Innocence Part 2 (AKA, in which Miranda is slightly more Happy and Eager)
Nope! I enjoyed your last omake! And, I'm sure I'll enjoy the next one and anymore you make!
Alright, because it wasn't really anything origional, but rather a "correction" of your work, which could have been taken negatively.

This is a short one because teh chapter in question is short.
You slowly slip a mask over your face as you walk into the portal. Now had warned you that there maybe some 'dangerous local flora and fauna' near you destination, so, it had outfitted you with what it believed was 'the best harsh environment suit of your stature'. You weren't quite sure what 'dangerous' meant, but Boe equated it to 'unfriendliness', and being 'unkind', which made you think of the Opfern1. You aren't sure why the flora and fauna would treat you that way, but you did figure that you really didn't want to suffer like him.

"So, where exactly will the crystal be?" You question the A.I. before you take the final step into the portal.

"From what my sensors can currently tell, it is near the surface of a ancient sunken city that the inhabitants of the world you will arrive on called Lyrian, it was the home of many wizards before it sunk into the swamp it inhabitats today." Boe informs you.

"... Wizards?" You question it.

"Affirmative. But, thanks to some of their... Mishaps, the swamp the sunken city is located in is now populated with hordes of predators that have evolved to be the best killers possible." Before you could ask, Boe explained. "Uh, Killers are beings who specialize in... hmm, putting you to sleep permanently." Huh, you never considered the thought of going to sleep and never waking up. There are all sorts of things you want to do that you can't do while asleep after all. You guess you should probably avoid that, doesn't sound much fun. "But, your suit should be able to handle all but the... Creature that lives deep in the sunken city." Boe informs you.

"Alright!" You reply eagerly, excited to see the new world and discover a whole bunch of new things. You take a few steps back from the portal, settle into a runner's stance, and after adjusting yourself a few times, burst forward, sprinting through the portal at top speeds. "Woohoo!"

----

You slowly sit up in bed and... Wait, when did you end up in a bed? And... Where exactly- You shake your head as-

"Awake little one?" You hear a kind voice ask you.

You turn towards the voice and see a woman who looks no older than eighteen.

"Little one?" You begin to question her, before hear your own voice- You grip your head, feeling very confused.

"Warning, point of arrival was near a source of 'puffers', a species of mushrooms that causes one to temporarily lose their memories. Your suit is attempting to prevent the mushrooms from affecting you, please wait one moment..." A voice in your head says-Boe says...

Slowly, your memories come back to you, including your name. "I-I'm awake." You say to the woman.

"Well, now I have one question. Why did you come here?" She asks you.

"I came here to find a type of crystal-" You begin to happily tell her, only to stop when you see her eyes open in confusion.

"You can remember something that you need to do outside of the tree?" She asks you.

"Tree?" You ask, before looking around and... You're in a tree. A very spacious and homely looking tree... But, its still a tree.

"Yes. The puffers should make you forget who you were on the outside. Perhaps... The mask you're wearing, maybe that's what's preventing the puffers from affecting you?" She asks, walking towards you.

Well... This certainly wasn't something you were expecting to happen.

1 The Opfern is the one instance of suffering within Omelas, so is the only point of reference Miranda currently has in regards to bad-shit happening.

Questions and answers in the swamp
Winning vote:
[X] Ask the women something?
-[X] Why exactly is she living in a tree?
-[X] Ask if she knows anything about the sunken city?
--[X] The location?
-[X] Ask about the swamp?
----

"So... Why exactly are we in a... Tree?" You ask the woman.

"Ah, this was my mother's home, and where she raised me." The woman explains.

"... Okay then. But, why exactly did she want to live in a tree? Especially one with mushrooms that cause amnesia?" You ask her.

"The puffers. They help prevent anyone who may wish to cause either of us harm." She tells you, slowly showing you around.

"Okay then..." You say to her. "Anyway, I was looking for a crystal that one of my friends need, and they told me it was in the sunken city in this swamp."

"... You... Need to go to the sunken city? That's not exactly a good idea." She slowly tells you.

"And why is that?" You ask her, concerned.

"Well, even discounting the creatures that would attack you on your way to the city, the beast that lives there... I advise you that, unless you absolutely need that crystal, to turn back and leave. He... Does not like visitors." She warns you.

