It gets more when you realize that runes- language can be reproduced in non-visual mediums too. I recall a hedge witch who was all about baking runes into pies with phenomenal cosmic power. The pies, not the witch. Pies to make acne clear up, pies to help you in love, pies to destroy demons- pies to open gateways to other realities, PIES TO IMMANETIZE THE ESCHATON.
Not really. I doubt the exaltations get too excited about a awakened mage doing mage things he knows he can do. Step up the game and he might get something in the great creation lottery.

So, been going back through and changing things accordingly with the return to canon "Ruling Arcana don't cost Mana" as well as touching up bits, the only really relevant thing changed being this:
Chapter 1 said:
Mentally, I set out the tools I had available even as I set Prometheus in my lap. None of my actual physical equipment was helpful here. Smart phone, smart watch, pocket watch, pocket square / handkerchief, bandages, some basic medicines, my wrench multitool, and Prometheus itself. My dedicated Magus tool was a terrifyingly complicated lighter-multitool, having a good LED light, combination electric / fuel based lighter, tape measure, level, fold-out soldering iron, and a little fold-out screwdriver, with a couple different bit heads slotted into her... all of my equipment enchanted to the limits of my skill with the Matter Arcanum... and not a one of them was useful here.
No paddles, and I didn't have a map so my compass was worth fuck all. I wasn't a master of any of the ten Arcanum. I was a Fourth Degree Adept, but three of those four were the Arcana of Life, Death, and the Mind. Which was about as useful as… well… nothing here. Matter was already proving useful. I was a Disciple of Forces, and an Apprentice of Fate, Prime, and Time. But when it came to Space and Spirit I didn't have a damn inkling, wasn't even an initiate.
This does bring up something. While Prometheus is Kenobi's dedicated magus tool, his wrench multitool is basically its pair. It needs a name honestly, but I'm struggling to come up with an appropriately mythic-stolen name like Prometheus. It should be a tool-based deity, or some other being with a legend like Prometheus, as it's the pair to that tool. Either that or Prometheus needs a rename and both of them get paired names. I'm not sure atm, and I don't really have the time to do the research Kenobi would have put into the naming (As they're significant and would influence the magic he does with them). Thoughts?
Additionally:
I've sketched out the other worlds on the docket. After Exalted, they're going to be selected randomly. We're going to be in Exalted for a good while though (Probably longer than most other series on this list), so this is all a far ways off and obviously very subject to change, but spoilers ahead!
In no particular order:
Mass Effect Main Issue: Even 'subtle' spells cost mana. And there's no places of power to draw mana from. The only way he has to get mana is through scouring himself, burning his body for the energies. Basic Plan: Ends up on the Citadel and quickly realizes that he's got to be exceedingly sparing with his magic. He has a pretty good idea where to find the God Machine's control components to smash, the trouble is getting there when any spells outside of his own body are extremely vulgar. The world reacts with vicious harshness against anything resembling 'magic'. He has to be particularly subtle here, no matter how much power he's accumulated up to this point. Shinies!: Eezo! Between his Life and Matter Arcanum's, he's able to become a biotic. It's also a large upgrade to his tech stuff just in sheer processing power even before he enchants them.
Dark Souls Main Issue: He can only regain mana from Bonfires, and he's not entirely sure wtf the actual control aspect of the God Machine is here. Not to mention the tangled space-time fuckery that goes on, made even worse by the God Machine. Basic Plan: Wakes up in a cell, and walks right out. Cue needing to deal with the world and trying to make out what's the work of the God Machine and what's just the world being a hellhole. Try and at least save it a little. Shinies!: Soul Infusion. Spell Catalysts. The Great Souls.
