able to use it pretty fast."

A few destroyed household objects later, the two of you leave the house. She gets back on another bus, and you return to her apartment building.

Once back in her apartment, she notices her papers at her desk.

"I forgot to do my homework!" She seems panicked, quickly sitting down and starting to write on a sheet of paper. She had brought it back from her school earlier, and looking at it, it appears to be educational work. It must be practice for her schooling.

You decide to nap while she does her homework, since even you need sleep. You curl up on her bed and fall asleep.

A while later, you are woken up. It seems she has changed into night clothes and is preparing to sleep as well.

"Goodnight Tevildo." She yawns, and goes under her covers.

You still have much to be done, however. You could stay well rested by sleeping, but as a Maia you do not necessarily need as much sleep as a mortal so you could work through the night. There is also he matter of getting delayed and her waking up to find you gone.

*That is the civilian name of Sailor Jupiter, who is one of Sailor Moon's friends later on in the series. She typically uses lightning attacks.

** The spell is basically Gandalf's fireworks going forward instead of up, if you were wondering where I got the idea from. Except, of course, without the explosions looking pretty.

Cats and Cat
Seems like it is a landslide vote.

[X] Find where the stray cats live so you can later gather them into an army.

You wait for Kino to fall asleep, then uncurl and head towards the door. You use your unnatural strength to jump at the doorknob, twisting it as you fall and causing it to slight open. You push it a little more open then slip out.

Then you look at the staircase, and then the elevator. You make your choice.

You jump up and hit the down arrow next to the elevator. It takes a few seconds, but the elevator door opens. Next time you get the chance you do wish to study this mechanism. In any case, you enter and then jump to hit the first floor key. The doors close, and you begin to descend.

Once on the first floor, you head towards the entrance. This time though, you avoid the door and instead jump onto one of he windows. You push it open, then jump outside the building.

Excellent. You can now begin. You begin walking around the city, looking for stray cats. Strangely, there does not seem to be very many. You run around all sorts of alleyways, but cats are no where to be found. You knew you saw cats before you had taken form, you only need to find them.

Search: 76, Req 30 = Success

You enter various alleyways around the district, getting quite a bit away from Kino's apartment. These are normally where you would expect to find the cats sleeping, but perhaps your assumption was wrong. This is not the terrain you are used to dealing with cats in, after all.

After around an hour or so, you finally find them. A horde of dozens of cats in an alleyway. That does not make any sense, that is definitely not normal cat behavior. Cats are solitary creatures, not pack animals. You know this as a fact.

Yet it seems that they are acting as a pack. They are in a large group, so tight that they are practically touching each other and fill the alleyway. Why they are not attacking each other, you do not know. And how do they get enough food? How are they not accidentally hitting into each other?

In any case, you suppose this is lucky. They would make a good army if they were not domestic cats, though they will still make good spies.

You will have to see if you can investigate this at some point anyway. It is likely a result from being in the city, you think, as the last time you were with cats major cities as dense as this one did not exist.

You begin to walk up to them. Suddenly, they all turn to stare at you. Then they start running, presumedly to run you over and drive you away from their territory, as territorial creatures are wont to do.

That is certainly not going to happen.

You project your presence outward, letting them feel your power and your rightful place as lord of cats. They try to stop, but the momentum of those behind each of the cats pushes them forward until they almost reach you.

You stare at the first in the eyes. She looks down in submissiveness. Next, you do the same to the other cats. They naturally respect you as their proper liege, and you are free to command them.

You tell them to be on the watch for the monsters' activity in stealing energy from people. Without a proper link it is likely they will not be able to completely know what you mean. However, you do not have your full powers back yet, so you do not put your will into controlling them yet.

The sun will be rising soon, and you wish to be there when the Kino girl wakes up so you can cement her loyalty to you. You leave, sure that you can check in on them later and perhaps strengthen the servile bond that ties them to your service.

You move out of the alley, and begin to head back to the apartment.

Random Encounter: 97, Req 60 = Encounter Luna. (Other possibility was Rhett Butler or no one)

While on the road, you cross paths with another black cat, though this one has a crescent shaped yellow fur on her forehead. This cat also has a strangely powerful fea (soul), much brighter than the other cats. Suddenly, she begins to look around.

"An evil presence! I need to find the Sailors quick," she says to herself quietly.

