pulling out a power in his soul I've been hinting at since the House of the Rising Sun was a thing.
Wait what? I think i missed that.

Being stabbed so much that his Zanpakuto spirit births the thing that has been waiting since the beginning is.
Oh wait, no. I didn't miss that, i was just a bit confused as to what you were speaking of

"So in that case, I order you not to tell me about the girl named Clare."
That cannot work. He can't be that stupid.

"Is there a penalty worse than death?" Another asked, "A super death penalty?"

"For him, we might need to make one."
Hah, this made laugh. Super Death, from the people who brought you Super Satan

One of the judges sighed audibly, "Well," he said. "That was disappointing."
Yeah. Did he get an aneurysm or something?

Then, suddenly, chaos.
God damnit, Poe. What have you done now!

In other words… fucking theocracies, man, how do they work?
Not well, obviously

…What then, she asks me?

I opened my eye to glare at her over my shoulder, "Then they'll be dead."

And I walked.
I am entirely fine with this. I have no emotional bond to Theresa in any way. I have more of a bond to the nameless Knights and Soldiers she killed.

Are you ready for the end? Because the end is just beginning... fuck, that was lame. Let me try agai--
The End of his World is just the beginning of the next world. And it will be heralded by Fire!

and I really should start to use a capital letter for my soldiers to distinguish them from other soldiers – like, Soldiers as opposed to soldiers,
Or SOLDIER. You can style their hair in awesome ways and give them giant-ass, impractical-but-awesome swords and make them all broody and emo.

"Some might consider it a challenge that you left behind. A kind of riddle, perhaps,"
And then, sometime in the future of this world, but only a few weeks after Poe has shifted, someone will break in and find Poe

"In other words…" Hermanubis gestured with his hands. "You nailed it?"

"For once, yeah. Like ninety percent nailed it."
Huh, yeah he actually has a change to leave a world better off, compared to making it worse.

but there's legitimately nothing we can do about her.
Napalm. Gratuitous amounts of it.

"Right, I'll just… wait, seriously? Acti Square? Who named that?"
Probably one of the people worshiping you as a god

Oh yeah. That's her name!

It was over. For once, things were done and I… well, I was okay with that.
Aaaaand.... FIRE!

since Iratus was tried and died of a seizure.
OR he might have died like that.

"…Small fry." He stepped towards her
Fuck! If he hurts Undine, i will do something. I don't know what, because i can't do shit.

…I couldn't find it in me to even be mad about it.
Go kick his ass Poe Rider!

I'm gonna stop here, and make a single post for the last chapter

Is it possible for Medusa to make herself a physical body from the materials you supplied her and walk out of the House of the Rising Sun?

the flames of this RIGHTEOUS and MIGHTY being rose
You forgot FABULOUS

it was the highest sinner of all.
Yes. Kill it. Destroy it! PURGE IT!

"I've gotta admit I'm curious; what the hell's gonna happen?"
You're gonna get your ass kicked, that's what's gonna happen

~Broken wings won't hold you down~

Just as he made to stand and strike again with black and green power from a zone that was not real
Ghost Zone?

Then there was silence.

Silence and nothing else as HE held the skeletal throat of the black and emerald nightmare that dared hold a similar visage to HIS glorious form. Yet he watched, still aware and still unharmed.
Yeah... Penance Stare requires one to see right? Does it count if it's a fricking skeleton? Apparently not.

"Lemme show you how it's done…"

[["Penance Stare."]]
Or he might just have been batshit crazy. And fuck, this is not good. This might not work on The Ghost Rider, but Poe is still a part of that being. And Poe has a lot of regrets.

A building of people walking about, speaking, working, getting ready to head home after a hard day. Shattered glass exploding from behind them and in front of them. The building is burning, people are screaming.

Hiding in trenches and preparing to charge forward, the feeling of bullets falling and flying through bodies left and right. Everyone is screaming and charging but nobody is going anywhere. Weapons unseen chatter into the air as casings decorate the earth with blood and grime.

Countless people starving, wondering where all the gold disappeared to – there is no money, there are no funds. How can they survive on so little, where did it all go? Who committed the sin of theft, and who allowed the theft to happen?

Knights in armor fight desperately against a foe as some are saved, but many must die in wars – for the master is complicit in the directed actions of his slaves.
A lot of mistakes and regrets.

HE refused… and was denied.
Shit...

And you destroyed the paper just before it happened :/

That's… that's not good.
No. No it's not. But i got the feeling that the Fake was only after getting you to Shift.

