Roanapur Quest

Also, the nun has a gun on her. Not going for it just now, but from what Pierre can tell, she could draw it pretty fast. From that he can tell she's a much better gunslinger than any nun has a right to be.
Gotta love undercover CIA. Looks pretty interesting so far, I tentatively put forward the suggestion to take control of the conversation, if only because nobody fucks with the Roanapur church, so it would be nice to get in their good books.

Claude stepped forward to talk with the...nun, but Pierre put a hand on his shoulder. "I'll handle it," he said. He walked up to the nun calmly, one hand extended to shake.

The nun ignored it. "And who the fuck're you?" she asked, her accent was strange, perhaps Canadian or American.

"I am Pierre Bourcet," said Pierre, "I need weaponry and I was told you could provide."

The nun popped a piece of gum into her mouth and chewed, slowly, deliberately aggravatingly. Pierre ignored it, waiting for the woman to speak. "Bitchin'," said the nun, "Assuming you're not dumb enough to show up with no cash, what're you looking for?"

Not too bad a stunt at all. And certainly, since Social is not a favored skill-set you really want those extra dice to help with the roll. I'll be relatively generous there if you try at all, at least early on, and remember you all can also spend WP.

Nice stunt, funnily enough I was about to take a try at one when yours popped up and it was going to go more or less the exact same way yours did.:D

MOAR VOTES.

Also I'm stating up Equipment that will be available to you. If there's something you really want, whether a particular model of gun or some non-weapon equipment, post here. I will of course veto anything that won't fit in, but I may not have thought of everything that might be useful. Especially for non-gun utility equipment.

Hey guys it just occurred to me but depending on where we are in the Black Lagoon timeline we should try to recruit Hansel and Gretel before they piss off Hotel Moscow. Having those guys work for us would be really useful if we can find a way to use them right and not die in the process also ill admit to wanting to have two creepy unstoppable squad killers working for us. I mean come on you can never have to much backup especially back up as deadly as them and alright maybe i do feel just a tiny bit bad about how they went out in the anime.

Could we get a motorcycle?

Smoke grenades, flash bombs, and protective equipment against their effects may be a decent investment. Although we can probably do without the protective equipment. Legendary Dexterity, just don't be at ground zero.

Actually that'd be a pretty neat trick, throwing grenades or bombs with out feet. Bounce it on our foot like a soccer ball, kick it at an enemy, take cover. Ideally they don't realize it's coming because really, who expects someone to drop a grenade at their foot, pluck out the pin with their toes, and kick it at the enemy?

Probably impractical though. Still, we could probably stunt plenty of stuff or debris on the ground that we can kick at people for a distraction or cheap shots. Although if we're just going for intimidation, playing with a bomb that way make someone sweat.

Suppose we could also take a page from Joker's book and hide a knife or something in our boot, but honestly, I question whether we'd really need it. If anything it may give more away if someone spots it. Kinda niche. Steel toed boots may be appropriate though. Or something equivalent. May not be good for sneaking or parkour though.

Depending how good we are at maintenance, I hear revolvers are pretty easy to take care of. Never worked with one though. Slower to reload without full/half moon clips, but potentially more reliable. May be more concealable too, like a snub nosed revolver. People would probably get suspicious if we didn't have some kind of concealed weapon on us, so even if it never gets used it may be worth it. But I imagine it'll get used.

A shotgun of some kind would not be a bad idea. It is a very respectable urban combat weapon. We're good at close quarters, but it makes for a decent club to smack someone in the face with and clear a room. Plus a shotgun could be loaded with multiple kinds of ammo for different ranges of engagement. Slugs, breaching rounds, dragon's breath, you know what just look here if you're interested. Obviously can't go too overboard on the specialization, but the diversification is out there.

Plus, in a pinch, we can probably make our own ammo. I believe you can reuse/reload used shotgun shells as well, so it may be very practical if we can purchase appropriate equipment.

Submachine could serve similar purpose and have more sustained fire at longer ranges, although if a variety of ammo is available a shotgun may still be worth it. Shotgun is probably easier to maintain too.

Actually a shotgun as Claude's weapon of choice when it's time to bring out the big guns may be pretty solid. Especially if he's not a good shot. He won't be picking off any targets from afar, but plop him in a corner and tell him to shoot in the general direction of something nasty is pretty good. In fact I'd say a shotgun or submachine gun may be quite a solid choice for Claude for one reason in particular.

As long as Claude isn't a completely awful shot, or using fragmentary rounds recklessly, if we get into deep shit Claude can fire on us while we're in melee or otherwise in motion towards an enemy and we'll probably be safe. The people we're fighting? Not so much. Giving Claude a weapon we can trust him not to screw up too badly if he needs to fire on our position is a pretty solid gambit. If we need it.

