Arise a Predator (Worm SI) | There is a joke to be made there somewhere | Ya'll who asked for a Worm fic happy now?
There are many things I did not expect personally, waking up in a stranger's house and in the body of a WOMAN is something I most definitely did not expect. Moreover when I was given basic knowledge of who this woman is supposed to be. At first I thought that this was going to be a very weird dream, as sometimes I used to 'wake up' in my dreams only to wake up again.
But me pinching and slapping myself a few times left me with a stinging reminder, that this was real.
After a very brief but severe panic attack, I had calmed down enough to start looking at my surroundings while also getting a feel for my currently new to me body. One thing I noticed after calming down was the surprisingly super sized chest. As in, that was the first thing I was able to immediately see, aside from my chocolate colored skin and dark purple hair.
I can already tell I don't look normal. The last thing I remember was... oh right, I died. Not by truck-kun actually, it was a rampaging bull, I was saving a kid that just froze scared and was basically gored by the bull's horns. Yeah, that was very much not a pleasant experience.
Though one thing I do notice is that I don't think I am on my earth anymore. Mainly because one, the basic knowledge of this woman also explains that she lives in Brockton Bay. Now, I don't exactly know but I only know of ONE place that has the location of Brockton Bay.
That is the Worm Universe. Now I already have a huge problem and that is I now jack shit about this universe. All I know really is from memes, jokes, and really really broad ass strokes, to the point that I think it might be best for me to just roll with this life's punches.
Another thing I notice is that this woman has powers, and thankfully it comes with a guide in the form of instincts. So far, I'm very very curious about this power of 'mine', it mentions how I am a 'Natural Predator'. Hmm... oh hey hold on, this kind of reminds me of that Omniverse 'knock off' the Nemetrix.
Actually, now that I think about it. My power seems to function very similarly to the Nemetrix, the only difference being that the way I obtain 'Predator Forms', I need to drink the blood of a target that has powers. Then I get to keep that Predator Form.
What is surprising though, is that this woman already has like three forms available, and these aren't like bargain bin forms no. These are surprisingly powerful predators.
One is literally just the Crabdozer except the extinguishing saliva can be blasted out of the mouth like a firetruck's hose. Another is some freaky looking man o' war that flies in the air and has the ability to absorb light and lightning, storing it. The last one is a predator that would have hit every thalassophobia bone in my old body being a deep sea predator, oh and it can also walk on land. Thank god that I don't seem to have thalassophobia in this new life.
Ah, wait I should probably remember her- or rather my new name. Huh, Eien Yoruin? Kind of a weird name bu- oh wait someone's coming. I lay back down on the bed and pretend to be asleep.
I hear the door open and foot steps come closer and closer, up until I heard a chair be set down beside the bed. "I know you are awake. There is no need to fear, you are not among enemies."
Shit, I just got dropped into this woman. Sorry. But now I am already in possible danger.
Slowly I open my eyes and beheld an Asian looking dude... that was shirtless? "Uhh... Of all things I expected, seeing a shirtless Asian man is not one of them." I bluntly say.
Though this seemed to amuse him, as he chuckled and rolled his neck a bit, letting out a few cracks. "I am not ashamed of my body."
Ok fair enough, but. "Won't you get cold like that? The aircon is right there and open."
"Not really, I'm actually feeling a little warm."
Alright, enough questioning this man's state of dress. I need to focus. "Okay then, uhm... if you don't mind me asking. Who are you, where am I and how did I get here?"
Thankfully the guy just shrugged at me before clasping his hands together. "In order, my name's Kenta, you are in my house, and I found you in the alleyway outside my house stumbling and bloody. Though since you had no wounds, I assume that the blood didn't exactly belong to you."
Huh, nice guy. Wait, I look down and pulled the blanket away a bit, just to see I was in a very oversized (for me) shirt. Looking back up and into Kenta's eyes, I narrow my own at them. He just chuckled at my accusatory gaze, instead just leaning back on his chair. "Relax, I didn't do anything dishonorable to you in your sleep, though I have to say you are very... 'gifted' in many areas."
Woooooow ok, I may have just become Eien Yoruin for the better part of thirty minutes, but I can already tell he definitely gave me a good few squeezes. Looking down at the shirt, I lightly mutter. "You are huge and apparently your shirt is more like a dress on me."
"It looks good at least from my perspective. Anyway, may I have the name of the previously stumbling and bloody woman I decided to bring into my home?"
Ah, right. I felt my face redden a bit in embarrassment. "Right, name's Eien. Eien Yoruin."
This made Kenta blink a few times before he looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Like... Eternal Night In?" This time I raised my own eyebrow at him, wondering what that was about.
Only to realize that my name could literally be translated like that, and groaned as I pulled my knees up and buried my face in them and my chest. Though Kenta seems more amused at my misery judging from his chuckles. "Don't laugh please, I don't know why I was named like this."
"I didn't do anything." Hah?! I heard you don't lie!
"You were laughing!"
"You were hearing things." Liar, this Kenta guy is a big fat liar.
"Grr... fine! Though, thanks for helping me out. What can I do to repay you?" Ok, that was a very dangerous thing to say to be honest. Especially with how stacked this body is.
"Well, you can tell me how you got into the state you were in when I found you. I thought that this area was safe from attacks." Uhh... should I tell him or not? Looking back into my memories, I found out why exactly Eien was bloody and stumbling before.
Hmm... you know what? Why not, what's the worst thing that could happen? "I... may have uhh... eaten a cape."
Kenta slowly blinked once, before he started rapidly blinking until he looked at me with a 'wut' look on his face. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Uhh, I ate a cape? On accident? Ok, in my defense the guy was mugging me!"
This seemed to be something he found irrelevant since he just shook his head at me. "No I don't care about you killing him, I'm more concerned that you ATE him."
"It was an accident! All I wanted was to drink a little of his blood- and I am not making this sound better am I?" He shook his head at me with a slightly wary look on his face.
"No you are not."
I sigh out loud and leaned back to rest my head against the wall. "Ok, no wait let me explain. I'm a cape."
"That much I did gather already."
"My power basically requires me to drink the blood of those with powers." "That part I did not know." "So yeah, I wanted to drink just some of his blood since I had the chance after turning the tables on him. But then he pulls out a GUN on me! So. I maaay have turned into Crabdozer and accidentally crushed him into paste, then I just ate what was left of him."
You know, I thought I would feel a lot more disgusted about the fact I had apparently turned someone into meat paste and ate the remains. But I'm surprisingly not disgusted nor disturbed by the act, and despite the wary look on Kenta's face, he didn't look disturbed either. "Is it like your fuel or something? A powered person's blood?"
"Not really? They're more like keys? To be frank, my power is weird as hell." This got Kenta's attention, he seemed interested. I'm surprised he isn't throwing me out after my reveal of having killed and eaten someone.
"Weird how? Do you think you can explain?"
I shrugged at him, I guess now that I got this far and he still hasn't thrown me out. I guess it's only fair. "Sure. Basically the gist of it is, I can shapeshift into 'natural' predators. But not the ones we know like lions, bears, orcas and things like that. I have no idea how this part works, but I drink the blood of a powered person and I gain a 'predator form' that is a near perfect counter against that powered person."
Oh wow, I think I surprised the guy. Kenta's eyes were wide as he stared at me with a slightly increased bit of wariness. "Ok, let me get this straight. If you drink the blood of... say, a cape that has super strength and super speed, you will turn into that cape's natural predator with powers to counter them?"
Slowly I turn my head away a bit to give it a few thoughts before nodding at him. "Pretty much yeah. I basically get the ability to turn into a huge animal that is essentially a predator for that specific cape. Oh and that form is pretty much unlocked permanently."
Kenta stared at me for a few brief moments before he leaned back against his chair. "That's... a pretty weird power."
"I know right?!" He gets what I'm saying!
"Though I suppose that answers my curiosity. Now, are you able to move? Does anything hurt?" Huh, surprisingly hospitable considering where we live.