Nasuverse Main Issue: The world's soul(s) don't like him. He has to spend energy to even exist here like a Servant would. He can only regain energies from places of power or stealing it from others. No clue what the control mechanism of the God Machine is, even if the Holy Grail War is one of its major rituals. Basic Plan: Arrives through a baffled summoning. Has to pretend to be a normal mage and try and work his way through the crapsack world, figuring out what's just mages being dipshits / the world being crapsack and what's actually aspects of the God Machine. Ends up being an Enforcer for Clocktower for the purposes of interacting with more of the mystical of the world. Partners with Bazette basically by accident "The Suit Duo! Hah!" -gets punched-. Interferes with the fifth Holy Grail War. Goes on after it to figure out wtf the God Machine's control structure is in this world. Shinies!: Magic Circuits! Some conceptual things
Warhammer 40k Main Issue: The Warp makes his spells unstable. It's Warhammer 40k. The number of places the God Machine could be hiding are ridiculous. Basic Plan: Warp Anomaly. Arrives on a Hive World. Uses his magics and skills to slowly build up enough of a power base to join up with a Rogue Trader, and then become one himself. Figures out where the God Machine's primary control structure resides, then struggles to get the power base sufficient to get access to it while trying to keep the Imperium from imploding. Shinies!: Tech Upgrades. Biological Upgrades (Life Arcanum says Yoink!). Eventually gets a handle on Psyker powers, mostly in the sense of filtering his magic in such a way to use it consistently.
Star Wars Main Issue: Weird interactions with magic. So much space to search. The God Machine is fucking ready for him. Basic Plan: Arrives just before the... prequels...? But they're not the prequels he knows? Crap. Crap crap crap. The God Machine actively hounds him here, both with its 'Angels' and its cultists. It's also actively trying to end the good things like the Skywalker twins, Han Solo, etc. And doesn't do shittily at it. Fuck. Shinies!: Lightsaber! Various tech upgrades. New form of drawing in energy / using it emulating the Force.
Bioshock Main Issue: The God Machine only extends into the first part of the reality that he first appears in. The problem is that it's using Bioshock Infinite, not just Bioshock. Basic Plan: Arrives in the first game following the protagonist. Problem is, despite going through the whole place and summarily tearing the God Machine to itty bitty pieces, he hasn't found any control mechanisms... then a Tear opens. Fuck. He needs to find which of the "infinite" (not truly so but functionally so) realities the God Machine is using in this contained multiverse to control things. Shinies!: Plasmids! Tonics! Companion Get!
Baldur's Gate Main Issue: Okay, wtf, is the control mechanism of the God Machine? It's what? ... oh... that... that might actually be a bit harder than Exalted given that some of the gods are outright hostile to him. Basic Plan: Summoned through a Summon Familiar spell by the protagonist of the Baldur's Gate games. ("... I'm not sure how to feel about this.") Follows after the protag and tries to figure out things without leaving the poor kid on their own against the world. His magic is outright opposed by some divinities though, so he's limited in what he can do. Shinies!: Local wizarding magic. How to make potions! Divinity!
Elder Scrolls Main Issue: Figuring out what the control structure of the God Machine is. Then how to get there. Basic Plan: Appears in the time of Skyrim... in the basement of the Imperial Tower. ... crap. Gets out and travels Tamriel searching for the aspects of the God Machine. Ends up finding and teaming up with the Dragonborn in order to get to (and smash) the God Machine's control structure. Shinies!: Local Magics! Mostly useful in the small scale stuff they can do / enable.
