Raising a Monster

Here's the math for the next update. Let me know if I missed anything:

Howard: 84 + 55 (Tranquil + Marine) + 60 (Zen + Marine) – 10 (Broken Ribs) + 20 (Charge) + 40 (Annihilator) – 45 (Tendrils) + 76 (Ana) = 225
Ghaiogrilb: 85 + 50 (Feed) + 30 (Eldritch) + 45 (Tendrils) – 80 (FEED!) - 40 (Amulet) – 65 (Eternal Hunger) – 35 (Survivor) = -10

……………………………… Ana, I would kiss ya' if not for the physical age gap and this damnable 4th wall! Also, Chester is probably going to wind up kissing the lass' out of relief, so I'll just put up a delayed vote for what to do if that happens:
[X] Grab Chester by the scruff of his neck, lift him up + turn him around until your both at eye level, activate belief powers (pushing the environmental effects to their limits) and coldly ask "What. Do you think. You are doing. With My DAUGHTER?!"

Gonna have to push the update to next week. Have an Exam I got to study for this week.

Don't worry, just another day or 2 until the Weekend! Quick question, why are you pushing it to next week, when you could just put it up this weekend? Also, to prevent any dissonance or mistranslation between us, I would like to point out that I measure a week as lasting from 12 am, Monday Morning to 12 am Sunday Night. I'm aware that people measure it differently, but that is how I do it.

Cause I have work on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, then Tuesday. Work starts tomorrow, then I'll immediately have my Exam once my shift is over. I'm not sure if I'll be able to write a good update while having to deal with all that.

Well, I got lucky and work's gonna be slow tomorrow. Meaning I won't have anything to do. So, I'll try and get some writing in tonight and tomorrow.

The Battle Ends
Ghaiogrilb loses 200 Stability due to Eternal Hunger!
Howard: 84 + 55 (Tranquil + Marine) + 60 (Zen + Marine) – 10 (Broken Ribs) + 20 (Charge) + 40 (Annihilator) – 45 (Tendrils) + 74 (Ana) = 225

Steps.

That's what gets you closer to the monstrosity in front of you.

Just simple, little steps.

Two tendrils come at you, both at angles to make them difficult to dodge.

You take one step forward, turn your body sideways, and wait.

They fly past you, barely nicking the hair on your chin.

You keep stepping forward as the tendrils that attacked you retract. They're slower now, evidence that your opponent is getting weaker by the second.

Another tendril is sent straight at you, it's pitch black skin filling your vision. The gnashing, viscous mouths have not slowed in their movements. You can hear the grinding of their teeth as they rocket towards you.

You take one step to the right, letting the appendage fly past.

You keep walking forward.

As this dance repeats itself, the monster attacking and you making minute movements to dodge, you study every aspect of the enemy you can. Every inch of their melting form, every small movement of the tongues in its gaping mouths, the twitching of the antennae on its head, and its struggle as the chains around its body continue to constrain it.

Your brain works overtime just to find one, simple thing; a weakness.

Because, even with Weston's help, you couldn't kill this thing.

No matter how much anger you put into it, no matter how many times you hit it, it wouldn't die...under normal circumstances.

However, the one thing you need to end this monster is already on its body.

You'll have to thank Volkar for that later.

By now you're close enough to the Eldritch to see how far you've pushed it. The chains around its body have embedded themselves. Smoke rises from the bright blue metal, black ichor dripping from their sides. The mouths across the creature's body all have their tongues out, lapping away the air in attempt to gain a bit of sustenance from it. What could pass for its head droops to one side as it "stares," the black text fading in and out of existence across its frame.

You look the creature up and down, not worried about any kind of retaliation. You're close enough that it can't counter attack without putting itself in danger. You stand tall, your back straight, your mouth set, and feet planted.

You return the monster's stare...then sigh while shaking your head.

"Under normal circumstances, I would feel sorry for you," you lift your right hand up while bending your elbow back. You don't know if this thing can understand what you're saying, but that doesn't matter. If it won't understand your words, it will understand your actions.

"While I don't know where you came from, or how long you've been here, I can understand one thing; how it feels to have people invade your home," its head remains cocked to the side as you move your right hand forward.

"Just one day, out of the blue, a bunch of people show up to your home and uproot your whole life. You probably don't want trouble or anything, you just want these people to get out of your home. Because of that, I would feel sorry for you," you let one finger rest against its chest...right on the smooth surface of the Amulet.

