- [X] SADOS is basically a child. He's neither evil, nor good - like any child he will learn from the adults around him, and especially from the stories they tell him. Stories are the most fundamental teaching device, and one of the main places both you and I learned our morals. Don't you want to be one of the parental figures helping SADOS grow up to be a good person?
[X] MMO-Pet Raising simulator: Look there's nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of people got into games because of Pokemon. You were clearly one of them. But if Nintendo won't man up and give us that damn MMO, well then you will give the people what they need. Not sure how it will fit your genre-maybe if you call it Spirit Allies or something, people will think you're ripping off the Nasuverse instead. That's…better somehow?
[X] Yes I do!

- [X] MMO-Racer: Look, it's a bit of a risk, but people love mounts right? People love Dragons right? You could make a Dragon Racing game! Or even not just dragons-lots of magical creatures to race!
Racer works way better as a side genre; racing pet monsters especially. I'd also be happy with RPG as main and pet-raising as side.

[X] Try to persuade her to accept SADOS
-[X] I'll be honest, we're going to use SADOS no matter what. The ease which an AI offers us is rather incomparable, especially in the potential for automatically-generated quests, so I want you to try out working with it. Maybe play the game it made to give it guidance on how it can improve - AI's learn, and I want you to teach it. BUT, the narrative - and especially the overall narrative - is going to be your kingdom. If, in a month or so, you feel that what SADOS comes up with is unsatisfactory, come talk to me.
[X] Screw it, I want everything. All the features!
-[X] MMO-RPG as the baseline into which people are introduced. FPS as an option for archers/other ranged classes, which provides a bonus for accurate targeting, but WoW-like target selection and button-pressing will remain an option for the filthy casuals.
-[X] Add in some MMO-RTS which will kick in Legendary Moonlight Sculptor-style, i.e. if people build up enough rep w/ a town to become the mayor or acquire a lordship or establish a guild or the like, then RTS elements will come into play. As with FPS, this will feature a hands-on version with more versatility and the potential for *significantly* higher results, and a hands-off-type version where you essentially drag and drop people to assign them to jobs and to dictate which plants and etc. you want grown today.
-[X] Finally, MMO-Political Strategy will come into play as a way to acquire land/leadership/resources or just to backstab other players in a subtle manner. To some degree this would naturally come into play in the same way it has in Eve. But we will make it so players (of certain classes?) will be able to disguise their names, change their faces, etc. in order to infiltrate organizations. In return, player organizations will be given some leeway with how they hand out capabilities to different ranks, manage their resources, etc. and we will elicit open-sourced toolkits from the playerbase which will eventually become incorporated into our game. Political Strategy can be expanded upon later after we have a better understanding of what SADOS is capable of and a salable product. We don't need to release with everything we want to have. This is just laying out the elements of what I envision this game will become.
-[X] Pet Raising as a side game, possibly incorporated into RTS farming elements?
-[X] Dating Simulator as a later expansion of the Political Strategy field.

-[X] MMO-RPG: Why mess with what works? MMOs and RPGs are synonymous with each other, it's the obvious choice.

-[X] "Penny, I understand your displeasure with using an AI but an AI can accomplish certain tasks more efficiently and would ease the possible workload for us."
[X] MMO-FPS: Can you imagine how immersive shooting a gun is in first person with VR will be! We've got to stress this element, even if it's crossbows and not guns. We can even expand it to melee weapons like For Honor and Chivalry tried to do, really stress the visceral elements. Or even magic!
[X] Yes I do!
-[X] MMO-Political Strategy: An Epic Political fantasy, perhaps with player grown kingdoms overthrowing the status quo, or enticing it! Imagine a game where everyone tries to be Littlefinger-it would be glorious.