One Foot on the Platform
OR: One Foot on the Train

End-289
And i am now caught up. Man, @Ars Poetica , it's been one hell of a ride :D

A very awesome, confusing, funny and infuriating ride. There's a lot to be said about your characters, some good, some bad and almost all awesome in their own way. Poe is a trainwreck(heh) that goes from place to place and often leaves it worse than when he arrived. But he does his best and tries to make everyone happy. He took some of the worst, best and lovable enemies from different settings and befriended them, after absorbing them, and even got a Hot Snek Milf out of it.

Fuck this is an awesome story, Ars. Just brilliant. I really look forward to finding out where he ends up.

And as always. Fuck Visola and Shou Tucker with a rusty pitchfork.

A friend just asked me to summarize the entire plot of this story so far.

...Anyone wanna contribute? Feel free to be as concise or as convoluted as you'd like. :)
"God Damnit, Poe..."

Is it possible for Medusa to make herself a physical body from the materials you supplied her and walk out of the House of the Rising Sun?
hmm...
what about a remote control body? she stays safe in Poes head, and controls the other body from afar?
also, there is an unfortunate lack of her taking advantage that only Poe can see and hear her out of his head...

Chapter 290
I can already tell that this is going to be fun. Can't you?

-x-

My eyes opened at the sound of water slowly dripping out of a broken, exposed pipe. My ears zeroed in on where the droplet would land; it pitter-pattered against an overturned car of some sort.

At some point in my search, I'd fallen asleep. With no idea where I was, and with nobody around for at least a mile in every direction, I found my way to a small, overturned house. Or I guess it was an apartment building before it was flipped over – the ground having snapped and quaked, causing it to fall.

What used to be the side of the building was now passable as a kind of bridge between two cliff sides. I rested on a wall and reminisced about my headquarters way back in Amestris, my head tilted to the side. It was probably destroyed by now, but the memory brought a smile to my face.

There was another drip, a small droplet of water falling from above me. It went right past my face and through the open door that gently swung back and forth with the wind. Glancing up, I caught a glimpse of the red sky just as it changed a little… it looked kind of yellow now, but not really.

I cracked my neck and stood on the wall. All the furniture in the room was covered in dust and collapsed on its side, but that wasn't an issue for me as I made a short hop and fell through the open doorway. One hand lashed out to grasp the doorknob, briefly stopping my fall as I swung my legs.

The wood broke free of the building just as I let go, and my body struck one side of the cliff – each hand clenching tightly against one rock or another. So continued my descent… Now I started close to the top of a city in the sky, or at least one that was high enough to give that impression. Logic dictated that if I couldn't find anything on top, then I'd have to start heading lower.

My feet impacted the bottom of the broken car, denting it slightly and rocking it back. With another quick jump, I was on solid ground again. It was dark down here, with high rock walls to either side of me. Turning around, I found my way blocked by piles upon piles of debris and broken things.

Whatever caused this forced canyon certainly didn't stop the people from using it as a dumping ground for unwanted junk. In any case, that left me one solid route to go on. Someone had a lot of shit to answer for, and I was going to find that person come hell or high water.

"Is this a bad time?" Desiree asked me.

"Nah," I shook my head, "It's fine. I'm not doing much in the real world right now, so you'll have to settle for my simulated self here… If anything, I should be asking you if this is okay."

The genie sighed, "We've been over this, Poe." With a smile, she tilted her head and shrugged a shoulder. "I'd prefer to have you here in person, but this works just as well. Where should we begin today?"

"Uh, you asked about my friend last time, so… um… You still wanna know about him?"

"Are you willing to say more?"

"Sure."

"Then by all means…" she waved her hand towards me, giving it just a little bit of flair.

I nodded, "Alright, so, let's see… quarterback of the local team, really into sports, oh! I know, so this one time I'm screwing around at the tunnel, right? And he just sees me there, alone, and he asks what I'm doing. I tell him I'm being a conductor and he just walks on up and asks how he can help. I tell him, "you get to be engineer". He was cool with it. We had a lot of fun that day, at least 'til he found the needle."

"You mentioned that the tunnel was a 'drug haven'."

"Yeah," I nodded, "My town had a real drug problem while I was growing up. This one time, a couple of guys hopped up on shit stole my mother's mailbox and threw it through the window of the high school science building. That happened when I was… six…? But most of the time, they just messed around at the bottom of the hill, down by the tunnel."

"I imagine that finding that needle must have ruined your day."

"Mine? Nah, but, I guess it ruined his, though," I shook my head. "He knew what was going on – came with being a little older than me. But it just never clicked that finding something like that was weird. I mean, it was the tunnel. Stuff happened there all the time. Finding weird things like screws or spare change or needles, it happened." I shrugged, "Just a weird place. No big deal."

