[x] Apologize to Indrajit, wide broadcast. (1.1x)

I honestly want to take all the options, but I think I like this one most.

[x] Apologize to Indrajit, wide broadcast. (1.1x)

One has to wonder how Ilana would react when she learns that we've been racing to free our brother.

Maybe she'll free him in our stead?

[X] Tell Chandra to take care of Harmeet for you.

[] No Interlude Vote. All of them sound great.

"Chandra," Ravana manages to whisper out. "I'm sorry. I fucked up. I wasn't good enough, wasn't strong enough. I wasn't fast enough to free my brother. Please, do what you can to keep my memory, and his, alive. I've failed, but you might be able to succeed." It just isn't fair. It never was fair, you realize with clarity. The odds were stacked against you. You never had a chance to win against this crowd. And with this understanding comes wisdom. You realize that there was just so much against you. They paid Cyborg off to make sure you wouldn't win, they probably set up the other racers just so they'd be more than willing to ensure you wouldn't end up in first even if they lost their chance at first. Undoubtedly these racers are getting paid off as you speak. The rage wells, but with it great power.

Is this an Exaltation? You ask? No, this wisdom is coming from something else. Something powerful welling in yourself, an innate understanding that reality plays by a certain set of rules. Those rules need to be broken. The laws of the jungle, the laws of this shit-heap of a society you live in, the laws of the Exalted Ones, the laws of reality. Those rules all are the same, all are immutable invulnerable juggernauts a mere human cannot break. But-

-if you weren't a mere human-

-could you grasp something more? If you understood your potential, what could you unleash? A power more awesome than the shackled machinery of AI gods. A power that can make the universe sit up and take notice. A power that burns so brightly, so quickly, if left unchecked it will kill you.

I'll admit, I laughed when you said there was no Solar option.

Judge a man not only by how he lives (fast, and on more drugs than most people can name) but by how he spends that life (filial love and caring.)
Set your sights way to high.
Living's in the way we die.

We'll die in style, at least.

[17:38] [havocfett] Nice roll MJ12, post it in the thread

I was explicitly told!
Ah, fair enough. Didn't see that bit (was possibly a bit too busy cackling). Deleting my post.

One last attempt to get him freed.

[X] Ilana Interlude

I'm curious as to what kind of person she's become now.

No. No, there has to be something Ravana can do. He'd flown for the first time on scrap, spit, and a daredevil promise that only he had taken at all seriously, and even with no engines, no thrusters, nothing but wings this heap of metal is still more airworthy than that had been-

-but he hadn't been going this fast, then. The witty labels on the controls stare blankly back at him as one after another, they fail to provide any answers. His flight is as stable as it will get, he'll be burning as much speed as he possibly can, and he won't smash headlong into anything before hitting the ground. That's the best he can do. Nothing more is within the power of even the best human- and he should know, because he is the best.

For all the good it'll do him.

Twelve seconds to impact. At least he'll hit before he has to hear anyone else win; that would just be humiliating. A red smear can't envy anyone anything.

It can't save anyone, either. Or take mercy as its prize.

"I'm sorry, Indrajit. So sorry," Ravana whispers into his communicator. He can't hear, but someone will record it, let him know eventually. "I tried to save you and only cost you me. You always said I'd get myself killed someday."

Four seconds. What more could he say? Shouldn't he be packing his last words with something worthwhile? But nothing profound comes. Still, he opens his mouth to talk anyway.

"Funny; our passions got us, in the end. You and your politics, me and the sk-"

IDK why, but this feels the most appropriate.

I'm a sucker for threats of haunting.

See You, Space Cowboy
See You, Space Cowboy

Ravana laughs, a bitter, hacking sound. There's so much smoke in the cockpit. "Guess you win our race," he says to Chandra, "Look after Harmeet for me."

The ground is approaching very, very quickly. These are his last words. He should make them count.

"If you don't, I'll haunt the fuck out of you," he manages. Chandra returns a weak smile.

The last thing he hears is Harmeet screaming "Rav!" over the speakers, audibly choking back tears. Ravana looks at her screen, see the tears streaking down her face. He gives her one last smile.

Then there's flame, and earth. It all goes dark.

End of Act One

Interlude Vote Is Still Open.

I feel obligated to warn you that it isn't going to work or get Ilana to use her Boon to free Indrajit. I'm fine with people voting for it, but I'd rather they did it for the right reasons.
Fair enough, I'm fine with the attempt being doomed.

[X] Harmeet Interlude

Well, that wasn't a bad death, was it? Very choerent with Ravana's life.

Live fast, die young.