" I'll be honest," You turn to address Penny. "We're going to use SADOS no matter what.
"The ease which an AI offers us is rather incomparable, especially in the potential for automatically-generated quests," Penny looks like you spat in her drink. "so I want you to try out working with it. Maybe play the game it made to give it guidance on how it can improve - AI's learn, and I want you to teach it."
"Teach the thing that's going to replace me to do my job-" She starts but you interrupt her.
"BUT, the narrative - and especially the overall narrative - is going to be your kingdom. If, in a month or so, you feel that what SADOS comes up with is unsatisfactory, come talk to me." You pause to gauge her reaction.
She takes a deep breath as she seems to struggle with the idea. Finally her shoulders relax.
"I'll give it a shot." She says reluctantly. "One month. It's got one month to prove there's no chance it will turn evil on us."
"Hold on." Nicky interrupts. "Is there another copy of the AI program?"
"No there isn't." You've tried copying it before, but the file size was not only hidden from the control panel, but password protected that you couldn't transfer it even if you wanted to. You need to figure out that password one of these days…
"Well then Penny can't have it for a month. I need it." Nicky starts. "I have to figure out what that AI can do if I'm gonna make an operating system it can use to improve the game."
"Hey, I don't want that thing in the game until I've verified it's safe." Penny argues.
Who are you going to give the laptop to for a month?
[] Penny. You promised her you'd give her a month to see what story telling it can do and be comfortable with it.
[] Nicky. They are your coder, and they need to understand the code.
[] Neither. You're not letting the laptop or that AI out of sight for an entire month! They can check out the laptop under your supervision only.
"Related to this," Morticia begins. "How many months will we set aside for Pre-production and world building?"
"I'm refering to how much time we want to put towards pre-production. I.e., exclusively brainstorming the story of the world and the setting."
Ah yes, that infamous problem. While no one will deny how a good story can do wonders for a game's success, it's rare for a game company to put aside enough time to create the story/setting. Most companies will start building the game before they've finished created the setting or story. Some are even well into the game's production before putting any effort towards the story. This can sometimes lead to games with poor stories, or stories that don't connect with the gameplay. Like an epic story of swords and dragons, but everyone is playing a card game. It could even lead to some parts of the game having to be redone, because they don't work with the new story.
Giving enough time for a story can make the mechanics support a story and vice versa. However, you are on a very tight timeframe-giving up months for making a story without working on gameplay could be dangerous. And expensive-you'll be paying their salary to keep your game developer on contract despite not giving them work.
So how many months will you set aside for pre-production/world building? (Choose 1)
[] 0- We've got no time to waste, we can figure out the story as we go along.
[] 1- We should put at least a token effort towards making a world, but we can't spare too much time.
[] 3- We can give this game a good amount of time. Yes it's 1/12th of our full time, but it's important to get as much sorted as possible.
[] 6- A beyond generous amount of time and 1/6th of our full time, but damn it this is an RPG. We need to get the story right before we even touch that VR set.
Your team leaves, in different states of good will. You're alone in the room with your laptop. You wanted to type up the minutes for the AI, so it could know what happened. After a moment it responds to you.
I have something for you.
You do? You type.
Suddenly the text began to form gibberish. It took you a while to realise it was trying to use text to create an image, like you see in Youtube comments trying to be clever. However this one appears to be a design for a square piece with some words on it.
What's this? You ask surprised.
It's a business card. It responds. With your name, the name of the company and the company logo.
[] (Your name) [Write-in]
[] (Your Logo) [Describe or Submit an image)
You're shocked beyond belief. There is a logo, a very pixelated one, but this must have taken a lot of effort for a text based program to make. You're amazed it was capable of this.
What do you think? It enquirers.
I think, you type back with a smile.

-[X] Say something along the gist of: "Assuming that all of us agrees that the AI is perfectly safe, it's the key to this operation. Therefore, I'm not going to let it out of my sights for long. And, since both of you want to use it and both you have a good reason to do so, I'm not going to give it exclusively to just one of you. You two can work out how and when you each will access the AI, and come to me to get it. I'd like to note here that as an AI it's probably fairly good at doing stuff in the background & it's not like you will need to constantly interact with it. 3 months should get us enough to work with without wasting too much time that could've been spend on the game itself. The rest of the story can be worked on during production. Penny'll get it to help start the story and Nicky should still have 2 months left to figure out the code before we start working on the game.

So use your time with it wisely and give it some homework that you can look over when you see it again."
[X] 3- We can give this game a good amount of time. Yes it's 1/12th of our full time, but it's important to get as much sorted as possible.

-[X] MMO-RPG: Why mess with what works? MMOs and RPGs are synonymous with each other, it's the obvious choice.

[X] MMO-RTS: These games are having some degree of success, so you could make it work. Total War shows that can work but being a leader, either from the front or the backseat general, could be kinda cool.
[X] Yes I do!
-[X] MMO-Political Strategy: An Epic Political fantasy, perhaps with player grown kingdoms overthrowing the status quo, or enticing it! Imagine a game where everyone tries to be Littlefinger-it would be glorious.

[X] 6- A beyond generous amount of time and 1/6th of our full time, but damn it this is an RPG. We need to get the story right before we even touch that VR set.

I want to get the story fully fleshed out, no hiccups, no plot holes, no enemy out of nowhere, no magic metal that didn't exist two years ago in RL is now 'rediscovered' in huge quantities in-game .
