Pink Release: a Sakura Quest

Wouldn't surprise me, Naruto's people are odd in so many ways...

More likely, it's just some more example of Kishimoto not doing his math - I can imagine a couple dozen reasons why a careless writer would go with what they felt were "appropriate" weight and height measurement for women by popular culture standard, without realizing what the unavoidable results of following such "common wisdom" would be.

It's especially odd since Sakura trained heavily in real physical combat, unlike the kind of models that would fit those measurements.

In any case, you people better have Chibi-chan eat healthily this time around, or there'll be wailing, and gnashing of teeth, and lots of meteor jutsu.

I usually just tend to consider humans in Naruto to be a different brand of Homo Sapiens. I mean, 'prodigies' they have? Speed of development? Things like becoming frickin' full-bloded and mature killer as 8?!?

I know 8 years old kids. And certain things are simply not possible, no matter how intelligent kid is. No matter how much of 'prodigy' he is. Simply no can do.

Hence, Naturo verse humans are not human. They are special brand of 'humanity', complete with its own biology. With different biological and mental development rules, and diverging emotional capabilities.

leaf exercise, read more books, leaping and running

Your legendary hide-and-seek victory over the Inuzuka, Akimichi, and Nara heirs is the talk of the whole village for years and years! Or maybe the talk of the playground for a few months? Ok, ok, so only you and Hinata really talk about it after the first week but still, you beat three clan heirs in something ninja-related! This is the first real, solid, undeniable confirmation that all the dream-visions you get are real, or at least real enough to teach you how to be the most awesome shinobi ever!

Speaking about the Hyuga heir, you and Hinata are meeting in the playground regularly now. You manage to coax the younger, quite timid girl out of her shell by being friendly, persistent, and using what you gleaned from dreams of a blonde girl and a time when you were -or would have been?- just as timid and closed up as Hinata. Ka-chan and Tou-san are ecstatic to see you playing with your new friend, and you're no less satisfied with this turn of events; the tiniest Hyuga is so cute!

That said, you can't let Chibi-Hyuga distract you from your super-awesome, super-secret ninja training for too long. From talking with her - and she's fairly smart once that stutter is out of the way - you know that clan kids start some sort of training after their third birthday. You can't fall behind! The following weeks you secretly gather leaves during your time in the playground so you can better practice the leaf exercise with more and more of them. Five leaves, ten leaves, twenty leaves... when you finally manage to stick a leaf into pretty much every part of your body until you look less Sakura than you do shrub, you think you've mastered that level of the exercise. Which only means you'll continue on the next... once you clear the green mess you've made of your room; you can't let Ka-chan find it like that!

Total ultimate mastery of all chakra is only one side of a shinobi's abilities though, so physical exercise must also be part of your super-secret training. Because it's secret though, you aren't sure how to practice real fighting in the house. You decide to limit yourself to loads of running, jumping, climbing, and hanging upside-down from random pieces of furniture. Your parents are happy to play with you, if a bit exasperated at your seemingly boundless energy - especially when your footprints somehow end on the ceiling one day. You don't quite get how they can speak of 'boundless energy' though; you'd assure them your super-awesome training is really tiring if you didn't want them to react badly, as parents usually do. It's not as if you exercise that much; most of it happens in your dreams, which is both boring and surprisingly tiring. You wake up feeling as if you had barely slept at all!

Most of your time during the day is spent reading books. Lots and lots of them. And since you are totally more grown up than most people think, you try reading some books that don't have pictures in them. Somehow, you find that you love them even better than picture books. Silly baby books just give you some pictures, but real books help you make far more pictures in your thoughts at every page you read.
At the same time, you always keep a leaf in your hand. When Ka-chan or Tou-san aren't looking, you try to make the leaf spin and dance while you read. Strangely enough, while you can stick a leaf just about anywhere - enormous forehead included - you find that making the leaf dance is almost impossible anywhere except your hands. You do manage it with enough effort, but it leaves you feeling as drained as an hour's worth of jumping around. Curious to see what happens, you put the same amount of effort when it is in your hand, expecting the leaf to explode (which had happened often enough when you first tried the leaf exercise). Instead of going boom though, the leaf flies! Well no, it doesn't really fly, but you can make it hover about a foot above your palm. As you do, you can see a really faint, hair-thin, bluish string between your palm and the dancing leaf and by mentally tugging at it, you can make the leaf do tricks. The knowledge of what that is strikes you with the force of a powerful vision, one where an older you is fighting dozens of dolls. Not tiny, fluffy, cute dolls but big, ugly ones of wood and metal, dolls made to fight you via strings of chakra. A chakra string! That's what the faint filament is, and you'd just made your first one. In your excitement, the vision with the ugly dolls is forgotten.