Desiree didn't look very convinced.

The first sign that I wasn't alone was the sound of breathing. After walking for almost an hour with nothing to occupy me but my thoughts, I'd found my way into what looked like the lower part of a major metropolis. The slums, even before this city was abandoned, must have been one hell of a sight to see.

I couldn't help but notice the larger apartment complexes that served as pillars to support the "cave" I'd walked into. Roads were still covered in cracks and lines of grass and mold, while the sun shone through the open ceiling – was that why the sky turned an odd shade of yellow? I doubted it. Something else was going on.

Anyway, the breathing… I could tell it was coming from a young woman. She had to have been in her early twenties, thereabouts – though I wasn't about to deny that I might've been blindly guessing. I was taller than her by at least a foot, and she seemed kind of heavy. Actually, each step she took I could feel a vibration running through her body.

How dense was her skeletal structure?

Then there was another pulse of sound, someone was walking towards me. I heard something clicking. That was… a gun, most certainly. It belonged to an adult male, about six feet in height, and someone was falling towards me.

Oh shit, someone was falling towards me–

I felt a young woman's body impact me, she was wrapped in deceptively thick armor and suddenly swords. No warning, no foresight, there were swords floating behind her in a halo and they were swinging at me. I was already bringing up my gauntlets to defend myself just as I heard the young, heavy woman suddenly start running.

She was quick, but not impossible to counter. I was more concerned with the chick currently telepathically swinging blades at me. Wait, no, not telepathically. It had to be raw, magnetic force. A single, red eye focused on me and I charged towards it.

Rolling did nothing, so I released a slight pulse of sound from my gauntlets and channeled it below my feet. If a Zanpakuto was an expression of my soul, then I always had some of its power… so I gambled on that, and was rewarded with a loud smack as my fist drove itself into her gut.

She seemed surprised that I'd suddenly hopped up and threw my entire bodyweight into that one punch. I didn't let on that I had no idea what I was doing as I turned around her. With my other hand, I reached down behind her lower back and flipped her around.

But the mechanical girl – at least a cyborg – recovered fast and began floating away. Below her, I saw the figure of a young girl with black hair charging towards me. The sun reflected off of a pair of claws above each of her hands as she began swinging.

Slow, slow, too slow; I just stepped back and avoided each strike – ow. The sudden burst of speed came totally unexpected as an almost invisible aura surrounded her. I firmed my stance and threw a solid punch at her.

With strength I know she didn't have beforehand, she caught my fist and suddenly began rolling around it. That's the best way I have to describe the acrobatic maneuver she did, because one moment she was holding my arm and the next, she had both hands on my gauntlet and had thrown her entire body around my limb.

I was falling to the ground just as I felt something slip out from beneath my feet. One of the mechanical girl's swords had fallen to the ground, and I'd stepped on the flat side of a blade without even realizing it.

My back was level to the ground as I began to fall, when suddenly I forced my wings out from my back. They were broken, and they still hadn't healed. The feeling of agonizing pain that rushed up my entire spine was worth the look of shock on the girl's face though, because even if my wings were shattered they still kept me from falling to the ground properly.

I rolled over her, blasting out some noise from my gauntlet that forced her to let go of me as I pinned her to the ground and looked up.

The hilt of one of the cyborg girl's swords was so close to my nose I could feel the air displacing itself. That was, what, an inch? Quickly, I tilted my head to the side and let it pass me by. I pressed down, keeping my hold on the girl firm before leaping up and withdrawing my wings.

Shifting into my chimeric form, I began charging up and away. Each bound took me higher up one of the underground buildings. There was one person who hadn't participated in this so far, and it was the guy with the gun.

He knew I was coming for him as I zeroed in on his building, about a hundred yards away from where I was just attacked. It only took me two jumps to reach the fifth floor, and hardly any effort to roll through the open, shattered window and into a dusty room.

My foot squeaked.

…Looking down, I realized I landed on a little doll. Huh. Okay.

Now back to chasing down the gunman.

I could hear him running as he made it to the end of the hallway and threw himself over the railing for the stairs. Well, fuck dealing with that shit. I just turned around, jumped out the window, and threw myself through the window on the lower floor – shit, crap, fuck, ow!

Who the fuck installs a window in a goddamn broom closet?! Who does that! I mean, seriously, what the actual hell! What kind of janitor needs a fucking view? Ugh, fuck, my foot was stuck in an old bucket and I do not want to imagine what the hell was in it.