Regardless I start getting up, throwing my legs over the bed and sitting on the edge, I look down at my smooth dark legs... Hmm he sees them, but then again this guy already saw all of this body now so does it matter? Actually wait no yeah it still does matter.
"Yeah I can move. Got any pants or shorts that fit?"
"Not really. All my clothes are too big for you." Gee thanks, it's not like I don't have eyes captain obvious. "But your clothes are currently drying outside, I don't think you can leave yet. Would you be adverse to the idea of having dinner here?"
I shrug at him, hey I don't mind really. Can't exactly leave while like this, it's like asking any random joe to try and assault me while I am lacking my regular clothing options. "I don't mind, but if you're cooking I wanna help. I don't want to mooch off of your kindness like this."
"Very well, would you like to head to the kitchen now?" He asked with a raised eyebrow as he began standing up. Oh wow he is tall.
"Eh, why not. I could use the exercise." I hopped off the bed and narrow my eyes up at Kenta's amused ones, I am smol. Damn it!
"If it makes you feel better, I'm six feet tall." That doesn't help! I barely reach your pecs! Why am I a shorty?!
Shaking my head with a sigh I just looked at him with an expectant gaze. "Just... where's the kitchen?"
Kenta just rolled his eyes at me before turning around. "Just follow me."
Alrighty then, follow the shirtless muscular man. Easy enough. Hmm, I wonder what ingredients he has, I was a good cook back in my past life. I know I should be catatonic right now, but honestly that's not going to help so I'm just going to shove that in the back of my mind and deal with it some other day.
"What do ya got in the fridge big man?"
"Got a few ingredients. You'll see."
It would be later when I looked at his fridge when I asked him to leave the cooking to me. He had the ingredients and the utensils I could use, might as well pay him back for helping my ass.
Thankfully, he liked what I made for dinner. He then showed me this dishwasher and I called it an expensive drying rack. He then laughed long and hard as he agreed with my description of it, instead calling it a 'symbol of wealth' in most homes. You know when he put it like that, it kind of makes sense.
It's been an odd few days since that very memorable meeting with Kenta. I've slowly gotten used to this body, actually that's a lie. It's pretty much like I feel like this is me, which might be some bleeding from the original owner of said body. I'm older than her so apparently I took control while her memories and such were downloaded into me. Which was weird.
So now I'm Eien Yoruin, I'm a 4'2" dark skinned Japanese woman with silky smooth purple hair and yellow eyes, which makes my name all the more cringe to be honest. Parents and siblings had died to a Leviathan endbringer attack which is how she triggered, and all that was left to the girl were a few properties, quite a bit of money, and a small shop her grandma apparently used to run before she passed away.
Surprisingly enough, the shop was IN Brockton Bay of all places, and the original Eien had sold all the properties and liquidated all of her assets in order to make a living in this cursed land.
The mugging? That basically happened the first ten minutes after she got into the city. Then of course, the use of her power, the accidental murder and cannibalism, and the first encounter with Kenta, my first Brockton Bay resident friend. We actually exchanged numbers.
After being released back into the concrete wilderness by Kenta like I was some random cat he picked up and decided to just throw out. I went out to look for the shop that grandma Yoruin used to run, and turns out that grandma used to run a nice little cafe. Well, I say small, it's an entire building and has living space so I can work where I live.
Then I remember that grandma run a little cafe in the fucked up lands of Brockton Bay and wondered how the hell is it still standing. The building doesn't even look damaged by the time I got there.
Anyway, it took a few more days to basically clean up the place. Thank god that everything including the appliances just needed a good clean up of dust and the place looks brand new. Why, I even called Kenta and invited him into the place, he was interested and asked if it was fine, I told him it was all good.
So now I was waiting by the coffee machine basically trying to make a cup of chocolate coffee. I had bought some ingredients on my way here, and stocked up the fridge. Though I'd still need to go out and buy some more stuff to fill the cabinets.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the jingling of the bells by the door. Standing upright from my bent position, I saw Kenta and waved at him with a smile on my face. "Heyo big man. Want some choco coffee?"
He shrugged at me and took a seat at the counter, he's actually got a shirt on. At least he has some sense of shame outside of his house. "While I am more of a tea guy, I don't pass on some coffee. Sometimes I need it."
Turning back around to look at the coffee machine slowly making said coffee, I snort at his words. "Heh, mood. Sometimes I need my dirty bean water or else I cease functioning like a human and instead sound like an unhinged gremlin."
Kenta snorted from behind me. "Dirty bean water? What do you call Tea then?"
Without missing a beat, I murder his preferred drink. "Dirty leaf juice, and coffee's done. I'll get some choco powder, would you like some sugar, milk, and cream with your coffee?"
"Yes please, just set it aside here."
After setting two cups of hot chocolate coffee on coasters for the both of us. I pulled my hands into my sweater and held the mug with the sleeves, blowing on it to slightly cool it down. Though I did look at Kenta like he was nuts, he was just slowly drinking it while it was fresh hot.
"That can't be good for your throat."
"I told you, the heat doesn't bother me all that much. It's good, but pass the sugar."
I did so while also putting some milk in my coffee. "My man, you're drinking scalding hot coffee like it's a regular bottle of water. There's mild heat not bothering you, and then there's I can drink boiling water."
He let out a hum as he took a sip of his newly sweetened coffee. "Planning on reviving this place? It looks vintage, with the smooth wood decor and brick fireplace."
Looking around a bit, I turned back to Kenta and just shrugged at his casual changing of the subject. "Eh, maybe. Not right now though, I'll need to stock up on ingredients, basically design a menu and figure out how to run a cafe... Maybe even buy out the building next to me at one point and make an inn."
"Really now? I'm surprised that is your plan." Kenta murmured as he took another sip of the coffee, looking down at my short self.
"Eh, it's more like I'm just going to try and live my life. Make a living doing my own thing you know?" I saw him nod at me sagely, he set his mug on the coaster and leaned on his arms.
"You do realize that this is Brockton Bay right? If that is your plan, wouldn't it be better to. You know, set up shop elsewhere? Somewhere safer?" Got to hand it to the guy, he does make a pretty good point.
"Yeah I know, that would be the smart idea. But hey, who knows. Maybe I'd be able to eke out a nice quiet life as a cafe owner and maybe future inn owner."
The immediate sound of an explosion right outside my store took the both of us by surprise, and we both turned towards the door. Kenta looked at me with a slightly amused look, and I could feel my face heat up in embarrassment. I did NOT mean to jinx myself like that.
"Not. One. Word."
"To be fair, you were literally begging for it when you mentioned you wanted to have a nice quiet life." Kenta chuckled as he sipped his mug, eyeing the door.
Grumbling, I downed the rest of my coffee in one go and hopped over the counter to head towards the door. "Who the fuck is playing with dynamite outside my goddamn store?" Opening the door, I was greeted with a bunch of ne'er-do-wells, basically what look like wannabe gangsters.
When I say wannabe gangsters, I mean they look like walking grapes with how much purple these brats were wearing. They even had UZIs and literal dynamite, trashing the place. Looking around, I saw no police in sight and not even a cape, I groan. Do I have to be the one to do this? Though my answer was obvious as one of the brats literally tossed a molotov cocktail right at my new home.
I immediately jumped and felt myself rapidly grow and change forms into Crabdozer, the predator the size of a bus, fast as a sports car, capable of tanking hits, eating fire, and breathing a beam of fire suppressant saliva. I let the molotov shatter against my rocky exterior, uncaring of the flames as I stare down at the now fearful looking gaggle of brats.
"If you don't stop that, we're going to have a problem."
Then they did a dumb and started shooting me. Everything else now is self defense.
Feeling the bullets impact my shell and doing fuck all, I let out a rumbling roar before charging at them with a speed that surprised them. Almost immediately in my charge, I had gored one of them completely with my horn while crunching someone's leg with my own limb. Stopping on a dime with my six legs, I spun around to look at the wounded brat, and the other four wannabe gangsters while throwing the rapidly dying man off of my horn.
