Let's Poikemon battle, poi!

The downtime during the patch update and a trip down the memory lane in Pokémon Leaf Green left me with a nagging muse.

Poikemon Master Yuudachi, Poi!

"Uuuh… Where are they poi?" Yuudachi wondered out loud with a mixture of worry and frustration. She frowned. For the umpteenth time, her red eyes scanned the sea for any sign of her companions. Much to her consternation, they were nowhere to be seen.

She involuntarily shuddered. Once she got back to the base, the admiral would surely chew her ass out for losing contact with the rest of her fleet.

It was barely an hour ago when she and her sisters were on their way back from a midnight raiding mission around the Sav Island. En route, they encountered a particularly thick fog just before sunrise. The fog was so thick that when she stretched her hands out straight, she could barely see her own fingertips.

To make it worse, it messed with her radio so much that she received nothing but endless statics. Even her skilled lookout fairy and modified Type 22 surface radar couldn't do much for her.

Yuudachi did try to close rank, attempting to bring at least another one of her team mate into view simply to prevent a total loss of contact. But alas, it was to no avail.

And when she finally made herself out of the fog, the Shiratsuyu-class destroyer found herself alone with nothing but empty ocean between her and the horizon.

Her heart dropped. Even though the fog had dispersed, her radar still failed to detect any surface contact, and her repeated attempts to raise the naval base with pre-set frequency was met with no reply. For a moment, she pondered whether to make emergency call in open channel or not.

Yuudachi squashed the thought. She could still be deep inside Abyssal held territory and the last thing she wanted was drawing the attention from the prowling Abyssals.

For once, Yuudachi felt that she was utterly alone.

Without much option left, she maintained her course north towards the last known direction of friendly water. At flank speed.

Moving at over 33knots, Yuudachi didn't have the time to react when something sprang from the water right in front of her, something orange and white. She slammed into the object with full force.

The impact felt like being hit by an inert bomb and stars exploded in her vision.

"Arrgh!" Yuudachi exclaimed as she tumbled backwards. Fortunately, the water didn't hurt her bottom as much as solid ground.

Yuudachi rubbed her sore nose with her free hand. "Ouch –ch –ch… what the hell was that, poi?"

SPLASH… SPLASH! SPLASH….

Yuudachi tensed up. Reacting on well trained reflex, she quickly pointed the gun turret in her right arm towards the direction of the sound. The twin barrels of her trusty 'poi-gun', the 12.7cm model B guns ready to let loose at the very first sign of trouble.

Instead of the familiar Abyssal, Yuudachi found herself treated with an unusual sight. It was large, it was orange and white like the Sendai sisters, it looked like a bloated koi carp and it was staring back at the business end of her guns with terrified gaze.

Yuudachi blinked, and blinked again to make sure she was not hallucinating. "What the hell are you? Poi."

Part 2 & 3
Have the part 2 and 3 of Poikemon Master Yuudachi, Poi!

Yuudachi picked herself up looked at the strange fish with apprehension. She never saw anything like it before. Even stranger, the fish seemed to know that it was being held under gunpoint. Still keeping her aim, Yuudachi carefully made her way towards the orange carp as she finally gave in to her curiosity.

After all, a funny looking fish was the last thing she would associate with the Abyssals.

"Ma…karp!"

Yuudachi stared. The fish had just made a sound as if it was trying to apologize for the earlier crash. "Did you just talk?"

The fish, or more accurately a Pokémon commonly known as Magikarp, did an impression of quick nods. "Karp!"

While it didn't exactly talked with understandable words, it was clear the Magikarp was capable of understanding human speech and intelligent enough to communicate back to her. "Freakish..." Yuudachi commented warily. Nevertheless, her facial expression quickly morphed into a grin. "But you're kinda funny, poi."

It was the fish's turn to look at Yuudachi, confused by the sudden change in her demeanor. "Karp?"

"Well, I can't leave you here can't I? Who know what the Abyssal will do to you if they find you here," the destroyer plough on, ignoring the questioning gaze she was getting from the Magikarp. Then, she picked it up and secured it under her left arm.

The Magikarp struggled to free itself but no matter how hard it tried, Yuudachi's hold was simply too strong for it. In the end, it gave up and resigned to the fact that being a girl's pet would probably better than being ended up as Pidgeot's dinner.

Nevertheless, it really wanted to scream that a human capable of skating at high speed on the surface of the sea was absolutely wrong. Eventually, the cry against of the injustice of the universe petered out into grumbling acceptance.

Oblivious to the Magikarp's internal thought, Yuudachi resumed her voyage north at reduced speed. Mainly because she didn't want have another accident on the high sea. Once was enough, thank you. Well, if she arrived late, the fish she was carrying could be used to distract Secretary Ship Nagato.

Hopefully.