So I kick off the bucket with one foot and punch open the door with my gauntlet. At that, I heard a satisfying fwhack as the wood door flew open and knocked the gunman on his ass. I stepped out and shut the door behind me, my chimeric features fading. "Opening into the hallway? This building is not up to code." I blinked, "Uhh… that's a nice gun you've got there."

The onyx colored pistol's long barrel glinted, as the man watched me. "How did you–"

"Window." I answered. I could hear a long-forgotten mop fall down and clatter against the wooden floor.

"…In a closet?"

"I know, right?!"

I heard something whistling towards me from outside the building, human-shaped… oh, that's clever. The cyborg girl was magnetically lifting the black haired girl, and she just slingshot her towards me. She was coming at me feet first, aiming to kick the side of my head like some kind of horse.

How about no?

I stepped back, watching her break through the closed door, then fly past me as she broke through yet a door on the opposite side of the hallway leading to another room… and kept going through another window with a loud crash… "Um," I coughed awkwardly, "Is she going to be okay?"

The man's expression was downright constipated, "She's been through worse." He said, still pointing his really cool-looking gun at me.

"Awesome." A sword flew towards me, and I reached up to catch it by the hilt. "Can you tell your lady friends to stop trying to not-kill me? One hilt-throw is an accident; two is an attempt at deliberate capture."

"I… ah, yes. Yes I can."

"Cool." I paused, swinging the magnetically charged blade in my hand to knock the next sword that flew at me out of the air. "Now, please? I've just had a really shitty day, and you're kind of starting to annoy me. Just a little."

Then the man slowly reached into his jacket pocket, and what a nice jacket it was, to draw out a walkie-talkie… a very familiar walkie-talkie, with three arrows in a circle pointing to the center – Oh you've gotta be fucking kidding me.

"Kokonoe," the man said, "It's Godo. We've found our guest."

One Foot on the Platform
OR: One Foot on the Train

End-290

I don't know anything about this world.. So anyone willing to give a summery? Also On a scale of 1 to Poe how bad is this?

I've only played a bit of the first Blazblue once, with that vampire-like guy with the Azure Grimoire who steals health with his special attack, but from the context of that one time? It seems that part of the setting is The End Of Time. And that's only part of the background. I may not know the full story just yet, but I can tell it's bad.

Plus, the SCP Foundation is obviously involved, so it's already FUBAR.

...I just realized that there will be rather interesting results if Poe ever manages to meet Dr. Alto Clef of the SCP Foundation. Remember what was revealed in that one containment breach where the Foundation considered reclassifying him when it was discovered that he was, in fact, Lucifer, the Morningstar? Made transparent rather than spoilered because it's too short to keep in a spoiler without messing up the structure of the post.

Blazblue, is it? I know squat of this setting, honestly, and was actually wondering if it could be RWBY till others pinpointed what it actually was. How dangerous is BB?

Blazblue, is it? I know squat of this setting, honestly, and was actually wondering if it could be RWBY till others pinpointed what it actually was. How dangerous is BB?

There's a guy who can casually cut through time. He's currently running around at 20% of his power and existence due to dimensional shenanigans.
There is a system of sorts in place that force resets the world in 100 year timelines.
One of the main villains is quite literally the God of Trolls. Asshole does not die.
The setting is grey and black with little to no White left in it. Attempts at whiting it are countered with more 'Oh, shit.'

And much more that I can't remember.
Do you know Guilty Gear?
If you do, then this series is basically a much more complicated Guilty Gear in terms of story, with a slightly lower power level scale. It places emphasis on crazy ass conceptual bullshit and other things, like the afore mentioned timeline shenanigans, soul stealing abominations, talking cats, screwed up families...
... Kinda like the Nasuverse, now that I think about it.

SCP Foundation always finds a way.

I'm also unfamiliar with Blazblue, but the girl with swords seems to be Nu-13. And I can't find any mention of Godo. If this is not OC, then Blazblue may be crossed with... Angel Notes?

Sword girl is probably Lambda-11. Kokonoe found and fixed her up. Kind of. It's a depressing story.
... ;_;
Nu is cray cray. Like... Waaaaay Cray Cray. Yandere at highest setting.

I caught a glimpse of the red sky just as it changed a little… it looked kind of yellow now, but not really.
I still have no idea where this is.

