[X] Plan Outside Context Problem
-[X] The Shards: jagged pieces of a black, glass-like material that visibly vibrate in and out of existence. Hypothesized to either originate from or have been acted on by a parallel universe with different physical laws. [Potential Unlocks: Phasing, Dimensional Spelunking]
-[X] Intrigue| And sometimes you'll have do to do things you're not proud of. You'll have to lie to people's faces, commit fraud, maybe even steal. It's not preferable, but it'll definitely be necessary.

Imagine it! Wonderful new dimensions filled with things whose attentions we probably shouldn't get...
Unlimited things to steal, cognitohazards to bring back, parallel versions of those who know of and could crush us here but dont know we exist or how to get to us over there, unlimited friends to make!

I feel like this windfall needs a bit of love, I think it could be really cool but most of the others are cool too.
I cant actually think of an interesting character to write in though :(

....At least that hopefully means he would actually be good to work with.
As long as we prove our worth at least.

....At least that hopefully means he would actually be good to work with.

Before this, I had absolutely no idea that this character existed. That being said:

"Nothing terrifies me, because nothing is beyond my ability to change."

I really want to watch this show now.

Xantos Gambit: The art of ensuring no matter how it ends, he always benefits. May not go for things as big as others, but he ALWAYS wins, for he plans to win even when he loses. Also why I made the comment of proving our worth. If we are indispensable, he would work to ensure his plans don't screw us over XD:ninja::cool2:.
Honestly, besides that, not very familiar with him.

Edit: Xantos, the turtle of the villains, he might be slower, but he is near guaranteed to win by playing it smart and slow.

In a perfect world, you'd be able to pursue science for it's own sake. In the real world, you'll have to constantly prove to Sable and the Board of Directors that your research is providing dividends, have to haggle with other departments for resources, not to mention having to wrangle a laboratory of scientists and lab assisant.

Alright, looks like we have a winner. Voting is locked, and now perhaps writing shall begin.

What would have happened if an incomplete vote had won? Like if say, 10 people voted only for fluffykins, therefore making the winning plan have no name, no specialty, and no established look?
would we be a non-binary individual with no name, and no clear appearance?

Looking at the plans, it appears its a tie for Luna (R2Walker voted for it, but not in Plan Form) and Calcium Bridge. But (as this was not a plan only vote) it appears that Fluffikins won by a large majority for the item.

Are we still going with the Deathless Hand?

Well it wasn't a plan vote, just some posters forced it into one, so Fluffikins should be the lead.

In Strange Aeons
Winning Name: Tie between Mary Walton & Luna
Windfall: Fluffikins
Secondary Skill: Diplomacy

I've been told that compromise is the surest way to leave all parties unsatisfied. Let's find out.

In his many years as the CEO of a highly successful weapons development company, Xanatos Sable had often been asked what was the most important skill in managing a large enterprise. His usual answers involved leadership, or competence, or ruthlessness.

Lies, of course.

The key to success, in absolutely any part of life, is the capability to sit calmly while everything explodes around you, and look like you somehow meant for that to happen.

This is why he is currently resting his his hands atop the carved block of obsidian that serves as his desk while maintaining eye contact with his guest, instead of jumping out of the nearest available window in sheer and abject horror.

His guest, meanwhile, is busily kicking her feet as she drinks her hot cocoa. She looks as if she just stepped out of a children's fantasy novel. The softly luminescent and hilariously large sword (he believed the correct term was a "fuckoff" sword) sitting on her lap certainly strengthened that theory. She wears a sky-blue robe/gown that rivaled Xanatos' own tailor in quality, with a red ribbon at the collar and a gold belt buckle shaped like an infinity sign.

"Now, if I understand correctly" he says once she puts her cup down, leaving a smear over her top lip "you say that you have managed to reverse engineer a magical ritual to resurrect the dead?"

"Well, not exactly" she says, daintily placing her cup on top of her sword "It'll only bring back people who want to come. Needs to be a violent death, too, otherwise the Wound won't be big enough. It only worked on Calcium here because he really didn't like dying."

Which brings his attention to the...other guest. It's rather hard to miss, being a nine-foot tall skeleton in extravagantly engraved armor whose eye sockets unfortunately did not contain inky darkness. With sunlight streaming in from the glass wall behind him, Xanatos was treated to a uninterrupted view of the inside of the abomination's skull as it stared unblinking into his very soul while somehow giving the impression that what it found was wanting.

And she had named it 'Calcium.' Because that's what bones are made out of.