It took her several hours, but finally her radar acquired a large contact. From the radar return, it was moving at a sedate pace. Yuudachi slowed down. It could be an Abyssal battleship. But instead of avoiding it altogether, she decided to approach the unknown ship from its stern despite the passenger she was carrying. If it was turned out to be an enemy, she could always unload a full spread of Oxygen torpedoes and bug out before the enemy could turn around to bear its guns on her.

Little by little, Yuudachi crept up and closed the range. As the ship was just beyond the horizon, she noticed there was faint trail of smoke.

Her heart buoyed. Smoke trail meant good old steel hulled ship and in the dangerous water close to Abyssal infested area, it also meant shipgirl escorts. Maybe the reason her call was not replied because they were operating on strict radio silence.

Or so she thought.

Poor girl, her deduction turned out to be wrong. It was a sparkly white cruise ship and people were milling on the deck as if there was no war raging across the globe.

"What the poi?"

***

Port Vista, a well-developed resort city located on an island just offshore of Kanto region was a popular tourist destination. With its warm tropical climate, stunning beaches and lush jungle surrounding the city's edge, it did not take too much to wonder why Port Vista continuously received large number of visitors.

Yuudachi was one of the visitors. But unlike the others, she was there simply because Port Vista was the closest port from where she encountered the cruise ship earlier.

Sitting at the very end of one of the wooden piers available for luxury yachts, Yuudachi could no longer deny that she was lost. Not the arriving at different island kind of lost, but stumbled into an entirely wrong universe type of lost.

Granted, the new world was peaceful, there was no Abyssal terrorizing the seas, and she would no longer required to sortie out and hunt the Abyssals down. To top it off, there were numerous creatures, the so called Pokémon present as part of the fauna.

But that of course, meant she did not have any idea what she was supposed to do.

She was a shipgirl, the spirit of a warships summoned from her slumber and given human form to once again protect her country and ultimately, fight for humanity against the Abyssals. She knew she could get hurt and boy, she did get herself damaged far too many time for her to count.

In fact, Yuudachi expected the possibility of, and even prepared to die in combat.

But being washed up into another world simply because she ran into a thick fog?

Well, that was honestly at the bottom of her list of expected disasters. The Pokemon basically hammered in the fact just how far away she was from home.

The only saving grace was that she happened to have a few thousands Yen in her pocket, carried on her whim just before she sortied out. Despite the weirdness of the new world, Yuudachi was glad to find out that Yen was being used as its standard currency. At least she could survived for a few days before she had to look for a new source of money.

Yuudachi slapped both of her cheeks. "Well, time to get started poi," she announced to herself before she leaned to look at the water below the pier.

"Well Koiking, any idea?" Yuudachi asked the Magikarp she had brought along with her.

"Ma… blllggrhh…. Ka… bllgrh…"

Yuudachi did not even bother to suppress a sigh, her Magikarp was too busy deciding whether it want to swim or drown. "We're like... hopeless aren't we?"

Part 4
I'm bored... Got too many things to do but I'm just too lazy so I ended up with the Part 4 of Poikemon Master Yuudaachi, Poi!
***

With nothing else for her to do, Yuudachi decided to head for the town so she could hunt down some odd jobs. If she was lucky, there would be one or two shops seeking to hire temporary workers. Before that however, she had to go to the nearest store and bought herself some Pokéball. She didn't want to leave Koiking alone for too long considering the Pokémon had dubious chance of surviving by itself.

Much of that could be credited to the captain that she met earlier, who remarked the way she was lugging her Magikarp on the sea. Naturally, she was confused by that statement.

But when she arrived at Port Vista, she quickly learned what it was about, Pokémon could be stored into the specially developed device. In fact, it was the standard way of how people carried their Pokémon around.

How the Pokéball worked was a mystery to her. But from her observation, she knew the ball would convert a Pokémon into red coloured energy before storing it inside. She had to admit it was a nifty piece of technology.

After a quick word to Kioking, telling it not to attract attention to itself, Yuudachi walked away from the pier. Before she could get far however, Yuudachi noticed that she was being trailed.

The shipgirl smirked, someone probably trying to mess with her while she had some steam to blow. What a perfect opportunity.

She quickened her steps and veered into the closest back alley in an attempt to confirm her suspicion. After reaching an spot secluded from the outside traffic, Yuudachi turned around, waiting for the confrontation.

Not long after, two persons in trench coat followed her steps. She noted that both of them were young men. One was short haired blonde while the other one had his long auburn hair tied into low ponytail. Both of them slowed their steps before they came to halt, roughly a dozen yards in front of her.

"Ho… so it's you both who have been like following me around…" Yuudachi asked, though it was less of a question more of a statement of fact.

The long haired man took a step forward and smirked patronizingly. "That's right missy, we are. You see, we noticed that you have an interesting piece of technology so I'm going to tell you nicely. We want it."

