Outland: A multiverse dumping ground

Gimme shelter
Shelter is the issue of the day. Thankfully, there is a lot of fallen wood you can use in the area. You find some stout branches and set to work. By noon you have a rudimentary shelter set up, little more than woven branches. It serves its purpose, though, holding off the rain, as a thunderstorm runs down on you, lightning flashing. You huddle under the storm, rain pelting the ground outside your shelter. You desperately wish you had a fire, but your shelter can't hold one yet and you have no flint or steel.

As the storm goes on and the thunder crescendos, you seem to hear, over the wind, someone calling for help. Focusing your hearing, you are even more sure that yes, there is someone calling for help. The problem is that you don't know where they are and have no way of finding them through the storm. The absolute last thing you want to do is go out into this rain and get struck by lightning.

[]Go after the person
[]Wait for the storm to die down, then go

[X]Wait for the storm to die down, calling back to them in turn, then go
It wouldn't do to have two people wandering lost.. if you're stationary and they can make it up onto the hill you wont have to go searching for long.

Calling out
You call out into the storm, letting whoever is out there know you are here and friendly. You call out for several minutes before someone approaches through the gloom. They are short, very short. They are also barefoot, with hair all over their feet. They look at you and wordlessly join you under your shelter. The rain eases up some time later. Now that you can hear each other without shouting, the person turns to you and says "Hello, do you know where I am? Last thing I remember everything was fading after we had defeated the dark lord. Mr Frodo was first to go," he says dejectedly.

"I'm afraid I don't know where we are. Things and people were fading for me too. I lost my husband. I disappeared as he tried to hold me."

"That's awful, Miss...?"

"Moon. Zhu Li Moon, and you are?"

"I'm Samwise Gamgee, of Hobbiton. I must say, I've never seen one of the Big Folk who looked like you, and I've been all the way to Mordor."

You smile sadly. "I don't think we're from the same worlds, Mr Gamgee. We're both castaways on this new land. Now, let's not dawdle. I've got a little food, but two people will deplete it quickly. We must have many things, fire most of all."

"I can take care of fire. As for food, there should be plenty around. This place looks like no ones ever lived here, so the forage should be good. Have you found any fresh water?"

"I'm afraid not. That was on my list of things to do today."

"Well, we better get started, hadn't we?"

Sam will work on his own. His task for today is: Build a fire.

Today you will:
[]Search for fresh water
[]Go berry picking
[]Search the crates again
[]Write-in

[X]Search for fresh water

Samwise is a pretty solid ally. To start he comes from a medieval society which makes him familiar with fishing, hunting, farming and all sorts of useful skills that people in more modern societies don't need to know. And that's before we get into his journey to Mordor which shows he's skilled at least somewhat skilled at fieldcraft and has absolutely baller endurance.