"Right. And it is your wish to make this resurrection technology publicly available?"

She nods, adjusting her cartoonishly large glasses. "Yup. Once I fix it so it works on everyone, every time, I figure I ought to be able to abolish death from the face of the Earth within a year or so."

That...that is not the way the world works in the slightest. Not that he lets his doubt show on his face.

He's met this kind of maniac before. The ones who will bring their bright utopia into reality no matter how much blood who has to be spilled along the way. The ones who will sacrifice anything in pursuit of their vision, including themselves.

Her hair is brushed, but from the annoyed way she kept sweeping it out of her her eyes he guessed she wasn't wearing it that long by choice. All of her nails were slightly too long, and her eyes were red, either from sleep deprivation or crying. Possibly both. It painted a picture of someone who was not taking care of herself. Or to be more accurate, as serious and grownup as she liked to act, a child who was being neglected.

"You do realize that there would be a certain stigma against me employing a twelve-year-old, let alone as the head of my research division." He said as he thought all of this.

She smiled and laced her fingers together in a way that would have been intimidating if she still didn't have a cocoa mustache. "Well, I figured that you'd be doing things in your lab that you wouldn't want the public to know about anyway, and if anybody sees me you could just say I was the daughter of one of your researchers or something."

He pinches the bridge of his nose and inhales, imagining exactly how much fun the press would have eviscerating him over this.

"And besides," she says, brows furrowing in indignation "I'm almost thirteen."

If he were to turn her down, she'd keep following this path, except with poorer conditions and even less supervision. She was a time bomb, waiting to tick down and unleash some horrible monstrosity onto the world. His only real choice was whether she would explode in conditions he could control, or ones where he could not.

"Congratulations, Ms. Walton. Welcome to Sable Industries."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your name is Luna Walton, and you totally aced that interview. Of course, having a giant skeleton warrior at your side probably didn't hurt.

Calcium, for his part, remains as silent and calmly foreboding as ever. It's nice to know you'll always have him at your side, no matter what. Good friends are hard to find.

The best part of the day was getting to watch the various expressions of fear, doubt, horror and despair of the various scientists as Sable explained to them that, yes, you were their new boss and, yes, you hadn't even entered high school yet and, no, there was nothing they could do about it.

After that, Roderick, your new "personal assistant"(read: gofer) showed you around the labs, which were so clean and sterile it made your eyes hurt, and your office, which was not as big as Sable's but is still awesome. After that, you sent him to gofer some snacks so you and Calcium could converse in private.

You had to make sure your office chair could spin around adequately, of course. You're only human.

After awhile you started to get sick, so you stopped.

"I do not trust him, mistress." Calcium says, in a voice made of grinding metal echoing through an infinite chasm, interspersed with sounds of battle and bloodshed. His jawbone doesn't move, of course, but light and shadow shift slightly around him with each syllable.

"His name starts with an X, nobody trusts him." You say, not quite ready to shift into serious mode.

"He intends to use your wisdom and then discard you. He will suffer no man, woman, or child on this Earth to be more powerful than him. I have dealt with such men, and always regretted it."

You feel your last shred of dizziness dissolve, and turn to face your skeleton directly. "He wants power, and I can give it him. This job is the key to step three, and maybe step two. By the time he realizes how close I really am, there'll be nothing he can do stop me."

"And if he betrays you before you reach your goals?"

You smile, your glasses glinting in the light.

"Then we show him that there are worse things than death."

Inventory:

Beginner's Grimoire: notebook filled with spells, incantations, and rituals of dubious quality that you found through years combing through old bookstores, distant libraries, and of course the internet. Most of them are nonsense, some are untested, and as Calcium can attest, some of them work very well.

Rite of the Unhealed Wound: complicated ritual that occasionally allows you to resurrect those who have died violently and unwillingly. Why didn't it work on them?
Robes of the Eternal Promise: they don't do anything, but they make you look like a real wizard.

Worldrender: ancient glowing blue greatsword that Calcium used against the Dreaded Hordes in his lifetime. (+10 against undead and spirit forms)

Skills(The value of a skill is added to the value of the relevant stat in a roll):

Necromancy(Learning): 10

The following is, and forevermore shall be, PLAN FORMAT.