Yuudchi had to blink for a moment as she tried to make sense of his demand. Piece of technology? Her? Despite her initial confusion, it did not take long for her to realize that he was talking about her rigging. "Ah. Um… How 'bout like, no?"

Predictably, the man frowned when he found himself denied. "Miss, you might wanna re-"

Suddenly, the blonde man loudly sighed, effectively cutting his companion in the middle of his speech. "Save it Mike, I don't have enough patience for your diplomacy," he voice out with annoyance.

As he did so, he reached into his trench coat and pulled out a Pokéball. "Now brat, give us what we want or prepare to fight."

Much to their surprise, Yuudachi did not cower in fear. Instead, she chuckled softly. When her chuckle died down, her face was plastered with a menacing wide grin. "I see. Well then, let's have a beautiful party shall we?"

Part 5
A/N: A bit vicious. But such is the nature of DDs knife fight.

Part 5

"Hmph! Let's see if you're still cocky after this," the blonde said with an annoyed scowl, right before he threw his Pokéball forward. "Go, Machop! Teach her what happens when she messes with Team Rocket."

The ball sailed for short distance before it split open and released the Pokémon inside. It was a greyish blue humanoid roughly the size of a toddler.

Yuudachi tensed up and readied herself into a practiced stance. While the most prominent feature for the Machop was the three ridges on its head, it was the well-toned body and the muscular arms that put her slightly on guard.

"Oi oi oi. Don't tell me you're going to fight against a Machop," Mike, the other one of the Rocket pair chimed in when Yuudachi did the exact opposite of backing down. He sighed theatrically, and pulled out his own Pokéball. "Ah well, hope you're not going to regret this."

Soon after, another Pokemon was called to join the fray.

Yuudachi had to blink, and blinked again at the new Pokémon. She had seen Pokémon in several shapes and sizes like fishes, canines and birds. But that was the first time she saw a walking plant with an upturned yellow pitcher as its head. Its body was nothing more than stringy stem, which split into two parts to form its feet while it arms were made of two green leaves.

"What the poi is that?" Yuudachi blurted out loud before she could stop herself. Her confusion momentarily stunned the both of her attacker.

Then, the blonde simply rolled his eyes. "Stop pretending to be stupid," he said with irritation before he turned to address his companion. "Mike!"

"Got it," Mike reply with a lazy nod. "Bellsprout, Wrap her up please."

The Bellsprout faithfully responded. From behind its leaves, two long vines lashed out towards Yuudachi at great speed.

Nevertheless, the red eyed ship girl was quick to react. Without much room to manoeuvre, she dash forward and let the vines to shoot past and coil around her. But not before she reached with her right arm and grab one of the extended vines.

Normally, it would result in an unwinnable tug of war as the Bellsprout would root itself to the ground and squeezed the fight out of its opponent. This time however, it miscalculated.

With 42,000 horsepower from her Kampon steam turbines to back her up, Yuudachi yanked on the vine. Hard.

The Bellsprout suddenly found itself flew forward, unaware that its owner had gone slack jawed at the ridiculous spectacle.

Yuudachi didn't stop there.

"HIYAAAA!!!!!" With a loud cry, she then swung the Pokémon over her head as if it was a weighted chain, with great speed. The centripetal force quickly overwhelmed the Bellsprout and caused it to relax its coil on Yuudachi.

The ship girl felt the wrap loosened. Without wasting any moment, she then quickly seized on the chance and release Mike's Bellsprout in mid swing. The built up momentum threw it into a wall. The Bellsprout hit the wall with a loud thud and then slid down to the ground, totally out of commission.

Nothing but silence reigned in the aftermath of the scene, and Yuudachi decided to break it. She gestured challengingly to the Machop and its master. "Now, I wonder one of you are like going to get poied first."

Shock turned into rage, the blonde Rocket grunt snarled at the gall of the ship girl. "You dare… Machop, teach her. Chop her bones into pulp!"

With its own battle cry, the Machop dashed forward at Yuudachi. It reared its right hand back and the open palm glowed in white light.

Yuudachi allowed herself to be on the defensive. The repeated chops from the brawling Pokémon were fast and packed lots of power behind it. She knew that a connected strike could very well leave her with painful bruise to nurse.

Nevertheless, Yuudachi held her ground. Strike after strike were either blocked or parried away. Occasionally, she tried to slip her arms inside the Machop's defence to deliver her own blow. But like herself, Machop proved to be competent in hand to hand fighting.

The while exchange took barely a few seconds but in between, they traded dozens of blows. Nevertheless, Yuudachi found the opening she was looking for. She jerked herself back a little and forced the Machop to overextend itself.

Then, her left hand slid once again into its defence but instead of trying to hit the Machop, she grabbed it by its wrist. Like what she did to the Bellsprout earlier, Yuudachi yanked the Machop towards her with great force. Then, using her right hand, she caught the Machop by its neck, lift it up a little, and slammed it into the pavement.