Mahou Sensei Negima Main Issue: Okay, pretty sure what the God-Machine is. Problem is the power scale. It's the Exalted problem again. He has to advise, not get into a slugging match. Basic Plan: Arrives at the magical gate on the mundane world side. Ends up having to figure out where he is. Ends up mentoring Negi. Follows through the manga story, helping out where he can while rushing out occasionally to smash bits of the God Machine that he sniffs out. Shinies!: ... honestly, not much. It's a matter of scale, not skill.
Xcom Main Issue: Magic is Vulgar, like in Mass Effect. It's hard to use. He's tough, but not supernaturally so and not to the point of tanking aliens. He has to figure out how to join up with Xcom. Once he figures out what the God Machine's control aspect is, he has to struggle with how to handle it without risking the world or just outright killing himself. Basic Plan: Arrives? Normal world? Oh... no. Actually aliens! Has to figure out how to join up with Xcom, as they're at the center of things. Xcom gets overwhelmed and loses. He has to struggle with getting things ready and is roped into the second game. Shinies!: Gene Mods! Elerium!
Kill La Kill Main Issue: Vulgarity of magics and scale. Pretty sure what the God Machine is, but how to get access to it and how to actually damage the damn thing...? Basic Plan: Arrives in the middle of nowhere, doesn't know where he is. Solves small mysteries and stumbles on Life Fiber clothing. Deliberately gets hired by Satsuki. Joins Nudist Beach. Teaches her and Ryuuko as best he can. Has to advise rather than kick ass. Shinies!: NUUUDIST BEEEAAAACHUU POOOOOOSE! Also Life Fibers.
Sailor Moon Main Issue: Scale more than anything else and getting access to the damn thing. Basic Plan: WHY THE FUCK AM I A CAT?! ... fuck. Mentorship is the way to go. Shinies!: ... um... a transformation sequence?
One Piece Main Issue: Scale and getting access to the damn God Machine's control mechanism. Basic Plan: Arrive, struggle to figure out what the God Machine's mechanism is, and then how to get to it without getting squished. Shinies!: Devil Fruit! Woo!
Naruto Main Issue: Scale. Scale. Scale. Also, scale. And figuring out how to confirm wtf is the God Machine's control mechanism. Basic Plan: He has to be a villain, not a hero, in order to accomplish his goal. Shinies!: Some aspects of ninjitsu are surprisingly helpful once he figures them out.
Dresden Files Main Issue: He's an Outsider and a signficant portion of the setting is hostile towards him upon discovering this. Basic Plan: Arrives through the Outer Gates and has to not be squished by Mab upon arrival. Ends up having to rope Dresden into his plans due to not having the correct metaphysical makeup to smash the God Machine here. Shinies!: A way to compress the bonuses of a Yantra into a single aspect, so one item counts as a dozen improvements without counting as separate Yantra. This is actually a very large boost.
Dragon Age Main Issue: Dealing with his magic working weird. The Fade is a weird combination of Supernal and Abyss and messes with his magic. Basic Plan: Falls through the Fade Rift and works with the Inquisitor to make things happen. Shinies!: Lyrium. Fade Magic
Full Metal Alchemist Main Issue: Getting access to the God Machine. Basic Plan: Has to be a villain. Shinies!: Achemy has its uses to supplement his magic.
My Little Pony Main Issue: Take a guess what the God Machine is. It's not fun. Basic Plan: "... I am now a pony. This is going to suck." Shinies!: None.
There are other settings that I'd like to include, but don't have a decent idea how to do it for a variety of reasons:
Mistborn: Need to get the time to read the series and formulate a plan.
Shadowrun: Need a solid storyline to hook up to.
Cthulutech: As above.