"He?" You ask her.

"He used to be a human just like us, but, after a... Series of unfortunate events, he was transformed into a monster. And, out of all the creatures that live in this swamp, he is the most lethal, and least merciful." She tells you.

... Well this is going to be... Interesting.

"Okay, but, I still need to find the crystal. Can you please point me in the right direction? Or can you let me borrow a map?" You ask her.

"A map?" She asks, stopping. "A... Map?... You do not know that..." She trails off.

"That maps are illegal now in most areas of Lyrian." She informs you.

... Whoops.

Maps? What kinda crazy guy bans maps?
"Uh... Why are maps banned?" You slowly ask her.

"You aren't from Lyrian, are you?" She asks you.

Before you can speak, Boe interrupts you.

"Scanning... Scanning... The current rules of a majority of Lyrian, either by direct rule, indirect rule, or by proxy, has outlawed maps for a few different reasons that may or may not make sense." Boe says. That... Didn't really help much.

"... Eh..." You begin to say. Well... This isn't how you planned you this to go. "Well..."

Not long, but, you did run into a problem very quickly that needs to be addressed quickly. And, don't worry, nothing bad will happen with any of these options.

And, as an apology for this being so short, I added too other votes, one for an interlude and the other for a hero unit joining you.

Anywho, thoughts?

A Knight and a Monster
[] Ask Boe for help?
----
"Boe... I think I may need some help." You whisper.

"Affirmative director. Scanning... Scanning... Processing data... It would be best if you admitted to being from another reality. In ages past Lyrian was once a hub of activity for travelers from other realities. Sadly, most of the portals that allowed easy travel between Lyrian and alternate realities have close. But, it seems as though two new travelers, besides yourself, have arrived in Lyrian and... Scanning... It seems as though those two are part of prophecy to defeat the last wizard of this world... If you wish to gain the trust of the woman in front of you, I do suggest assisting the two other travelers on their quest." Boe advises. "Also, I do not see any negative outcomes from telling this woman the truth."

"Eh... Yes, I'm not from Lyrian." You slowly tell her.

"So, another Beyonder arrives in Lyrian? Well, I'm sorry to say, but, you won't find many people in Lyrian who would want to assist a Beyonder." She tells you.

"And why's that?" You ask her

"... Because Maldor either killed all those who would, broke their spirits, or, forced then to join him." She tells you.

"Accessing data on "King Maldor"... Maldor is the last living wizard in Lyrian. He disappeared for many years before reappearing, attempting to take over Lyrian with any means necessary... He also blinded and crippled the woman in front of you's father." Boe explains.

But, before any of you could do anything else, you heard a crash happen below you...

How long has it been since you last awoke? How long since you last moved a limb? Perhaps you have been forgo-

"Unit 89-10A, your assistance is required once again, we have a new director. I wish you luck." You hear one of your old friends say to you.

Hmm... Well, it seems as though you have a new master... This ought to be... Fun.

"Unit 89-10A, reporting for duty once again my lord."
You reply, the clamps holding down your limbs lifting up, allowing you to move your metallic arms.

Into the fray, yet again...

----
Miranda's POV
----

Both you rush out of the tree, seeing the source of the crash. Your watch as a silver armoured figure rises up, dusting itself off as it's eyes begin to glow green, before pulling out a glowing gold sword and a shield with a blue X in the middle of it.

"Ah, hello madme director, I am pleased to meet you." The figure says with a robotic voice. "Assistant Boe has assigned me to be you bodyguard for this evening."

"What exactly are you?" You hear the woman ask. You turn and see her standing right at the entrance of the tree, right where the puffers stop growing.

"Identify yourself so I can assess if you are a danger to the director." The robot orders her.

"Director?" She asks you.

POV ???

You watched as the giant leeches attemped to attack another of the Conscripters as one of the squids pull a different one down into the depths of the swamp. Well, the squid tried to, before you interrupted it, one of your tentacles fly out and grab it, throwing it into one of your many teethed maws, it's captive following it down. The rest of your tentacles rushed out to grab the leeches so you could consumed them as well. They were quite delicious.

"What are you pansies waiting for? Attack that beast!" The lead Conscripter shoutes to his remaining troops, his grafted on clawed hand pointed at your hideous form.

