[X] Refuse on the grounds that you should not insult Finrod's hospitality With 7 votes
Kael'thas POV
You look now from Lúthien to Finrod then back to Lúthien before you say "I do believe our esteemed and gracious host asked me to stop, it would be rude to continue and thus insult his generosity."
With those words you have put Lúthien in a tight place, she cannot pursue the topic any further without running the risk of being asked to stop or worse yet be asked to leave by Finrod. Then again the latter was not likely to happen since it was clear that Finrod did respect Thingol as it were, though why you are not sure.
Is Thingol more powerful than you are aware of or is it that Finrod perceives Thingol to be more powerful than he actually is. Either way you are not going to bring this one up, not in front of Lúthien. Speaking of Lúthien, her face is a mix of dismay and uncertainty. She must be clearly thinking on what to do next, but Finrod thankfully invites you now "Ah here we are, let us sit and eat and drink, perhaps you may tell me why Thingol let his daughter travel with you?"
Now as you gratefully take a seat you notice that there is no meat here, strange, but you are not going to comment on it, well not yet at any rate. You do recall now a rather strange joke you heard before concerning Blood Magisters, that on the contrary to popular belief, they do not drink blood. No in fact you can attest to the truth that they eat regular food just like everyone else.
That being said now as you eat some of the loaves and salad that you have been given. Smile does work its way onto your face as you think about that joke and the annoyance that some may have had due to the ignorance of the masses.
Finrod clearly picks up on your smile now as he asks you "Is the food to your tastes Kael'thas Sunstrider?"
You look up at him, clearly his is trying to break the tension, after all you had said before, you might not have gotten off to the best start. That said you are aware of the fact that the jokes you know might not be the best to tell Finrod or his kin, since they are unlikely to get it. No instead you lie saying "I was simply recalling happier times when I could sit and eat like this, times that are long since past."
Finrod seems to give you a nod that he understands what you are saying and is going to leave it at that. He now looks to Lúthien and asks her "Is the food not to your like?"
She too had sat down, but unlike you, Lúthien was yet to touch any of the food on her plate. No doubt her mind was pondering things to come, but then again you would not claim to know what is on her mind. She is many things, but she does have a few surprises up her sleeves as it were, that you are sure she will reveal to you later.
Lúthien's POV
Looking upon the food that has been served before you, your voice finds itself as you say "It is not that Lord FInrod, it is merely that I have many things on my mind right now."
He graciously gives you a nod before he turns to ask Kael'thas "So, may I inquire to how you convinced Thingol to let his only child travel with you, Kael'thas Sunstrider?"
From what you can tell of Finrod's tone and manner, he is trying to be friendly with Kael'thas, but you feel the sudden urge to speak up correcting Finrod saying "Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider, Lord Finrod, he is Prince Kael'thalas."
Finrod for his part seems a little perturbed by what you just said, but then recalls that you have told him this before. He bows his head in front of you and tells you "Of course, I meant not offense, it is just too much formality will get in the way of familiarity and thus create distance between us."
Kael'thas seems to agree with this too saying "Their is no need for titles between friends or those who desire to be friends, Lúthien."
Your are not sure why, but you do enjoy him saying your name, so now you take a sip of the wine that is to your left before saying "Of course, I forget these things at times, do forgive me."
Finrod is magnanimous now as he says "There is nothing to forgive" and now as he turns to Kael'thas he states "that said, how did you convince Thingol to let his daughter travel with you."
Before Kael'thas who was just about to sip his wine can answer, you do saying "I came of my own free will against the better judgment of my Father, but with the blessings of my Mother. It is my intention that one day I will marry Kael'thas, until then I wish to be by his side so we can enjoy the years we have together."
Kael'thas POV
By the light of the sun, why did she say that, why did she have to say that to Finrod above all things. Said Noldor Lord is now looking at you with an arched eyebrow. But when he speaks the only thing he asks is "From what Lúthien is saying, you are not immortal like us?"
You are thankful that he asked this and not something else, so now nodding you say to him "It is true, my people and I are long lived, but not immortal."
Whatever good he had done before is thrown out the window as he now states "Then why delay, it would just mean that you and Lúthien will be apart for longer and thus lonely and unfulfilled."
You're not sure what is wrong with literally everyone you have met who believe people just fall in love instantly and can stay in love. Thenagain in this relationship you would be the younger of the two of you? Oh never mind that right now, all that you can think of is how strange and innocent this world is or rather how simple things are here. You can't help but feel a little jealous of them for having such a clear cut right and wrong view of the world and the world actually being true to that view.
That said you now are left with the choice of
[] Explaining to Finrod that love where you're from does not happen at first sight and if it does, it is not lasting. That if you are to be with someone for eternity then you have to grow to love them over time bonds between people cannot happen like magic
[] Staying silent and not saying anything, it is not going to do you any good, so just listen to what else they have to say.
[] Explain what happened with Jaina and your views on such things since then.