Well hopefully you won't jump off the Keychain 'verse too fast.
-rereads comic, hits a particular page, double checks what's said-
OK, apparently in Keychain canon, Secret is a fan of Caramelldansen.

Hermes, keeping in the Greek mythos is, among other things, the god of Thieves. Coyote in several Indian mythos stole quite a number of things. I think in one, Chipmunk stole fire...
Naruto, use jutsus for multiple things, ride around on a dragon jutsu instead of walking, learn the whole spiderman thing, maybe the underground movement jutsus, Kill la Kill, befriend your life fiber and use it to your advantage, perhaps use it to get extra limbs? learn the jetpack mode, and maybe infuse yourself safely so that you have the healing? One piece, find a way around not being able to swim, maybe find a way to remove that weakness before eating? maybe find a way to kill Doffy, and steal his string theory fruit? Nasuverse, find a way to get virmana if possible, find a way to make your own an d travel in style! oh, and Gae bolg...and other homing weapons (find a way to modify one? make it so that it takes you with it, so that you can 'aim" at a destination and travel there when you throw?), bro fist Iskander? MLP, there are totally shinies there.....like chaos magic, finding out how to do the changelings thing (love/affection into either magic or sustenance, possible shapeshifting? (talking changeling called thorax in next episode)
and how about Soul eater or wakfu? either a weapon form or gaining powers by following easy simple steps that deities give (although in season 3 something is up with them), the steps arent even that bad for most of them...here are two which might come in handy
Eniripsa
Eniripsa's disciples must adhere to the following commandments:
Thou shalt take care to heal all ills.
Thou shalt not get wound up if someone ribs thee.
Thou shalt look after nature.
Thou shalt keep fit by doing lots of exercise.
Thou shalt explain to those ignorant in the art of plant-based medicine that it is not just limited to lavender bath oil.
Thou shalt always know the right words to fix a broken heart.
Thou shalt encourage novides to fly with their own wings.
Thou shalt have plenty of patients.
Thou shalt satisfy thy curiosity without killing the cat.
Thou shalt wash thy hands before coming to the operating table.
If thou dost not follow these commandments, thou shalt be forced to wear a gag and mittens as a sign of penitence.
Praise be to Eniripsa, the goddess with transluscent wings!
With one hand on their hearts and the other cupped like a megaphone, Eniripsas base their magic on words which can heal or hurt according to their needs. Needless to say, when they open their mouths, everyone listens carefully... Eniripsas have long been renowned for their incredible healing powers. No matter what ailments their allies are suffering from, they always know the magic word to make things better. As for enemies, suffice it to say that they'd better not get on the wrong side of an Eniripsa's sharp tongue…
if you follow most of the rules, you may get wings
, and Pandawa
Pandawa's disciples must adhere to the following commandments:
Thou shalt not attack thy neighbour when he's drinking his pint through a straw. It may end up in his eye.
Thou shalt clear the air with thy fan.
Thou shalt be able to hold both thine alcohol and the bar during summer festivals.
Thou shalt avoid being hungover before, during and after a night out.
Thou shalt not spill the divine plonk, since the foam stains and has a tendency to sting.
Thou shalt avoid mixing alcohols which are not from the same barrel.
Thou shalt not drive nor use any heavy machinery when drunk.
Thou shalt not give thy friends a lift if thou hast had too much to drink.
Thou shalt greet any uninvited party guests in the traditional manner by asking, "Hey, do I know you?"
Thou shalt ensure thou art not surprised when thou yeast expect it.
If thou dost not follow these commandments, thou must drink ten pints of pure water as a sign of penitence.
Praise be to Pandawa, the adequate goddess!
Always willing to lend a hand and put in a little elbow grease, Pandawas are strong and nimble carriers… whether it's to bring over a fresh tray of drinks or to lift up an enemy and send them flying! One thing's for sure - spend some time with a Pandawa, and you'll soon be seeing stars…
The eternally thirsty goddess Pandawa made her disciples in her image, and they can really knock one back! They master the art of emptying a beer mug, a tankard or a pint glass perfectly, and it does them good! Once it reaches the drunken state, a Pandawa can go wild and do anything with his body! He can even do anything with others' bodies, both good and bad. It all depends on whose side you're on...
Pandawas are much appreciated for their unusual martial arts techniques. Although they seem to be drunk, they can get one over on you, one moment escaping like water running through stones, the next smashing skulls like a brute! Handy with axes, and gifted with an unfailing sense of humour, they take every chance they can get to fight, even if it's just for a laugh. Those who persevere in the martial arts path become great masters and people travel from far-off lands to learn their teachings.
if you follow most of the teachings, you may turn into a panda. well, a human with panda coloration and head.
You have all those awesome ideas here, and I can only think about a Big Daddy companion from Bioshock, who decided the MC is his Little Sister.
It's a really... interesting picture.
You're going to be a villain... in the Narutoverse. A corrupted Narutoverse where there'll probably be less Therapy no Jutsu and more actually being sensible and killing the other guy so he can't pull something out of his arse when they turn their backs.
Do you have a fucking death wish?!