Wait.

Did that cat just talk? You need to get to the bottom of this.

"Did you just speak?" Direct, in this case, you think is the best. It will also keep her from running away from that evil presense, which is probably you, by forcing her into a confrontation. Interesting that she can sense 'evilness' though. How does she define evil?

"Did you just speak?" She responds, seemingly gobsmacked. How strange, for a talking cat to by surprised by another.

"Of course I did. I am Tevildo, lord of cats. Who might you be?" It would be best to be polite.

"I'm Luna. What are you doing here? How can you speak? You don't look like a moon cat…" she looks at you warily. You suppose moon cat refers to the crescent shape on her forehead. That means that there are more talking cats than just her, and explains why she was surprised you could talk as you do not have the crescent symbol. That could be useful.

"I can speak because I am the lord of cats. I have come here to gather support to fight against a coming darkness. There are more of you talking cats? Where do you come from and what are your plans?" It is best to keep to one story, you think, although it is unlikely that Kino will ever meet this Luna. Answering her demands is harmless enough and will hopefully give you information.

"Yes, all moon cats can speak. You know, I've also come here to gather forces to fight an evil. What is the name of who you fight?" The name of those I fight? Well, the best lies have a grain of truth…

"I fight the Order of the Istari. They have come from a far away land, not reachable by land or sea, to destroy the progress humanity has made. I have reason to believe they already have agents here. I do notice you avoided my questions. Who are you?" You avoid locking yourself into saying the recent monsters are enemies or potential allies, as you can easily say they are or are not the enemies you speak of later. It is best to keep your options open, and your lies secure.

"I also fight evil. Do you know of the Dark Kingdom?" She seems almost hopeful here.

"I do not. I presume those are whom you fight?"

"Yes. Now, I must go. I have no time to waste." This is clearly an excuse as she was not seeming to be in such a hurry earlier, but she still runs off.

You are about to chase after her, when you see the sun begin to rise in the east. It is a new day. If you are to return to Kino's apartment so you are still there when she wakes up, thus possibly furthering her bond to you, you will need to head there now. On the other hand, with another talking cat around, you may want to cement the loyalty of the stray cats to you.

‘Bonding’
Looks like another landslide vote.

[x] Return to the apartment so you will be there when Kino wakes up. (Learn Magic Blast)

You decide it would be best to return to the apartment. You take one final look over at Luna, then run off yourself in your own direction.

You at first walk on the streets alone. It is still early, but eventually others begin to show up on the streets.

You eventually reach the apartment building. You jump in the window and pull it closed behind you. You walk over to the elevator, jump, and hit the up button. The elevator opens, and you calmly walk inside.

No one else gets on: 71, Req 40 = Success

The elevator opens on your floor. You walk out and into Kino's apartment, pushing the door closed once inside. You walk over to her room to check that she is still asleep.

She is. You jump onto the bed, and then curl up. You may as well get some sleep while you can, so you take a nap as well.

You wake up to an alarm, Kino slamming it off and sitting up. She looks down and sees you.

"Last night really did happen," she says softly. She starts petting you and you let her.

"Indeed."

"I still can't believe it's really real. It seems so crazy."

"I am sure you will get used to it," you say reassuringly.

"You said you wanted my help fighting magical evil, right? How strong are they? I mean, I'm strong, but if they are on the level of what you taught me yesterday I'm not sure that will matter."

"Kino, you did great last night. With my guidance, I am sure you will be fine. "

"Just call me Mako, all my friends do." She is growing familiar with you. That is good. That said, who are her friends? You do not want her to be a potential leak.

"Do you have many friends?" She gives off a nervous laugh.

"Well, I get thrown out of schools a lot for fighting, so I'm new at my school again. Other girls are wary of my reputation, so I don't get a lot of friends. Except for my old love, the guy who broke my heart…" She gets a glazed look in her eyes when she says the last part.

No social support? Very excellent. It does seem she is still pining after someone she used to like, which while unlikely could cause future complications.

"I will be your friend. You can count on me."

"I need to start getting ready. May I have some privacy?"

"Of course." You get up and leave the room for her to change into day clothes. You walk over to the window and jump onto it to get a good look. It is not the best view, but it is a view nonetheless of the city. You look over at it. It will eventually be yours, along with the rest of the world. For now, though… you jump off the windowsill.

