Money and Power: A Xianxia Merchant Quest

@Epic Bygones better the devil you know than the devil you don't...

Ok, no. I vote for what is more coherent according to character...

Chachi does not seem like a person who fire him or turn him in...

And imprison him... with the skills he has I fear he would escape

An absolutely stupid response when the risk is the extermination of the clan.

Better the cancer burned off than allowed to fester.

And as I said before, we picked Diamond as our thing. Purity, Purification, and Cleansing are absolutely things we would do.

Take the deal has the least support right now, and I feel any consolidation will heavily favor one of the other options. I'm confident you will be rejecting the deal and the real question is what exactly you'll do about Tet now. Several people have requested the option to ask others for advice so I'm adding a secondary flash vote. This vote will close late Monday while the main vote will remain open for at least another day after that.

Who do you want to tell about this, so you can get their advice and support, before you make a final decision?:

Shouldnt oku already know? She spends lile every secomd of every day with us.

She was with you for a lot of the poking around but if you don't vote for it you haven't shared your thoughts yet. The evidence is circumstantial and she hasn't seen absolutely everything you have.

Edit: Oku knows less about the family business than you do. You at least have been studying up (she's learning a bit through osmosis) and you grew up with a lot of your father's attention.

This quote would suggest otherwise:
[] Kill her

You don't have it in you. If The Spare was standing in this ring, then absolutely.
She would absolutely have killed him in a duel that she could have won without the need to kill him, and you think she wouldn't turn him in or even fire him? After he endangered us, the whole clan, and arguably the Empire or at least a lot of its citizens, by committing high treason out of greed?

Since a new vote is up:

She's the divination expert:
Chachi's brother had a surprise for her when she got back. He introduced her to a placid woman with blank grey eyes. There was a strange pattern in her irises, and under the Art of Evaluation she could read divinatory symbols. Prosthesis perhaps? Or a sign of an unusual foundation.

"Uehkaitta is one of our best divination specialists. She's both a state-reader and a fate-reader. Employees like her are vital to reading business trends and keeping in touch with the present state of the Clan. She should be able to answer many of your questions."

Her face remained utterly blank as she bowed and stood at attention.

"I have also taken the liberty of arranging a tour of the business. We'll have you meet the branch heads and see the business in operation for yourself. I cannot accompany you for most of it, but Uehkaitta here will."

Q&A Time! Uehkaitta isn't omniscient but she can answer many questions about the business and the state of the world in general.

What!? I understood it as: If The Spare was in the ring, then yes, he maybe would have killed Oku.

Btw, @Mr. Prokosch, with new votes the tally becomes very confusing...
We may have to do it manually...

I thought the same about if our player character was the second brother we could take the option to kill Oku. It proves that Tet gives zero shits about family but it doesn't say anything about Chachi or Oku. There was a quote where turning him in was in character for Chachi even if it meant he died because she views high treason as bad.

As for people to talk to we just put mom in charge of our public image and Teo did mention that removing our brother could effect the expansion so we should probably talk to both of them before anything happens. I would prefer to talk to Teo first and then bring in our mother to help manage the effects if we decide to remove him because I feel that I know our mother is going to throw him under the buss and try for the large sales position that she was denied in the last update but I don't know what Teo is going to want to do.

Even if her thoughts on the matter end biased, its is better than the sly old fox that is our mom, and Teo - whose excellent skills lead me to not believe him.

[X] Turn him in

I don't get the lost trust argument; so far the only this it looks like most of her family wants is for Chachi to smash cultivators for them while they run the company. If any of them did trust her to a noticeable extent then they would share more of their plans and desires with her instead of trying to manipulate her into fulfilling them.

If we're talking about trust from the employees as a whole, then we're starting at basically zero. Chachi hasn't been involved in anything, so she almost certainly has no informal internal support; it'll all be institutional or practical in nature. Minions worth keeping won't jump ship because their boss is following the law instead of playing games that could see them all killed.

The real risk here is that some members of her family won't like her as much; which is a shame, but if their affection is based so strongly on their ability to use her is it really worth keeping? Getting them to respect that she's actually in charge and that trying to manage her is a losing proposition is worth more in the long run.

[X] Turn him in
[X] Landspeeders

I am supporting Turn him in because I don't like it when real companies protect executives from the consequences of criminal acts. This is a crime that's going to get a lot of people killed, and we, as leader of the clan, weren't even going to benefit, so fuck him. Sure Teo tried to screw is, but he also offered us what he thought we wanted, freedom to focus on Self-improvement.

Fun question: are the people/giants dad set up his final trade with technically abyssals?

[X] Take the deal on your own terms
Also approval voting this because I suspect the Empire is just a teensy bit racist and Abyssals aren't so much bad dudes as foreigners.

The Abyssals are an undersea nation that rivals the Empire. How bad they actually are is hard to gauge, but they certainly took offense to the conquest of the Turtle Islands and have been involved in counter raids. All accounts show them not being humanoid but clearly inhuman, what with the gills and such. They don't call themselves Abyssals, they're named that because they come from "the abyss" a deep stretch of dangerous ocean.

An abyssal:

The Giant's people are not Abyssals, though he looks a bit inhuman too. There's no prohibition on trading with "beast land barbarians" but from an Imperial perspective they're a footnote, not worth thinking about. The only reason they haven't been conquered is because of the beast land's namesake. Many of the beasts found there are spectacularly powerful, including the First Beast, a Demigod.

Get someone useful and someone loyal involved. I personally like the profits we could get from the deal, but he's a fucking snake that wants our position so I don't trust that we can work with him. If he was the type to enjoy being the power behind the throne I'd trust working with him, but right now he's too big of a risk for something like this.
