[Quest] The Noble Virtue of a Sun's Return

Simple: I adjusted them to the standards of Gensokyo. Compared to the FSN...yeah not funny. Also don't think Karna is too OP: what I gave to him is just enough to deal with what I have in store for the future. I got crazy plans!

Marisa and Reimu, the two Main Characters (in Touhou).

Didn't every know relation in Gensokyo began with misunderstandings and violence? I didn't want him to have it easy, even at the beginning. But I assure you, when he gets friends it's for life. He is a Bro like that.
Also its rob not robber.

Alexander89 said:
"He is immune to magic? That's cheating, ze!"
"No he is not. It only means you need strong magic to harm him."
Be glad you aren't squaring off against Joan Marisa.
Alexander89 said:
"It reminds me of someone..."
"Me too. Let's hope those two never meet."
Is that you Shikieiki?
Alexander89 said:
"Yes I think he will. I also think you have meet the only one person you will never be able to robber."
It's "rob".

HymnOfRagnarok said:
Should he have Independent Action of some kind? If he's producing his own prana then....actually, I'm not entirely sure what that makes him.

I think Servants are pretty much universally inferior to what they were in life, even in stats. Also, haven't read FA yet, but was that Karna maxed out?

Finally, highest rank of Divinity would be A+. It's the highest we see in canon, Gilgamesh would have it if he didn't have such a massive hate boner for the gods that it gets knocked down to B.
Divinity: A (As the son of the Sun Deity Surya and having united with Surya after death, Karna possesses one of the highest Divine Spirit aptitudes. This Divine Spirit aptitude exhibits high defensive power in regards to sun deity-lineage's Heroic Spirits of Divinity B or lower.
Better?

He doesn't need IA because Gensokyo is cut off from Gaia's Counter Force. He's producing his own prana and absorbing it from the atmosphere. He is similar to a Servant, only better.

He wasn't, but this is Heroic Spirit Karna: a perfect existence with no Servant Class nerfing and a massive power boost from all his fame.

Edit: changed to "rob". Thanks people.

Yeah, that makes sense. Doesn't matter what OP bullshit you can do if your opponent can decapitate you at mach 4 (or whatever it is a true Heroic Spirit can manage) before you can use it. Would make for a very short and dull quest.

And I really should have guessed that it was Reimu that Marisa was talking with. *Facepalms*

Crazy plans? Well... this'll be fun. :D

[X] Explore the sunflowers field more.
-[X] Devote most of your attention to enjoying the natural beauty, but keep an eye out for signs of people.

Suggestion:

"Yes I think he will. I also think this guy is about the only person you will never be able to rob."

Also as I see it, in terms of power scale:

Human Scale ---> Servant Scale ---> Heroic/Divine Spirit Scale

Alexander89 said:
Beside being good fertilizer for he plants you mean? Joking aside what reason are you talking? I am interested: Touhou lore is so large...
There is no specific reason.

There no specific reason beyond that would would make plant youkai love water, bird youkai love sky, and et cetera.

Things like that do matter in relationship between beings what are really influenced by the concepts, and, in most cases, actually are human understanding of concept "----" given flesh.

Why not Yuuka, a flower youkai who lives in garden what named Garden of Sun would not feel some sympathy for someone who pretty much "the Sun God given human form"? When people put such importance to relationships between Sun and Plants?

That said, did you read a Perfect Memento in a Strict Sense? Сould we use it as a more-or-less (To some extents; Its canon what Akuu borked some facts) reliable source of OOC information?

Servants bodies created by Grail have some pre-set stats. In rare cases it might be not impossible what being a Servant boost one of their stat or another, like it probably was for Arturia.

Her legends does not have any legendary feats of prowess against magic, but yet, here it is, Resistance to Magic A. Aside from this little details, I always believed Servants[Heroic Spirits to be true.

HymnOfRagnarok said:
Eh, IIRC they aren't pre-set stats so much as guidelines. Saber dips below a few of these as Alter, under Kiritsugu, and under Shirou. I think. I'd have to check to be sure.
Well, its not like the containers were made to make Servants own stats meaningless?