You look over at the plants covering the room. The room really has too much green. You prefer solid black much better. It is smooth and continuous and clean. Plants are way too chaotic, and your enemies like them too much. The things you must deal with…

Not sure what else to do, you just wander around the apartment while Kino gets ready. You make use of your time thinking.

You really could use a forge. Your rings were a marvelous success with the race of men; perhaps you could give the girl one of them to boost her powers. Your rings were excellent at strengthening men's strengths… and their weaknesses. Both are advantageous.

Without the One* you could not use it to actually control her very easily, of course, but it could still be useful. Sadly, you need an area seeped in your power and useable as a forge to create it, which you sorely lack. You could also make weapons such as Morgul Blades with it, which is lethal given time to any it strikes and turns them into a wraith.

It seems Kino has finished getting ready, and is making her lunch. You walk over to her.

"You enjoy cooking?"

"Yes, it's one of my passions. I want to own a bakery shop when I'm older."

"You are very good at it," you encourage her. Humans like to be complemented. "I enjoyed the chicken last night."

"Oh, you're welcome." She puts her food in her lunch box then gets her backpack.

"Well, I'll have to be leaving for school now," she says to you.

"I have things to do today as well. I will come with you outside, you reply.

"What kind of things?"

"I have to search for the enemy so they do not catch us off guard," you lie. She nods her head in affirmation.

"Make sure not to speak while we are leaving the building," she tells you as if you would make such an amateur mistake. Not that her not knowing how skilled you are at deception is bad thing. She seems unlikely to suspect you of tricking her at this point.

"Of course."

You go in the elevator together. However, partway down it opens and a man steps in. He looks disapprovingly up at Makoto and down at you.

"Cats don't belong in apartment buildings young girl, especially not when they aren't on a leash." You suppose he does not like cats. You hope that does not mean that the apartment does not allow pets, though. That would be inconvenient for you.

"I'll take that in mind," she replies. She is saved from further conversation by the door opening, and she hurries out into the lobby. She leaves the building, with you close behind.

Once outside, you split your separate ways, with her going to her bus and you walking in the street to your next destination.

Spying on a Monster
[X] Go to the cats you saw earlier to see if they have found the monsters yet.
-[X] Go to and spy on it.

You saunter through the streets, casually walking to your destination. The cats you had met the other day should still be congregating in the same spot as before, so you will get the most information by going there.

It is a much faster trip than last night despite moving slower, as you already know where you are headed.

You reach the alleyway they have made their central territory. One of them walks up to you with information. You stare into her eyes, and get the information the cats have found.

Did they find the monster? 28, Req 60 = Failed

You metaphorically look through the information… there is much information about their turf war with another cat gang. Apparently your cats drove some of the other cats off their hunting grounds. Interesting, but not very relevant, unless you wish to expand your cat forces.

Apparently someone fainted in the market earlier today, but it seems to be mundane rather than caused by a monster. You will remember to check there anyway.

How useless. They have not found anything truly of use. Not that it is much of a surprise; it is not like they can detect monsters like you can, they are only able to look to see if any humans are being fatigued in large groups, which has not happened today.

You consider investing some power into improving their usefulness. If you do invest your power into controlling them, then they will be more coordinated, thereby gathering more information. You would no longer have to waste time traveling to them to receive reports, like you have today. You consider doing it now, but decide not to due to your currently weak state.

You decide that if you are to find anything, you will have to search for it yourself. You begin walking the streets, carefully looking at each person's fëa, checking to make sure they have one. This is certainly a novel experience, and you do not have a lot of those. You are more used to your allies lacking fëar, mostly Morgoth's creations, and your enemies having them.

Before you incarnated yourself, you had noticed that the monsters lacked a fëa, their soul, so presumedly they are created by someone rather than being born naturally. After all, only Eru, he creator of all and your despised enemy, can grant a soul to a being.

Since you can see into the Unseen, the spirit realm, you can tell whether a human has a fëa and therefore is a monster or not. This allows you to quickly check whether someone is a monster in disguise or not.

How long does it take for you to find the monster: 46, Req 20, 40, 60, 80 = 3 Hours

You keep traveling around the streets, but everyone seems normal for now. You spend a few hours checking various streets, but it is no use. This city truly is marvelously large.