My eyes narrow on them before flashing to the left, oh hey Kenta was watching by the door. Ah, he raised his mug at me. How nice of him, realizing I'm not in any sort of danger... that and I think he somewhat trusts me to take care of these hacks to some extent.
Turning my attention back to the terrified gangsters, I spoke up with a rumble. "Now, you brats have two choices. Fight me and die, or take your bullshit elsewhere."
One of the gangsters rushed over to help their screaming crippled friend up and the other replied to me in a shaky tone. "Y-y-yes! W-we'll leave!"
It didn't take long for them to basically pick up their dead guy, and start hauling ass as fast as they can. They don't even have a car, what kind of gang doesn't have a car or some form of transportation.
Then that brat who replied to me earlier thought he was far enough to prevent retaliation. "M-mark my words! The Violents are not going to take this laying down! You better watch your back bitch!"
Rolling my eyes at such a generic line, I blasted a beam of my saliva at the wannabe, making him yelp and dive to the side as I walked back to my store. Transforming back into my shortstack self, and got back over the counter and in front of Kenta. Who was looking at me with a calculating gaze. "What is it? Got something on my face?"
"No... But this was the first time I saw one of your predator forms, it certainly looks fearsome." He complimented me while raising his mug like he was doing so as a toast.
"Ah, Crabdozer. One of my four acquired forms. She's a beastie alright, then again all of my forms are more or less beasties." I say with a smile before staring at Kenta with a small bit of intensity.
This caused him to look at me warily. "What are you doing?"
Hmm... So far, first meeting was ok, he may have fondled me a bit in my unconsciousness but he didn't do anything else, he wasn't freaked out about the power thing and accidental cannibalism, and he's kind of chill. Snarky as shit though, not to mention he's good looking. I think I can think of him as a potential best friend in the future.
"Nothing, wanna go out into the city and hang out?" My question caused him to blink before looking at me with confusion.
"Like a date?"
"Nah, just an outing with friends. What do ya say?" Kenta looked at me for a few brief moments before pulling out a phone, he set it down before replying to me.
"Sure why not. I know a place, they've got a pool table."
"Aww, no arcade machines?"
"No, but they got TV and it's a Korean barbeque-" "Say no more, let me close up shop and change." "Very well then."
Bruh, a Korean all you can eat barbeque with TV and a pool table? I'm going to save that place in my maps just in case I need to eat in their area.
So far, this is the second conflict I took part in ever coming into Brockton Bay. I'm actually a little proud I haven't accidentally started any bigger fights to be honest.
Just found this snippet pile after reading your Pokemon SI story...these are really good! Love the Gloria one...I expected her to jump into midle of a Smasher fight with the classic Sam line of:"Mind if I cut in?"
That would be funny, but it is a shame there are only 2 chapters.
The Worm fic is interesting...Lung RomCom with a fairly interesting Trump-Changer Combo? That is something I have never even considered. The Power is also great! Feels very Worm-y, like a Changer-Trump combo that I could see happening...also it would make sense from the whole "Experiment" perspective since it makes direct counters to gather conflict data.
The Skaven in 40k was kinda cool? I think it would either run out of steam or get really complicated to write since the Skaven had all of their development offscreened. Same with Yuri.
The Cardin fic? Not my thing at all.

Not the Standard Monster Hunter Experience (Monster Hunter Wyverian Semi-Gamer SI) 2
It has been a few days since I woke up as Eien and started my 'work' as the chieftain of Hearth Village as the locals called it.
Surprisingly, being a chieftain of this little fledgling hamlet is actually a little fun. Rewarding even. The experience is improved thanks to my Gamer-like ability and the fact that it literally saved me from asking 'stupid' questions from the locals.
A lot of my job isn't focused on paperwork, at least not most of the time. Of course I'll still need to keep records and logs of information about the happenings of the hamlet, what resources we have in abundance, what we are lacking, what we can do about it and etcetera.
I had met up with the hunters and their shared handler. The first hunter, Kevin Tonel, is a big, wide, fair skinned man with black hair like Yorick, he wields a lance and shield as his weapon of choice. He looks to be in his mid twenties and is someone who you could trust to get a job done as soon as possible.
The second hunter, Cain Aru, a pale redhead that looks to be more speedy and agile in comparison with a body build more like one of those Olympic runners. He wields a set of dual blades, although he did state that he sometimes either uses a sword and shield or a bow. Cain looks younger than Kevin quite a bit but I can tell he is of age at least.
Their shared handler is a woman, shorter than the both of them with brown hair that stops just shy above her shoulders, a tan complexion and with a hard body. By that I mean that she actually is somewhat considered a hunter.
Ina Zouten, is a handler, but she is also technically a hunter. She isn't a full hunter, but she has authorization to act as one when she spots a situation in the local area that needs a hunter at the moment and time could not be wasted. She explained that it was her job to basically try and repel the monster from the area, or if she knew there was a nearby hunter, fire a flare and stall the beast for backup to arrive.
The trio are a group of good people, comfortable and friendly towards each other. Though I did see her sweat a little when both of the boys stared at her.
Anyway, back to the task at hand. After acquainting myself with the local hunters and also introducing myself as the new chieftain and hunter, I set about my task the next few days basically chatting with the locals of the hamlet. Seeing what each of them do and think about what I could do to make this fledgling hamlet better for all of us.
Fast forward to now? I was sitting at my desk in my house, looking at my Gamer UI and reading through the information of my little territory. So far, there were a few pieces of information I was slightly concerned about knowing but as long as I focus on the numbers, I can keep my mind focused.
Mind's Eye - Let's the user access, navigate, and interact with the UI while performing other tasks.
Mental Recall - Let's the user call upon images and words from memories easily. As a side effect, the user has photographic memory.
Active Skills: None
Territory: Local Area (New Designation: Hearth Village)
Total Citizens: 32 (Including Self)
Adults: 19
Children: 13
GP Bank: 100
Access Shop?
Ok, I don't think I need to see my name and stats every time I open my UI. Though then again, I'm surprised I hit Level 2. How did I reach that already? Also Mind's Eye is a useful passive, I don't need to be seen performing 'Thousand Yard Stares' and confuse the people around me. I don't even need to explain how good Mental Recall is.
But I'm still confused as to how the hell did I reach Level 2 already when all I did was basically just talk to people and made sure that I don't accidentally burn down the hamlet. The Shop is also an interesting mechanic, I haven't opened it in the first few days, mostly just so I could get my bearings and get used to the life here.
I DO know that whatever GP is, then the way I accumulate it seems to be somewhat random. Because I've done a few odd jobs around the hamlet, helping the citizens out when I had free time. So far, none of it really ticked it up and I was forced to think about it another day.
It sucks that this Gamer System didn't come with a helper/advisor, it would have saved me a lot of headaches with trying to figure this shit out. I outwardly let out a sigh as I idly looked down and set the papers and my quill aside.
Before my thoughts could take hold of me, I heard a set of knocks on my door and turned to look at it before I spoke out loud. "Who is it?"
"Chieftain? It's me, Ina." I heard a muffled voice coming from the other side of the door and blink. Ina Zouten, the shared handler between Kevin and Cain. Those three share a decently sized house up on the hill a short distance of a walk away, had two floors even. What's she doing here?
"Miss Zouten? Ah, come in. Is there something I can help you with?" Letting her inside, I asked her that question at the end because I think I already helped them map out the surroundings while on a herb gathering mission to stock up on potions.
Speaking of potions, those things and all the other drugs and stuff in the games? The plants of the Monster Hunter world are just as fucking insane as the monsters are. The common herbs when crushed into paste and mixed with water and blue mushrooms, turns into fuel that kicks the body into overdrive and basically makes you rapidly regenerate.
