Pokemon SI's

BANIX on FFN has been working on this project where 7 different characters have been inserted into the pokemon world. However, what makes it interesting is that he has developed each of the 7 characters independently (each of them has their own fic) before they converge at points in the overall story. There might be some repeated scenes as a result of having 7 different fics, but he tries his best to focus on what that particular character is doing/feeling in that scene rather than a copy-paste of the scene. It is a project that is at least worth a look, a lot of people really liked it. And he updates quite frequently these days (if you follow all 7 stories).

Banix's pokemon fics
I Just Want To Travel The World: Probably the one that most people should start with. It offers an introduction into how most of the pokemon world in Banix's stories work as Velda Vera (a female MC for this fic, he has others with a male MC) starts on her journey as a pokemon trainer in Hoenn.
The Sun of Sunnyshore: Probably the next most favourite of the 7. It's a male OC insert as Volkner story. But as a reluctant gym leader. The hows and why will be addressed in the story. Sinnoh focus (at least in the beginning)
Rocket's Exterminator: Again a popular one amongst his readers. This is a male OC insert who ends up being a part of Team Rocket with a vengeance. Indigo focus.
Reach for the Skies: A female OC insert fic. She is a Ranger of the 1st Ranger Regiment of the Johto Ranger Force in the fic.
Histories of the Earth: A female OC insert fic. A Historian/Archeologist? born in Kalos goes around looking at different ruins and explores myths/legends and stuff. Earth specialist.
Ordinary Researcher: A female OC insert fic. She is part of the Juniper family in Unova and is a researcher.
Fairy Guardian: This is different because while the insert is male, he is married. Hence the story does not have a singular focus but a dual one both the OC insert and his wife. Fairy specialist from Alola. Not really romance focused.

His pokemon stories aren't really romance focused at this point in time. There are a few pairings (mostly for the older ones like Volkner and in Fairy Guardian and side characters), but they are not the main focus of the story. They are often light mentions, a little fluff here and there at best.

Conquer by Twubs: Also another good story. It is a Brawly insert, but it really has only begun recently, twubs was focusing more on completing his existing HP fic, Voleur D'âme (which he has). He should be focusing more on this fic soon.

No. If someone cant be bothered to put it in Google, then no I dont see a point or a reason. It a recomndantion if they dont want to look it up that's their issue. 111111111111 thanks for the motivation ;) (sarcasm)

A few others that I managed to find that in my follows I would recommend include.

Pokémath by A Hobbyist: A relatively new fic. 4 chapters long, published Jun 20, last updated Jul 1. "A pseudo-genius with a photographic memory on all things pokémon gets the opportunity of a lifetime: he finds himself in the pokémon world. He's played the games, watched the show, read the wiki, seen the videos, and now he's about to live the life. But how well will his memory match up with this new reality? The answer: enough to exploit the crap out of everything." was the summary. It looks to be a decent wish fulfilment fic, but he has also begun to realise that what he remembers may not be what it is like in reality. Not too sure how battle scenes go yet, main focus so far has been setting up his identity in this new world and starting his journey.

Dreaming of Family by Gildenth: The approach to battling is very nice and is a definite plus. The pokemon team is already pre-selected in mind, so it is more of finding them and growing with them in power. So the total amount of pokemon that the MC interacts with on a personal level will not be some crazy amount. It's around 12 if I remember correctly. It starts 10 years before canon, and the MC is born into the Blackthorn family. It's technically a male insert into a female body, but there really is no difference from it being a female insert from the start. The romance partners are all females anyways, so it had little impact on the story, to be honest. There are also some sections that are written from a particular pokemon in her team's POV. However, updates are a bit slow.

I just started reading "The Sun of Sunnyshore" and only remembered after a couple of chapters that you've mentioned it here. I'm about halfway through right now and it's been rather good so far. At least from a story perspective, on a technical level it has too many errors to call it "rather good". It's by no means unreadable, but BANIX seems to have a problem with tenses and third person singular -s. Its not a constant problem but about every chapter has a couple of tense or -s errors, so much so that it's been rather noticeable to me. Do his other fics have the same problems?

Just remembered Gaming Guardian, also on ffnet. Having asked the author some time ago, I can affirm it is officially discontinued because of a mishap with the doc files, from what I understand. It's still so good I would read it again, even knowing it probably won't even be updated again.

The first one was last updated earlier this month, and even though the beginning is a tad slow, and the story doesn't really get into Pokemon stuff until the fifth chapter, it's still a good read.

You can still read it by just putting it in a web archive site.... I did it with Gaming Guardian Chapter 1, a pokémon fanfic | FanFiction