The creature realizes what you're doing much too late.

"However," you say as you start to push the Amulet deeper into the monster's body. There's very little resistance as the pliable flesh makes way for the old stone trinket. You keep your voice as calm as possible as you continue, "there are many things that you have done that prevent me from feeling that way. The first being, that you tried to kill me and my friends."

You add a second finger and push the Amulet in deeper.

"Second, you killed and ate children," you add two more fingers, now elbow deep in the monster's chest.

Behind you the tendrils have gone still, flopping onto the ground with all the life drained from them.

"But, above all else," you draw your hand back slightly, turn your palm up, then grip the entire amulet.

The monster "stares" you in the face one last time.

You meet it with the coldest gaze you can manage, as you speak with the calmness and edge that only one type of person can manage:

A father.

"You tried. To hurt. My. Daughter."

You shove your arm upwards.

There's the sound of flesh tearing.

(90 + 65 = 155 Stability Lost)

You stand there, your entire arm slammed upward into the monster's chest.

Then you calmly extricate yourself from it.

You take two steps back.

The things on the creature's head twitch one last time.

Blue chains erupt out of it's skin, wrapping themselves around it's entire body. It screams even as the burning, azure metal encases the mouths that cover its form. All attempts to feed on the chains end with their teeth shattered and tongues torn away. Soon the chains begin to wrap themselves around the tendrils as well. The smell of burning refuse infest the air around you, but you do not falter.

Your eyes remain glued to the burning mound of flesh.

You watch as it is encased in a prison that will be its end.

You watch as its body is burned, flaking away into the ether to never be seen again.

You watch as an Eldritch dies.

And, as quickly as it began, it's over.

The only thing left over is the shattered form of the Amulet on the ground.

(Amulet of Mantorok Lost!)

You wait a few more minutes before you take in a deep, deep breath.

As it leaves your body, so too does all the tension.

The sound of a whistle makes you turn towards the stairway. There you see the Harrowmont family watching over the proceedings. Specifically, you see Chester and Mauve waving at you excitedly. Both are little worse for wear, with only a few cuts and bruises here and there. Behind them, coming down the steps, is Volkar with Barbara carrying him. His right side is extremely damaged, with his leg and arm hanging limply at his side.

This does nothing to stop him from lifting up his injured arm and giving you a thumbs up.

You see Olly's hand waving to you from behind the rock you placed her against.

Weston steps forward, places a hand on your shoulder, and gives you a nod that says everything he wants to without words.

You stare at all your friends in turn and nod to each and everyone of them.

Then everything goes black and the last thing you remember is the feeling of sand getting into your eyes.

This is the end of part 1, I plan to put everything else in a coming update. So, just hold tight!

Hope you all enjoy!

Well, good to know we can channel Asura when we need to, or at the very least a fraction of a fraction of his anger.

So, who's up for ice cream after we get a couple of casts and a blood transfusion?

Best Dad, our little Outer Goddess Daughteru is certainly going to be inspired to live up to our example when she grows up :3

Day 27
You open your eyes, only to immediately try to close them after a blinding light hits your retinas. A groan escapes your lips as you cover your eyes with your right arm. You feel a sharp pain as your arm moves, making you shift in your...bed?

You just lie there for a few seconds, your brain moving at a snails pace as it tries to understand what the current situation is.

Then it all comes rushing back to you.

You quickly push yourself up, but that turns out to be a mistake. A sharp pain shoots through your body, causing you to place your left arm over your chest. Your breathing comes in short, slightly painful burst as your eyes adjust to the bright light around you. As your sight clears away you start to make out the various objects in the room. A TV that has been bolted into the wall directly in front of you, a door set into the corner with the symbol for 'Restroom' on it, and a camera in the upper right corner of the room.

A glance to your left reveals a large window with it's curtains drawn back, the slightly orange light seeping into the room. To your right is what is obviously the exit door with a sink and cabinet arrangement directly to it's right.

Your eyes roam the room in confusion, until a pricking in your right arm causes you to wince. You look down and see a small tube stabbed into your veins. The tube leads up to a large bag with a clear liquid inside, slowly dripping into the tube. Next to it is a machine with numbers on...oh.

You're in a hospital.