You are walking past a jewelry shop when you finally catch an anomaly. A red haired woman in a purple dress is selling jewelry. Normally that is not so strange, jewelry shops usually do sell jewelry after all, but she lacks a fëa; she is soulless. She must be one of the monsters.

You stay outside for some time waiting to see if she does anything, but her act as a human is fairly good. She does not do anything strange that you can tell.

You sneak into the shop. It seems she is selling the jewelry for cheap to dozens of people. They are clamoring all over the place and making a racket. It is very unlikely they even notice you, and would probably not care if they did.

This must be apart of part of her plan to take energy from the humans, as you can see some of them starting to get tired. Although, that may be normal fatigue from shopping for hours. There is no need to be hasty. You decide you need a closer look.

You jump up onto one of the counters away from the monster, taking a necklace in your mouth. You quickly flee the building and head to a nearby alley. You begin to examine it with both your great magical prowess and your skills from being an artificer.

Learn: 88, Req 20, 60 = Success

You first determine that it is, in fact, taking energy from all nearby living things, including you. Or to be more specific, the stone set in the necklace is. It is at a too small rate to really matter in such a short amount of time, so you are safe for now. It would take days for such a weak object to truly harm you, though you suspect a human could only last a few hours with it touching their skin. That said, you do not plan on keeping it near you for a lengthy time.

Studying it further, it seems to be pulling at the energy of nearby life by being a sort of vacuum, and sending it somewhere else. With a few further tests it seems that the rate it draws in energy decreases at an inverse proportionality to distance squared, similar to other three dimensional fields. This is quite logical and advantageous. It means it still follows the rules that were made during the Music*.

You could not figure out where it is being sent, but you think you could replicate the effect. This bodes well. All you will need is a proper forge, or even a normally inadequate forge would do, and you could start making these yourself. You will need to do use them, or take the energy the monster collects, in order to gain power.

You consider what to do with the monsters. The easiest solution would be to just kill them and take their energy, though you do not know how powerful they are together. They would also be good practice for Makoto to fight.

You could ally them, but at the same time, you doubt Makoto would accept an alliance with the monsters. She seems to have too much morals for that; you do need to fix that someday. If you do ally then it will need to be in secret.

You could also just ignore them. You have what you needed: the energy gathering tools. They are not harming you either, so perhaps staying unknown is a good thing.

For now, you pick up the necklace and return it to the store on the ground. You quickly head out.

You make your choice.

Makoto’s Unlucky Fight
[X] Wait for Makoto to come back from school and have her come with you to attack the monster.

You decide to wait for Makoto to come back from school. This monster will be good practice for her, and you can always step in if need be.

In the meantime, you have a few more hours until she is done with school. You end up watching the monster during this time. Unfortunately, she does not do anything other than act as an over enthusiastic saleswoman.

Eventually school ends, but you do not return to the apartment yet. You see two schoolgirls enter the jewelry shop. One of them has red hair, and looks similar to the monster, but is not one herself. She still has a soul.

Perhaps the monster is pretending to be her mother, based on the conversation you can hear. Or maybe she is allied to the monster and they are working together for a disguise.

It is the other that interests you though. The blonde has the strongest and brightest fëa you have seen so far, so is clearly quite powerful. However, she acts like a normal teenager. You even see her cry on a whim. You suspect it is a disguise, and she may even be in league with the monsters. You do however remember that Makoto had not known about her power, so perhaps it is as it appears.

In any case, it is unlikely they will do anything else soon. You turn to leave, and start jogging back to the apartment.

When you arrive you have to slip in behind someone as they enter the building. You then take the stairs so as to not risk someone noticing you. Eventually, you reach Makoto's apartment and start scratching at the door so she will open it for you.

"Where were you?" She opens the door, letting you in, and sits down.

"I found one of the monsters. She is disguised as a jewelry owner and is selling jewelry that is slowly killing people." You play up the drama to get her focused on killing the creature. You do not want a sudden bout of mercy that humans are prone to do in this era.

"That's terrible! I'm going to go there and stop her." Her green eyes burn with anger. That… was effective.

"Get your disguise first. We would not want them discovering who you are."

"Right." She grabs her sunglasses and hat, putting them on.

"We will also need a code name for you."

The two of you decide on a name for her, then are ready to go.