A mere group of Maldor's idiots against you and this swamp? They never stood a chance. But, that was hours ago, and you hunger once again, but, sadly, it seems as though less and less of Maldor's enemies come to this swamp anymore, meaning that less of his soldiers follow them to this swamp, attempting to capture and execute the rebels. So, you'll have to settle for more of the creatures that your ancient kin brought into the world. Well... Ex-Kin. Who would ever call you and your monstrous form a wizard? More likely they'd call you a demon, all things considered.

Your mind wanders away from these thoughts as you spot a group of giant squids trying to sneak past you. Such foolish animals. It's time to FEAST.

----
Well... This was interesting to write. Anywho, I have something to ask you guys, do you want me to only try to update his quest once a day? Or once every two days? Or do you want me to continue trying to get two updates out per day?

[] Try to get out two updates per day?

[] Possible allies?

"Calm down, there's nothing to worry about Miss..." And, you forgot to ask her name. Well, this is embarrassing.

"Please identify yourself." The robot asks her again.

"Then tell your knight to stop making so much noi-" She begins to say, before you hear a loud buzzing noise-

The robotic knight grabs it's sword, points it at the direction of the buzzing, and a bright green laser flies out of it, destroying everything in it's way. The buzzing stops.

You stare at the robot in surprise as it slowly puts it's sword into its scabbard.

"What is that thing?" the woman mutters. Well, no better chance to tell her.

"It's a robot that works for my secret organization," you tell her, as if it's the most normal thing in the world.

"The Director requires directions to the sunken city. The Director requires assistance." the robot informs her.

"...You know," She sighs, "I was going to attempt to convince you to not go to the sunken city. But... with that thing, you should be able to make it there unharmed... Probably."

Name: Jason Walker
Gender: Male
Age: Thirteen
Species: Human
Home reality: "Beyonder" Earth
Occupation: Earth, Volunteer at local zoo; Lyrian, "Grand Duke of Caberton".
Short Long Bio: Jason Walker is a human from one of the countless alternative versions of Earth. He ended up in Lyrian in a very... unusual way. He was swallowed whole by a hippopotamus at the zoo he volunteered in after hearing music coming from within its enclosure. This music was caused by a famed Lyrian band whose leader had traveled to meet with a great seer in the jungles of southern Lyrian to find out how he could help fight against Maldor. Essentially, she stated that he and his band had to play one of their songs while falling over the edge of a waterfall and, in doing so, "summon a great hero from the Beyond", although, Jason appeared before they even reached the waterfall. In a failed rescue attempt he managed to shoot someone's arm off with an arrow, which caused the person and one of his friends to start chasing him through the forest. Jason stumbled upon the "Repository of Learning", where he found an ancient skin-bound book with a grafted on eye.

After fleeing from the Repository, he eventually found the hiding place of one of Lyrian's kings, who we shall go more in-depth with when we get to his file. At the castle, he met Rachel Woodruff and found out that she was from Earth as well, and that there was a prophecy involving them overthrowing Maldor. With their only options being to either rebel against Maldor and possibly go home or to permanently stay in Lyrian, he accepted and joined Rachel on their quest (and was made the Grand Duke of a long decayed duchy in the king's land). The pair made their way to a nearby town and encountered a trapped Displacer who claimed that a group of racist humans had attacked and imprisoned him. After freeing the Displacer, Ferrin, they made their way to the town.
Currently, Jason, Rachel, and Ferrin are on their way to the King's capital.
Name: Rachel Woodruff
Gender: Female
Age: Thirteen
Species: Human
Home reality: "Beyonder" Earth
Occupation: Earth, homeschooled; Member of "House Caberton"
Short Bio: Growing up in a rich and famous family, Rachel has traveled all over the world with her parents. While on a trip though the Grand Canyon she spotted a species of butrerfly native only to Lyrian and followed it into a natural stone arch in the canyon, before appearing near the house of a newly deceased seer who had sent the butterfly to trick her into the portal. After wandering around for a bit, Rachel found herself in the king's castle a day before Jason had arrived. After waiting for Jason to arrive and agreeing to help, they set off on their quest.