The fatigue is still there, but the injuries, wounds, and loss of blood? All of that shit gets healed up and aside from fatigue, you are as good as new. It's bullshit I say, I don't know how that shit works but I'm pretty sure a common herb, blue mushroom, and water should not turn into a potion of healing. Yet it does.
Alchemy is a field of study, and to be quite honest. I'm actually a little interested in it, just like I'm interested in actually going out and hunting. Ah, wait I should focus on what miss Zouten is saying, I don't want to make it seem like I am ignoring her.
"Well... the boys and I have been wondering... You are a huntress right?" Hearing Ina ask me that. I blink, slowly nodding.
"Yeees? I even have my gunlance stored away in my storage because I'm not going to be using it anytime soon. Why do you ask?"
Ina fidgeted in place, looking a bit nervous. I had half a mind to tell her to just say it and get it over with already, but one that is rude, and two I'm in no rush. So I just let her collect herself before she asked whatever it is.
"If it's not too much trouble... Can you tell us your rank? We were kind of curious, as we don't get that many hunters coming out this far. Not unless the hunter in question is pursuing a migrating monster."
That is fair actually, and aside from unconsciously pulling from the memories of this person just so I could walk, talk, and do everything 'normally' without looking like an idiot. I haven't really been looking too deeply into those memories, most of what I delved in was 'general' information, and apparently the hunter rank doesn't come up in conversations enough that it isn't part of the 'general information' category.
Alright then, let's take a look at what Rank of Hunter 'I' was before 'I' came here.
Uh... I nearly drawled that vowel out loud as I started calling up memories of Eien's time as a Hunter. Okaaaay, I did not know that, Eien is a scary wyverian girl. Even looking at her/my memories of her hunts makes it feel like she's a goddamn monster herself. I never thought that I would feel bad for a bazelgeuse of all things.
So this is what G-Rank Hunters look like. I... kind of want to try and live up to this. I most definitely don't want to practice just so I could blast dash through the sky like Valstrax does, no I don't.
Anyway, I blink outwardly before turning my gaze to Ina and letting out a small kind smile. "G-Rank. But I haven't hunted in quite a while, so I may be a bit rusty."
Ina softly gasped as her eyes widened in what I could only assume is shock. G-Rank Hunters were really fucking rare, and the fact I got slapped into the body of one is more than a little terrifying. "A G-Rank? So young?"
Yep, I nod at the handler girl. Eien was a beast, and I'm very sorely tempted to try and live up to her name now that I have become her essentially. One thing I immediately notice however, was the fact that even though Eien is a G-Rank Hunter, her level is only Level 2 and recently just a Level 1.
This probably means that the Levels in this gamer system serves a different purpose. Especially since I don't really have any of the usual stats listed out. Things like Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and etcetera. None of those are listed at all.
Speaking of the system actually. I need to take a look at the shop, but that is for another day when I have free time. For now, I need to focus on my work and what else miss Zouten wants from me. "Anything else miss Zouten? Or did you come here just to ask me that question?"
"A-Actually, that isn't all I came here for."
At that I raise an eyebrow at her direction. She looked at the rather thick book in her hands before lifting her head to look back at me. "I have been seeing you go around and talk with the locals of Hearth Village. Is it safe for me to assume that you are planning on improving and expanding this little hamlet into something more?"
Oya? Really getting deep in there with your questions. I like that, and I simply nod my head at Ina. "Yes, I'll be the village's new chieftain and do my best to turn this hamlet into a thriving city. It will be a long road ahead, that much I can tell already."
"That sounds wonderful actually! Personally I do hope you succeed in this endeavor, it would be great if this place grew enough that it could support a Guild Branch." Yeah, that is a goal to reach in the future. But I'd have to at least make this hamlet a town before that could happen though.
Regardless, I snort at her words. "Boys' putting you through your paces? They aren't overworking you, are they?"
Ina seemed to blush in embarrassment. "I can manage the both of them yes, being their shared handler and all. But sometimes it feels like I have to bail them out when they get in over their heads. They sometimes do that."
This made me raise an eyebrow. "Really? Even mister Tonel?"
Nodding solemnly, Ina confirmed with a sort of tired air to her. "Even Kevin, yes."
Huh, that is a surprise and a half really. "You would think Kevin would be the responsible one."
"Oh no, Cain is just as bad as he is. Their tasks nowadays are usually just herb gathering, hunting meat for food, or just slaying or driving away monsters that get too close to the village. But even in those tasks, one of them would slightly wander a fair bit of distance away in order to fight the local rathian. Sometimes they would be fighting both the rathian and her rathalos mate." Hearing Ina groan out her grievances almost made me want to laugh.
"So what you're saying is... they're getting a little bored." My comment made Ina throw her hands up, the book still in her grip.
"Yes! I know that those two are A Rank Hunters, but come on! Why are they purposefully picking fights with the wildlife?"
"To be fair to those two, the higher in rank as a Hunter you climb, you tend to start fighting the more... fantastical kinds of monsters. Things that would have a good chance to inconvenience or outright threaten Elder Dragons. To maybe even an actual Elder Dragon."
"Fair enough. I'm still annoyed though."
"That, I can't blame you for." I laugh as Ina simply grumbled before bidding me farewell with a bow.
As she left the room, I looked down at the papers and see that the small pile was actually finished. I didn't have much paperwork considering the hamlet is kind of small and there isn't a lot of businesses. The only big business would be Yorick's forge.
I wasn't exactly lying when I said that this was going to be a long road. Even though I kind of enjoy what I'm currently doing, I have no doubt in my mind that in the future I will be loving and hating this chieftain job.
But since I don't have much else to do... Let's take a look at the shop.
Ok, my newfound respect for Gloria has more or less tripled. Because It's been a week since my little encounter with Adam Smasher and already my patience is being tested immensely.
Not because of little David, oh no. The little mijo may have been a little bit frequently hungry, but milk and surprisingly affordable baby formula kept him satisfied.
No, the reason for my patience being tested is because of either wannabe gang members or thugs trying to accost me and either, kidnap my son, kidnap me, kidnap the both of us, try to rob me, or try to hit me up like I was some easy street thot. You would think the obviously armored woman wielding a sword would at least garner some wary looks and have people leave me alone, but nope I mostly get called a dough girl or something.
I think it's an insult but I don't know what exactly they mean by that, does it mean that they think I'm fat? Or is it relating to my armor? If it's the first one, then fuck all of them with a sharp rusty pipe, Gloria's drop dead gorgeous. She only got enhanced when I kind of accidentally dropped in her body, if it's the second? Then I'll laugh at their bullet ridden corpse.
It more or less surprises me how fast I went 'native', and by that I mean it was surprisingly easy to stab and turn those thugs that wanted to shoot me into chunky salsa. How easy it was, even if I wasn't as fast as the Brazilian Bastard Jetstream Sam and the Unhinged Psychopath Raiden, as well as how simple it felt to brush off their deaths.
Something tells me that being dropped into Gloria's bod may have also affected my thought process, not including her memories and my new ability to speak española puertorriqueño of course. Because I don't think it's normal for me to simply just shrug at turning a single person into fifty 'people'.
Granted, I could argue that these thugs and wannabe gang members didn't exactly have me or mijo's best interests at heart, but the act should have still at least made me feel something. But nope, no disgust, no uncomfortableness, just a surprising amount of coldness, apathy, and disdain...
Ok that last part was just me feeling annoyed that I accidentally splashed David's face with some of their blood. I had to quickly wipe him clean and gave him a bath later that day.
My, uhh, 'surprise' life cancelling aside. I actually managed to acquire a decent gun collection and siphon some eddies from their corpses. Channeling my inner D&D character and being a hoarding loot goblin grabbing the stuff off of the bodies of those I killed.
I mean, they're not gonna use those anymore. Might as well take them so I could use it in the future, recycling and all that jazz. Then again that sounds more than a little fucked up, but then again I don't seem to find it bad for some reason.
