This is a quest for Nowhere Stars, a dark magical girl series that takes inspiration from, well, magical girl stories and messed-up visual novels. It's still ongoing, I just decided to start this because I wanted to. Don't consider this to be canonical in any capacity, and I highly recommend reading the base material.

If you don't want to, that's also fine. Here's a basic run-down.

In this quest, you are playing as a Harbinger- the "monster of the week." Think something's like Madoka's Witches, but full-fledged characters in their own right. In general, they attempt to consume and spread themselves. They aren't necessarily evil per say, many actually just want to help people, but the problem is that their "help" can include "flaying people alive because skin is a barrier to people connecting."

It is the duty of the Keepers, ie the magical girls, to kill and consume the Harbingers to fuel their Emergence, keeping the city of New Claris uneaten as a by-product. I mean, most probably consider the "keeping the city safe" to be a priority but I digress.

Both Keepers and Harbingers use magic, warping reality to suit the nature of their souls.

There's a bit more to it, but honestly that's all you really need to know for this quest! There's definitely some plot twists and stuff, especially regarding how the afterlife works, but that only really matters if you get yourself killed!
Prologue: Awaiting The All-Knowing
You don't know how you came to be or where you came from, but that's ok. Such things aren't necessary. Are never necessary. They don't matter because NOTHING matters because The All-Knowing hasn't spoken to you yet.

You can feel the hole where They should be whispering secrets into your ear. You know that They are coming, that soon they will be with you and make you whole and that everything will be alright.

hehe

But, of course, if they don't mind, you have one thing to ask them. It's a lot, but they are as kind as they are knowledgeable so it should be ok.

. . .

<What is my name?>

QM Note
Hi!

This is my first quest!

So, first thing's first, I'd like to set up some expectations because that's what the internet recommended for me to do.

1) I like fucked up shit. Fucked up shit will happen. If you don't like fucked up shit then you should leave, this is not for you.

2) There will be situations where there is no correct answer.

3) I prefer that votes be shorter; I won't punish you if you don't think of every single possible thing that could happen.

4) Just like the original, there will be no stats or numbers go UP, unless there's a specific keeper or harbinger that does that. This person is not you.

5) I reserve the right to veto as needed, but I'll try to go with what y'all give me the best I can.

6) I intend to have fun, and y'all should too!

7) It's fine to make mistakes, that's part of the fun!

Afterbirth 1-1
Kommenia

The All Knowing has whispered this Truth to you.

hehe

Yes . . . Their voices, caressing your hearing like a thousand feathers, so sweet that it almost makes you sick, truly wonderful. It is there, it is absolute . . .

<These Commands Are Absolute>

<Kommenia>

Yes, this is how things are and always have been, forever and to eternity.

hehe

Although . . . Their Truth was a bit more nuanced than that, wasn't it? There was detail, things to set. Nuances . . .

Oh, of course! In Their wisdom, they named your Attendants as well! Yes, yes . . .

You should have someone write this down.

<Cascheta,> you incant, <by the will of the All-Knowing, your purpose is to inscribe Their words to paper. Gungir, it is your duty to guard our sacred temple. Khiose, you are responsible for spreading word of the All-Knowing to the ignorant.>

With that, you settle down on your throne, the center of your pristine Wound, a marble cathedral beneath stars spiraling into a single point.

(-)

Khiose reports back, her thoughts sliding into your own:

As we knew already, most have not listened to the All-Knowing. However, there are . . . Complications. There appears to be a heretic priest that worships pain; Truth Is Written In Scars is its name. I could sense its Divinity from afar, I did not dare to approach it.

There also appears to be a plague spirit approaching it; perhaps they are allies? It has no Divinity, so I could only faintly grasp its nature.

Voting Time!
  1. Vanquish the heretic
  2. Approach the plague spirit; perhaps it could be converted?
  3. Convert the populous
  4. Write in