And yet, its less guidelines and more like stats of equipment. Rider body, Saber Body, Caster body... They either enchant or decrease natural affinities of HS or, in case of Extra or Riders ability to ride everything including things what they never should have knew how to ride, they actually add something what HS were unable to do in-life.

Cancel spells with a chant below two verses. Cannot defend against Magecraft on the level of High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals. (Because she herself does not have any Magic Resistance, Nero boasts a low level that is unbecoming of the Saber Class)
Its a sum of factors.

HymnOfRagnarok said:
I checked. Each class, without a Heroic Spirit, has its own stat. But those stats are modified by the Heroic Spirit themselves and the Master lifestyle. So certain factors can make the HS weaker than they were. Mostly Master problems though.

Yes, it is a sum of factors.
So, we agree?.. I kinda did the same. I generally tend to check things, if I can.
Although if I catch your drift you're implying a Servant shell make a Servant stronger than they were in life? Only Berserker has that dubious honor via Mad Enhancement. Class skills aside, only one class makes an HS potentially exceed their stats.
Did I quoted the Nero magic resistance description? I am not quite sure if there is any proof needed to confirm what there might be a synergy between Heroic Spirit and Grail granted advantages.

Grail cuts off all Noble Phantasms what do not fit an assigned class for that, yes, but that is already question of "Was what cut off? Actually, did Grail managed to find a piece of legend what are incompatible with Servant Class?"

If answer is "No", Servant recieves whatever stats boost he should recieve for his Class - ME, Ride, Magic Resistance, Presence Concealment, one of those - in addition to whatever he already has and whatever his Master bond is going to grant to him.

Servants are not perfectly ressurected - but aside from that detail what makes them waste prana like mad simple to support their own existance, they indeed, could have more advantages than HS if they have right compability with Grail system.

I am not sure what is the problem.

Magatama (????)

A necklace with a golden medallion and a curved, comma-shaped bead of jade. It holds inside the power of a sun deity. True functions are unknown, but it seems to boost Karna's Luck by one rank.
*spittake*

It boosts Karna's Luck by one rank?!

Karna?

Who could possibly make such an impressive charm? Truly this is a land of potent magics, indeed... ;)

If Marisa just asks for them?
There are conditions under which Karna gave out his stuff. Though yes, it's possible/likely he'd do just that.

Except maybe the Megatama -- but that's because he might think that its not entirely his to give away in the first place. If it's a clue rather than a gift, then it's more like he's just hanging onto it for a purpose.

Not to mention, Karna might indirectly GAIN something from Marisa, of all things! Such as a Fangirl/thief who may 'like' his brutal honesty, somehow...

This strikes me as entirely hilarious and maybe d'awwwww worthy, it has my support.

Did not. I will see if I can find it somewhere. It is to take with a grain of salt, I believe?

I'm not too sure Marisa will like him, Karna would immediately know that she's a hard worker, which is something she hides from others.

He's likely to offend almost everyone he speaks too.
I thought Marisa takes pride in her strength gained with hard work and not simply talent? Boastful even?

Also if I am to write Suika I will need some reference, like a very good fic. To understand how she might react to certain situations: even more if she is drunk at the moment.

http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Perfect_Memento_in_Strict_Sense

Enjoy. Its a piece of in-universe information by Akyu, describing Gensokyo as seen from the human point of view.As for how reliable it is...
Of note is that the youkai requested to Akyuu to describe them as being stronger than they actually are, thus many things may be grossly exaggerated. The descriptions also contain Akyuu's own monologues and considerations. Thus, one must be aware that they are prone to misconceptions, lack of proper research, or outright lies (not necessarily from Akyu, but from her sources). However, despite how the contents are written by someone who is not omnipotent, it is still information from someone who sees it as her duty to properly record Gensokyo's history, thus there is likely at least some truth to most of it.
Yeah, do not trust it complitely.

Edit.

Ninja!

...

Aaaaand I think we lost him. Snaaaaaaaaake!..

Ah ah, no. I just had something to take care off. Thanks for the links guys.

Also I probably shouldn't say it but we are not so forward in the Touhou timeline as Ten Desires. Like I said, crazy plans. Awesome too.

