Operation Neptune: Gundam Test Team OVA #1

Will we get to wear equipment befitting Splinter Cell?!

That aside. I'm okay with it. Not too keen on typing on a phone, but that's my problem. Please excuse any typos I may miss.

I'm in.

Been running a live Battletech game for the past few months, and would like to get some mech action on the other side of the shield.

So, the current post I'm kinda juggling in my head is along the lines of, Lt. Taurus we need you to take your team and intercept a prototype warship and it's special team of ace pilots, which we mysteriously lost contact with mere hours before the largest operation of the one year war. How does that sound?
Sounds good. I'm guessing this is after the scene we had left off?

I'm gonna do some updates to the formatting and maybe some stats to bring this in-line with some newer stuff I've put out, when that's all done I'm gonna post a thread.

Retouching some units from earlier and trying to improve general readability.

RCX-76
Fire Support Mobile Suit
Stunts :
[Fire Support] Fire-Support mobile suits pack a punch and benefit from upgraded fire control. +1 to Targeting, and your ranged weapons keep their effect (1) Zone farther than usual.
Area Denial — The Guncannon is built for long-range bombardment. You can saturate a specific Zone with main cannon fire using Shoot or Targeting. Depending on the roll, you create Opposition to anyone moving through that Zone until your next turn.
Hard Target — Concentrated fire can crack the toughest armor. When you attack a target multiple turns in a row, you gain a +1 each time, up to a maximum of +3.

unit description
_____The RCX-76 was a dead end in Federation mobile suit development, discovered in a North American research facility in the process of being destroyed to prevent capture. The prototypes have primitive, conventional hydraulic drive systems inferior to that of a Zeon Zaku, but incorporate heavy armor and modular weapon bays, allowing for a multitude of loadouts for various scenarios.

Equipment :
2 x 60mm Vulcan
1 x TKj-03 Heat Knife (+1)
RRf-06
General Purpose Mobile Suit
Stunts :
[General Purpose] General Purpose mobile suits are well-rounded and for the offense. +1 to Melee as well as Shoot at distances up to (1) Zone away.
False Flag — The RRf-06 is a highly modified Zeon Zaku. Once per Scene, you can switch your IFF signal to a Zeon-type, allowing you to more easily sneak past the enemy, or to confuse enemy targeting systems for a momentary edge in battle.
Remove Limiters — By deactivating performance limiters, you may choose to take 1[x] Physical Stress and stack a free invocation upon the current action. Repeated use may cause a forced shutdown.

unit description
_____Spartan in features and furnishings, the RRf-06 can be best described as a hybrid between the Zeon Zaku and Federation Guncannon. It is more agile and handier in a close fight than a Guncannon, although lightly armored - largely out of necessity, as sections of armor were removed to reduce the burden upon mechanical components that are often salvaged or field-improvised. The RRf-06, or "Zanny," carries an assortment of experimental Federation mobile suit weaponry and marks a departure from the tank-like armament and design of the Guncannon series.

I want back in, if you'll have me.

For this, I decided to not just warm over, but overhaul my red flyboy a bit:

Name: Maion Delage

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Rank: Ensign

Description / Appearance:
Maion is a tall redhead with long hair that flows freely down his back. His lean physique, elegant, close-fitting dress sense and attractive features make it hard to figure out whether he's a guy or a girl from afar. He's used to it by now.

Personality & History:
"Head in the clouds" perfectly describes the grinning, wiseracking Maion, a test pilot fond of collecting factoids and technical details, tinkering with all his things, and admiring gross feats of overengineering. He has an overly romantic vision of flight and spaceflight, dovetailing nicely with his mental image of space combat and air combat as historically elegant, graceful engagements, thanks to his aviation experience being in evaluating performance and combat capabilities well away from the actual thing.

His romanticized images of flight and bird-on-bird combat were dented, but not smashed by the realities of war. He sees speed and agility, energy, and circling about in the egg all as critical components in combat, but the transition from pure air and space craft to an environment with mobile weapons has been rocky for him. The abilities that limbed weapons systems offer in multiple environments have yet to fully click in his mind, and he finds himself on the back foot with them as much as he's on the bleeding edge in terms of academic knowledge and the possibility of what can be done with raw thrust and talent. The gap between his purist pilot's mindset and the possibilities of the new way of war is closing fast - this deployment is possibly the push he needs to rise to that new plateau of power he can see just above him.

Consequences:

Moderate (4): []
Minor (2): []

Aspects:
High Concept: Fly To Live; Live To Fly

Red-Haired Pretty Boy
Think Fast, Fly Faster
Details Are Everything

Skills:
1 (+4): Lore
2 (+3): Rapport, Piloting
3 (+2): Engineering, Investigate, Notice
4 (+1): Empathy, Physique, Electronic Warfare, Will

Stunts:
Everything Is An Airplane: Maion is skilled at reining in wild, untested machines and saving himself when they decide to stop cooperating with him. He doesn't give up, re-framing any bad enough scenario in the cockpit as getting an ornery bird back under him - after all, anything flies if you give it enough speed. He may re-roll a failed Piloting roll once per scenario.

A Thinking Man's Man: Maion's capacity for learning extends from his day job to just about everything else he tends to idly look up in his free time. Sometimes this even comes in kind of handy, as his mind lets him easily turn schematics and theory (and gossip, and instruction manuals, and the odd magazine article) into hard practice. He can use Lore in place of Engineering for repairs (Overcomes vs Diagnostics) or to reverse-engineer enemy weapons or technology.

Follow The Birdie: Maion's instincts in high-speed, high-flying combat have taught him that that positioning and confusion are the best weapons a pilot can have in a combat scenario. He gets +2 to Piloting rolls to create Advantages against enemies.

Hey, thanks for posting this, but I'm going to revise the skill set / revise some of the format stuff, and I don't think we'll be doing acquisition this round as we're going back to the original RP, albeit probably with a timeskip.
