Recursion (Star Ocean: Til the End of Time BLIND SI)

The thing with the GEC, is I can't figure out why it was there other than "End of a dungeon, better put a boss here." It's completely unconnected to anything else in the entire game, is never mentioned again, and even the one line of throwaway dialogue it gets as an explanation for it's existence doesn't make much sense. Nel says it's "probably ruled these aqueducts for ages"? Ok... So where was it last time she came through here? She's far too confidant in the ventilation shaft > aqueduct route for me to believe she hasn't taken it before, so why was she surprised by this thing being there?

As for running past it... A crab of that size would have even more trouble with the puzzle in that room than people would - 6 tiny points of weight distribution rather than any sort of surface area. (I did completely forget to mention that detail though, yes.) ...for that matter, fighting it in that room makes no sense either. The part of the room that isn't thin ice is barely any bigger than that thing.

It is true that I was really tired at that point, though. We'll go over it when we get a chance and see if we want to change/add stuff there.

Well @Synth, I have just as much knowledge of this setting as you do. Looking forward to the ride though!
Edit: also, I saw another one of these on here before, it'd be neat if blind SIs became the next fad.

I think a lot of the fun of a blind SI is that it has all of the potential for muchkinry, but without the ridiculous advantage that canon knowledge gives you.

A Star Ocean III SI? A blind SI, too!

You, sir, are an awesome son of a bitch.

All of Square's games have a place in my heart. An entire shelf's place. And the Star Ocean series have the prime spot. I look forward to your reaction to certain things that happen in the future and certain enemies that appear.

Some of those enemies even made their way into my RP.

Hah, so it sounds like we have a monopoly on them so far. Duopoly? Not sure or not it becomes a duopoly if it requires two people in the first place...

A Monopoly can be a specific person, but it can also just be a company or something. Two people can run a company I suppose.

Btw, in case it wasn't brought up yet....

Nel's english voice actress is the same as the one that did Faye Valentine's.

I have played. ...approximately half an hour past the part where Synth is right now, but love Star Ocean. This is definitely on my watch list.

Uh, quick note that Riyshn's actually in the middle of a move right now, so probably won't be any more chapters for the next few days. I am eagerly looking forward to working on this more when he's more available though. In the mean time, I think I'll probably be working on a SI idea that I had. : P

Hello from the road between LA and Vegas! I seem to have completely accidentially (seriously) picked a friend to do this with who greatly prefers driving himself over being a passenger. At this rate I'd be surprised if I end up driving a quarter of this trip.

Final destination: Indianapolis.

"Can't we just… you know, run by it? Sure it might get pissed and chase us… but it's not like it can follow us through that cave entrance behind it, right?"

All three of them had odd looks on their faces, as if they were stunned that they hadn't thought of it themselves. I face-palmed.

I take it back, my power is being trope-aware.
You fool, you know not what you have done. A week from now you'll wake to find a giant claw quietly reaching down to clamp your sleeping body.

...huh. You're leaving my current location for my hometown. This amuses me. Best of luck!

I don't remember how invisitext works in email alerts, but if this is visible, I don't recommend reading any farther if you intend to avoid spoilers. (That means you, Synth.)

Direct quote from the other SI idea Synth mentioned.

Need to be productive. The difference between reality and a perfectly convincing simulation is almost nil. I think, therefore I am. You can't break out of a simulation unless you have a lot of processing power and a means of access to the reality above the simulation you're in. I have neither.

[Insert evil laugh here]

---Nope, that's this one. And there is a reason I invisitext'd it and left the buffer just in case. Him saying that in the other story has absolutely nothing to do with me. It's just what his SI apparently actually thought in the situation.---

It'll be fun to see what Synth thinks of All this invisitext that I'm only using to tease him, I mean since he didn't do a very good job convincing anybody he knew how to engineer things then that means that Nel doesn't have much reason to put much effort into him so he may be regarded as generally irrelevant which should be ... interesting. Particularly if I continue dangling implications
