We can't really let Malekith have the initiative, we might just need to attack, the downside of this is that the Druchii will fight like cornered rats.

So what happened to the entire route of retreat being mined with doomsday weapons? Other than that one squad, it sounds like neither army was hindered by them in the slightest.

In related thought, I wonder whether having a dragon hand-fly a doomsday weapon up to Malekith's Ark would work

In the chaos that follows, your armies ready themselves for the true battle. True, such an early gain bodes well, but even with their screen of flesh peeled away the Druchii are hard-bitten fighters, and their evil never passes without bloodshed.

Unless they were never there in the first place.

As the slaves rout, their flight reveals the Druchii positions. The empty Druchii positions – and in the distance, the Druchii themselves marching away on the double. The Fist of Malekith so vast and oppressive in its presence, wavers in the sky before you as you realise how far away it, too, actually is. It hadn't revealed itself, only bent its illusory veil of clouds into a kind of lens, a refraction of distance.
Malekith has taught us a most humiliating lesson: There is no aspect of warfare that is he has not mastered, but foremost among them is strategic deception. Where we are strong, he outsmarts us. Where we are weak, he overpowers us.

And now he sits in his new Black Ark-to-be, with however many contingencies prepared under the watchful eye of four of the most potent fortresses the old world has ever seen.

*sigh*
Fuck it. Let's throw ourselves on their spears, see if we kill a few of them for our trouble.

[X] – Press this advantage! Storm the walls immediately and advance into the city. (x1.6)

I think you overestimate how well he's doing.

Our plan's not working as we desired, but he's paying a high cost and he's not getting what he wants either.

That said, yes, we had some serious flaws in our plan.

This is going to be a field of blood, but we cannot do anything else now.

Since the last turn, we've inflicted no serious casualties. The loss of the slave-screen is of no strategic gain, as Malekith replaced it with superior town walls and his Black Arks. He's all but ready to bolt, he just needs to kick off the ritual. A ritual that could very well destroy the parts of our army outside the town when the land beneath their feet collapses into the sea.

It's only the desperation of both High and Dark elf leadership looking to salvage something from what will ultimately be a locally and strategically bloody but inconclusive campaign that we even have these options.

bah, we should have used a coil to let us pin the army, It's obvious in retrospect. We're too used to fighting to the last in Warhammer quests. So he now has walls and fire support, but on the other hand morale issues, exhaustion and still somewhat depleted mages. He's also burned through most of his chaff in the retreat.

so the question is, will he retreat or try something? If we could be sure he'd just try and go home I'd be for a siege. he's already failed in all of his aims, but that very fact means he might try a hail marry. If he's going to cut his losses letting him leave would be the smart play, but if he's going to stick around we may as well hit him now.

While Press the Advantage is tempting (I mean, everyone is voting for it, and it's easy to understand when basically all our named characters are arguing for it), I am worried that ultimately, it'll mean a lot of lost lives for limited gains. We will win the day, save Tor Dynal and force Malekith to retreat, but without naval cover, retreat he will, with most of his forces intact. Thus I'd rather wait for our ships to come into position, see if we can sink a Black Ark or two in the process and make their retreat a tad more difficult.

[X] – Storm the city, but first take the time to coordinate with the fleet and what reinforcements His Highness the King can muster.
Occupying the Naggarothi fleet will make your approach easier and allow you to call on heroes from the garrison at Tor Achare, but the Druchii will be able to restore their spirits and prepare final defences.

Not holding any illusions on the chances of this vote winning, but I think this needed to be said.

The problem is our Coil already made them very strong at sea.

Fuck. This.
Too long have we spent actions for mediocre gains. Too long have we stalled and held back and been caution. We have gathered the mightiest warhost the world has seen since before the Sundering. Malekith's army is running and the garrison was already an order from retreat. It is time to End this pathetic excuse for an invasion, no matter the cost.

Ah well. I suppose we'll have to settle for "we sank a Black Ark in the first day of the invasion and killed a bunch of sorceresses while not losing anything irreplaceable". And hey, maybe I'm wrong and storming the keep now will allow us to kill something important.

@Imrix Did Teclis have enough time to mess with the ritual sites so that they couldn't be used, or could Malekith press the button and split Tor Dynal off with maybe an hour or two of prep?

Let's finish this!

Gotta be decisive, or we are playing to the raider's strenghts.

I say the loss of the slaves was quite a blow. Yeah, him being entrenched is a bitch of situation, but he has essentially lost all his ablative armour.

All damage he takes now is going to hurt.