That's...less distressing than what you were thinking.

You let your body relax until the sound of the door opening causes you to stiffen again. Your head jerks to look at the door as in steps a woman in a green shirt and pants, a stethoscope hanging from her neck. She sees you the moment you see her, the tension leaving your body again.

You try to speak to the nurse, but only a groan escapes your lips. You lay backwards as your headache comes back with a vengeance.

Fantastic.

A migraine is just what you need after everything that happened.

You start to shut your eyes as the door closes and the sound of footsteps leading away from your room reaches your ears.

Then your eyes shoot open as the sound of a multitude of footsteps heading towards your room reaches your ears.

You frown as you sit up in your bed, shooting a death glare at the door. You normally wouldn't be this disagreeable but you deserve some rest after fighting a freaking Eldritch Abomination! You don't care if they're a doctor or not, whoever comes through that door is gonna get a piece of your—

A small, blonde child just about knocks the door off its hinges.

Your migraine, frustration, fatigue, it all disappears at the sight of her.

[Trust: 10]

You hold out your arms as she just about tackles you into the bed.

You embrace your daughter for the first time in what feels like forever, letting the rest of the world melt away. She nuzzles into your neck while you stroke her hair. You stay like that, letting your actions speak more than any words could. Time seems to slow down as you both remain locked in a familial embrace for what feels like hours.

The sound of a cough is what brings you back to reality. You look up from the hug and see the room has suddenly become very lively. To your right are Volkar, Barbara, and Chester all in various states of injury. Chester and Barbara aren't much worse for wear. They just have some small white patches here and there on their bodies. Barbara stays near her husband, holding onto his arm to support him, while Chester is holding onto the edge of your bed with a big smile on his face.

Volk on the other hand, is the worst of the three. His right arm is in a sling that hangs from his neck, he's holding a crutch in the crook of his left arm, and half of his face has been wrapped in gauze. His right leg is in the same shape, wrapped up and bent backwards at the knee. Despite this, his remaining eye looks at you amicably, backed up by a wide smile. The beaming actually makes you slightly embarrassed.

On your left is Olly, back in her human form with Weston standing behind her. She has her hands clasped together with a kind smile on her face that bellies the numerous bandages wrapped around her chest. Much like the Harrowmonts, and you once you look at your shoulder, she has on a green hospital gown with a split in the middle. Her hair has been combed out and hangs around her shoulders.

Weston, in contrast, is the only one of you wearing anything approaching normal clothing. How that man was able to get the doctors to let him where his standard green shirt and blue jeans after he got smacked by a tendril as big as his body is beyond you. In fact, you don't see any hint of injuries across his body. He's just standing there with his arms crossed looking at you with...pity? You can't really tell from here.

Soon, Ana realizes what she's doing and quickly hops off the bed. She lands on her feet next to Olly, coughs into her hand, then places both her arms behind her back. She looks up at you with the same impassive look she always has on, "W-well, it's good to see you're awake father. How are you feeling?"

You smile, reach out with your left hand, and start to pat her head, "A lot better, now that you all are here." She stiffens a bit but doesn't do anything to pull away from you.

You look up at everyone else, "So, how long was-"

A second blur, this one gray but just as small, jumps up onto the bed and drives the air out of your lungs. You're face to face with Chester, his eyes and smile beaming with the kind of childlike worship that is saved for movie stars. A thumping sound comes from the bed as his tail thrashes around in elation behind him.

His voice is high pitched and excited as he ask, "Is what Mr. Weston said true? Did you really beat the monster with your bare hands?"

"Um, uh, well," you instinctively start to place your arm behind your head. You wince as the movement pulls at your ribs. Chester clearly saw it, as his face falls in shame before he jumps down from the bed. His mother picks him up and starts to hug him to make him feel better. A thumbs up from you brings his face back to the hyperactive child you know.

You cough into your hand before speaking, "Well, Chester, it didn't necessarily go like that..."

"No need to be so modest, father," Ana says while gently moving your hand off her head, "I saw all that transpired. By all accounts, you did indeed fight with little more than your own two fist."

"Well, yeah, but Weston-"

"Gonna stop you right there, Craft," your boss says while holding up a hand, "All I did was put some buckshot straight into its body. You're the one that decided shoving your entire arm into its chest was the way to go. And it worked too, so own up to it. Bask in your own glory a bit."