She goes down the elevator, with you sticking close to her shadows. Luckily no one spots you as you leave the building.

When you reach the streets, you head to a bus stop while trying to be inconspicuous. Makoto does not do well, but everyone seems more focused on themselves. You get on the bus and to a spot near your destination without trouble.

Makoto and you sneak the rest of the way to the store. It seems to be still bustling with people. You feel a cold breeze from the east. This will be your first battle in the newest age.

She seems to hesitate.

"Where is the monster?"

"She is disguising herself as that woman in a purple dress. Trust me, she must be put down for the sake of all the people in there." You try to reassure her and get her to confront the monster.

"Well okay…" she says. You are about to suggest she uses a magic blast–as soon as she has a clear line of sight to the monster–when she walks up to the entrance and poses.

"How dare you endanger the lives of all these innocent people! In the name of, uh, what am I saying?" You suppose she is going with the tactic of a dramatic entrance. This you can understand well, but she seems confused and did not do a good job of it. In any case, a surprise attack would have worked far better at gaining an advantage. You will have to include this in your debrief with her later.

Makoto enters the building, and the monster seems to hiss. She grabs the closest person, who was the girl you saw earlier and looks to be her daughter.

"Take one step closer and I kill her!" She looks like she concentrates for a moment, and the people in the store begin to sit down and faint. She is manually drawing more energy from them, you suspect.

"Mom? Mom what are you doing?" The girl barely chokes out the words.

"I'm not your mother little brat!" Her skin wrinkles and turns grey. Her dress is suddenly black, and her claws look sharp.

"What… what are you?" asks Makoto.

"I am a youma, soldier of the Dark Kingdom. Those who have given their life energy, rise and serve me!" Around a third of the people on the floor get up and have a glazed look in their eye.

What is Makoto doing? She should have shot the monster by now.

"Shoot her!"

"She has a hostage!" You do not even know the hostage, she does not matter. How annoying that Makoto is risking the battle for some random civilian's sake.

Zombie 1 melee: 71
Makoto Brawling: 62 + 10 (slightly experienced) = 72

The first of the youma's minions reaches Makoto and they start fighting, with Makoto easily beating the former shopper to the ground using her wealth of experience from fights. Several more take her place in fighting Makoto.

"Get away from Naru!" Someone new enters the fight. It is someone you have never seen before. You look at her fëa… it is the other girl you had seen earlier, but she is wearing something different. You should not have been tricked by different clothes of all things, even if it just for a second. You do not have time to ponder such things now though. Well, at least it looks like she is not on the side of the Youma. But she definitely does know of her own powers, unlike Makoto.

You had wanted this to be a training exercise for Makoto though. You want her to learn how to fight solo, not with the aid of a possibly more experienced girl who might not even be an ally. You decide to keep the new arrival busy.

"Who are you?"

"Uh, me? I am the pretty guardian who fights for love and for justice! I am Sailor Moon! And now in the name of the moon, I will punish you!" She is even worse than Makoto at intimidation. At least you distracted her for a time.

While Sailor Moon was yelling, the youma had dropped the redhead. She stretched her arm out at Makoto, claws glistening sharp.

"[Code name]! Shoot the Youma!" Your shout causes Makoto to back away from the people she was fighting and instead look to the youma.

Morga (the youma) arm stretch: 30
Makoto intercept: 8 + 20 (Far stronger weapon) = 28

"Magic Blast!" Makoto shoots the youma, but only grazes the claw. It is nonetheless enough to make her pull back.

Makoto Magic Blast: 15
Morga dodge: 100, crit

"Magic Blast!" Makoto shoots Morga again, but she dodged and with Makoto distracted one of the slaves puts her in a choke hold. You decide it is time to intervene.

Sauron Tackle: 76
Zombie dodge: 100 - 50 (can't move) = 50

You scratch the youma's minion, forcing him to let go. Makoto quickly tries again.

Makoto Magic Blast: 41
Morga Dodge: 82

"Magic Blast!" Again, it seems the youma is too swift. This time the youma tried to strike back.

Meanwhile, you are still running circles around her minions and Sailor Moon is cowering in a corner next to Luna.