Research: You have 20 Scientists. Each one assigned to a project adds +1d10 to the relevant roll. Use the following format to show how many you want assigned:

[E] Example Project|
Example Project. [DC: Example][# of scientists]

[ ] Analyze Fluffikins| So cute, but so dangerous. [DC: 40]

[ ] Let the lab analyze Calcium|
He won't like being poked and prodded, but there's a lot you'd like to learn. You Raised him, but you still have no idea how he really works. [DC: 60]

[ ] Study Worldrender|
You can barely lift the thing without Calcium's help, but you know that it's powerful and ancient, just like him. [DC: 50]

[ ] Test some of the incantations from your Grimoire| you found some of these from ancient library tomes, some from dark forums on the internet, and one notably from the top of a soda bottle. Perhaps one of them actually does something? [DC: 80]

Personal Actions(Pick Three)(You can have Roderick do a forth one by putting
[Roderick] at the end):

Martial:

[ ] Train with Calcium|
You're not entirely sure that a skeleton older than the city you were born in is entirely up to date with modern combat, but he could probably teach you how to punch someone without breaking your hand. [DC 0]

Diplomacy:

[ ] Improve your Communication Skills|
You're good at talking to people, but not as good as you could be. [Reward: +1 to Diplomacy][DC: 25]

[ ] Find a Diplomacy Trainer|
Find someone willing to teach you how to communicate better. [DC: 90]

[ ] Meet with other Department Heads|
Your's is not the only Department in the company, and you'll be competing with the others for funds and other resources. It'd probably be a good idea to meet with some of them.

[ ] Ask Sable for more Resources| You can't work with what you've been given, you need more. You ask for:

[ ] More Scientists [Reward: +1d6 Scientists][DC: 60]
[ ] More Money [Reward: +1 Action][DC: 80]

[ ] Talk to your Scientists| You know they don't like you, but you might be able to fix that. [DC: 65]

[ ] Talk to your Aunt|
You haven't talked to her in a while, you need to make sure she's okay. [DC: 0]

Stewardship:

[ ] Extend the Labs:
Build a new extension to the laboratory. Build:

[ ] Special Containment Unit: An expensive box that keeps dangerous stuff from getting out. In theory. [DC: 0. Roll will determine progress]
[ ] High-Res Scanner: Gives you a lot more information after analyzing something. [DC: 0. Roll will determine progress]
[ ] Ritual Room: A specially sanctified place for you to experiment with magic. [DC: 0. Roll will determine progress]
[ ] Dissecting Room: A place to analyze inhuman abominations, and possibly stitch new ones together. [DC: 0. Roll will determine progress]
[ ] Casual Fridays| Try to improve the moral of the Department. [DC: 60]

Intrigue:

[ ] Learn to be Sneakier|
You've been told you're about as subtle as a thrown brick, but you don't have to stay that way. [DC: 1]

[ ] Find an Intrigue Trainer|
Find someone willing to teach you the basics of corporate espionage. [DC: 90]

Learning:

[ ] Aid one of the Projects|
Each of the following is an Action:

[ ] Fluffikins
[ ] Calcium
[ ] Worldrender
[ ] Grimoire

[ ] Web Crawling | Try to find more Necromancy spells the way you did before.

[ ] Return| Return to the Cairn where you raised Calcium, see if you can find anything useful.

let me confirm: the scientists add +1d10 each, and can only be applied to research projects, which don't have a d100 base roll, and take no action from us. Any project we delegate to them will have an increased DC of +10, do to poor relationship.

we have 3 personal actions, and a 4th roderick can do. each of these actions is a d100.
Roderick can't train for us.
Roderick's actions has an increased DC of +5.

I've made this too complicated, haven't I.

All of that was correct, except that research projects are a d100 base roll. Everything is a d100 roll.

Also, Roderick can train, but his stats would be the ones to increase. You cannot get healthier by watching someone else exercise.

We need to bring in some early results, so that we can justify our presence to our coworkers, before trying to befriend them.

edit: missed the Roderick action, added it in. @veekie , you might want to change your vote if you disagree

Looks good to me. I would say next turn build the ritual room so we can study our grimoire.

And she had named it 'Calcium.' Because that's what bones are made out of.

We have the best naming sense, and we have our priorities straight! Truly this is the start of a wonderful adventure.

Modified the plan to include the High-Res Scanner instead of the Ritual Room. It'll help us progress faster, so the sooner we get that up and running, the better. In addition, I've changed the Assist Action from Fluffkins to Calcium. Us poking our undead bodyguard is going to be a regular thing, so best we get him acclimated to it, and that can be done by being there in person rather than leaving him to strangers who don't like us or him. His loyalty is unbreakable, but it's the least we can do for a friend.