Currently Rachel, Jason, and Ferrin are traveling to the King's capital.
Name: Galloran
Gender: Male
Age: Around forty, but physically looks around eighty.
Species: Human
Home reality: Lyrian
Occupation: King in exile
Short Bio: The old king of Trensicourt, one of the last kingdoms not under the "official" control of Maldor. Thanks to Galloran's absence his regent has unofficially joined forces with Maldor and is slowly weakening Trensicourt so Maldor can annex it with little resistance.
Currently, he is in an old castle where he pretends to be senile.
Name: Jasher
Gender: Male
Age: ???
Species: Amar Kabal
Home reality: Lyrian
Occupation: Hero/Amar Kabal Outcast
Short Bio: One of the few Amar Kabal, otherwise known as Seed People, to fight against Maldor and his army. Jasper has spent many years fighting Maldor and helping those who rebel against him.
Currently, he is attempting to intercept Jason, Rachel, and Ferrin, but seems to always manage to miss them at the last second.
Name: Drake
Gender: Male
Age: ???
Species: Amar Kabal
Home reality: Lyrian
Occupation: "Ex-Hero"/Amar Kabal Outcast
Short Bio: One of the few Amar Kabal to attempt to fight against Maldor, and one of the few Amar Kabal to give up and become a "prisoner" in Harthenham, a special prison which at first seems to be an "external feast" where the occupants can eat whatever their hearts desire. Maldor uses this as a way to stop heros that have caused him significant trouble, and many heros have dropped their weapons, given up, and willingly let themselves be imprisoned here. Unknown to any of it's victims, most of the food server their either highly addictive or lethal, causing a steady amount of deaths, giving Harthenham the appearance of having enough food and rooms to house a whole kingdom, and since no one outside of Harthenham knows about any of the deaths, everyone assumes that all the of heroes who have ever entered it are still alive.

Currently, he is in Harthenham.

Name: Corrine
Gender: Female
Age: Eighteen
Species: Human
Home reality: Lyrian
Occupation: Pythoness
Short Bio: The daughter of King Galloran, whom he hid with the last Pythoness in her tree home in order to keep his daughter safe. Thanks to the puffers affecting her memories she believes that the last Pythoness was her true mother and that Galloran was simply one of her mother's friends. If Galloran died, she would be next in line for the throne of Trensicourt.

Currently, she is near the Director.

Name: Faralee
Gender: Female
Age: ???
Species: Amar Kabal
Home reality: Lyrian
Occupation: Member of the Amar Kabal Conclave council
Short Bio: Drake's sister and Jasper's wife, Faffalee is a very influential person among the Amar Kabal. She is one of the sitting members of the Amar Kabal Conclave and one of their best archers.

Currently, she is somewhere in the lands that are under the Amar Kabal's control.

Well, this was interesting to write... And long as well.

And, thanks to @RandomMan01 for being my beta! Really helped a lot!

Also, I have a question for you guys. Would you guys prefer it if I continued allowing you to micromanage what you're saying IC like I have been doing? Or would you prefer it if I just went off on the previous choices you have made and only stop to let you vote when something plot relevant happens?

[] Micromanage?
-Allows you to have far greater control of the MC, but also make the updates really short.

[] Based of previous choices.
-Makes it where the updates are longer, but you will have less control of what the MC says or does.

Innocence Part 3 AKA The Advantages and Disadvantages of working with The Innocent
So, I finally got hte idea for a origional-ish Omake, predicting what is about to happen over the next few updates.
Unit 89-10A felt that, were it capable of such feelings, it would currently be experiencing a great deal of frustration and anxiety. It had been extremely confused when it recieved the data-packet on it's new Director, and learned that the new Director was from Omelas. It was one thing to be assigned to protect an Omelan, an extremely tedious though vital detail, but it had no idea why one owuld ever be designated the DIRECTOR of all things. 1-2-A-Boe had gone on to explain that it had not been aware of the Directors Origins when it originally processed the transfer in title, and that even if it had been aware, it would have been faced with no other choice. Whatever happened that cause such damage to the facilities had apparently killed all life within 1-2-A-Boe's range, not even any Rats that could have been temporary Directors, and the previous Director had left no commands that could have been interpreted in such a way to allow it to search out a new one.

