    Ah, that's right, I volunteered to help revive this guy's hobby shop, The Marutake Hobby Shop if I remember, for free room and board, plus the opportunity to snag some free kits from the leftover stock.

    The original plan was to stay with Yumi and aunt Naomi, but after calling 'em to ask, it turns out they're currently going through some stuff and they couldn't support a fourth person on a single mother's salary. I offered to help by getting a part-time job, but well… they're both proud girls. Probably doesn't help that they both remember my last 'part-time job'.

    "Excuse me, are you Sora Enhou?" Turning around at my name, I see a man in his late 20s to early 30s with slicked back black hair and facial hair styled in that american van dyke look dressed in an orange floral shirt under a black business casual suit, with the orange shades perched on his nose… well, if it wasn't for his age, I'd think this guy walked right out of an Omi office in the '80s. "I'm Kou Marutake, nice to mee-- You ok, kid? You look like you've seen a ghost."

    Shaking myself out of it, I smile at my new guardian. "Yeah, tha's me!... 'm jus' tired from the long trip and ya remind me of some people…"

    "The yakuza, right? Yeah, I get that from everyone who comes from a big city. Drives off the adults something fierce, but I like what I like." Laughing, he takes my bag and leads me to his car. "But you're right, you came from Kansai, right? Come on, I filled up the tank yesterday, I've got some presents for you at home that should wake you up."


    11/04/2011 | Rainy | Marutake Hobby Shop | 15:36 PM JST

    Huh, for a failing hobby shop out in the sticks, Marutake knows how to take care of his place of work; a quirky orange on black storefront with semi-futuristic looking furniture makes the place look more like a small shop from the city rather than a small seaside town's only form of entertainment.

    "You like? We don't get many customers nowadays, especially after that stupid Junes place opened up, but dad's fortune helped me build up a nice place regardless." Hanging his suit jacket on a coat peg in the stairwell between the shop and the upstairs housing area then leading me back to the counter, Marutakee pulls out three model kits and lays them out. "Well, I promised presents, so I thought I'd give you your first kit on the house, only, I don't know what you like, so I picked these three and thought we could play a bit of Pokemon."

    "You're not going to ask me my gender, are you?" I can't help but snark as I eye up the kits on offer.

    Just as I settle on a model, the door swings open twice and when I look over at the bell chimes, I see two soaking students in versions of my new school uniform panting from where they clearly rushed in from the rain. Looking back to my boss, I see a calculating look in his eyes.

    Picking up the two leftover kits, he strolls over to the two with a magnanimous smile on his face. "Hey kids! It's your lucky day! For one day only we're doing a special giveaway! Three Meklas kits going for absolutely free and a ¥5,000 Junes coupon in each with one already gone! You just have to do one very simple thing; Tell all your friends and family about how generous the Marutake Hobby Shop is!"

    Wait, what?

    Flipping over my box, sure enough there's the red and yellow paper of a Junes coupon taped to the back.

    Why would he do this if he's failing?

    More importantly, who even are these people?

    I like the idea of the girl who can deliver your food regardless of where you are when she delivers it in relation to where you ordered it being an ally. I also think Yumi's a good choice here.
     
    To talk a little about the third starter; I was undecided whether to go for Zan (Force) or Gry (Gravity) for [REDACTED]'s tertiary affinity for the longest time, but as the vote crystallised in my head, I found Force fit with the MilSci genre of Foxtrot Orion's home series more.

    Yes, I made series for all three.