"Uhm..." Karna looks around again. 'Exploring the land is all well and good, but I shouldn't be so hasty to depart: there may be a reason I was summoned here after all.'

Also his current vantage point isn't the best: with how tall the sunflowers are it's possible there are buildings nearby he couldn't at the moment see and, most importantly, people outside of his perception range. His is nothing to scoff about but he hasn't the finesse of a proper spellcaster.

'I've decided.' He nods. 'I need to be sure there's really nothing he-'

[ Event Interrupt! ]
"!"

Years of training and fighting experience allow him to react accordingly, moving his head just so in order for the glowing sphere of energy to miss his head.

Cheerfulness forgotten his face falls again into his customary cold and unforgiving expression and he slowly turns around to confront the attacker.

A slight twitch of his face is the only visual evidence of his surprise. He expected armed soldiers, spellcasters or monsters.

What he didn't expect is for his assailant to be a cluster of beings that look like little ten-year-old girls wearing colorful dresses with insect-like wings on their back.

"What manner of creatures are you? Some kind of Rakshasa?" They are probably native beings of Japan, but with their appearance alone he couldn't tell much. "And why did you attack me?"

In response they all chuckle malevolently before starting shooting spells again.

Karna simply sidesteps through the bullet-filled barrage, never allowing even one projectile to graze him. They are all weak and would shatter on his Magic Resistance, but he doesn't want to answer to the hostilities. After all the creatures could have a good reason for attacking him. Maybe they are the field's residents and view him as an intruder. So he will try to parley first.

That's it, until one wayward bullet misses him and instead darts toward a sunflower. The instant before it hits...

FIZZLE!

The bullet shatters, the magic weaved into its creation unraveled by the hand imposed between it and the frail flower.

The fairies stop their attack, confused by how their bullet was cancelled and how the strange man was here before them and then suddently was in another place.

Heedless of their confusion Karna raises his head and stares at them, eyes ablaze with a raging but cold fury. The fairies shiver at the sight.

"I don't care what happen to me, but striking at my comrades is an unforgivable sin."

As his aura expands, covering the entire field with killing intent so potent some of them drops dead from fear, the fairies realize for the first time they may have bitten more that they can chew.

"Prepare yourself." Karna finishes, reading himself.

[] Attack! Use:
-[] Your bow.
-[] Your spear.
-[] You should have a sword somewhere in your arsenal...
-[] Mantra!
-[] Astra! Too overkill.
-[] Just your fists will be enough.
[] Forgive them. Made sure they learned their lesson.
[] Write in.

Regardless of your previous decision, how will you move?
[] Stay on the ground.
[] Combination of Spirit and Real form to surprise them.
[] It's time to take your rightful place in the SKY.
[] Write in.

[x] Forgive them. Made sure they learned their lesson.

I feel overreaction. That said, am not even sure if Danmaku affects anything beyond duelists.

Those wings, probably.

Frankly, I want to see what Mantra and Astra do, but hey, they are probably first class combat Noble Phantasms. It would be... Too much for such ordinary case.

Prospalz said:

There is a reason. From F/E CCC:
While Karna is not good at asserting himself, when it comes to protecting the dignity of his sun god father, he shows a furious determination.

It seems that for the motherless Karna, that his father was the sun god was his only certainty, on top of receiving that power, he swore that he would never be able to do anything that would shame his father.
He considers the sunflowers devoted to his Father. So the fairies trying to harm them is viewed as an attack against the Sun, His father.

For the Danmaku: he doesn't know that.

[x] If they continue to attack, respond with your fists.

-[x]No reason to maim or kill, but make sure they learned the lesson.

Er, let's not go overboard. If we can scold them into apologizing, great.

I mean hell, we could probably bounce their attacks back on them just by breathing out.

Well. I think that means that he is taking this seriously. But it doesn't necessarily mean we will be vicious or use overwhelming force, right?

So, we impress upon them the seriousness of respecting the sun and those kin to it.

Of course: note how I put 'forgive them' as one of the option.

All I wanted to convey was how for Karna disrespecting the Sun and its kins is a very serious matter. He isn't going to kill just for it in this case.

Unless you vote for him to do so.