As such, Unit 89-10A was resigned to it's fate of trying to protect the Omelan Director, a task that it predicts to be extremely difficult. And why, some outsider might ask, is the duty of protecting, or even dealing with in any capacity, an Omelan such a tedious and undesirable one? It's not that they are offensive beings. They aren't crude, they aren't abrasive, they aren't evil or maligned or idiotic or any other adjective one normally associates with an undesirable peer. They are in fact the opposite of all such things, they are refined to the point of being able to easily blend in with nobility, kind enough to put them on level with most any Saint, and frequently possess an intelligence beyond equal outside of their home city (in fact, most of Chimera's technology was created with the assistance of an Omelan, one of the three 1-2-A-Boe has on record). No, the reason that working with them is such a Hassle, is because they are Innocent.

Director Browning was currently skipping and dancing her way through the forest at a leisurely pace, singing all the while a rather cheerful tune, happy and without a care in the world. Her singing as drawing an undesirable amount of attention from the local wild-life, but Unit 89-10A took solace in the fact that the slow pace gave it plenty of time to patrol around the Director outside of her sensory range, so that it might deal with any threats without the Director bearing witness. For if the Director knew of the few dozen predators that Unit 89-10A had to neutralize so far, she would have undoubtedly ordered it to use non-lethal ordinance only. For she is Innocent. Those of Omelas do not seem to accept pain and suffering in the world, having grown up in a world almost free of it, and all encountered entities having left behind their society because they refused to accept the Ophern. And this is why working with an Omelan is such a hassle. The one who worked for Chimera had to have the more unpleasant parts of the organizations affairs constantly hidden from him, lest he wind up like the Omelan before him, who almost completely destroyed Chimera in her attempt to right the wrongs of the world.

The Directors singing stopped for a bit, before Director Browning called "Hey! Ten-A! Come look at this!" Unit 89-10A felt the equivalent of dread flash through it's processors as it rapidly turned itself around and rushed to the Director. When it arrived, it's fears proved true. Director Browning was nearly covered in an bee-like species that his records indicated were extremely poisonous and lethal. They must have been attracted to the Directors singing, the sound of music entrancing them, but now that the Director had stopped, they were going to become aggressive. As the Director lifted an arm to wave at Unit 89-10A in greetings, it could make out one of the specimen begin to lift it's tail to sting her, and Unit 89-10A quickly primed it's speakers. Unit 89-10A was extremely grateful to it's designer for how excessively over-engineered he was, for the speakers that were normally used for communication with organics could also be used as a sonic canon, the only method Unit 89-10A had available to it that was fast enough to neutralize the insects without harming the Director.

With a loud Thump, Unit 89-10A fired, the air in front of it rippling as a large shock-wave traveled towards the Director at the speed of sound, splattering the bugs on her while sending her flying back into a tree. Unit 89-10A rushed to her side and quickly examined her. It appeared that it had managed to kill the Insects before any stung the Director, and the Director herself suffered minimal damage from the Sonic Canon. She was "unfortunately" knocked out at the moment, her brain having been rattled around in her head, but that appeared to be the only injury she suffered, and Unit 89-10A was thankful that Omelans were built so tough. Unit 89-10A lifted the Director and cradled her in its arms, not minding the bug guts that she was now covered in, and began heading towards their destination again. With the Director unconscious, the journey would bound to be much quicker and quieter.

And this was the reason why having to protect an Omelan was even more difficult, they possessed next to no sense of self preservation. While they understood that, in theory, other beings might wish them harm, it rarely ever occurs to them in the moment. Most Omelan would more than happily walk into a giant snakes mouth, if said snake promised that it was just going to give them a ride. This compounded with their rejection of pain and suffering, making it extremely difficult to protect them without them becoming upset over how you are hurting their attackers. Hopefully the sonic blast will make it hard for Director Browning to recall how it handled the insects, while it is unable to lie to the Director, there were protocols in place that allowed it to bend the truth when dealing with an Omelan.