"Devon's right, man," Volkar's voice is slightly pained but he doesn't show it on his face, "When I gave you the amulet, I thought you'd just use it to keep the thing pinned. But making it eat the thing? That was pure genius."

You just keep getting more red faced as the praise keeps coming, that is until Olly picks up your hand. She fidgets for a bit before saying, "When I saw you go to fight that thing on your own, I was...really worried for you. But Mr. Weston told me what happened and...well, I just thought...you sounded really...cool."

...Well, if they put it that way...

You chuckle as Olly lets go of your hand, "Well, it was pretty cool wasn't it? I mean I...wait, did anyone hear what I said when I..."

Everyone in the room looks at each other with a knowing smile, which immediately sets you on edge. Devon and Volkar move to the center of the room. Devon places his hand against the werewolf's chest. Volkar starts to bend as Devon puts a hand on his shoulder. He then says, in his best mockery of your voice, "You tried. To hurt. My. Daughter."

With an exclamation he mimes pushing his hand into Volkar's chest, which causes the werewolf to feign a face of intense pain. Then the two of them start to laugh while Barbara, Chester, and Olly clap with smiles on their faces. You feel the embarrassment start to climb its way up your chest, making you groan. Ana stands on her tiptoes as she places a hand on your shoulder to comfort you. You mentally thank her for being your one bastion of moral support in this sea of mocking flattery.

Once the laughing stops, you notice that you're missing one person. You ask after Maeve and Barbara answers you, "She didn't have many injuries, so she got released early. She said she'd head home and keep watch until we get back."

You nod in understanding, "Makes sense. So, how long was I out?"

This one question is enough to completely change the mood of the room.

The adults all start looking at the floor, while Ana and Chester look towards Mr. Weston. The principal steps over to the front of your bed and answers, "You were unconscious for about three days, Craft. Me and Ms. Rivauld carried you to the hospital, where your 'daughter' was waiting for us."

You frown at how he says "daughter". As if it's a slur or a curse instead of what Ana is.

Weston sees Volkar's eyes dart towards the camera, so the human holds up a hand, "Relax. I took care of that. They can't hear a single thing we're saying in here, they'll only see looping footage of today, and I specifically asked for us to be left alone. No one else is coming."

He turns back to you, "They moved you to a room almost immediately, sent Volkar to the ICU and the rest of em to the Emergency rooms. I made sure to hide any of my obvious injuries, so they let me stay with your 'daughter'. She told me quite a bit about the two of you, and what she is."

You look towards Ana who nods, "You did promise to tell him everything once the battle was over. Since you were incapacitated, that promise fell to me. I've done all I can to try to convince him that I am not planning anything sinister. But I'm afraid he is the stubborn type of human."

"Not stubborn," Weston says as he places two hands on the rails to your bed, "Simply pragmatic and cautious. Don't worry, Craft. I'll keep your secret, but that's only because I trust you. Not this 'thing' you call a-"

"Don't call her that," you start to lift yourself up. You ignore the pain your ribs give you as you look Weston in the eyes, "Don't call my daughter a 'thing'. Her name is Anastasia Craft."

Weston regards you with as much fear as one would give a gnat. He knows you can't hurt him. Especially with your injuries. You know it too, but you refuse to back down when someone insults your daughter like this.

You hear a low growl and see Chester flexing his hands while staring at Weston with suppressed anger. The rest of the mythics in the room are doing the same, all their eyes glaring at the one man at the center of the room.

You see no fear enter Weston's features.

Seemingly unfazed by the threat of getting pounced by at least six mythics, he continues his speech, "As you wish. But heed my warnings, Craft. There's a fine line between kindness and foolishness. I'll be around to make sure you don't cross it."

(Obtained the Devon Weston (The Marine) SL! SL starts at level 2!)

"Back to other matters," he stands up and moves to the exit door. He looks through the glass window while speaking, "Your daughter and I went on a little expedition to ensure that the Cult was gone for good. Thankfully, we either got all the bastards at the school or the death of their 'master' demoralized them enough to give themselves up to law enforcement. There's no trace of the Eldritch any more, all the other teachers are safe, and not a single person knows that any of us were involved."

You're about to breathe a sigh of relief when Weston comes back to your bed, "That's the good news. Now the bad news. You, Ms. Rivauld, and I are out of the job."