But thankfully, things seemed to have calmed down. By that I mean I was actually able to leave the apartment with little David in tow without being interrupted by idiots who thought I would be easy pickings for the past ten minutes. Quite frankly it's a new record to be honest.
Now, of course while I have been mostly roaming around, I was also looking around the block for nearby job openings. More specifically, those that would allow me to bring mijo with me to the job. I can't exactly leave him at home, nor am I going to be stupid and hire a babysitter that I haven't thoroughly vetted myself.
What is annoying however is that there aren't that many jobs that would let me do this, and the ones that do allow it... well let's just say that I wasn't exactly trusting of their 'good will' and 'kindness' to hire a babysitter themselves.
But so far, I've been roaming around and I haven't really found a place that could hire me and let me bring little David to work with me. Kind of annoying but quite frankly, I'm starting to run out of options.
Though the very few legitimate options that I did manage to find feel more than a little... concerning. Like, there's a job opening for an assistant for a small diner, but that diner is one frequented by the Animals gang. Speaking of which, I was more than a little curious about their... what do you call those again? Bio-mods? Exotics? I think?
Anyway, yeah I saw a lot of those gang members eating at that place, and I don't know if I want David and myself anywhere near them. Not because they are using exotic mods, but I get the vibe that they might try something with me.
Then there is another job opening a few blocks away from the apartment complex for a bar, as a bartender thankfully. Even said I could keep David with me while I'm doing my job but he was my responsibility. That job offer is the most appealing one so far. Even if that bar is in Tyger Claw territory.
One more surprisingly honest, at least I think it's honest, job offering is one from a corpo of all things. It's an open offer, which means it's not really targeted at anyone, just that it is open for anyone to come and accept it if they want. When I checked out the details of the job, I found out it's more or less a babysitting job.
Now, that sounds easy. But for one, this is a corpo job which most likely means the parents are targeted by anyone and everyone in the same corporation they are a part of. Two, this might mean that anyone who takes the babysitting job needs to be ready to fight just in case some assassin swaggers in and zeroes their kid and them. Finally three, these parents might also be using their own kid as a means to an end and don't care if the babysitter and their kid dies.
I may be a little bit callous with my words but if the stories about Cyberpunk Corpos are as accurate as they are, then they put the greasy politicians and moronic company managers of my old life to shame. So on the upside, they are shelling out a fuckton of money for the job, it certainly pays the most of all the job offers I've seen so far.
But on the downside, it might be the most perilous. Because not only do I have to deal with a megacorporate couple, but I also have to deal with possible assassins, arrogant co-workers, as well as possibly every hired gun that was sent to off the couple and their progeny.
The fact that they are part of Arasaka is basically icing on the shit cake, as if I remember right that megacorporation is the biggest one in Night City and maybe even the biggest one in this world. I blink as I suddenly remember that Adam Smasher is part of Arasaka.
Hmm, oddly enough I'm entertaining the corpo job more than I honestly should. Then something caught my eye, I stop and turn my head to get a better look at what I was seeing. Huh, another gang altercation in broad daylight. It's actually a little funny how much I got used to them so quickly. Actually, am I supposed to find that funny? I shouldn't right?
Bah, enough of that, looks like the gangs are 6th Street and the Animals. Well, as long as they don't bring their fight in my direction, I won't have any problems with them fighting in the open. Even little David seems to be used to the gunfire, though I did get him some comfortable ear muffs to block out some of the harsher sounds.
Continuing my little walk, I sigh as I looked at the few offers I found somewhat appealing. The fact that the corpo job looked appealing at all was questionable at best and delusional at worst. But so far it is the option that is most blatantly obvious in what you are going to do, granted the other two are just as obvious.
Thing is none of these are really good choices, but they are the 'best' out of the shitty ones. Hmm... I do remember that the Animals were what did Gloria in at the bridge, but do I want to give them a chance? That gang seems like the one that respects bio-mods and strength, I don't know much about them so I might be assuming things a bit.
They'll be on the back burner for now along with that Arasaka corpo job, which meant that the bartender in Tyger Claws territory is the only job that doesn't feel like I'm trying to sell my soul to the devil. Then again the 'devil' moniker probably switches hands a lot in Night City.
So bartender might be the best one, which is actually somewhat familiar as I was a part-time bartender in my past life. Should be easy enough... then again this is Night City so the bartender might also double as a bodyguard...
Eh, fuck it. Let's go there.
Just as I was about to pull up a map to find the best route to that bar, I felt my instincts scream at me, causing my fight or flight response to trigger. Of course considering me, it's now mostly just a fight response, as such my right arm flew up and grabbed the neck of some gangly looking guy and turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?" My question was met with animalistic grunting and snarling, I looked into his eyes and sighed, another Cyberpsycho? Man these idiots keep popping up out of nowhere.
Turning to look back at a now laughing David, I smiled down at my baby boy before swinging the psycho over my head and into the pavement behind me. Hmm, his head isn't buried in and he's still moving, but I did hear David laugh a little louder, did he like what I did? Well... if he liked it so much...
I smiled brightly before letting go of the psycho's neck before grabbing his leg and lifting him over my head again to slam him into the ground once again.
"Do you like that Mijo? I think you do!" I babble at the giggling David like I wasn't thrashing the cyberpsycho like he was a nerd that owed me money. I must have made for a concerning sight considering the NCPD came by and were looking at me with nervousness clear on their faces.
"Uh... ma'am?" Turning from David's smiling face to look at an NCPD officer, huh he looked a bit wary of me.
"Yes?" I ask with a small smile on my face, this only seemed to unnerve the officer but he calmed himself down in order to look at me with a neutral look on his face.
"Would you please release the cyberpsycho so we may take him into custody?" His eyes darted to the limp man dangling from my grip. "-and maybe get him some medical attention."
Blinking, I turned to look at the cyberpsycho and saw that he was indeed knocked the hell out. Huh, I thought he'd literally be made of harder stuff. Oh well, not my problem. I turned back to the officer and shrugged at him, dropping the psycho and going back to David's stroller. "No prob, idiot thought it was a good idea to try and put my little Mijo in danger."
"I-I see... Well, thank you very much for your help citizen. But I'd like to say, you've done good work with disabling this man. Have you thought about joining the NCPD?" His words kind of stopped me in my tracks.
I let out a hum, I haven't actually thought about joining the law enforcement of all things. But then again with this being Night City, I have no doubts NCPD has like about two hundred different plants from the various gangs in this city.
When I let out a hum however, the man seemed to take that as a cue to make his pitch while his comrades dragged the cyberpsycho away to a van. "This city could use more people like you. Strong, dependable, fast, I think you'd make a great officer to help us clean up Night City."
While that is all fine and dandy, I was actually a little tempted to join NCPD, but I can't. Mainly because of one reason. I audibly sight before putting a hand on the stroller and turned to look at the officer. "As flattering as that offer is, I'm afraid I can't join. Mainly because I have to take care of Mijo, he's my son, and I doubt I'll be able to set aside time for him in that kind of work environment."
This seemed understandable to the officer, he nodded with a smaller smile of his own. "I understand, I have a daughter of my own but my wife takes care of most of the work. I just visit when I can."
Hmm, good man. I brought a hand forward to shake his, the officer easily grasped mine and gave it a good firm handshake. "Hey, who knows? Maybe I'll be able to join after little David grows up."
The officer rolled his eyes but I could tell it was more playful. "Heh, unlikely. That's going to be years away."
I raised a hand consolingly. "You never know! Maybe I'll find a trustworthy babysitter."
He shook his head before turning back to look at the rest of NCPD packing up to head back. "Maybe..." Turning back to me, his eyes flashed a bit as I received the digital equivalent of a calling card. "But if you at any point change your mind, come by HQ and look for me, name's Mitchell, John Mitchell."
"Nice to meet you Mr. Mitchell, name's Gloria Martinez. Though I'm surprised Max-Tac didn't come in to handle that guy."
"We only just confirmed that this man was a cyberpsycho instead of some random junkie who thought he was going to be the next big shot. Max-Tac was originally going to be called in... but then you kind of wrecked the guy." His words caused me to puff up a little.
