Prince of Alken (CK2/ Dark Souls II)

Martial: 20
Diplomacy: 5
Stewardship: 10
Intrigue: 15
Soul Knowledge: 12
Lore: 8

If were brining alone the advisor specifically stated to specialise in Soul Knowledge and Stewardship I think it would be best to concentrate on other areas. We don't need to (and in fact are really quite unlikely to) discover the cure OUSELVES. But we can be the ones who are RESPONSIBLE for it, however to do that I want to be able to keep our kingdom as safe as possible (inside and out), while also being able to gain more resources and be able to potentially face the wilds and realms around us (on a quest to get something specific or perhaps to take over another country if we need to). Plus with the High Stewardship Advisor as well, I think 10 would be a respectable number even if I would like it higher, mainly for defensive structures and any infrastructure or specialised building we may need.

You know, it might be a good idea to do a diplomacy heavy build.

I mean, after all, it might help us convince everyone to let us hook up with our love.

Like so?

I dunno, never actually participated in one of the dynasty games. They're pretty nice to read tho.

True....although i'm not very good at stat distributions so if you have an alternative lets hear it.
Well, neither I am, for that matter!:V

But sure, let's try something.

[X] Pyrrha Alken (Technically the princess but Dad insists, and I kind of rolled with it, for the most part.)
[X]Introduce yourself. Apologise for rough treatment.

[X]Martial 20 I can kill you with LIGHT OF MY SOUL.
[X]Diplomacy: 15 I am a very model of a dashing Prince. If you ask my father, at least. "sighs audibly."
[X] Soul Knowledge 25 Lasers are not difficult!
[X]Intrigue: 10 I don't write poetry. Really.
[X] Lore: 10 Wha- Don't read that!
[X]Stewardship 5 ...Bleh. Eygil, I choose you!

[X]Eygil the Pyromancer (Strong in Stewardship, Soul Knowledge. Weak in Diplomacy, Martial)

Pretty cool guy. He was my teacher back then, when I was a child; I hated math and economy and courtly intrigue and all that junk - but he also taught me to light people on fire.

Something like this. Ignore the BB-coded stuff if you want, I had a free minute, and nothing better to do.

The Prince is a talanted pyromancer, but kind of... Not really interested in doing whole "Rule the Kingdom!" stuff. Setting dudes on fire and having adventures is her thing; being a King... Meh. I guess, with Eygil's help she could be an okay-ish peace-time monarch, since she probably will actually listen to the guy who knows his job and let's him to do the thing(s) what needed to hold the Kingdom in one piece. War-time... Well, martial 20. She is good at war.

She is okay with Lore, aside from more complicated subjects, but unless it's about magikz she is not especially interested. That is likely to change later as the story progresses. Likewise, she is going to regret not bothering with stewardship, but whatever, Eygil can help with that stuff.

That said, she does writes poetry - it's... not so good, but that's a secret, anyway, as much of a secret her painfully average intrigue score allows. In most cases, her "Intrigue" works in the same way as Jacob's; not very subtle at all.

Something like this. Somewhat of a Kirisame Marisa expy, but nnnoot really.

Not going to win, but I had a bit of fun writing this.

We only get 70 points you use 85 so your plan isn't valid

Hmm, this is very interesting. But you are at 85 stat points, you only have 70. You may consider lowering your intrigue and stewardship. On another note, 10 is actually very average. 20 is quite exceptional and 30 is the limits of normal humans. On the other hand, if you have a large enough soul, limits of normal humans no longer apply to you.

For example, Alonne martial stat is above 30 something like low 50 or high 40, if I had to make a guess. Eygil knowledge in souls is also quite absurd, a little above super human.

I did?

...I did. And that's horrible. Ugh.

Well, alternatively we can do...

[X]Martial 20 I can kill you with LIGHT OF MY SOUL.
[X]Diplomacy: 10 I am a very model of a dashing Prince. If you ask my father, at least. "sighs audibly."
[X] Soul Knowledge 25 Lasers are not difficult!
[X]Intrigue: 5 I don't write poetry... Why are you laughing like that?
[X] Lore: 5 Does "Awful" rhymes with a "offal"?... Ehh, good enough.
[X]Stewardship 5 ...Bleh. Eygil, I choose you!

Even worse at being a proper ruler, and slightly less dashing, overall. Even worse at poetry, and much worse at hiding it. Might have made Eygil cry in despair once or twice. Her poetry is mind-rendingly awful and a secret to nobody, but since last person who dared to laugh got hit with a fireball in a duel nobody mentions that anymore.

Anyway, she is still a genius pyromancer and a brilliant war-time leader.

[X]Martial 15 I can kill you with LIGHT OF MY SOUL.
[X]Diplomacy: 10 I am a very model of a dashing Prince. If you ask my father, at least. "sighs audibly."
[X] Soul Knowledge 20 Lasers are(still) not difficult!
[X]Intrigue: 10 I don't write poetry. Really.
[X] Lore: 10 Wha- Don't read that!
[X]Stewardship 5 ...Bleh. Eygil, I choose you!