I couldn't help but notice the larger apartment complexes that served as pillars to support the "cave" I'd walked into.
Wait what? I thought he was on a floating island-city thing

Hmm, still not ringing any bells

Wait, no, not telepathically.
Yeah, Telekinetic. Telepathic is something else entirely

It had to be raw, magnetic force.
Or that. Basically it's either Jean Gray or Magneto

But the mechanical girl – at least a cyborg – recovered fast and began floating away. Below her, I saw the figure of a young girl with black hair charging towards me.
For a second i thought it was RWBY and that it was Ruby and Penny...

The sun reflected off of a pair of claws above each of her hands as she began swinging.
...But then this happened and killed that idea...

The sudden burst of speed came totally unexpected as an almost invisible aura surrounded her.
...Just to have this trying to revive it again.

"Opening into the hallway? This building is not up to code." I blinked, "Uhh… that's a nice gun you've got there."
Nice going, Poe...

"Window." I answered. I could hear a long-forgotten mop fall down and clatter against the wooden floor.

"…In a closet?"

"I know, right?!"
Hah :D

with three arrows in a circle pointing to the center
Aw, crap :(

"Kokonoe," the man said, "It's Godo. We've found our guest."
Oooh! I have no idea who these people are!

Everyone else says BlazBlue. I know of the games, but nothing more than it being a fighting game.

Blazblue, huh? So videogames can be on the list. Never played the games but I have an inkling of the plot. Overpowered shonen villains manipulate everyone with a vague plan and time travel that really shouldn't work but does anyway because plot.

But the real question is where at the 'beginning' did Poe end up? At the first Blazblue game, before the Black Beast, somewhere else?

Wait, the new Ghost Rider had green flames, a fedora, and a soul of pure evil that couldn't be burned...Is he Yuuki Terumi?

Fuck the anime.

Wait, the new Ghost Rider had green flames, a fedora, and a soul of pure evil that couldn't be burned...Is he Yuuki Terumi?
...
...
SON OF A-! HOW DOES THAT EVEN-
No. No. Terumi definitely has a soul that can be gibbed. His soul is very much erasable.
...
If he is Terumi I will rage like anything. I swear, I will become Doomguy incarnate.

Edit: OP just rated this.
... Excuse me, getting a shotgun. Just in case.

No. No. Terumi definitely has a soul that can be gibbed. His soul is very much erasable.
But Penance Stare... there are limits to it. The Penance Stare cannot, for example, work on someone who is so completely insane that they do not comprehend the evil of their actions.

For example, the Ghost Rider once used his Penance Stare on Cletus Kasady -- better known as Carnage. If Poe encounters anyone or anything like that while in the form of the Rider or, alternatively, if he encounters someone who is blind and cannot see the Penance Stare, then the Penance Stare will not work.
HE saw into the eyes of the sinner. "YOUR SOUL IS STAINED BY THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT." This was the end. "FEEL THEIR PAIN."

[["PENANCE STARE!"]]
Then there was silence.

Silence and nothing else as HE held the skeletal throat of the black and emerald nightmare that dared hold a similar visage to HIS glorious form. Yet he watched, still aware and still unharmed.

"You call that a Penance Stare?" The OTHER considered his position, held by the neck and pinned to the ground. He seemed to nod. "Cute."

He fell into the shadow cast by HIS body, emerging from behind with a yell. A single backhand threw HIS body away, but chains wrapped around HIS form swung HIM around through the air. Portals of black and green formed around HIM, and the sinner fell into one, and began leaping.

The OTHER struck, chains and power slashing out to deliver blow after blow upon HIS body. Each strike cracking bone, each punch another splintered joint – and HE was forced to acknowledge a dark truth.

Whoever this monster was, whatever their name… the thing that dared take upon itself the mantle of Ghost Rider

It was hopelessly insane.

"Hyahahaha! And that's the truth of it!" Both of his heels struck HIS chest and knocked HIM through the air and towards the earth. HE tumbled, then stood. Broken bones slowly stitching themselves back together as the OTHER began stepping towards HIS burning form. "You can't burn someone without a soul, you can't burn a soul that's already burnt, and you can't burn someone who feels no guilt. I've got a soul, and it's never been touched by you. So guess which column I fall under! Go on! Do it! Hahahahaha!"
Certainly, beings that don't have souls cannot have their souls burnt by the Penance Stare. That always went without saying. The bit about a soul being immune to the Penance Stare after it's already happened is a bit that's never come up before. But for someone who is hopelessly nuts? To a person that is completely monstrous, someone who is hopelessly awful... that kind of person has always been immune to the Penance Stare.

Aka Yuuki Terumi, who ceased to be a man and turned into something what literally can only exists if only, somewhere, someone, at least one person hates his guts. And he becomes stronger the more they hate him.

A lot of ppl hate him.