"He's kind of weak for a psycho, I thought he'd get some kind of armor underneath his skin, but that just made dealing with him simple. Anyway, I'll be off now! I need to go and try and land a bartender job." I waved at him, he waved back as I started pushing David's stroller.
"Good luck with your prospects Miss Martinez! Stay out of trouble you hear?" His parting words made me roll my eyes before I quipped back.
"Thanks! But tell that to the idiots that try to attack me!"
...How in the hell are you making Adam Smasher a fan of her, because that is the only thing I can think of after her first interaction with him and him seeing her latest thing.
Adam: Good mother, 10/10 would breed. Asked to fight, but denied. She is still adjusting her teacher's style to her body.
World: what?

Not necessarily a fan, Adam is more so currently amused at the audacity of Gloria. The fact he saw her turn some idiot into a meaty confetti only "helps" her with him.
Adam Smasher of course knows his job, he will do said job with extreme efficiency. But when the job is done, he might look around for anything of interest...
Like our little Gloria SI who:
- Posseses nearly no Chrome aside from the essentials.
- Is "fast" with a sword, being able to turn a person into a red slurry. Without chrome (doesn't know of the suit but has an inkling)
- While wary of him, she was very clearly willing to throw hands even with him if he took a hostile step towards her son.
- "Confirmed" that she isn't at her best thanks to her comment of needing to alter her "teacher's" style to suit her body type.
Combine all of these together and so far in his optics, he is seeing her currently as someone who might be like Blackhand in the future. Very little Chrome, but can throw fown with the borgest of borgs.
Which is the reason why he's interested in her a little and why he is hoping that Night City screws with her to the point she becomes an Edgerunner out of spite. (Which of course, idiots are trying shit with her already) He's still salty that Blackhand bailed on him of course.
The Evil Maykr! (Evil Genius Issei SI) | It's all about PRESENTATION!
Not gonna lie, being reincarnated into the absolute death world that is Highschool DxD is one thing. Being reincarnated into Issei is another. But finding out I DON'T have that red Welsh bastard squatting in my head takes the cake.
Suffice to say, my knowledge of whatever Canon might happen is pretty much close to useless, especially since I am not going to go full pervert. I'm slightly sad though at Canon Issei's start, he was a one track minded idiot with a fascination for Oppai, he was once a bright eyed kid who wanted to be heroes with Irina Shidou.
Speaking of Irina actually, it was when I was six years old and just a few days after my birthday she moved in with her mom and dad as our neighbors. I can kinda see how Issei mistook Irina for a boy initially, cause goddamn she a tomboy with a capital T and B. She wore a shirt, shorts, a cap, and everything.
Ah, wait, focus me. You're trying to get your thoughts into order. So, full recap time.
Reincarnated into Highschool DxD as Issei, and I managed to finagle my way into my mindscape, it's empty as hell, and I have been living in this world for the better part of five years. Thank the heavens that I wasn't conscious during my first year, I did not want to deal with mental trauma caused by family members.
I was now eight years old and right now I am just playing with Irina. Playing at being heroes, and more often than not I let her play the hero and I played the villain. I wouldn't be so butthurt about playing the bad guy compared to Irina. She would literally pout the entire game when she played as the villain.
Of course, I didn't mind playing as the villain in our little games. In fact, I even went so far as to take inspiration from Megamind and various tokusatsu villains and just act as an over the top supervillain in our games. It was slightly embarrassing as I heard our parents laughing in the background, I was not gonna lie about that, but it was also really fun.
"Hey Issei? Why do you like playing the villain? Aren't they supposed to be bad?"
I blink as I heard Irina speak from beside me, the both of us were just sitting on a bench at the moment resting from playing that very game I was talking about. Turning to look at Irina, I saw her little face scrunched up in adorable confusion and let out a small chuckle before reaching over and patting her head. She had taken off her hat at some point.
My action eliciting a small cry of dismay from her, though she quieted down as I spoke up using the power of child's logic. "I don't like playing a Villain, I like playing a SUPER Villain. There's a difference. Supervillains are cool."
They really were, even the silly supervillains could find ways to make them seem awesome, daunting, and then some. Though it seems Irina disagrees with the way she's glaring at me. "Nuh-uh! Heroes are cooler!"
Smiling at the simplicity of that statement, I turned to stare at her with a small smile. "They are both sides of the same coin, you can't have a good hero without a good villain."
"You're really weird sometimes Ise." Irina had the gall to say that when I know for a fact that a year ago she decided to snatch her father's holy garbs and run around the house swinging a practice sword while preaching about being a warrior of peace, love, and justice. Erk, I almost vomited even from just saying that in my mind.
Reaching over, I pinched Iri's cheeks, causing her to whine and squeal in surprise as I assaulted her little chubby cheeks with my equally as tiny hands. "I don't want to hear that from you miss Warrior of Justice!"
Mentioning that little title never fails to get a rise out of her as she blushed madly in embarrassment. "I thought we agreed to never mention that!"
"I don't remember that, I did remember saying that I'd never let you live it down." I cheekily said as I chuckled, leaning back against the bench we were sat on.
I could see Irina pouting at me from the corner of my eye, she was acting all puffed up like an angry cat, it was adorable. She crossed her arms with a huff and turned to the side away from me. "At least I can call myself one since tou-chan's going to train me in the future. You? Aren't you a bit too dumb to call yourself an Evil Genius?"
Fucking Ow? Alright then, I felt my inner child and competitiveness rise up to the surface as I hopped off the bench and stood up. Turning to point at Irina, I playfully but also seriously glared at her. "Let's make a deal then, every superhero has to have a supervillain. The two of us will train, and when we meet again, we will find out who is the cooler one!"
Irina blinked before she grinned at me and stood on top of the bench, crossing her arms and looking down at me with that little smug smile on her face. "You're on! You're gonna lose!"
This was actually the last day we would play together, as a few days ago she told me that she was going to be moving out of Kuoh with her parents. It was sad to be honest, but some things don't change even when the butterfly hits. I can only hope that Irina would be prepared for the future.
My eyes twitched and I saw Irina twitch herself before the both of us sagged, I personally never thought that I'd enjoy playing with Irina so much when I first met her. It was a very fun two years of friendship, and judging by the despondent look on her face, I'm betting she thinks the same.
"It's going to be real boring without you Iri." I said with a voice that faked no sadness.
"Yeah, I'll miss you too Ise..."
The two of us sat back on the bench and stared off into the distance, more so the sun slowly setting over the line of houses. I felt her hug my arm and turned to see Irina burying her head as much as she could into my shoulder, her voice faintly heard as she whispered into my shirt.
"I don't wanna leave... I want to stay here and keep on playing with you."
I stared for a few brief moments before smiling softly and turned slightly to give her a gentle hug. "It's ok Iri, remember the promise. You'll come back to Kuoh at some point right?"
It took a few more moments before she let go and pulled away, her eyes shiny with tears as she wiped them. Before she cheekily grinned at me. "Yeah, you're life will become very boring without me!"
At this I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "My life doesn't revolve around you Iri, no matter how adorable you are."
She pouted at me with a slight blush before she perked up and smugly smiled at me. "Nuh-uh! Because I'm the superhero and you're a supervillain, you're life DOES revolve around me! Like when Super Dark Raven Knight Lord is the villain to Magical Girl Levi-tan!"
I blinked at that and stared at Irina, who blinked back before she realized what she just said to me. Oh wow I haven't seen a person go from normal to neon red in less than a second. "I thought you didn't like Magical Girl Levi-tan?"
Irina started sweating as she frantically looked around before pointing behind me. What, does she really think I will fall for tha- "Look it's someone saying Kitty Kitty Mew Mew is the greatest show ever!"
You fucking what? I will not hear this fucking filth. I turned around with my sandal in hand and saw- nothing, wait a minute I've been bamboozled! Quickly turning around I see a cloud of dust in the shape of Irina. Leaning to the side I see the girl running away at high speeds.