Morga arm stretch: 85
Makoto intercept: 37 + 20 (far stronger weapon) = 57

"Magic Blast!" Makoto tries to intercept again, but missed once more. You should try target practice next time you train her, you suppose. The youma's claws reach her this time and scratch her arm. It begins to bleed.

"Aaah! I didn't want anyone to get hurt! I didn't want to fight!" That Sailor Moon starts crying. You take back your thoughts earlier today. She definitely thinks she is a normal schoolgirl; Luna must have done the same thing you did. How she got a costume so fast though, you do not know. Perhaps she has a tailor.

The youma turns to Sailor Moon. Good for you, and that shows her terrible strategic instincts. Perhaps she thinks Makoto is out of the fight.

Morga arm stretch: 60
Tuxedo Mask Rose: 65 + 50 (Protect Sailor Moon) = 115 Crit

Her arm stretches out to claw at Sailor Moon, but right before it reaches her a rose of all things blocks it, injuring the arm.

"I am the one known as Tuxedo Mask." A man wearing a suit and cape is standing gallantly in the window, his cape flowing in the breeze. You can tell he is the man you had sensed to be very powerful a few days ago. He seems experienced–if you can, you plan on corrupting him to your side.

"Sailor Moon, remember that crying and hiding behind others isn't going to solve any of your problems." It seems he also has the propensity for silly speeches.

"Yeah, but monsters are scary!" She begins to cry. Loudly.

Sailor Moon Amplified Crying: 38
Morga Resist: 87
Zombies Resist: 38
Makoto Resist: 83

The loud sound echoes throughout the room, hitting everyone fighting. The youma's minions all fall to the floor in pain. The youma herself seems to recover after only a few moments, but so does Makoto, covering one of her ears with her injured arm's hand.

Makoto Magic Blast: 73 - 30 (One handed) = 43
Youma dodge: 26 - 10 (Covering ears) = 16

"Magic Blast!" This time it hits the youma, pushing her back and forcing her to crouch down.

Then the black cat from before next to Sailor Moon begins to speak.

"Sailor Moon, take off your Tiara, and throw it at her while saying 'Moon Tiara Action!'" Luna commands the girl.

"Why? What's going to happen?"

"Just do it!"

Moon Tiara Action: 38
Morga dodge: 64 - 50 (can't move) = 14

"Moon Tiara Action!" Her Tiara turns into a glowing disk, and cuts the youma in half. The youma clearly dies, turning into dust.

You sense an instability, as energy rushes into the immediate area. You feel the slight energy you had lost before return to you. Looking around, it seems the other victims have regained their energy as well. What a shame you could not take it, as it returns to them too fast.

The shoppers look to be getting up now, including the former slaves of the youma. They are unlikely to keep serving their now dead master, but it would be best to get out of here soon.

"Well done, Sailor Moon. I will not forget what happened here tonight." Tuxedo Mask then jumps out the window, falsely presuming her to be safe. You feel a warm breeze from the west through that window.

"Luna, you have a brother?" Sailor Moon seems to notice you and has recovered enough to ask a stupid question.

"No! Well, I don't think so," Luna responds to her first. She turns to you.

"What were you doing here? Are you an enemy?" You now must decide on how to respond.

[] Be antagonistic to them. You do not want Luna or this Sailor Moon influencing Makoto.
-[] Optional: Start a fight with them. There is only room for one teengirl-cat crime fighting duo in this town.

[] Write-in something more specific. (Recommended)

AN: In this chapter, Sailor Moon characters take the opportunity to talk lots during a fight. Sauron is not impressed. Makoto's sailor mark didn't show because she wasn't facing Sauron or Luna during the fight so no one saw it, thus no one knows she is Jupiter. If she was then Luna would have known.

Also those rolls were ridiculous. This was going to be a Makoto and Sauron stomp fight, but instead it went closer to canon.

I don't know why, but for some reason I spent a bunch of time making a timeline for this day so I figured I'd give it to you rather than just deleting it. Don't expect this in the future for when you have made more butterflies, which will probably be made now.

"I have a suggestion for a code name for you."

"What is it?" Makoto impatiently says, wanting to get going so she can save the people.

"Bellas. It means strength in an ancient language I know."

"It sounds nice. Let's go!"

–––––

"I went after the youma here because I thought they are connected to the Order of the Istari, and because I saw that they were harming people."

"Is that all? So if you didn't think they were connected you wouldn't have come?"