Somewhat more balanced build; still excellent but not quite "genius" general and pyromancer, but in exchange, lore and Intrigue do not suffer quite as much.

And then there are many variations of these two. I dunno, I am indecisive.

I will follow Prospalz's new Pyrrha Alken proposition. With some variation.

[X] Martial 17 : See the might of my soul as I kick your arse.
[X] Diplomacy 14 : Smile a lot, and let others clean up your mess. You are quite proficient at that by now.
[X] Soul Knowledge 30 : Collateral damage is my credo. House or mountain, when I want something to blow up, it will blow up.
[X] Intrigue 5 : I don't write poetry... Why are you laughing like that?
[X] Lore 5 : Does "Awful" rhymes with a "offal"?... Ehh, good enough.
[X] Stewardship 2 : You know what? I will let you take care of this.

An even more unbalanced build to a somewhat charismatic, spoiled, trigger-happy prince(ss?) who writes bad poetry. You just need someone beside you to be subtle, for you are everything but that.

Yeah, okay, I am still not really sold on anything - but I am going to throw a vote behind Ando's plan since it is, in fact a modification of mine /Minmax/ plan and otherwise that Diplomacy.5 plan has majority, and that is not okay without a good secondary character to mutigate the min-max.

Eh currently in Dark Souls II all the gods are pretty much gone. I mean do you ever really meet a god in Dark Souls II? That is why I replaces Piety with Lore. You learn from the teachings of the deceased gods and discover their artifacts.

Well, I feel like Velka is probably still around and doing well considering we see her Pardoners running around and they still have the same ability they used to, and Ornifex is running around and it's pretty heavily implied in the first game that her people are, like, the children or the followers or the creations of Velka. Her followers still exist and are still around, as opposed to the Way of the White and other religious organizations which have disappeared, which makes me say with a good deal of confidence that Velka is still around and doing well.

Heide's Tower of Flame and the Lost Bastille are all Venn.
Now, this is clearly set in the past of Dark Souls, as evidence by all these places not being horribly run down, but it's important that you note the Heide's Tower of Flame.

Namely, Ornstein sort of lives there. Ornstein is a god, and, considering that Heide is currently doing just fine, he probably hasn't turned Hollow and gotten all Abyssy yet.

An important thing about Ornstein is that he probably isn't there for no reason. In fact, the similarity of Heide to Anor Londo in both it's architecture and in it's guards, taking into account it's association with flame, in addition to Ornstein living there, makes me believe that that is the home of the Flame God Flann, where Gwynevere moved to when she married him and the reason Ornstein is that he followed her to serve under her command. Since Heide is currently doing fine that leads me to believe both Gwyn and Flann are also doing fine.

Then there's the Name-Engraved Ring there are ten different ring engravings each for a different God. It's description say's

"A special ring that can be engraved with the name of a god. Becomes easier to connect to worlds of players who chose the same god.
There are countless vestiges of long-lost gods in the ruins of Drangleic. Or perhaps they are the very same gods as ours, only known by different names."

This leads me to believe that maybe before Drangleic turned to ruins there were those ten Gods walking around, and, what do you know, it seems like Dragnleic is not in ruins yet.

Just because we haven't directly met any Gods in Dark Souls, aside from Ornstein, that doesn't mean they aren't around and in this particular period of time I would definitely argue that there are at least a couple that should be relevant.

In addition to all of this, Priestly orders are still running around and faith still let's you do Miracles and Hexes, so even if there are no Gods running around(which I sort of doubt) Piety is still very relevant in this world.

Well there is a debate in another forum on whether or not the person in the cathedral is Ornstein or not. Although, I am now imagining Old Dragonslayer dueling with Sir Alonne. You do have a good point in gods and what not.

On the other hand, I am not sure what a piety option what contain in this quest? I mean for lore I was planning on artifact hunts and tomb jumping. Not sure what else, I would do for piety. I mean it could be commune with the god or establish covenants. However, I felt that would be eaten in diplomacy; because, gods tend to rule their lands. Hmm thoughts?

[X]Ando Owen

I suppose the obvious thing for piety to be relevant to is miracles, but you've already rolled hexes, sorcery, and pyromancy into soul knowledge so you might as well just have miracles under there too, and let us decide the particular flavor of spell we're using.

How many souls do we get if we kill a god?

Well, seeing as Piety and Lore have so much in common(you basically tell Lore stories to cast a miracle after all) I was thinking Piety could take over lore's duty in addition to it's own stuff.

For instance, your Piety score could give you a bonus to diplomacy with gods, priests, and other religious people but a malus with people like Patches. In addition, it could enable things like creating churches and religious orders, convincing religious orders to come to our country or help us in our fashion, and spread religion and the art of Miracles to our people.

Maybe something with Bonfires?

Well, I am new to this type of stuff. I suppose I could change Lore to Piety; however, I am not sure about having people redo stat distribution. As a question to you guys, do you guys care either way?
