Honestly in the next cycle (with Asari, Salarians, etc) I can just imagine the equivalent of toys being left around the galaxy. I imagine the galaxy will be a lot more interesting, species developing differently.

The species of the galaxy are almost certainly going to see humanity as gods and devils. I wonder what name the Hanar will Give them.

Pretty much. So funny... so sad.

The Hanar... considering they call the Protheans the Enkindlers...mhm.....

Well... in my opinion the ideas would be divided in two. Three after the Council gets to see an actual, living... breathing preterhuman. Or whatever they call themselves by that age. But that would be too much spoiling.

There will be the Traditionalists, which is the accepted religious view on them, who will call Preterhumanity as the Blackened Abhorrence. They tell myths of shadow beings that wield dark magics and speak in a deep guttural and obscure language. Immortal demons that the ancient Protheans gave themselves to banish from the material universe.

Then there will be the Heretics and their small cults of the =[INSERT PROPHANE NAME]= which will call mankind as the Truth Bringers. Holy beings that cloak themselves in darkness and speak the deepest secrets in the universe and consider the protheans as sinful for trying to decipher their dark truths when they were not ready.
 
Yep definetly Warhammer 40k vibe . Both of their views seem to be true cause the Preterhumans seem to be able controlled demons army , having demonic weapons , using arcano spell and having a technology who tap both on physical universe and immaterial universe then they are also offspring of one being beyond the conception of life and death , time and space , who is shrouded in darkness but yet hide a powerful light . Full of wisdoms teached by their parents and their siblings , they own knowledge and wisdom that the Imperial Protheans were not ready for .
By the all-encompassing light shrouded in darkness , let the truth begins to reveal to the youngs civilisation by testing them with trials and cataclysm , with sadness and joys , with peace and war , with success and error . Let them come so they would meet and knowing what their truth is , so that their end begin and the Galaxy will be released to his shackle . (I love when I wrote poetic bullshit lovecraft , it make me crazy and gain me an alignement of chaotic neutral . )
 
So Protheans will actually recreate ancient humanity to understand pretehuman technology and this will become the origin of mass effect systems alliance humanity ohhh the interactions between eldritch humanity and normal humanity will be hilarious and exciting