So, been going back through and changing things accordingly with the return to canon "Ruling Arcana don't cost Mana" as well as touching up bits, the only really relevant thing changed being this:
This does bring up something. While Prometheus is Kenobi's dedicated magus tool, his wrench multitool is basically its pair. It needs a name honestly, but I'm struggling to come up with an appropriately mythic-stolen name like Prometheus. It should be a tool-based deity, or some other being with a legend like Prometheus, as it's the pair to that tool. Either that or Prometheus needs a rename and both of them get paired names. I'm not sure atm, and I don't really have the time to do the research Kenobi would have put into the naming (As they're significant and would influence the magic he does with them). Thoughts?
Ridill is a sword from Norse mythology, which was used to cut out the heart of the Dragon Fafnir in order to eat it and consume it's knowledge and power. Seems appropriate.
Additionally:
I've sketched out the other worlds on the docket. After Exalted, they're going to be selected randomly. We're going to be in Exalted for a good while though (Probably longer than most other series on this list), so this is all a far ways off and obviously very subject to change, but spoilers ahead!
Note: Only talking about the ones I know anything about.
Well, he could always diablerize his enemies for tass- err, for mana. Anyways in general one shiny might be an omnitool. With the right upgrades, it can fabricate medigel and other useful shit. Also would make a good backup weapon.
I think the God Machine's corruption would probably be a source of corrupted counter-guardians replacing some of the regular servants. This could give you the opportunity to explore some of the alternate concept that Fate alt timelines have. Potentially it could have inserted itself as a middleman between Gaea and the Akashic Records, adding information from other universes into the Records, and in turn corrupting the Summon Servant spell to an extent. It would be a good way to have past enemies of Kenobi show up.
The God Machine would probably be either in the Webway or have inserted itself somewhere (depending on edition) in the Necrontyr history- particularly the 'sterilize the warp' shit they were working on, since the warp would probably be actually a huge threat to it.
Which canon are you using? Original EU had the existence of an 'anti-force' in another dimension (The Crystal Star, IIRC). Might give you some ideas. Alternatively, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, aka one of the first EU books ever, dealt with a solidified crystal of Force and the influence it had on people. Could be a potential upgrade.
As for the God Machine, I think that if it's ready for him, it probably showed up during the old old republic (ie: KOTOR) era and has been subltly manipulating things. In particular what you might do is have Kenobi bounce off a ward when he first arrives, get thrown out of control- and that's why he shows up before the 'prequels', rather in the KOTOR era.
It's probably in one of the shadow universes adjacent to the main one.
Elerium!
Well it depends on his paradigm. yeah, I know, nMage, but the universe should care how he's applying his magic, and if he hits this after 40k or Star Wars he might be in a better position for it.
Also Life Fibers.
topkek.
Sailor Moon Main Issue: Scale more than anything else and getting access to the damn thing. Basic Plan: WHY THE FUCK AM I A CAT?! ... fuck. Mentorship is the way to go. Shinies!: ... um... a transformation sequence?
The cats can transform and have proportional cat-like strength in their human forms. So, you know...
One Piece Main Issue: Scale and getting access to the damn God Machine's control mechanism. Basic Plan: Arrive, struggle to figure out what the God Machine's mechanism is, and then how to get to it without getting squished. Shinies!: Devil Fruit! Woo!
Lots of timeskips. One Piece is too goddamn huge otherwise.
Moon.
He's not an Outsider. He traveled through Outside to get here, but he's actually from another corporeal universe. Outsiders are like, shoggoths and shit. But getting people to recognize the difference would be the key factor.
Full Metal Alchemist Main Issue: Getting access to the God Machine. Basic Plan: Has to be a villain. Shinies!: Achemy has its uses to supplement his magic.
Also a very real chance of God eating your face.
My Little Pony Main Issue: Take a guess what the God Machine is. It's not fun. Basic Plan: "... I am now a pony. This is going to suck." Shinies!: None.
Are you kidding? There's lots of shinies, from relics of G1, to magic fruit, to magical animal companions (timberwolves!), to things like comic books you can go into and live the story of (and somehow remove things from within). Shitloads upon shitloads of useful magic lore and an entire benign society of magic users to interact with and learn from.
There are other settings that I'd like to include, but don't have a decent idea how to do it for a variety of reasons:
Mistborn: Need to get the time to read the series and formulate a plan.
The original trilogy is pretty easy to fuck up, but there's a sequel quadrilogy that's really solid, set in an age of steam era that might be much more to your suiting. Alloy of Law and its sequels are right in a place where there's enough room to the setting to do interesting things that doesn't totally ruin everything forever. Alternatively, if you're floating around the original era (or I guess you could find it), there's the metal that turns you into a full spectrum Mistborn. So that'd be your shiny.
You're going to be a villain... in the Narutoverse. A corrupted Narutoverse where there'll probably be less Therapy no Jutsu and more actually being sensible and killing the other guy so he can't pull something out of his arse when they turn their backs.
Nothing stops him from being Affably Evil Villain. Silly. But to control the Biju he would have to ramp up his Spirit Arcanum big time.
EDIT: I also discourage Ctchulhutech ... your SI will be unprenared that magic breaks your own mind. And can have horrible consequences. Plus locals will assume he's evil Cthulhu cultist if he won't have real magician license.
And shoot him. Then shot again, burn the body and seal the ashes so even soul doesn't escape to his infernal masters. Cthulhutech is a war setting where humans still are losing despite having Mechs, Magic and Psionics. And they keep losing against ... 3 to 4 world ending threats.
And Nyarlathotep plaing Pokemon/Guvyer with itself.
PMMM could be interesting. After all, there is already a perfect candidate for the Godmachine in the superwitch Walpurgisnacht.
She will turn all of fate's misfortune to nothing.
She will flood the earth with magic,
and take all of humankind into her play.
A moving stage construction.
If everything is a play, no unhappy things will exist.
It may be a tragedy, but it'll all be part of the script.
The play stops on Walpurgisnacht,
and the earth does not turn even once more.
The story will not change.
Tomorrow, and the day after, is the night of Walpurgis
Depends how much the God Machine likes shonen tropes, I suppose. In a darker/more realistic Narutoverse, affability wouldn't do much in the face of being a threat to the Hidden Villages. You'd still get anything from a Chunin team to ANBU Black Ops after you depending on your threat level. Maybe they'd regret having to kill you if you were a nice guy, but they'd still do it. Something something Will of Fire something propaganda and indoctrination something.
Ridill is a sword from Norse mythology, which was used to cut out the heart of the Dragon Fafnir in order to eat it and consume it's knowledge and power. Seems appropriate.

