Puella Magi Momo Magica

[x] "Weren't we talking about witches?"

Episode 2: 2
"You have a brother, Madoka-san? How old is he?"

"He's three."

"That's adorable," I kind of imagine him looking like Madoka-san with pink hair and eyes. I'm probably wrong, but the image is still nice. "So you get along?"

"We do!" she nods. "He's not a handful or anything. He's cute, but a messy eater."

"I used to be like that too. From what Onee-chan used to tell me, she'd be the one cleaning my face. The sad part is we're only a year apart."

The two of us get to talking about our siblings when Sayaka-san puts her own two cents in.

"Now I'm left out," Sayaka-san sighs. "Hey, Mami-san, what about you?"

"I was an only child," Mami-onee-chan huffs. "But Momo-chan is like a little sister to me."

"So all alone again, huh?" Madoka-san's friend makes a gloomy face.

We all share a nice laugh. "Oh, we were talking about witches, right?" I kind of recall the topic near the end of the conversation.

"Yeah, we were. Sorry about the segue," Sayaka-san leans backward. She puts her arms out to support herself so she doesn't fall. "So we got curses, people dying... so that means you're like a hero of justice, Mami-san?"

"I wouldn't go that far. I just do what I think is right."

"Isn't that what a hero is?"

"Depends on your definition, I guess. I don't see myself as anything that great."

"But you are great," I chime in my own praise toward her. "You're always doing your best for me, Onee-chan, and other people."

"Miki-san, Momo-chan," she looks at us with a faint smile.

"I think you're great, Mami-san," lastly Madoka-san offers her support.

Mami-onee-chan's face turns a bit red. She looks around to escape the glares. "This is a bit embarassing."

We all share the time together until it's time for a witch hunt. "Momo-chan, lock the door when we leave."

"I know!"

"Wait, Momo-chan isn't coming? I thought she had the potential to be a magical girl? She can see Kyubey and all."

"I was told not to," I walk toward the door to follow them out half-way. "Sorry."

"What? Oh, well, alright," Sayaka-san pouts. "Well, that's your own decision. Come on, Madoka!"

Madoka-san walks after her while nodding her head, "Have a good night, Momo-chan."

"Yeah," the four of them leave off on a witch hunt.

Now I'm left here in the evening with really nothing much to do.

[_] Go for a walk in town. I'll find something to do.
[_] Text Midori-san. Maybe she's not busy?
[_] Go to the old church. I kind of want to see it after all this time.
[_] Just wait around and read.
[_] Go after them. Maybe they'll let me go...? I've never actually been on a witch hunt.

From a more meta stand point... what should be our goal here?

1: Making sure Mami doesn't die
2: Keeping Sayaka from contracting?

Those are two possibilities I can see.

I think the best route to accomplishing both of those that is also in character is to convince Kyouko to stick around and help Mami on her hunts. That also gets Kyouko into contact with Sayaka before Sayaka contracts, and gives them a point of view other than "hero of justice" so maybe make Sayaka think twice.

Trying to think of a reason, but the only thing I can think of is telling Kyouko that other magical girls are moving into Mami's territory.

Personally, I'd kind of like to contract after Mami's death to save her by going back in time. The time-shenanigans with two loopers would be interesting.

One thing to note is that part of the reason for Mami's death in canon was her relief at being with Madoka/Sayaka after being alone for so long made her show off and be a bit careless. With us as a constant presence, that may not be the case. Our presence alone might change the results of that particular fight.

[X] Go look for Onee-chan, you know a few places she likes to go sometimes:

-[X] The arcade

That would be veeery interesting, especially if the time travel manifests differently and operates on different guidelines than Homura's. That said, Mami dying is something I'd like to avoid if possible.

This is probably the hunt for Gertrud. We may be in a position to prevent Nagisa from contracting (and thus prevent her and Mami's unfortunate demise). We'll have to act quickly, though.

Episode 2: 3
Onee-chan didn't come around today. I thought she would come back if I waited, but there was no sign of her. I take a seat on a cushion near the table. I think about the fight that happened between us.