The Machop tried to stand back up but after several dizzy steps, fell back onto the ground, out like a light.

Satisfied that she did not accidently killed the two Pokemon, Yuudachi then turned her attention back to the two men. She cracked her knuckles. "So… who's next?"

Mike, the one with the long hair, gulped and took a step back. "Uh, miss, I think maybe we should call a truce…"

Unfortunately for them, Yuudachi did not feel merciful that day, especially after the two thugs who tried to use physical force on her. "Too bad, you're messing with the Nightmare of Solomon, and I'll show you why I have that nickname."

***

Minutes later, Yuudachi walked back out from the back alley with a satisfied smile. She patted her pocket lightly and felt the thick bank notes she had liberated from the Rocket duo. Happy that she was about 40,000 Yen richer, Yuudachi walked down the street with noticeable skip in her steps.

Yuudachi sing songed, "meal time, meal time~"

Aww yiss.

Porta Vista huh? Wonder which region Yuudachi will be visiting first.

Yuudachi is going to break people's brains in that world. For one thing, she won't need pokeballs to make captures of pretty much anything short of Mew.

The thing I'd be curious about though, what happens if someone throws a pokeball AT her?

Centripetal. Most people get that one wrong.

I'm going to start with Kanto, mainly I prefer the original 151. The later generations just don't hold the same appeal to me.

Agreed, though to me the second gen is cool as well. Silver was my first Pokémon game. While the ones that follow are interesting, I get a bit scattered with the sheer number of pokes.

This is pretty interesting. Never expected a cross of these media, though.

Huh, I'm cool with everything up to & including Gen4. Gen3 is where I started and Gen2 is probably my favourite for the fact that you can get 2 regions. That and the fact that Scyther, Phanpy & Xatu are Gen2, best pokemon.

I had the extremely amusing mental image of KoiKing's lips flubbing about under air pressure as Poi carried him under her arm.

Very cute, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. Poi is a fun character to read.

Well of course, she's basically in the superhuman territory and I'm not going to nerf her down just for the sake of balancing. On the sea, her rigging can be downright lethal because it is essentially weapon suit in a human sized package.

But on the other hand, there are lots of Pokémon moves that can surprise her if she's not careful enough, especially those with status effect like sleep and poison.

Well, my first was Pokémon Red. Though I actually started with Pokémon trading cards before that but lost the entire deck because of flood back in 2006.

Her team I don't know, what I know is how she's going to train Poiking.

Grab it by the tail, use him to smack other pokemon.

By all means, it's Poiking the one dealing the finishing blow. :V

(And I wish I could train my Magikarps that way.) :V

Hmm, too early to tell. Wonder if she'll be going by the six at a time limit the games have or just however many Amancai feels like.

True, it is too early to tell. But that's the magic of speculation.

Sorry for the subject change, what might happen if Abyssals show up? Not that I'm expecting them, but I remember a few Kantai Collection crossover fanfics where Abyssals entered the other world with the shipgirls.

Honestly speaking if that happens, I'll probably take the crack side of things to keep the tone light. Hm.... maybe Hoppo jumps universe just to get away from Nagamon and surprise surprise, runs into Poi. Thus begins the adventure of HopPoi duo making their name in the Indigo League.:p

Well, could be worse. Those rockets might have thought that she's the missing no and tossed a pokeball only for her hand to crush it.

Also I only see 4 posts yet the last is written as part 5.

I'm blaming those worm fics that I've been reading on this site but the fight scene is too clean (like I said, blame worm) For a second I thought that she'll grab the vine, pull it, and crush bellsprout. On the machop side of the story she could just take it like a champ (aka not even bother trying to defend herself) and for her punch to go through the pokemon. Why? Like you said, 42k horse power. A subsonic, submachine gun bullet might have the same strength as a 300 horsepower (NOT SURE HERE, just trying to make a point) in an instant. now imagine having 42k all the time in a body of a thin girl. Which means that if she had gone toe to toe with a gyarados with body slam ....

Well, just imagine butterflies.

Which means that you seriously nerfed the girl. Which is understandable and I agree with you.

That is because part 2 and 3 is in a same post, separated by a simple section break. I intend to have each part is about 500 words so I'm not going to stress myself trying to come up with 1k+ words update.

I still think you nerfed her heavily. Despite saying that you didn't.
Huh... Maybe, but I don't think I stated anywhere that Yuudachi has to fight all out to win (if I did, that's my mistake). And clean strikes from Machop's Karate Chop will leave her with bruises, but not broken/cracked bones. She's a ship, and flesh bag as well.

Just don't expect any gore because I'm not big on that kind of stuff, especially when I don't want to turn this into serious kind of fic.