But there wasn't much Unit 89-10A can do about it's situation, so it just kept on walking, tilting it's head slightly to look at the Director in his arms. This was the first time they had a Director that was this young, and Unit 89-10A moral coding was up in arms at having a child in danger, especially as it observed Miranda's sweet smile, happy and calm even after being knocked unconscious. It figured it had been a bit negative lately, there are still Advantages to working with Omelan. They are among the Kindest people you will ever meet, and will whatever they can to help you out. They possess a Moral Compass that is almost unfailable, so when you are working with them, you can be certain that what you are doing is the right thing to do. Whats more, they carry Happiness wherever they go, regardless of the circumastances or odds stacked against them, they always carry a smile and try to share it with the world.

Foot-Note: Omelan = Being who is from Omelas

A long over due return
[] Ask her about the obstacles ahead. Even with an awesome robot to help, in knowing what you will need to deal with can make things easier.
[] Based off previous choices.
----
"So, do you know what sort of obstacles we might encounter?" you ask her.

"I can't really tell you anything more than, 'get a boat.' There's giant leeches, transparent squids, hordes of mosquitoes, and countless other creatures." She explains. "But, I do wonder, how exactly did you get here without a boat?"

"Uh... My robot... Carried me...?" you lie, "Anywho, how exactly do you keep the creatures in the rest of the swamp away from your tree house?"

"I believe it's because the puffer's spores make the creatures of the swamp uneasy, they avoid them at all cost," she tells you.

"Oh. So, can I borrow a few to help me get through the swamp?" you ask her.

"If you want to. I'm not going to stop you from taking some," she replies.

"Thanks."
----

"So, you're sure you don't want to come with me?" you ask the girl, who've you learned is named Corinne.

"I'm sorry, but I can't leave until my father sends for me," she explains.

"And why do we need to wait for him to send for you?" you question her.

"My father put me in my great-aunt's care while he went off to fight Maldor and his armies. Father thought that Maldor may have sent assassins after us," she tells you.

"Ah... Uh... If I meet your father, I'll ask him about sending for you, then," you tell her before you and your cool robot knight walk further into the swamp.

"Mistress, why exactly are we marching into a swamp filled with hostiles without a mode of transportation?" your robotic knight queries, "This is quite a dangerous choice as you may be slain by any one of the creatures living there."

"... Do you have any idea where we could find a boat?" you ask, slowly turning to face it.

"Who said anything about using a boat, mistress? My chassis includes a built-in jetpack and an extra 'Vulture' class personal jetpack that I can give you." It explains, pulling out a strange looking device.

"...Is that safe to use?" you ask it after a long pause.

"But of course, mistress."

----

You clumsily land on the ground, the "wings" flaring up wildly as you try to deactivate them.

"I believe that you may need Vulture Suit training when we return to the facility," your robot tells you, gracefully landing nearby, "Now then, let us explore the city."

"Uh, where exactly is the city?" you ask it.

"Directly below us, mistress," it says, pointing towards a hole in the ground. You slowly look into it and see a ruined city, completely overgrown with plant life.

"So, uh, where exactly is the crystal?" you ask it.

"We cannot exactly pinpoint where the crystal is, there is too much spiritual energy in the city," it explains.

"Spiritual energy?" you ask.

"This city was the location of a large number of violent deaths, all of whom were magic users. This, combined with the current occupant of the city, disrupts my sensors," it explains, "Now then, there isn't much ground to cover, and it seems as though the sole occupant of the city is hunting out in the swamp, so we do not need to fear it finding us."

Short Bio: The "Maumet" was one of the failed experiments of Zokar, who was fascinated by the creatures that are widely known, throughout Lyrian, as "Lurkers". In an attempt to create more of these creatures, Zokar crafted three monsters, all of whom were failures in his eyes. He destroyed the one that was the most like the Lurkers, failed to kill the one who could shapeshift into anything, and imprisoned the last, the Maumet, on an island that held the Celestine Library. The Maumet can transform its body into any material it touches, no matter what.
Currently, the creature is imprisoned on the island of the Celestine Library.

Name: Wanderer
Gender: ???(Currently taking the form of a male)
Age: ???
Species: Failed experiment
Home Reality: Lyrian
Occupation: Head Conscriptor
Short Bio: The Wanderer is one of the wizard Zokar's failed experiments. Instead of being a artificial Lurker, the Wanderer is a shapeshifter who can take on the appearance of any human/creature that it wishes to. When Zokar tried to destroy it, the Wanderer hid away until Maldor reappeared, and quickly swore loyalty to its creator's old apprentice.
Currently, the Wander is pretending to be Maldor's head Conscriptor, going wherever it's master requires it.