"Wait, what?!?!" you sit up quickly, looking between Weston and Olly with an unbelieving look on your face, "What are you talking about?!? Didn't you say-"

"No knows that we were involved, Craft," Weston continues, "but the day after we put you in the hospital, I called in law enforcement. You didn't really expect me, the Principal of Crossroads Academy, to keep quiet about a secret underground Cult that was operating under my nose? It would destroy the school's reputation and put the teachers in danger of being investigated for negligence. By contacting them myself, I'm able to make sure that doesn't happen."

"Well, yeah, but why....oh," everything suddenly clicks in your head. Weston and Olly nod while you start to put it altogether. Law enforcement found the secret hideout of the cult. Meaning they found the skeletons underneath it. They reported it to their superiors, and any news reporter with a gilded tongue who happened to be nearby. The News hit the TVs, then the internet, now everyone is calling for something to be done. Specifically, something needed to be done to placate the public.

The Courts had to order that the school be shut down until they can get the bodies out, bring those responsible to justice, and dismantle the hideout without collapsing the entire school.

So, until that happens, you don't have a job anymore.

You...can't really say anything to that.

It's just an unlucky consequence.

(Temporarily Lost High School Teacher Job!)

You look up at Weston for more, but the man simply shrugs and shakes his head. You feel slightly relieved that no more bad news is coming, but that doesn't lessen the sting of losing your job. Even if it is only temporary, how are you supposed to make a living now?

Someone taps you on the shoulder and you look up to see Volkar, giving you a smile, "Don't worry too much. If you need anything, just ask us and we'll do what we can."

"As will I," Olly says with conviction, "I-I want to help you anyway I can."

You look between the Harrowmonts and Olly, too touched by their kindness to even reply. You simply mouth the words, "Thank you," before leaning back with a smile on your face. You close your eyes for a moment, then open them and say, "So, when am I getting out of here?"

Instead of answering you, everyone just stands there smiling. Except Weston, who has his hand against his chin, deep in thought about something or other.

You frown in confusion, "Um, guys?"

Everyone suddenly jumps at your tone of voice. Barbara says, "Oh, did you say something, Howard?"

"Yeah," you start to sit up, "I said, when am I getting out of here?"

Again everyone just sits there with confused stares, so you repeat yourself, "I said, when am I getting out?"

"Oh," Barbara says in surprise, "Th-they said they'll keep you for two more days. Olly was the first one to check."

The lamia nods embarrassed, while you have questions swarming around your head. What the heck was that? Why did you have to repeat what you said? Didn't everyone hear you the first time?

"May I have everyone's attention?" you all look down at Ana, who has her right hand raised to be seen. She lets it fall behind her back once all eyes are on her, "Could you all please leave the room? I would like to speak to my father in private. If you please."

The Harrowmonts look at each other, while Chester voices his concerns, "Is something wrong, Ana?"

"Not at all, Chester," she gives the boy as sweet a smile as she can, "Everything is just fine. I promise."

That seems to be enough to convince him, and the Harrowmonts soon leave the room. Olly goes next, but not before she gently kisses your hand. She smiles at you while walking out of the room. Weston gives you a single nod and follows after her.

You look at Ana and say, "What did you want to talk about, sweety?"

She looks at you with the same impassiveness as always, making you think this will be a lecture over being more focused on your own survival. But, something in her eyes causes you to think differently. Before you can analyze it any further, she bends down and grabs the remote to the TV built into the roof.

As she places it in your right hand she says, "Father, I want you to throw this at me." At your shocked expression she raises up a hand, "Do not worry. I assure you I will catch it before it causes me any harm."

"I understand that, but...why?" your question goes unanswered as Ana simply steps back until she's satisfied with the distance between you. She waves her hand to give you the go ahead.

You hesitate for a long time, your fatherly instincts warring with your trust in your daughter. Eventually, your trust wins out and you throw the remote.

Or at least, you think you do.

But nothing happens.

Ana stands there with no remote in her hands.

You're confused, and about to repeat the action...when you finally see the reason.

Specifically, you see your own arm move.

Everything seems to move in slow motion as your arm rears as far back as it can, your whole body following it, until it throws the object right at Ana.

You realize what happened the moment Ana grabs the remote in her hand.

You both just stare at each other for a long, long time.

