Money and Power: A Xianxia Merchant Quest

It won't be heavenly diamond, if it's even possible the amount of Teotl you would need to make a full sized spear into a 6-linked diamond is astronomical, an order of magnitude at least more than what you did last time.
Would it be higher than four though, after the refinement (like getting to six or five from the refinement after we made it as high as we could)

[] Spend some money marketing the Elixirs as a safer, stronger, more convenient alternative to brewing your own (-$5, maybe higher income later).
[] Produce partially finished "mix-yourself" Elixir kits. The important work is already done for the customer, but they can add their own finishing touches if they want (slows and annoys production, maybe higher income later).
[] They want raw ingredients, so sell them raw ingredients. Profit margins are lower, but it's easy money.
Can we transfer the fortress or the products to the desert line? they don't want us and we can make a higher profit selling in the desert. We can try again when we are more stable.

We are already getting heavenly diamond body, if we can only protect and not attack, we will be vulnerable for the fact we can't finish the enemy while they can keep attacking.

Don't forget diamond is already one of the strongest defenses a transformation gives, diamond signify hardness and we have a perfect diamond, so our may be even tougher than the norm.

Protection doesn't cover the weakness diamond body leaves, namely, it not helping us fight back even if it helps us take strikes.
We just saw that our defense was completely insufficient. I don't have nearly the belief you do in the strength of the merging properties. You were counting on our Aura being an amazing effect too, but against any opponents that actually matter it seems of minimal use.

If you sell them raw ingredients you'll sell the products on the other line. At the moment you have more carrying capacity than product, so you won't increase profits by putting two fortresses on one line.

I didn't make it explicit, but the reason that water lance knocked the wind out of Chachi instead of drilling a hole through her torso was the technique weakening.

If it's refined diamond it will be higher order than unrefined.

Is it a problem of not having enough brewers? because otherwise we should just use the raw rescurses or can we just buy raw ingredients that we don't actually do anything with and still turn a profit.

Chachi didn't lose because she wasn't tough enough, she wasn't really damaged in that confrontation (beyond tiny dart stab), she lost since she was drawn into the ocean where she couldn't breathe and was bad at fighting, the author even said he protection prevented her from being seriously hurt.

A shield would have likely protected us by blocking the tentacle that drew us into the ocean, but I wouldn't exactly trust the protection of a weapon compared to what is considered one of the best defences merging traits.

I think protection will be most useful in the Tet confrontation, and if the ambush/dual we were warned about came early, as well as keeping our family safe in the future.

But if we make a weapon, I think it is pointless to focus on anything but making best weapon, making treasures for the expedition could be done next turn (there is make treasures action that would be useful) and we can make a shield for example, which I think will work better as a protection, maybe outer encasing of diamond steal with inner part of treasure that have the protection effect, but if you make a weapon that will be our main offensive option, why not make it as good as we can at what it does.

Do the production people think there's a risk of reverse engineering, or information leaking to rivals from this?

To give it a quick number rating (maybe I'll do that when I get around to the clan sheet, may reconsider exact numbers):

10 in transport logistics
7 in production
4 in sales

You're making enough elixirs to fulfill all current orders and send a full inventory off to random towns in the hopes of selling some of them. You sold your overstock but not your backstock and the Heavenspan Faucet is on again, so you're not really worried about running out even with the Desert selling well.

Logistics is high enough relative to sales that it's viable to just buy plants from the Farmer's Union and sell them in the Swamp, it's just not hugely profitable because you can't sell a crate of Spectral Turnips for the same price as the Invisibility Potions you'd make from them. If sales starts to meet logistics or you open up a more profitable region it becomes worthwhile to move the train.

The spear is made to be a compliment to Chachi, she may be able to imbue it so it's fully responsive to her will, moving fully of its own volition. "Flying Swords" are a signature weapon of certain combat paths, using them well requires specialized techniques, but she thinks she could put those techniques in the weapon itself.

[X]Thrice Refined
It will be much more 'alive,' potent, and nearly indestructible. It will have the top two features.

unsure bout the other stuff but this seems potent. The weapon would get all of the features except the true diamond one, making it a truly lethal "flying sword".

god i really wanna reforge chachi herself soon. actually start stacking those insane base stat modifiers.

In that case

It's pretty clear that increasing how durable you are is not a good defense in this setting. There's too many ways to deal with someone even if you can't just cut them in half. A weapon blocking a grapple is a very useful defense.