... huh... past enemies of his showing up... that could be interesting actually. I did not consider that one, though everything else was already on the docket.

More seriously, while I know where the God Machine's control structure is, I'm not saying yet as it's one of the major questions of this arc / world. Just because there are so many good options.

Well, yeah? Biotics and plasmids, if he has them, would work just fine. But no matter what, he doesn't have the raw power to just stop the alien menace.

I know. And he's an Adept of Life even now, he can shapeshift just fine. The problem is more that that's his default form while here, which limits what he can do. Less epic-magic-kung-fu to the FACE and more advising / subtlety.

Really? How much of that aren't things he can already do or can take with him between realities?

Um... Gnosis is literally knowledge man was not meant to know. And one of his Ruling Arcanum is Mind. So... yes, he actually is actually prepared for magic that breaks his own mind.
Also, Cthulu and the such, after Exalted feel like cuddly kittens. But yeah, the setting can be pretty harsh, it's just that there's so many... shinies... that...
Hrm.

Not really? In Exalted there is little that you can't just punch and punch, and punch. Then kick for a variety. If you are and Exalt or cheat. Like proper mage.
In Cthulhutech yes, shinies are plentiful. Arcanotech is so good that even Twitlights from Exalted would salivate. Sanity can be healed with Medicine check anyway.:lol
And is for the weak.
I have IDEA!
for you to survive Cthulhutech after wisiting Exalted. Go to Nova and ask her to be your Pokemon. Promise seeing the Multiverse, meeting interesting people. And SCIENCE!
If you also teach her your brand of sorcery? Inquiring about how to turn yourself into Alchemical Exalt, or gain a Gundam, might be advisable.
Or just plainly rob Exalted of all the shinies. Like Five Metal Shrike, wich have self-regenerating Magic Materials and Reality Engines. And, most importantly Protoshinmaic Vortex.
