Neon Genesis Arcangel (Title pending)

AHA! There we go! Yes, Uriel is the final Entity, so it goes like this:
Unit-00/Rei Ayanami = Raphael.
Unit-01/Shinji Ikari = Gabriel.
Unit-02/Asuka Langley-Sohryu = Michael.
Unit-06/Toji Suzuhara = Uriel.
Ah, Rei Ayanami. She's the girl that parodies the 'shy girl' trope right? But instead of that she became the woobie, someone that everyone wants to give a hug and support. I will keep my vote. Having Raphael around would be good for her, I think.

basically, but it goes A LOT deeper than that I promise you.

Wait, have you not seen Eva? Because if so, you should do so. Because it's a fantastic and classic anime, and you should avoid spoilers.

Pretty much all of NGE is Anno going "You know all those tropes and cliches in anime? PEOPLE DON'T WORK THAT WAY, YOU OTAKU FUCKS!" Then something horrible happens set to inappropriate (but good) music.

Yes, but it's also much more than that. If that were the extent of the depth of the show, people wouldn't still be analyzing and debating about it twenty years later.

And is a broken and horrible person. Asuka (the tsundere) is a self-sabotaging asshole to the person she can't bring herself to admit she likes. Rei (the kuudere) is an emotionally stunted near-sociopath. Shinji is an emotionally broken self-loathing child soldier.
yes, but they all still fulfill tropes in some way.

I thought that was because Anon was depressed at the time?
Then why continue to present them as such? Even into the rebuilds? Heck, 2.0 played it as straight as NGE ever did, and look how that ended. Anno has gone on record saying he hates what otaku culture has become since the 90s (he was on the team that made the Daikon 4 animation, which was a love-letter to nerddom in the 70s and 80s) and especially waifuism.

well I've never seen rebuild as everything DIES in Eva so why start again?

hmm...thing is; I haven't heard good things about it.

They are divisive movies. But most people enjoyed at least the first two. It was mainly the third one that splits people. Mainly because the first one is a near exact retelling on the first couple episodes through Ramiel with an updated budget, and two was mostly the same as the episodes up to Zeruel. The third one however has gone completely off the rails. I like it, but many don't.
