Chapter I: Megalopolis VII
[X] Ask about the recent activities that led to him being chased by the troopers.
-[X] Ask him about Japan, major events that have happened, and things relevant to the world at large.
-[X] Push for information regarding what sort of religion they follow here and the locations of their base(s).
-[X] If he's uncooperative, bud him. If budding doesn't work, painfully dispose of him unless he cooperates.
-[X] Search his body after his usefulness expires, specifically for money just to have a legal means of acquiring basic amenities.

"You're trembling. Come, tell me what happened and ease your worries."

"... I can't." Your attempt to calm him has no visible effect, the zombie's body shaking with fright as he replies. The evil in their heart should be amplified greatly and their minds predisposed to follow the orders of the vampire that gave them life, but right now they are as uncooperative as they can be, even going so far as to outright refuse to do your bidding. "No harm will come to you if you answer my questions with honesty, keep that in mind." This time there is no answer. Their attention is directed at the ground in front of them, avoiding you. You fold your arms. Seeing a creature so pitiful is only amusing for so long before it becomes bothersome, and your patience is running thin. "If simply giving an answer brings you enough discomfort that total silence is preferable, I will have to resort to something more drastic."

Your hairs extend behind your back, binding together and morphing into the grotesque shape of a flesh bud. They have served you well so far, but you aren't entirely sure how one would interact with the zombie's undead state, hoping that it would at least make him slightly more cooperative. The spore launches itself at the man's forehead the second it is fully formed, digging itself into the brain with no resistance from its victim. You wait, allowing him to reorient himself before continuing the interrogation, but things do not go as planned. The exposure to the zombie's decaying flesh seems to have an adverse effect on the flesh bud's behavior, its hostility increasing beyond what you have observed in the past. It might have something to do with the order in which an individual is turned into a zombie and enthralled by the flesh bud, or at least you guess so, but the effects are clear. Your control over the man's psyche is firm, but the vampiric cells implanted within their forehead will reach maturity and devour the host's brain at an explosive rate. You will undoubtedly have all of your questions answered, but on a strict time limit.

"Let's try that again. What led you to being chased by those soldiers?" The zombie's reply is swift and immediate, their empty eyes staring at you during their monotone explanation. "Some time ago I received a message from my superiors. Someone involved with the transportation of their property had exceeded their authority by taking an item of particular value for themselves. I was tasked with supervising a group of trusted people who would resolve the situation by making the traitor disappear. We succeeded in carrying out the first stage of our plan, but the authorities entered the house while we were transporting the body. I was the only one who was able to flee in time."

"Very good, you're much more talkative than before." A very direct answer, much like you had hoped, but you need to know the reason behind this little criminal conspiracy of theirs if you are to make sense of the situation. "Who are you working for and where do they operate from?"

"Heiwa no Kajitsu, an organization created to aid in the growth of our leader's religious teachings. Its main headquarters is in Fukuoka, but the local branch owns a building in the nearby city, Shiraminato. The building there is primarily used for for administrative purposes rather than religious activities." You already suspected some kind of relation between the crime and the criminal's beliefs judging by their reaction to you and the contents of their car, but you didn't expect a local cult to be directly responsible for the murder. To think that you would be caught in the middle of a religious conflict as soon as you entered the country... It could be viewed as a hindrance, but to you it has the trappings of a marvelous opportunity, something to be taken advantage of in order to expand your own influence in this new world. "I was going to ask about your beliefs, but I guess that won't be needed anymore. Tell me about the stolen item instead."

"It is a book with a white cover. I am not aware of its contents, I was never given permission to open it, but I was told that it was an important part of our future plans." And now it's in the hands of the authorities. Unfortunate for the man's superiors, most likely; you doubt that the pages of that book contain anything they would willingly reveal. You fully intend to force every last scrap of information out of the zombie, but before you can ask your next question their body violently convulses, blood gushing from their face as the sound of tearing flesh fills the air. Thin, tube-like tentacles emerge from their eyes, nose, and mouth, lashing out at the air around them like living whips.
So these are the effects of a flesh bud reaching maturity and destroying its host from the inside... As the creator of the spores you have an innate understanding of their workings, but obviously haven't had to chance to observe them yet. As disappointed as you are with the current state of affairs, attempting to stop the process would be pointless, so you watch in silence as the man falls to their knees, reaching for their face and crying out in pain in the occasional moments where the spore's control falters.

