Oooooooooooof that's pretty freaky.

If I would have to make a guess I'd say put it in his Lungs or Skin. Marrow, Heart, Nerves and Stomach are too important for survival.

[X] Kidneys

Might do something interesting, and is relatively survivable.

By the time his team had picked him up to carry him, the moss was in a spirited competition between trying to consume the dead and dying kin and burning, and it looked like the equilibrium point was going to be profoundly unhealthy for humans.

As for Cal…

Windmoss Rift -> Burning Rift
Discontent Rises!
Panic Rises!
Burning Rift so I assume the toxins are Fire based.

Well according to TCM 5-Elements theory:-

Choose an organ for the toxins to concentrate in
[X] Heart
[] Kidneys

Fight Fire with Fire...I hope.

Or vote Kidney and drink lots of water to pee out the poison later.

So, is this a good or a bad thing and did we at least kill our target?

Well, that was unfortunate. Hopefully, we can still salvage some windmoss from this mess.

[X] Heart

Is it optimal? Probably not but I'm interested to see where this goes.

[X] Heart

Always like good drama. I rather we use anything other than kidney as the environment itself is what we will consider toxic, be it food or air.

It basically looks like a magical radioactive pile, and that description of a sudden burst of white light matches reports from people in criticality experiments like what happened in Los Alamos, which got jokingly called Tickling the Dragon's Tail (An actual honest to god name, it was a wild time) by the lead researcher.

Reminder that they were Tickling the Dragon's Tail on the Demon Core, because it had already killed people.

They stopped after the second incident.

This is not a place of honor
no highly esteemed dead is entombed here