Then you place your head in your hands, as your pulse begins to quicken. Your heart beat hammers in your chest, the heart monitor starts to go crazy, and your breathing comes in quick burst.

Thi-this can't be.

Wh-what-what the hell happened to you?!

Did that thing hit you harder than you thought?

What-what happened?

"I was afraid of this," Ana comes up and sits on the side of the bed. She places a hand on your shoulder and starts to massage it. In your panicked state, her soft hand gives you an anchor. Your heart beat slows as she continues, "Using Belief for an extended period of time, even for a mere five minutes, can cause terrible damage to one as untrained as yourself. During the battle, your mind was processing information at a rapid pace, but the adrenaline pumping through your body helped it keep up with the impulses. Then, it was a blessing. Now, it's a curse. Your body can't keep up with the speed of the information and directions sent from your brain. You're thinking faster than you can act. It will not last forever, a mere two weeks at most, but...it will be a difficult two weeks."

(Perk Gained: A Golden Experience: You think faster than you move. (-25 Penalty to all actions for two weeks))

You can't even think up a response. All you can do is sit there with your head in your hands as everything hits you at once. You know conflating the bad won't do you any good, but you can't help it.

Volkar has lost the use of his arms, you've made a bunch of people lose their jobs, including yourself, Weston found out about Ana and doesn't trust her, the public's found out about the Cult under your school and there is no way some curious reporter won't trace that back to you, and now you've got this fucking disability from using the only thing that let you survive that fight!

It all just....It all just makes you think....

"Ana," you don't want the words to come out, but they do anyway, "Did we win? Can we really call this, a victory?"

Ana is silent for a long time. You look her in the eyes, desperately searching for an answer.

Finally, she replies, "I am old, father. Very, very, very old. I have seen humans fight for many reasons. Sometimes they are petty, like losing at a pointless competition. Other times they are foolish, like eradicating something as subjective as 'evil' from the world entirely. Other times, it is simply because they are so wretched in their existence that there is no other way to live."

Her words cut into you like a knife, causing your condition to worsen. A dark pit begins to form in your chest...until it is squashed by the shining light of your daughter's smile.

"This is not one of those times," she says with a finality, "you fought for something that no one can truly hold against you. You fought for others. You fought for your family. You fought for me. Because you wanted to make sure I was safe. And though, considering what I am, that notion may be a foolish one..."

She gives you a sudden, sincere hug, "I will forever be grateful for it. So, yes, father. This was a victory."

You say nothing.

You don't have to.

All you do is hug her back.

Cause that's all that matters.

Your safe.

Your friends are safe.

She's safe.

Fuck everything else.

If you're confused about the Belief Drawback, think of what Golden Experience did to Bruno when it punched him.

Outside of that, I hope you all enjoyed, and thank you for sticking around as long as you have.

A good end to this battle.
Except people are going to snoop. That notoriety 6 is worrying.
Which means:
[X] Contact your Followers: Telepathy sure is handy (Contact Isha and Mathew)
-[X] Tell them to go and watch your house (???)

Need to protect privacy and the home to come back to.

Now, I got two questions on the Golden Experience:
-Does it overall increase amount of subjective time Howard spends?
-If so... does it impede actions such as reading equally to more physical actions? Flipping pages may be awkward, but... would it slow down his eyeballs too much? Make the whole process awkard, thus distracting him?
Because this perk is frankly something I'd like to have a day before exams. :p

But either way, I am almost scared of doing stuff, since it's so easy to roll something awful now.

[X] Read the Journal: Ana brought with her from home. She such a sweet girl. (Learn more about Ana and Eldritch)

Worst that could happen here is giving up on reading from sheer frustration.
... Or ripping out a page due to a body-mind miscommunication.

Basically people are going to be investigating all the teachers from the school, so it's best to make sure no one gets too invested in our home, next we should socialise more, these people just risked life and limb for us, we should at least say thank you to one or two of them

Long story short, it's the negative version of the "Thinking Really Fast" thing from anime.

There's a reason our brains are only able to process a finite amount of information at a time, that being our physical bodies can't keep up.

Doesn't mean you're smarter or that you figure things out faster, just that your mind sends impulses telling your body to do something, but they hit your nerves faster than your body can react. So, what ends up happening is you think you do something, but your body doesn't act.

Edit: So yes, it would translate to eye balls.