Staring at her form rapidly shrinking into the distance, I chuckled before getting off and slowly walking after her.
Yep. A whole load of fun she is. Also Magical Girl Levi-tan, Serafall metaphorically has the biggest pair of balls to literally air her magical girl show to the world of humanity. That show gets praise for having 'realistic' effects, unaware to those not in the know that those effects are actually real.
It's like a little inside joke for the whole moonlit world whenever they come across a random human talking about that show.
Lowering my gaze to my hand, I clenched a fist. Despite the DxD story portraying it as a light hearted dumb harem anime, I knew better. This world as a whole is one of easy Death. Especially if you get caught in the crossfire between the numerous mythological factions.
Granted, they went out of their way to hide from the majority of humanity, but that doesn't mean the fights don't spill over. I just need to look at the canon events of DxD, especially the stray devil incident.
Simply put? I need to get stronger. But I knew I don't have the Boosted Gear, I had something else. Something I did figure out though is that whatever my Sacred Gear was, it had something to do with shadows. Whatever replaced Issei's Boosted Gear didn't seem to have a sentient being behind it like Albion or Ddraig, which meant one of two things. Either there is one and it is sleeping, or there wasn't anyone behind the wheel but myself.
I let out a small tired sigh. To be honest, I could have done without having to do all of this. I just want to live another normal life, maybe build a supercomputer which I can use to play Minecraft and other games. But nope, I get reincarnated into a world that could just as easily kill me with a sneeze, with the world doing the sneezing.
I needed to get stronger and fast. But my parents aren't like Irina's dad, they weren't part of the moonlit world and are pretty much just average humans. I wish I had someone that could help me get stronger...
Huh? I could feel myself get a little sluggish and tired, and stumbled a few steps before catching myself. I heard something sound like goop bubbling and melting behind me and turned around to see a pure black sludge grow tall before rushing inwards and forming... a person?
Gulping silently, I tensed my body as I prepared to run from what was most definitely a supernatural being. Looking up the person up and down, I noticed that he had the appearance of a sharply dressed old man. Silver hair and beard along with the visage of an innocent old man that looked like he wouldn't hurt a fly, in contrast with his impressive bulk accentuated by his two piece suit.
"Perhaps I can be of assistance young master."
Yeah no, I'm not falling for that. At least not easily. "Who are you and where did you come from?"
"I have no name and I come from you young master." Wait what. That's kind of stupid, everyone should have a name and what did he exactly mean by coming from me?
"Explain." I couldn't help but demand, since this guy seemed to be humoring me at least.
"As you wish. I have no name because you haven't given me one, and you have created me with your wish, hence why I said that I came from you." That... didn't even make sense, how did I make him?!
"How did I make you? Please, stop talking in circles and just explain it to me." The butler, and that is what I think when I take his entire appearance into account, blinked as he stared at me before his eyes widened. He then... bowed at me?
"My apologies young master, I thought you had pieced it together already. I was made by you thanks to your Sacred Gear, Annihilation Maker. When you wished for someone to help train you, the Sacred Gear responded by taking pieces from your knowledge and your imagination in order to create me. You did not make me with a name in mind, hence why I do not have a name to give you."
Slowly, I couldn't help but blink as my mouth went dry. That... Annihilation Maker? THE Annihilation Maker?! The thing I thought was such an underrated Sacred Gear and one wasted in the hands of that little brat Leo-something?!
Now, of course I didn't take the old butler's word at face value and turned to look at my shadow. I mentally thought of creating a normal bird, a little sparrow to be exact. I watched as my shadow bubbled before a tiny little sparrow popped into existence.
I stared at the bird that looked up at me and chirped before flying up to hop onto my shoulder. It didn't even look any different from a regular sparrow, color-wise and everything.
This... changes everything.
I blink as I remembered my little childish promise to Irina and couldn't help but chuckle a little. Supervillain huh? Perhaps even, an Evil Genius? Though considering my Sacred Gear... perhaps an Evil Maykr?
Turning to look at the old looking butler, I stared at him as he stared at me. "I should give you a name... How about..." Getting hit by a dash of inspiration, I turned to the bird on my shoulder before looking back at my apparent creation.
"Sparrow. The Guide."
The newly named Sparrow's eyes glowed purple before fading back into coal black. He then bowed at me and flowed back into my shadow. I couldn't help but stare at it.
Chuckling a little, I turned to look at the path Irina ran down. Night has fallen and I stood alone in the dark. Whoever put me here has probably got a weird sense of humor.
A supervillain with the power to make minions from shadows, and a heroine who will learn about the powers of the holy light. This sounds like the start of describing a Power Rangers show.
Well...
I always did like playing the Bad Guy. Of course, that doesn't mean I've got to be a bad guy.
Ah yes, he is gonna go Megamind with the Presentation. Lmao! I do like Annihilation Maker, it is one of the rather overwhelming Sacret Gears when facing stuff up to Ultimate Class...it gets rather dicey in higher tiers of power tho. I wonder how that is going to be overcome...but yea, he can neg/low diff like 95% of the Verse with Anit-Monsters...it´s the top 5% that can neg diff him rather easily.
Ahhhh but you misunderstand me acquaintance. Since when did I say Anti-Monsters are all he will make? It did say that with Annihilation Maker, the limit is just your imagination. ;3
Looking up the person up and down, I noticed that he had the appearance of a sharply dressed old man. Silver hair and beard along with the visage of an innocent old man that looked like he wouldn't hurt a fly, in contrast with his impressive bulk accentuated by his two piece suit.
Six years and I've been working on a lot of things, working with Sparrow, getting myself and my parents stronger.
Oh yes, I actually decided to bring my parents into the fold, telling them about magic and the moonlit world, the world of the Supernatural. Of how every myth has some truth in it, of how every supernatural tale they can think of is real albeit some parts may be either embellished or straight up wrong.
Of course, Kuoh seems to be a hotspot for a lot of supernatural activity, and even some crime. Which meant a lot of things really, but that's a tale I'll talk about some other day.
Ever since Irina left with her parents, I couldn't find any other kid who I could play with. Not like Iri, but then again that might be the introvert within me rejecting the presence of everyone else. Irina simply barged into my life, and I will forever be thankful to her for it... of course I'm never going to say that to her face, she'll never let me live it down.
So I used the years to distract myself with Annihilation Maker. Really live up to my future name of the Maykr.
At first, I was a bit nervous. Mainly because I had to... well, kill the little bird I first made. It kind of hurt, not physically mind you, but more mentally. It's something I made, and I got attached to it a little.
But I'm kind of glad I 'killed' it, mainly because it revealed to me that it was never alive. It was an animated shadow, it had no biology or anything, and that isn't good. Because my plan was to capitalize on the 'conspiracy' that is 'Birds are not Real' animals. That's a really weird conspiracy theory that one.
So my plan was to actually fall into that conspiracy, by having Annihilation Maker create 'real' birds of different species, and create a creature I call Maestro, they are a hunched four legged creature with a back full of branches. They look like an animated tree and are about the size of a person. Their purpose is to act as my spy network, essentially making the avians into flying cameras, and the maestros are the the camera hub, they can fuse with large trees and 'nest' in the top.
I had to give myself a pat on the back when I made them to be honest, they were an absolute godsend. Especially when I first made the maestro first start into a seed. I had sent them all over Japan in the first year with the help of a couple of birds, and I managed to get a few onto some planes and boats. So now I had a budding spy network that spread throughout South East Asia.
You'd be surprised how many people just ignore birds as long as they don't shit on them, their car, or attack their pet. It's kind of funny actually.
There are also a LOT of supernatural beings literally just chilling in the open, my birds kind of veered off from their paths conspicuously around certain areas. Warding barriers or something similar? A barrier is making my birds fly around it and ignore that area.