It is several months later, when the air is hot and heavy with humidity, torrential rains strike the forest daily only for a blazing sun to burn through the clouds in an hour or two, that your visions change. They must be influenced by your new friendship with the Hyuga heiress, for every single one of them is about her. You're a bit sad to find that you aren't good friends in your visions until the two of you are much older - did you do something wrong to befriend her? No, this can't be; you're happy being friends with her! The visions must be trying to show you something else. Trying to think about Hinata every night before going to bed slowly changes the visions so they show your interactions when you're older, and really good friends apparently. You learn of Hinata's baby sister who... hasn't been born yet? You aren't sure. You're very weirded out, both in reality and in the dream, to hear she gets married to the Hokage. Isn't the Hokage, like, a bazillion years old? And finally you learn the information all those visions must have been trying to warn you about.

Hinata will be getting kidnapped on her third birthday! That's in only a few months! Even worse, the bad guys mostly get away with it and your friend's uncle has to die for her dad to live! That's... that's horrible! You immediately decide to do something about it. The bad guys won't get away with it!

Hinata will be kidnapped in five months and you have decided to stop it. How do you plan to do that?
[] Use your super-awesome ninja skills to fight off the kidnapper... or at least stab him in the back when he isn't looking. (1)
[] Keep track of Hinata and the bad guys that day and warn people of the kidnapping early. (1)
[] Write a super-secret message to the Hokage about the kidnapping plot. He's Hinata's future husband so he should know what to do! (1)
[] Somehow get Hinata to hide or otherwise avoid the kidnappers that day. Maybe even kidnap her into a sleepover yourself before they can take her! (1)
[] Write in. (1)

You only got five months to prepare for saving Hinata! Time to get serious training done!
[] Use your chakra more so it grows. Maybe try to learn some jutsu from your visions to surprise the bad guys, too. (Spirit, combat ninjutsu, 2)
[] Start exercising to get tougher and punch hard! Can't save Hinata if you're too weak. (Vitality, taijutsu, 2)
[] However strong the ninja, a kunai in the back will seriously cramp his style. And they won't expect a kid to throw it! (Agility, bukijutsu, 2)
[] Knowing where Hinata and the bad guys are can be a great advantage to all possible plans. (Control, sensing, 2)
[] Making images and sounds is great, from hiding Hinata to raising alarms. (Spirit, genjutsu, 2)
[] Write in (must directly help save Hinata, 2)

You're smarter now, both reading faster and being able to think while occupied or distracted. How does that help?
[] Try to remember some of the easier medical stuff from your visions. Some are nasty enough to use on the bad guy, maybe? (medicine, craft poison, 3)
[] Exercise writing and speaking like an adult. Any secret warning letters won't be taken seriously if you sound like a child. (language, diplomacy, 3)
[] You saw how to make letters that explode in your visions. You can write well enough to try it for real, you think. (language, exploding seals, 3)

You've gotten good enough to use chakra control quickly and reliably, and for it to be interesting. What do you practice?
[] The tree-walking exercise, except without trees. Scaling walls might be useful in getting to or evacuating Hinata. (4)
[] Chakra Strings. They're very useful, even if just to trip enemies subtly. (4)
[] Putting lots of chakra into a leaf makes it explode. Learning to apply it to bigger things might be helpful. (4)
[] Chakra concealment. Really helpful in sneaking close to or away from kidnappers. (4)
[] Chakra sensing. You need to be able to find Hinata from a long distance. (4)

Things like becoming frickin' full-bloded and mature killer as 8?!?
Killer at 8 is possible - happens in real life too. Mature? Not so much.

certain things are simply not possible, no matter how intelligent kid is.
Von Neumann could do 8-digit divisions and converse in ancient Greek at age 6. Michael Kearney graduated from university at age 10.

They are special brand of 'humanity', complete with its own biology.
On the biology part, I agree. They simply seem to have no physical upper limit, considering Rock Lee wore weights that weighed many tons all day long at age 14. The whole chakra system is basically an alien mutation in any case.

[X] Somehow get Hinata to hide or otherwise avoid the kidnappers that day. Maybe even kidnap her into a sleepover yourself before they can take her! (1)
1. Fighting off the kidnapper leads to death.
2. How can we warn about a kidnapping when we're not supposed to know anything about?
3. Sending a letter about the kidnapping? That T&I cell looks great.
4. Slumber parties are clearly the best decision.

[X] Start exercising to get tougher and punch hard! Can't save Hinata if you're too weak. (Vitality, taijutsu, 2)

Mostly suicide I think.

Possibility of averting some canon events, she still gets kidnapped, but if they can be intercepted early

[] Write a super-secret message to the Hokage about the kidnapping plot. He's Hinata's future husband so he should know what to do! (1)

Unlikely to work, and if it does our future memories will get a lot of scrutiny.