That assumes we have time for making a full set of equipment. We haven't had that so far, and I'm not going to count on it.

Would that actually be a problem, considering the Heavenspan River existing and her plans to improve the intake for a direct feed version.?

A Liminal Cultivator from the Paradise Hills. His path uses movement and illusion to confuse enemies. Previously in command of a Great Ship, he asked to be put on light duty to focus on raising his young son, who he plans to bring with him.

The bodyguard asking to bring his kid seems the least likely to be an assassin working for Tet.

[X] Produce partially finished "mix-yourself" Elixir kits. The important work is already done for the customer, but they can add their own finishing touches if they want (slows and annoys production, maybe higher income later).

This seems worth the effort to meet existing demand and might open up new markets.

Smiting is the obvious first pick as it seems to offer the strongest attack with additional power against our natural enemies.

Since we're Thrice Refining I think there's a strong argument for Connection. Thrice Refining makes it nearly indestructible, greatly reducing the value of True Diamond for the second pick, and makes it much more alive, thus increasing the benefits of Connection which allows it to act independently of us as an indestrucible, automonous bodyguard.

The most reliable option of the lot and likely the second most powerful as a former Great Ship commander.

This will be a good opportunity to diversify a little more into the raw materials market so if anything happens with our ability to provide elixirs this will act as a cushion.

The spear is a weapon and it would be best for it to excel at what it does than half ass as armor with Protection. We can refine ourselves some armor later once we discover diamond bodies weaknesses and can fashion armor specific to ourselves.

The mix e kits are a waste of time and money that doesn't solve the problem. If they don't trust the potions given them half finished potions won't do anything.

Finished potions offer convenience well they need trust

It worked irl with cake mix. It used to come with the egg pre-mixed, but in the 50s, house-wives stopped buying them because of a desire for home cooked food, so the companies took out the egg and started advertising mixing in the egg and decorating the cakes as sufficient participation.

What's our status on heavenly conduits anyway?

27 as of Oku's Armor (a quarter, so 9 spent out of 36?)

Think we spent 6 on the divination tools

I think we used 3 on our super diamond?
https://forums.sufficientvelocity.c...-a-xianxia-merchant-quest.74581/post-23978238

So down to 18, and and we're likely to be spending 5 on this given the vote trend.

Our restocking is 0-4 per year (only been 2 quarters so far), and can spend to get 1-6 more.
https://forums.sufficientvelocity.c...-a-xianxia-merchant-quest.74581/post-23535328

So important to keep in mind the spend rate on these - note that some of the stuff being wished for has some expensive costs too (e.g. geoworm = 8, and no idea what'll show in the future)

Yea, we soon may need to lay off with those, maybe once we have diamond mind, we can try making a divination technique to find them, might work since we have a heavenly diamond.

[X] Paitia - Path of the Three Poisons
A second stage Merging cultivator (Mind - Spirit) from the 1000 Rivers. Her path uses rare poison techniques to debilitate enemies. She volunteered for this duty, and seems to be a fan of your clan. Possible adoption?

[X] They want raw ingredients, so sell them raw ingredients. Profit margins are lower, but it's easy money.

Edit: vote change after gm clarification.

[X] Adaption
If she's clever enough with the riverways, she can integrate a number of 'switches' that let her channel a whole collection of treasure techniques, so long as they compliment the essences she used. It could change size, emit a burst of light, fire, or lightning, grab hold of an enemy's weapon, and more. No single effect will be as impressive, but nothing beats having the perfect tool for the job.

[X] True Diamond
She can make everything adhere to a diamond structure. This will strengthen the spear materially and give it some diamond properties, but it will refuse to take any form of treasure technique (there's an exception if it's Thrice Refined).

[X] Protection
She can give it a reactive shield that can activate on its own to protect Chachi and people she cares about. Most useful if she's ever ambushed, since it requires no conscious input.

[X] Connection
The spear is made to be a compliment to Chachi, she may be able to imbue it so it's fully responsive to her will, moving fully of its own volition. The Idea for the weapon is that it stays useful to us even if we reforge our core again - which we should do, it's our path's main thing, and I don't like the whole perfect order spiel.

Since we won't change our transformation for quite a while, I think it's important to have a weapon that suits our transformation.

And if we press the reforge the core button often, we likely will be weak a lot of the time.

A strong, defensively oriented weapon looks like the smartest choice for a cultivator who is weak a lot of the time. Even if it costs us.
