Nanoha spinoff - ViVid Strike!

From the looks of things, this anime is actually almost certainly something new, not a continuation of Vivid, and probably takes place in Vivio's adulthood. It seems to basically be the StrikerS of Vivid, and probably will NOT be focused on lolis.

There's a few big pieces of evidence for this:
1) Less than a year ago, Yukari Tamura, the VA of Nanoha herself, had a huge falling out with the record company that handles the series, so it's quite possible that she doesn't want to be involved with it any more.
2) The OP and ED are being sung by the VAs of two of the brand new characters (the VAs who voiced Carol in Symphogear GX and Rom in the Neptunia franchise), instead of Yukari Tamura and Nana Mizuki.
3) The logo in the teaser image just says "Vivid Strike: Thou shalt not be afraid I am with you", without the words "Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha", and the character in that image doesn't match the appearance of any previous character.
4) The cast list is missing quite a few characters who are important to Vivid, but also includes one character who first appears way, way later in the manga than where last year's Vivid anime cut off.

Also, thanks to 4chan, we now know what cars all the new characters are names after.

Fuuka Reventon = Lamborghini Reventón
Rinne Berlinetta = Berlinetta is a style of coupé.
Yumina Enclave (actually a manga character) = Buick Enclave
Jill Stola = Stola was an Italian company that designed cars.

This could either be a great revival for the franchise, or a massive trainwreck that's it's final nail in the coffin. Here's to being cautiously optimistic!

At least to me the draw of the Nanoha franchise is much more the crazy fantasy sci-fi setting and the "mecha-style magical girls" aesthetic then any specific characters. So seeing a smaller core cast makes me more optimistic, it means we might get a more streamlined narrative like A's.

I would note that while the shown character's physical appearance doesn't match up with any MGLN characters, that does pretty much appear to be Asteon (...or however it's spelled. Ein's snow leopard Device) sitting on her arm.

She seems to have Nanoha's hair, Einhart's Device and clothing color palette, Teana's vest, and the puffiest skirt we've seen in the series since Vita.

It isn't. Asteon has yellow-brown coloration, he looks more like a common leopard than a snow leopard that is supposed to be his inspiration. The kitten in the picture has black-white coloration and looks more like a snow leopard than Asteon ever did.

Voice actor replacements don't happen much in anime do they?

I wonder who, if anyone, will return besides maybe Vivio as a guess from the title.

From the announced voice cast so far, all the main characters of Vivid return (plus one character who debuts in the parts of the Vivid manga that haven't been translated yet), and the only characters who predate SSX who appear are Vivio herself and Nove.

Both are probably happening.

Remember that Seven Arcs never even wanted to animate Vivid, but the magazine in which Vivid is published is who had the final say on that (which is why A1 Pictures did it).

Vivid Strike is probably Seven Arcs' way of saying "fuck you, we're doing our own thing". Also, a preexisting contract probably is able to force Yukari Tamura to be in a season 2 of Vivid, but can't force her to be in any other future stuff, and Seven Arcs has probably learned from Force that introducing a new protagonist via a manga doesn't go over very well with fans.

So it seems we're getting street fighting and gang wars now.

Hah! Fu's first reaction to bullies - kick 'em in the privates! :p
Street fighting and gang wars seems apt, yeah, but I spotted a gun in the PV. Which means...it isn't Mid-childa, at a guess, or any Administrated world due to those being banned and illegal.

Then again, beating up criminals, so who knows.

Woah, wait, is the jogging girl with the multicoloured eyes one of those Vivid girls? The one with the Kaiser ancestor?
...Scratch that, she is! Same goes with Vivio herself. So it seems this isn't a spinoff, and...actually is set on Mid. Huh.

Wonder where it is in the timeline? Vivio seemed roughly the same age as Vivid going by the brief glimpse we had, so...0079 NC? Maybe a year or two later?

It could be that she's not a Mid native and only got involved after the local TSAB patrol pick up her magical signature.

Fu, you mean? I suppose that's plausible, yeah - so you're suggesting she was on an Unadministered world as an orphan, used magic against a local gang, and got picked up and taken to Mid by TSAB forces?

Guns are tightly regulated according to this magic dictionary entry to the point that it's practically impossible for civilians to get them but that private security companies usually have them and that smuggling is a thing so the guy could have gotten it that way. Or it could be a device since gunshaped devices exist.