It doesn't take long for their body to collapse, and without any proper sustenance, the flesh bud shrivels and dies along with its host, leaving no evidence of your involvement. Now that they have returned to being a corpse, you crouch down and search the man's belongings for anything of value. Failing to find anything at all, you rise to your feet and leave the scavenging to the crows; rummaging through a dead man's pockets is below you, especially if they contain nothing to begin with. Better-informed than before, you step over the bloodied corpse and prepare to continue your journey to the city, but do not follow through.

Your body is motionless. Your mind lingers on the book. If it truly is as important as the zombie believed, it would serve as a useful bargaining tool when dealing with the groups doing business in the city. Some form of interaction with the powers that be is inevitable, and this might be your only opportunity to establish yourself as a major player in a fast, if dangerous, manner.

[ ] Change your mind and return to the car post-haste. The book, and the secrets kept within it, will belong to DIO soon enough.

[ ] Enough of this nonsense, it would be unwise to meddle in affairs you still know so little about. The city awaits you.

QM Note: I apologize for the long, long delay this update experienced, being in the middle of a very busy IRL period meant I didn't have a lot of time or energy to work on it, and when I did work on it I was mainly busy with rewrites (the original draft was completely different and thrice as long, it has gone through a lot of improvements). So yes, the quest is alive and well and will continue as normal, it was just unconscious for two or so months.

[X] Enough of this nonsense, it would be unwise to meddle in affairs you still know so little about. The city awaits you.

ITS BACK!
WRYYYYYYYY!

Obviously the book is bad news, or rather... Power, and power in the hands of some dumb mortals instead of us, DIO is unacceptable. But the men are probably long gone by now, and messing around with stuff you don't understand is bad... We need to establish our presence first, really nail down a terf for us as the rightful master of this new land (and most importantly recover enough from the body transfer.)

Indeed, DIO is back in business.

Sound reasoning. Voting will end in a few days, by the way.

I'm going with "Just because it might be gone, doesn't mean it is gone, so might as well check." Also being cautious is for poindexters and it seems better than just wandering around waiting for new opportunities fall into our collective lap.

[X] Change your mind and return to the car post-haste. The book, and the secrets kept within it, will belong to DIO soon enough.

You turn around, fully aware of the risks associated with such an undertaking. There is of course the possibility that the book is long gone, transported by the soldiers and never to be seen again, but what of it? Wasted time means nothing to a man who has all the time in the world, especially when you could gain an important advantage over a group that you are bound to come into conflict with. In short, the possible benefits of taking the book for yourself are greater than the hindrances you may face, and that is enough to delay your journey to the city. You tread your path through the heavily forested area once more, your mind too occupied with what lies ahead to keep track of the time. Not that it's very important to do so; you still have many hours before the sun rises again.

Hidden by the many trees surrounding your position, you spot the armored vehicle the soldiers used. While the tinted windows prevent you from seeing if any of them reside within its metal frame, it is stationary, which can only mean that the book remains nearby. Further in the distance you can see the cultist's car, guarded by only two of the six men. The other three are nowhere to be seen, still combing the wilderness for their target, and the last one now stands in front of a newly-arrived vehicle. Similar to that of the cultist's, its owner is no more than an ordinary civilian. A woman in the middle of what seems to be a heated argument with the soldier; you can't understand a single word spoken by them, but understand the situation. Her anger is met with cold dismissal, but she does not admit defeat. With the soldier most likely to spot you occupied, you move from the bushes to behind the truck, closer to where you need to be. You carefully observe the other two soldiers, recognizing your thrall as the one furthest away from you.

[ ] Stealthily move past them without violence.

[ ] Conduct a surprise attack on the soldier and the woman, draining them both and moving their remains under the car. After this you will position yourself for another surprise attack on the last enemy soldier.

[ ] Conduct a surprise attack on the soldier and the woman, draining them both and using them as shields to charge the last enemy soldier.