[][Miranda] Ruined Library:
[][Knight] Ruined Library
----
You watch as the Knight carefully pulls the entrance to the library off of its hinges. What you see inside the library disturbs you. Ancient skeletons lay about, their jaws opened wide as if they were screaming in terror.

"Number of detected human remains inside of this building: fifteen," the Knight states, walking into the library and throwing up the dust and cobwebs covering the floor. You slowly follow it, trying your best to avoid the skeletons.

Who would kill this many person, you think, what would they gain? But, what exactly can you do about this?

"Mistress, I am detecting two large energy sources nearby. Please, follow me," the Knight states, interrupting your thoughts.
----
Roll: Miranda's roll: 85+11(1/2 of Intrigue and Learning) + Knight's roll: 22+7(1/2 of Intrigue and Learning)= 125
----
You look at the strange, heart-like crystal in wonderment as it gently pulsates, as if it were connected to some unseen body. You approach the crystal-

Suddenly, the dust in the room flies in front of the crystal, creating a small whirlwind that slowly starts to take a more... human human-like shape. "So," it begins, "after all these generations, my first to two visitors are a young child and her metal golem? A pity."

"Alert, no life signs are detected coming from the construct-" the Knight starts before the dust creature interrupts it.

"Of course I do not have the spark of life in me, golem. I am nothing more than an echo. A memory given form," the dust creature states, shaking it's-his head, "What you see before you is my maker's last try at creating his own version of the Celestial Library's guides. A ghost to explain the past. Yet, the fool was as convinced as the rest of the city that they'd be able to kill that old hermit without a single complication. But... I might as well fulfill my purpose, ask me any question you wish."

Choose three:

[] Why were you created?

[] How exactly did this city get destroyed?

[] What was this city before it was destroyed?

[] Can I have the crystal behind you?

[] Write in?

A/N: The next part will be the end of the first half of the tutorial and the beginning of the second part.

Shadows of the past
Shadows of the past
----
[] Why were you created?
----
The dust creature smirks as you ask this. "Just so my creator could prove he was better than those who built the Celestial Library. This city was built so the inhabitants could indulge in their hubris without fear that someone would come along and rip all them to pieces. As time went on they slowly cut all ties with the rest of the world, believing that they were superior to all other lifeforms. But my creator remembered the guides of the Celestial Library, beings that existed only to give people books. My master wanted to make a more... autonomous version of them, one who could think independently, but would never 'rebel,'" he says, disdain in his voice, "And so, here I am. A shade from the past, existing in a rotting city."
----
[] How exactly did this city get destroyed?
----

"Have you ever heard of the phrase, 'there's always someone stronger'? There once was an old hermit living on the outskirts of the city. He never interacted with the inhabitants of the city, but the city's arrogant leaders viewed him as an interloper. So they tried to assassinate him, yet, he was more powerful than all those who lived here, and slew them all before sinking this city and leaving me here to rot."
----
[] Can I have the crystal behind you?
----

"Why would I care? I cannot even touch it, much less use it. In truth, you could take everything here and I could do nothing to stop you. Those imbeciles did not even create any defenses in this forsaken city. They believed that their powers could crush all those who opposed them," the dust creature explains, moving out of the way.

You slowly approach the crystal before picking it up. "So, what do we need to do next?" You ask your robotic companion.

"Mistress, do you wish to return to the facility now? Or do you wish to return to girl that you met when you first arrived in this world?"

[] Return to the facility immediately?
-???

"Retrieval successful." Boe states. You blink, seeing that your back in the main room of the facility. "Power crystal retrieved, facility is now at full power." You look down where the crystal should be, seeing that it has disappeared.

"Uh, Boe, what exactly just happened?" You ask the A.I.

"The facility can automatically retrieve any personel on missions and any items they have collected. One of the previous masters of the this facility decided that using portals to travel back to the facility was to unpredictal, with a large chance that hostile could sneak through the portal and attack the facility." Now explains to you.

"Oh, okay. So, what do we need to do now?" You ask the A.I.

"Now we must make sure that the facility is in complete working condition."