Also as for how I can access all the information? Well, that's where my Sacred Gear starts being weird. Apparently I can make fantastical creatures that should have no right doing what they do. At first I thought the maestro is already stretching it, but nope.
Enter the Terrabyte, it is a little shadow creature I could put into my computer and use to access all the information on all of the maestros. But you think that's just it? Oh no, we haven't even gotten to the stupid part I did, I had a little thought about what would happen if I put the thing in my head.
Lo and behold, I now had a 'shadowy purple' interface in my vision as if I was a Gamer. It helped a lot to be honest. Allowed me to check the time without a watch and also put alarms for schedules.
Should I be concerned I'm letting a creature basically manipulate my brain to see all this shit? Yes. But am I worried? No, mainly because I made the thing and Annihilation Maker creatures without that much sentience are nearly fanatically loyal to me. Even after adding another creature to my head that would upgrade its sentience didn't make me worried.
One thing that did surprise me though is that the newly made sentient expanded and created a soft gel barrier between my brain and my skull. So as a result? I sometimes get euphoric feelings that make me want to take a nap, I told them to keep that to a minimum, and since my brain can't rattle against my skull then I won't get headaches or concussions.
Is nice if a bit freaky. Also I'm not sure that is how it is supposed to work but I'm gonna trust it for now.
Anyway, thanks to the newly sentient Terrabyte, which I of course affectionately call 'Terra', I can access the various feeds, catalogue, and sort them out to specific areas and places.
Also Terra's a nice cheat code when it came time to study for tests. So now I essentially have a photographic memory with the assistance of Terra. Is it cheating? Yes. Am I still gonna use it? Of course! I'm gonna be a Supervillain! I can't let something so simple like middle school exams fuck with that plan.
Though I still need a plan for Kuoh. I can't exactly avoid that one, it may have recently become a co-ed school, but it is one of the best schools to get a scholarship in. Granted, money wasn't that much of an issue considering that in the fifth year I managed to take over a few small time gangs and one yakuza family with the help of Sparrow and a few minions I created.
Surprisingly the Yakuza family knew of the supernatural, then I found out that they made a deal with a devil-kind to help them grow to that point. Hmm, interesting. I had Sparrow ask if they still had communications with that devil and they said no, it was a one and done kind of deal.
Anyway with a little bit of restructuring, and of course some light purging, those gangs essentially got folded into the yakuza family, almost like Sengoku Era vassals to a daimyo. After establishing some rules and squirrelling away some of those unsavory members I just let them do their thing. Of course a few maestros and birds kept an eye on them.
So I didn't really have a problem moneywise. Though I might need more cash if I'm aiming to fund and build a Super Secret Supervillain Super Hideout Trademarked. Especially if I'm going to be employing people from the moonlit world in order to ward the hell out of the Super Secret Supervillain Super Hideout.
I blinked as I felt a finger tap me on my shoulder. Turning, I see someone I didn't expect to see from the start. Violet eyes, black hair, and glasses.
"Excuse me, are you lost?" Sona Sitri, the heiress of the Sitri Devil Clan asked me with a raised eyebrow.
Staring slightly at seeing another one of the DxD cast standing right in front of me, I realized with a start that I was kind of staring rudely. I 'flinched' and hid into my scarf a little, waving back 'shyly' at the slightly shorter girl. "Ah, no. I'm here to take the entrance exam to get into Kuoh Academy."
"Ah, another applicant? The exam room is on the second floor, it doesn't start until..." Sona softly smiled at me as she checked her watch before looking back up at me. "Ten o' clock. You have an hour free time. You're rather early."
Scratching the back of my head, I mentally command Terra to set the timer to five minutes before ten. "I like being early, gives me enough time to think about what to do before scheduled time hits. Much better than being too late after all."
"That's a rare line of thinking, most students just procrastinate until the last ten minutes and just run to the classroom." The glasses wearing devil commented as she crossed her arms over her frankly nonexistent chest.
"Well, it's their fault for deciding to be fashionably late. Ah, I'm sorry. I haven't gotten your name miss?" I asked to keep up appearances.
"Souna, Shitori Souna. I'm the student council president." The Sitri heiress held out a hand for me to shake, and seeing as I don't wish to come off as rude, disguise or not, I gently but firmly grasped her hand to shake it.
"Issei, Hyoudou Issei. Hopefully I'll be a student of this academy soon."
"As long as you studied well, then you should be fine." Sona commented before her eyes flew up to the top of my head. Her own eyes widening a little as she stared. At first I didn't exactly know why she was staring when I felt Terra 'ping' me and saw a pop-up 'window' revealing a perspective from the top of my head. Ah, one of the birds is sitting on my head.
"There's a bird on my head isn't there?" My 'question' elicited a slow nod from Sona as I slowly reached up and grabbed the 'docile' bird from the top of my skull. "Are birds allowed into campus?"
"I mean... there aren't any rules that prohibit birds..."
"Nice. Alright, I'm going to head in. Here hold this bird, I don't think I'd be allowed in otherwise." I quickly handed the little sparrow over to a rapidly blinking Sona before I started jogging away towards the academy. "Thanks for handling the wild bird!"
After successfully bamboozling that devil heiress, I entered the building and was faced with a rather surprising sight. Two boys being beat on by a group of girls in kendo armor. I stared aimlessly, almost can't believing that this is still fucking canon even without Issei.
"Oh don't worry, it's just them that they target." I blink as I turned to look at who spoke, and beheld a brown haired girl with golden eyes.
"Is that... supposed to make me feel better?" I couldn't help but question her as I turned back to stare at the one sided beatdown.
"To be honest, yeah. The kendo team just went after them because those two are the perverted duo. Those two were caught peeping on them after they transferred here for their first year."
Huh, the more you know. I don't remember if Issei first met with them here in Kuoh or outside of it. But since canon is most likely turned into spaghetti, I'm not going to think about that. "I see."
"By the way, nice size. Both front and back." Wait what. I snapped my gaze to look at the smugly grinning girl as she leaned back and looked at my... ah, my front and back.
"That is an invasion of privacy." I commented matter-of-factly.
"Yes it is." The fact she agreed with what I said and looks unrepentant worries me a bit. "Anyway! I'm Kiryuu Aika, what's your name?"
"Hyoudou Issei. I would say it is a pleasure but I just felt like I've been violated by your eyes, so I'm just going to walk away from you. Goodbye."
Doing exactly that, I turned around and headed for the stairs to the second floor. Only to blink as I felt an arm wrap around my neck and pull me down a bit. "Aww come on Hyoudou don't be like that! I can see you're heading for the entrance exam since you're going for the second floor. I can show you around the Academy since you still got like an hour before the exam!"
"With all due respect I would like to decline your offer." I tried to get away from this perverted girl's grip, only to fail as she pulled on my scarf, causing me to grab onto it to keep it covering the bottom half of my face.
"Too bad! You're my friend now!" Aika cheered with a grin as she started dragging me away.
Huh, this feels familiar. Ah right, this is almost like when Irina decided to drag me out of my house to play with her.
Hmm... maybe she'll be an interesting friend. Who knows, maybe she'll even become my first henchman in the future. Or would it be henchwoman since she's a girl. Can I use Henchman even if the one I'm describing is a female?
Bah. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. For now? I guess I'll just walk around with Kiryuu.
Then again, this might be a mistake as I was almost late for the entrance exam because of her.
it's going to be a barrel of laughs to see people's reactions to see what they thought was a nice if kept to their self student suddenly go into Evil Genius monologues when his childhood friend shows up.
Of course. What kind of Evil Genius would Maykr Issei be if he just busts everything out into the open with no regard for his own wellbeing? Plus he still wants to build up so that he could build his Super Secret Supervillain Super Hideout Trademarked in a Super Secret place.
Preferably an isolated Island.
Preferably an isolated Island with a Volcano.
Preferably an isolated Island with a Volcano, a set of other islands around it with natural resources for him to exploit.
What Evil Genius doesn't have an Evil Lair? A bad one, that's what.