[ ] Use your Space Ripper Stingy Eyes to dispatch the soldier guarding the cultist's car before attacking the nearest one.

[ ] Return to the trees and go around, moving closer to your servant so you can command them.

[ ] Channel all of the strength currently residing in your body, lifting the soldiers' vehicle and throwing it at them. It's the only way to guarantee their demise.

WRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

edit: after looking at the facts, stingy ripper eyes are very cool and good.

The other options are nice and all but have any of my fellow holy divers considered eye lasers and how cool they are.

LASERS SON

I'm guessing the vampire eye lasers will become the uncontested winner anyways, so voting has ended earlier than usual.

Someone roll 1d100.

I see, you're forcing me to activate my stand [Dice Roller]

Took me a while to figure out where the Dice Roller was moved.
Sword of Mars threw 1 100-faced dice. Total: 53
53 53

I'd like to remind everyone that all rolls relating to DIO's performance currently suffer a -19 penalty due to his low synchronization with Jonathan's body, information is in the character sheet.

Update soon.

Chapter I: Megalopolis IX
[X] Use your Space Ripper Stingy Eyes to dispatch the soldier guarding the cultist's car before attacking the nearest one.

You take a step away from the truck and out of cover, your eyes fixed on the soldier beside the cultist's car. You haven't had the time to test the current performance of the ability you are about to use, but there should be no way for you to miss at this distance. Your pupils undergo an inhuman change, folding outwards to create an opening for the attack that follows. Two jets of highly pressurized liquid shoot from your eyes, the abnormal noise generated by it only reaching the other enemy soldier's ears after the beams have already pierced their ally's throat. You cross the distance between you and the two humans in the blink of an eye, but the soldier reacts with greater speed than you could have expected. Several shots have already been fired at you, the man frantically shouting into their radio as he unloads a hail of bullets in your direction. While the bullets do not reach their intended goal of the head and torso, many of them lodge themselves in your left arm instead, temporarily paralyzing it in the process. Not bothered by this development, you close in and swipe your right arm upwards, the blow carrying enough force to knock the rifle out of their hands and push their arms out of the way, only stopping after your fingers have been firmly embedded into the underside of their skull.

"WRYYYYYYYYYY—!!"

You lift them off their feet, the muscles in your arm pulsating as the soldier's blood is drained from their body, strengthening you and accelerating your regenerative ability. The bullets are forced out of the wounds they created, which then begin to slowly but absolutely close. You estimate that it will take a minute or so for your arm to return to its previous functionality, but it's not over yet. The woman, who had been hiding behind the soldier until now, is trying to run. You easily catch up to and neutralize them in the same manner, discarding the remains. With any possible wrench in your plans eliminated your gaze settles on the car, moving closer and throwing its trunk open. In it lies the object you are searching for, returned to its original place. You take it without a shred of hesitation, fingers trailing over the blank cover as you consider your next move.

[ ] Order your thrall to use their radio, updating the enemy with a false report on the situation.
[ ] Pin your attack on the cult.
[] Write-in.
After this you will...
[ ] Leave the area.
[ ] Return to the forest and continue your journey to the city.
[ ] Return to the forest with your thrall, interrogating him during your trip to the city.
[ ] Take the woman's car and drive to the city with what limited knowledge of controlling such a vehicle you have.
[ ] Remain in the area and turn the soldiers into zombies.
[ ] Inform them of the boat you entered on, ordering them to stay there until further notice.
[ ] Order them to enter the truck and drive you to the city. There will be plenty of time to question them.
[ ] Order them to follow you to the city by foot. There will be plenty of time to question them.
[ ] Order them to assume their previous positions and wait for the soldiers searching the forest to return for a surprise attack.

[ ] It isn't needed. Instead you will...

From what I remember, Zombies are way too strong to get taken out by mere guns unless they just... Stand there. With some zeds and Dio we can easily take them all out and turn the entire operation into zombies. More zombie = more blood to take from fools. Informing the dudes of an attack would just get them prepared for the ambush.

Gotta get more juice my DIOs. It'll be easier if they think there's friendlies back at the car.