[] Somehow get Hinata to hide or otherwise avoid the kidnappers that day. Maybe even kidnap her into a sleepover yourself before they can take her! (1)

Endangers ourselves, though we might change the schedule of the kidnapping if we manage to get her to hide somewhere more secure, they COULD wait until she's outside or try anyway, barring being in the Hyuuga compound itself.

Know where she is. Be able to communicate that she is being taken effectively.
We're going to be a powerful enough Sensor that we can stalk her from across the village.

It's not as if you exercise that much; most of it happens in your dreams, which is both boring and surprisingly tiring. You wake up feeling as if you had barely slept at all!

That's... interesting. I wonder if there's something more going on than just memories of a life unlived in those dreams?

Also, I assume you've numbered the options to keep track of which one wins in each section. The usual way of doing that (that works with the Tally's Task voting) is to format the options like so:

[] [KNITTING] Blah blah 1
[] [KNITTING] Blah blah 2

[] [NOT KNITTING] Blah blah 1
[] [NOT KNITTING] Blah blah 2

Obviously we need to get Hinata over to our place (or get ourselves invited to her place) and enact Home Alone: Ninja Edition.

If they never get their hands on Hinata, they might not be so gung ho to kill the guy, which was the problem in the end, remember. Without him alive to interrogate, it was he-said she-said about his intentions. If he's alive, after the inevitable attempt, we can easily pin the whole thing on him and his village.

[X] Somehow get Hinata to hide or otherwise avoid the kidnappers that day. Maybe even kidnap her into a sleepover yourself before they can take her! (1)

this is the best choice I guess

By the way, let's go the genjutsu route instead of the sensing route.

I rather be not get his hands on Hinata in the first place.

Remember, Hina was found the first go around in mint condition. The issue was that they let emotions get the best of them and killed the guy.

You guys, I swear.

The Hyūga Affair (日向の件, Hyūga no Ken) — as the incident is known nowadays in Kumogakure — happened nine years prior to the start of the series, while Kumogakure and Konohagakure were at war. In an attempt to put an end to the fighting, they agreed to a peace treaty to be signed on the date which coincided with Hinata Hyūga's third birthday. The treaty was soon revealed to might be nothing more than a cover when the person who was the Head Ninja of Kumogakure at the time — who was in Konoha to sign the treaty — attempted to kidnap Hinata in order to obtain the Byakugan and its secrets. The shinobi was killed in his attempt by Hinata's father, Hiashi Hyūga.[1]
Kumogakure denied all accusations of the kidnapping, and demanded the body of Hiashi as compensation for the death of their Head Ninja as per the stipulations of the treaty. Hizashi Hyūga decided to go in his brother's place as they were twins and Kumogakure would not be able to tell the difference. This had another advantage, besides saving the life of the head of the clan; Hizashi's cursed seal would seal his Byakugan upon his death, safeguarding its secrets. Despite Hiashi's protest and their father's behest, Hizashi chose on his own to do this, not only for the clan and village, but for his brother.

Basically, with all of this fresh, even with the sleep over, the Hyuga are gonna have someone watching us because she's a clan heir. We don't need to do any chakra sensing, we'll have Hyuga eyes for that. We don't need to work on attack techniques, because engaging in a fight with this guy at our age ends either in our death or his. Either he'll kill us because he's an asshole or we'll do well enough that he kills us out of pride. We're gonna gonna get strong enough in five months. Going the poison route is eh, because there is still too much room for him to end up dead. We don't want to go sensing because we don't want this guy to get his hands on her in the first place. Genjutsu.

With all of what fresh? That's the very attack we're trying to derail! Clearly the Hyuuga eyes fail!

As for my vote:
[X] Somehow get Hinata to hide or otherwise avoid the kidnappers that day. Maybe even kidnap her into a sleepover yourself before they can take her! (1)
I just think that sneaking in to try and have an impromptu sleepover will either get her out of there if we succeed, or if we fail it'll be because the Hyuuga catch us - in which case, the alarm's been raised and there's a hullabaloo already.

[X] Knowing where Hinata and the bad guys are can be a great advantage to all possible plans. (Control, sensing, 2)
It's a training stat - Vitatlity would have been my first choice, except it's pretty useless for this exact scenario.

[X] You saw how to make letters that explode in your visions. You can write well enough to try it for real, you think. (language, exploding seals, 3)
Fuuinjutsu hype! Seal of 100 here we come! Also, I don't really want to be a medic - we can get Tsunade's strength techniques from our dreams, and I don't care about actual medicine.

[X] The tree-walking exercise, except without trees. Scaling walls might be useful in getting to or evacuating Hinata. (4)
How do we sneak in without wall-walking? Getting caught by the Hyuuga is fine, but not getting in at all is useless.