"Of course I would have. Besides, have you considered that I might not have been wrong? There is a strong possibility of them teaming up either way."

"Yes… maybe."

"Luna, do you know anything about these youma that I should know? We should share information."

Convince to Share: 60, Req 20, 50, 80 = 2 Successes

"They are a part of the Dark Kingdom, and have evil aims. They destroyed our kingdom once before, so we will stop them." Well that is unnecessarily vague. It seems that she was part of an old kingdom… you will have to try to find out what it was. In any case, you are running out of time. The police will be here any minute now.

"I see. These youma are dangerous, you know. Fighting them alone has proven to be dangerous."

Get them to propose alliance; 41 + 50 (Bewitching Voice) = 91, Req 60 = Success

"Maybe you should leave it to us then," Luna replies.

Seeing how Luna obviously doesn't care, you turn to Sailor Moon.

"I know you had trouble today trying to fight alone." You put power into your voice, convincing her subconsciously to suggest an alliance between you. It is not hard; she seems to already want to, but held back.

"Then maybe we can work together!" Sailor Moon speaks up in palpable excitement. Luna just sighs.

"We don't know if we can trust them," she says to Sailor Moon.

"Are you saying we aren't trustworthy?" Bellas speaks up. She has ripped part of her shirt to create a bandage for her arm at this point.

"Er, no, but-" Luna starts to say.

"Of course not! I'm Usagi. What's your name?" This girl has absolutely no sense of secrecy. At least this is to your advant-

"My code name is Bellas, but my real name is Makoto." The secret is out. Bellas should not have done that, but perhaps you can turn it to your advantage.

"Next time a youma appears let's work together then," says Luna. She seems to have softened up to the idea of an alliance due to Makoto's reveal.

"Good. We should go; the police are right there," you tell them. They seem to realize that they can hear police sirens coming. The four of you split up into your pairs and leave.

Evade Police:
Sailor Moon and Luna: 22, Req 30 = Failure
You and Bellas: 31, Req 30 = Success

You manage to escape without being seen, with the police cars coming from the opposite direction you went. Sailor Moon and Luna however you can tell ran straight into the police, though you did not stay to find out what happened.

You arrive back in Makoto's room.

"Is your arm alright?" If she is injured too badly this could go bad.

"Yeah. It's just bleeding a little." Makoto goes to get a proper bandage anyway, discarding the tear from her shirt. She cleans her wound and puts the proper bandage on.

"That is good. I was worried you were seriously harmed." She seems to smile at that.

"I don't know how I will explain this… everyone will assume I've been in a fight and won't like me again. I wanted a fresh start at this school." She looks down at her shirt. "And my shirt is ruined too."

"Yes, that is a great shame," you lie, "but we all have to make sacrifices. You may not be able to get ordinary friends, but perhaps you can invite that Usagi girl here sometime." With any luck Usagi would not bring Luna so you can convert her to your side. She seems much more easily convinced than Luna would be. It is as if that cat can sense you are evil.

"Yeah, it would be nice to meet with her. She seemed kind."

"Perhaps we can arrange that then. I would like to first talk about the fight. You made a few mistakes I would like to correct."

"I know I did bad! I hate feeling so useless against that monster and having to be saved."

"That's why I want to make you get better. Next time you won't need to be saved."

"Okay, what did I do wrong," she says morosely.

"When you started the battle, you should have waited to do a surprise attack. Announcing your presence allowed the youma to attack you first. We also need to work on your aim." You decide to not mention the hostage situation. She clearly feels strongly about not hurting innocents.

Makoto seems to think for a moment, but you can tell she is still frustrated.

"I will do better next time. You can count on that."

You stay with her for the rest of the day. She is tired, but does her homework and makes her dinner nonetheless. After the sun has set, you decide what to do next.

Leveling
I have created a tentative leveling system for abilities. This mostly applies to characters other than Sauron, because Sauron is skilled at pretty much everything he does due to his age. I've also added Makoto's character sheet below the main one for now. It will only be updated with what you know about it IC.

Levels of Experience: +# to Roll /Exp needed to level
Completely new: -20 /10
Inexperienced: -10 /10
Normal: 0 (Default for senshi mostly) /10
Slightly Experienced: +10 /20
Experienced: +20 /30
Very Experienced: +30