If we close into melee and start grappling we probably don't need Claude to coup de grace our guys, but it may help. Claude aims at the center of mass, which our bulletproof coat is behind, and even if the bullet passes through we're safe.

Flares, a flaregun, and/or nightvision. All useful under different circumstances.

I suppose non-lethal rounds like rubber bullets or beanbags might be found, but I doubt they'll be anywhere to be found here. Still, if don't want them dead, maybe.

Perhaps a lockpick set? Assuming we know how to pick locks it would be useful for breaking into the warehouse, or really for stealing anything without trying to cause a fight.

Alright, calling it for taking the lead.

Someone roll 7d10.

That's +2 for the stunt, and +1 situational modifier since you passed the roll to notice she was armed, and she knows you know.

DAY 1, NOON

Claude stepped forward to talk with the...nun, but Pierre put a hand on his shoulder. "I'll handle it," he said. He walked up to the nun calmly, one hand extended to shake.

The nun ignored it. "And who the fuck're you?" she asked, her accent was strange, perhaps Canadian or American. Her eyes narrowed as she saw Pierre's instinctive glance at the bulge of a gun hidden in a fold of cloth around her waist.

"Guns," he responded candidly. "Smuggling a piece on the plane was more trouble than it was worth."

The nun finally took his hand, briefly, then blew out and popped a bubble. "Those camelfuckers over Manhattan made it hard for everyone," she said in what he was unsure was real or sarcastic sympathy. She turned her side to her side, yelling out "RIIIICO, git 'yer tight ass over here!"

An earnest looking young priest soon appeared from around the side of the church, slipping in past the truck. The guileless smile on his face belied the bandolier of machinegun ammunition slipped around his cassock. "Yeees, Sister?"

"They want to order some guns, you handle it," she told the priest dismissively, waving the back of her hand toward the church entrance. She pushed down her sunglasses, briefly, to look directly at Pierre. "I'm Edda, and you're lucky, I like you. Try not to get killed in the next few days and maybe I'll even see you again."

She stalked her way past him with a decidedly unholy strut. Before he could really process the sexy nun fantasy her priest-underling was on him, smiling face framed with an unruly mop of brown hair. "Father Ricardo, at your service," he said, thrusting his hand at Pierre while nodding furiously in the direction of Claude. "Sister Edda sure is something, isn't she? But let's talk business inside."

Even before Pierre could shake his hand Ricardo was already moving ahead, up the steps and pushing open the wooden doors to the chapel. He ushered them into a row of pews in front of the altar, then excused himself to get what he termed the "sales brochure."

"You aren't exactly the smoothest operator, but it worked," Claude said, as he scooted over in the pew closer to him. "All that time in Paris must have been good for something."

"Perhaps," Pierre responded. He idly lifted up a Psalm book from the shelf on the back of the pew. Thumbing through it he was surprised to find it actually was a book of Psalms in English, for a Methodist congregation. "What kind of ripoff Church is this?"

"If you're going to smuggle things around in an unsettled region, well, who is going to be trusted more than doctors or priests?" Claude laughed. "Of course the doctors are carrying medicines you can take and sell, while the priests only have bibles. And no one wants to buy those."

Pierre raised an eyebrow. "Speaking from experience?"

"I may have worn a cassock a few times myself," he said, winking.

Ricardo soon reappeared, bringing with him a heavy three-ring binder. "This is our catalog. We offer weapons, ammunition, as well as other equipment. We can also bring in special orders for favored customers."

Pierre took the binder and flipped through it. "That's a hell of a markup," he commented after browsing a few pages.

"We are the only authorized weapons dealer in all of Roanapur," Ricardo replied, stretching out his arms to emphasize it. "You can go kill some of that gang trash out there and take their stuff, but you get what you pay for. The Church will vouch for the quality of all arms we bring into the city."

"Very well, I…"

We have a build that's ideal for sneaking around so we should buy weapons that will help us sneak and cover our weakness also we should try to take it from the buyer less guards that way.

So what, you think we aught to grab a M2 and some RPGs?:p

Seriously, in that case, figure NVGs, FN with silencer, while a SVD for our buddy to cover us?

Actually, that brings up a relevant question.

How good is Claude with a gun? What can he be reasonably expected to handle with competency?

I'm a fan of utility vests, and giving Claude at least a flak vest so he can take a hit. Give him a gun too.

Right now I'm favoring one of the cheaper shotguns for us, because I like the shotgun. We can't afford to blow our budget all here, so let's aim for some cheaper stuff to get us by now, plus utility.

Nah, we're a stealth build, remember?

We want to slip in and out. So a shotty, while tempting, is out. Maybe as a backup piece?
