Muhkat Plays Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum Edition

Muhkat Lomorki

Draconic Sorcerer
Welcome to Muhkat Play Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum Edition!

So,recently, my computer has been acting fairly terrible. Without sound, I can't play Fallout 4, and while Dark Souls is definitely fun, I've played through that already and its fairly hard anyway.

So, to bide the time before I get a new computer, I've decided to do a let's play of Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum Edition. To start off, I'll let you make some choices as well as accept certain input, although other things I'll leave to my self.

First off, let's choose what campaign to do. Note that I won't be doing Mask of Betrayer, since it requires your character to be level 18. Still, we have a choice:
-[]Main Campaign
-[]Storm of Zehir
Also, if you want me to do a module, then I'll do that too. I don't have a Nexus account though, so unless it is available for downloading elsewhere, I won't be able to do it.
EDIT:Another thing, I'll let you decide if you want me to make the character or if you want to, so:
-[]SV Creates
-[]I Create

[x] Main Campaign
then
[x] Storm of Zehir

:D

How much time do you have before your new computer comes in?

Okay, so, no besides @StormLord has made any votes yet, so I don't know if there's anything to add. I can understand not a lot of people will be interested in this, but I do think some could at the very LEAST add something.

Anyway, typically before I even go into the main game, I play through the "Uninvited Guests" module because it has an item which is especially useful in the earlier parts of the game against. Now, I am not saying we have to do this, but I do think it would be useful.

Go for it; I don't think I've seen that module before?

I wanted to play through NWN2 myself a while back, but I was trying it through Parallels on a Mac and I kept on crashing. I think I was running out of memory...

I did manage to get through the prologue section years ago (and I've just realized how old I am now in comparison, :o ) but I was using cheats to make my ranger "more awesome". :oops:

It's just an example module added by the developer to "show" what one can produce with the toolset or something, and comes with the platinum edition. Nothing much, but there's some good items you can get which will make your time easier later.

Also, instead of cheats, I simply created epic-grade weaponry in the toolkit. Not that I'm going to do that, because I would be an asshole for doing that. Instead, I'll just go (mostly) by the books and hope not to lose.

[x] Storm of Zehir
I beat all three campaigns, but I don't remember anything about Storm of Zehir, for some reason.
It doesn't really matter to me who creates the character.

Thanks! Anything about the first part of that campaign?
Lesse for SoZ you will need a party member that can provide wide range skill check ( I believe the term is skill monkey?)
Most important skill are:
Survival: Affect your moving speed in overland map
Spot: Affect certain encounters
Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff
If I remember correctly those skills are the ones that used the most.
There is a bug somewhere in a map, where the skill check require to solve it is abnormally high around (900?) there should be a minor mod somewhere to fix that if you want to download it.

I might have to dig around to jog my memory but that's the general idea.
This is more spoiler-ish advice
For the first part of the game you will have no gear but thankfully your armor because your ship crashed.
You will need to perform several skill checks to get equipment for your party, I believe Survival, Healing, Craft Weapon and Craft Alchemy will give you some minor gear.
You can also talk to the NPCs to give you gear, they have a longbow and a longsword I think.
Choosing a Yuan-Ti Pureblood: You will not be detected as Yuan-Ti by the patrols.

So, it looks like I'll be doing Storms of Zehir!

For a start, let's create our first character:
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Race:
Class:
Alignment:
God:
Background Trait:
Highest Ability Score(Optional):
Dump Ability Score(Optional):
Backstory(Optional):
Note that I decided not to include all the information, but I think you can figure this out.

Age: 39
Race: Human
Class: Bard
Alignment: Chaotic Good
God: Pffft, screw that.
Background Trait: Artist
Highest Ability Score(Optional): Charisma
Dump Ability Score(Optional): Constitution

If you do this I will love you. Even though I have no whether it's even possible to make a bard that doesn't suck.

Must have a mustache.

Also, what do you think of a wizard with the "Mind Over Body" Background with the Highest Ability Score being Intelligence and lowest Constitution?

*checks backgrounds*

It sounds pretty good, but is also sounds like there's a caveat that Intelligence only scales health at level one, and the metamagic feats only give you one hit point, and there aren't a lot of those feats in the first place. I don't remember metamagic being all that useful either.

Okay, I've created the character and taken some screenshots. Currently, I'm uploading them so that you can see them!

Additional advice:
You can create a new character at logbooks, you can always change a character if you think you messed up/ want to try something new etc.
Suggestion: create a crafting character, I don't really remember SoZ crafting but it always help to have the option to do some crafting.
Make sure your game is in the latest patch, vanilla SoZ contains a lot of bugs, the most notable one is drowning aura perk in which your character will periodically takes damages, can't rest affects whole party.

So, my first actual entry, then. So, I've never done an LP before. For a start, however, I'll show the title screen:

Now, as I've probably mentioned, I've played this game before. I was never able to complete it, however, especially since I had Skyrim and Dark Souls. Currently, though, I think beating it would be a fine task.

Note that there is a multiplayer option. While I think it might be fun, I have never gotten it to work, and anyway, no one would be playing this old game.

However, now let's see Freddy Mercurius, Bard!

As a brief note, the character creation is fairly limited, but, as we'll see, isn't completely inflexible.

As you can probably tell, the appearance creator has NOT aged very well. While still somewhat more flexible than Morrowind, that isn't exactly saying much. Still, at least I can give my character a mustache.

I decided to give Freddy high levels of charisma as requested by @Reveen, As well as give him a decent boost in intelligence and wisdom, as he's an intellectual.
I forgot to mention that in this game, there was actually background traits which weren't related to background perks. So, I decided to give him the one which suited him best.

Due to being human, he got an additional starting perk. I decided to choose, with artist as his background perk, curse song. I wrote a short backstory, although I don't think its too good. Anyway, Freddy Mercurius is set to go in to Samarach!

Of course, we'll need other members. I've already created some characters, but I would like to see you create your own, so, again, the character sheet, with an extra Other category for things which I was too lazy to include:
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Race:
Class:
Alignment:
God:
Background Trait:
Highest Ability Score(Optional):
Dump Ability Score(Optional):
Backstory(Optional):
Other(Optional):