She feels responsible for everything that happened to our family. Mami-onee-chan told me it was because she made on another person that she feels that way.

My sister is conflicted because using a wish to help another person backfired. It destroyed our family. What kind of weight is that? I want to say I understand, but I can't. It seems like something only Onee-chan can push through. The only thing I can do is be there for her. "Onee-chan," I mutter to myself while standing up.

I've made a decision. I'm going to go look for her myself. If my job is to be there for her, I'll be there for her. I pull up my phone to check the time then gaze up at the clock. I have plenty of time til it gets dark so I'm going to go searching. I send a text to Mami-onee-chan to tell her what I'm doing. Afterward I head out of the apartment.

Mitakihara Town, Mall - Arcade

There are only two places that I can think of that Onee-chan would visit. I walk into the arcade. I walk toward the back of the game corner. I look for Onee-chan through the small crowds of people gathered in the back. She's a loner so she wouldn't be hanging out with anyone.

No luck. I don't think she's here.

I sigh. I sit down on a bench that faces the DDR section of the room.

Ah, I can't do that. I have to find Onee-chan as fast as I can. I start jogging out of the arcade. "Sorry, excuse me!" I say sorry to any I run into. I make it out and start on my way to the church.

On Route to Kasamino

Kasamino City is on the border of Mitakihara Town. It shouldn't take too long to get there by just walking at a steady pace. I find myself looking out over the river to the blackened windmills on the horizon. Takes me back to that day in winter that Onee-chan and I came to Mitakihara.

I'm cold.

Suck it up, Momo. We're almost there. Just a bit more.

"No, don't," I shake my head while slapping my-

OUCH!

"Aaaaa," I cringe. Too much. That was way too much. Didn't think I had that much power in my arms. I pull out a mirror from my pocket.

Yes, that is going to leave red marks. Oh well. It kept me from sulking. I have to keep in control because if not, I could be the target for a witch. That's the last thing I want to happen. I head on across the bridge with a light jog.

Outskirts of Kasamino City, Sakura Church

I left the stone walkway to walk back into the forest where the church is. I look left and right through the trees that Onee-chan and I used to play in when we were smaller. It's like the scent of burning coal would come through the trees to pull me in to one of our old cook out spots.

The sun is setting behind the church so the stain glass windows reflect their colors onto the ground. "It's still pretty," I smile while walking up the pathway.

"Yeah, everything's fine."

That voice. Isn't that Midori-san? I walk a little closer while staying hidden behind a tree.

"I'm doing fine. You don't have to check up on me every hour on the hour," she's talking to someone on the phone. "I told you already. I went to the hospital to check up on Akane."

I don't really want to eavesdrop.

"She's doing well... yeah, okay, see you later."

She hung up. I think that's my cue to leave. Onee-chan isn't here so there's no point in-

"Hey, you there!"

I freeze.

"Come on out."

[_] Run away through the trees. She won't pursue.
[_] Just come on out, no point in hiding.

Hey, wait, as a discovered "potential", hasn't Kyubey "hooked her up" to the "Incubator Telepathic Network"?
Why can't we just telepathicly ask Kyouko what is going on?

Sure, there is a high chance she won't answer, but it still seems like something we should of tried first.

Depends on how Shinobu says the telepathy thing works. Might be you need Kyuubey to process your call or something. Or maybe as someone who hasn't shown any interest in contracting, he took us off the network and just contacts us directly to communicate. As someone who has refused to contract but can still easily contact him should that change, he might not bother keeping us connected.

We should ask Mami once she gets back if there's anything else megucas can do. That way we can get access to telepathy. We don't have much reason to ask Kyuubey at the moment, though.

Considering the only way Kyuubey speaks is through telepathy, I'm sure we're aware of it. I just don't think we can use it.

I recall in Episode 3 where Madoka and Sayaka had to contact Mami through phone in regards to Charlotte's Grief Seed. Kyubey's telepathy didn't actually travel that far out to communicate.

Plus Momo has a phone. She can call Mami anytime!
