Coming out this fall:

This is post modern Robin Hood.

Everyone wears T-shirts.

Crossbows look like rifles.

There are peasant protestors with Molotov cocktails fighting medieval riot cops

And there are medieval grenade launchers

This is beautiful and decadent.

This looks great. The mix of modern and medieval aesthetic is at least a cool take on things.

I feel like this is basically every modern trend in fantasy distilled and concentrated into one movie.

Uh, well, maybe not so much. We don't know if anyone gets raped or their dick cut off yet.

This really looks and feels like that Guy Ritchie King Arthur film... and that's not quite a good precedent to follow.

> Riot police
> Grenade launcher crossbow
> 10 pound bow
> People in modern clothes
> What the fuck is that helmet
> What the fuck are those P90 crossbows
> Oh hey Jamie Foxx is cool
> Come on even Morgan Freeman did a bad Moorish accent
> "You were a crusader, now you are a warrior" what the fuck did you think crusaders do

Introducing, Lars Anderson the Movie! Coming to a theater near you!

I didn't know the British nicked the whole freaking Parthenon.

Also Matt Easton video

Captain Context is the only reason I'm even aware this thing exists.

I really, really hope this is some sort of low-fantasy "medievalpunk" "reimagining" rather than being supposed to be set in the actual middle ages, in which case my brain is melting out my ears. Either way, it looks awful.

It's awful in the best way. I mean any film that has dark age peasants fighting riot cops with Molotov cocktails has to be really fun to watch.

It reminds me of that Arthur movie that came out last year. Is that thing on Netflix? I could use a good laugh.

Legit though, if those crossbows are some crazy Jorge Sprave bullshit I'd be okay with it.

Also, the helmets. It's obviously fake and ahistorical but it reminds me SOMETHING but I can't put my finger on it. Does anyone know?

I kinda dig it.
Like, they want to go nuts, let them go nuts. Am I right?
like, I think this looks pretty cool.

I think it's cute that film picked up that particular archery technique.

You talking' about this?

Honestly it a little annoys me that hey hey Jamie Foxx AKA Django here but their choice for the bowslinger here is Mr. Pippip Cheerio Remember Kingsman: the Golden Circle? Of course you don't but I'm a random british guy so I get higher billing than the black actor who played in a Tarantino film and a good number of high profile movies since then.

Taron Egerton is fucking Welsh.

I question how fun this man is at parties when he would dedicate runtime to complaining about how they didn't have bolts back in medieval England without a trace of irony when the trailer has P90 automatic crossbows and peasants throwing molotov cocktails at medieval riot cops and Robin Hood in a medieval business suit chilling on a couch.

Like, dude. This is so patently obviously not intended as a period piece with inaccuracies. Criticise it because it looks like Guy Ritchie responded to King Arthur: Legend of the Sword bombing by locking himself in a darkened room with whiskey and watching nothing but Ridley Scott's Robin Hood and the Kingsman movies back to back for six months before penning the script in an oracle-like daze then forced it unsigned under Otto Bathurst's front door in the dead of night and absconded into the mist like a wraith, not because Taron Egerton's haircut isn't period-appropriate.

The ~historicial inaccuracy~ critique @ anything relating to Robin Hood, as far as I can tell, is basically on par with leveling it at King Arthur? Which is to say it's literally a non-issue as it's always been wildly, deliberately anachronistic. It's been a while since I've gone over the stories/their origin but it's just like... why even.

Did you just call Matt Easton unfun? My dude, do you know nothing of the man?

Also lol

You know, if this trailer set up the world for being this steampunk-ish Dishonored style world and maybe not have five million fade to blacks every cut it would probably be a lot more liked.
