Marinette's class gains a new classmate, one who is trying to learn the meaning of "I love you."
1.1
"Maarineeette. You're going to be late to school if you dont wake up." A familiar voice whispered softly into Marinette's ear. Marinette giggled softly and turned on her side. She had a long day yesterday dealing with a large bat akuma that turned people into fruits upon biting them.

"Five more minutes Maman." Marinette grumbled. As she held another pillow close to her chest. She wanted to reach the end of this dream for once. "Adrien~." He was so handsome and perfect.

The voice sighed. "You made me do this." Something bit Marinette's causing her to jump off of the bed with a yelp. Landing on the cold hard floor with a thud, Marinette groaned softly in pain.

"Really Tikki?" Marinette opened an eye and glared at the red kwami. Tikki only smiled in response and nuzzled her cheek.

"You're going to be late to school if you don't hurry now."

Late to school? Wasn't it a Sunday? Marinette glanced at her calendar which was covered in pictures of Adrien.

"Its a Monday? GAH!" Marinette jumped up and started to get changed. "Why did you wake me earlier?" Marinette exclaimed as she threw on her signature jacket and shirt. Alya was going to throw a fit if she was late again.

Tikki stared at Marinette blankly. "I've been trying to wake you up for the past hour." She giggled after that with a smile formed on her face.

"Do I have time for makeup?" Marinette stared at herself in the mirror, now fully dressed. She grabbed her lip gloss. "This should be all that I need."

Opening the attic door that led into the main house, Marinette opened her purse allowing Tikki to fly in. She would make it to school on time, without breakfast, as long as she didn't get into any accidents!

Too bad Marinette didn't have much luck whenever she wasn't transformed into Ladybug. She immediately ran into a rather tall customer with crimson hair as soon as she entered the bakery.

"I'm very sorry Madam." The man spoke in an accent that didn't sound French. Perhaps an American or an Englishman. He helped Marinette stand up slowly.

"You should be more careful Marinette." Maman said as she handed Marinette a bag filled with some pastry for breakfast.

Marinette blushed and bowed her head towards the crimson haired man with a ponytail. "I'm sorry!" She was definitely going to be late.

"No worries. I should have been paying attention to where I was going." The man said with a nervous smile as he scratched the back of his neck.

Marinette smiled in return when she felt squirming around her purse.

"Oh no I'm going to be late!" Marinette ran out of the bakery screaming as her parents waved goodbye.

She didn't notice the blonde girl standing outside the bakery who stood at attention.

Claudia Hodgins enjoyed civilian life. After a couple tours in Afghanistan with the French Foreign Legion, or the Légion Étrangére as the French call it, Hodgins decided that he missed civilian life. The smell of bread made his mouth water.

The FFL's provisions could never compare to Parisian bread.

"I'm sorry about that." Mrs. Sabine said as she placed the bread he had chosen into a bag. Born in the United States, Hodgins found it hard to call people monsieur or mademoiselle.

"No worries. I remember an age when I was like that." Hodgins smiled. If only a certain blonde girl could learn to act like a normal teenager.

Mrs. Sabine nodded with a smile of her own and held the bag out to him. Moving to take out his wallet, she interrupted him.

"It's on the house today, so no need to worry."

"A-Are you sure?" Hodgins took out his wallet. "I can pay-"

"I'm sure. Take it as thanks for your service." Mrs. Sabine placed the bag in his hands. How did she know? Hodgins didn't remember telling her.

"How did you know?"

Mrs. Sabine's eyes took a sad turn. "My husband, he has the same reaction that you have when surprised."

Hodgins' eyes widened. He didn't notice that his hands immediately went to a holster that wasn't there anymore. He coughed into his fist.

"I see. Well, thank you very much for the bread." He said. Mrs. Sabine nodded.

"Please come again soon."

With that, Hodgins stepped outside and sighed when he caught sight of his blonde companion.

"You don't have to stand at attention. We aren't in the military anymore."

Blue eyes only stared back at him as the blonde's form relaxed. "If you say so Lieutenant Colonel."

Hodgins rubbed his forehead and held out the bag of bread. "Stop calling me that now here, eat some bread for breakfast. I hear that this is one of the best bakeries in Paris."

The blonde slowly took the bag into her gloved hands. "I am not hungry. The oatmeal I ate this morning provided me with enough nourishment to last through the day."

Hodgins bit the inside of his cheek. "Eat at least one, that is an order."

The blonde saluted him and took out a croissant. She took a small bite, her eyes widening slightly. Hodgins smiled and reached to grab the bag, only for it to be taken out of his reach.

"Really?"

Her blue eyes revealed nothing. Then, the sound of a bell ringing interrupted them.

"Let's go. It's time for your first day of school." They walked across the street, the croissant still in her hand.

Hodgins formed a small smile.

If only Gilbert was here to see her.

Marinette barely made it to class on time, the bell ringing as soon as she sat down. Mlle. Bustier hadn't arrived yet, which meant that Marinette was rushing for no reason. Taking a bite of her pain de chocolat, she listened to Alya rant about the fight with the akuma last night.

"I can't believe I was asleep while Ladybug was out there kicking ass!" Alya sighed with her head in her hands.

"You always have next time. Maybe you could try to get another interview?" Marinette suggested. She loved Alya, but she really needed to relax a bit. Marinette turned her eyes to Adrien, who was happily chatting with Nino.

Alya's response was interrupted by Mlle. Bustier entering the classroom with M. Damocles right behind her.

"Settle down class. M. Damocles has an announcement to make." Mlle. Bustier smiled widely.

"Thank you Caline." M. Damocles coughed slightly. "I'm proud to say that your class will have a new student!" The class immediately started whispering with excitement. Oh no, what if another Lila joined?! Marinette could barely handle one!

"Come on in, my dear, no need to be shy." M. Damocles smiled as he faced the door. A beautiful, blonde girl with blue eyes immediately walked into the classroom. Dressed in a white shirt and a green skirt, her bright eyes felt rather dull as she stared at the class with a blank face.

"Go on, introduce yourself." Mlle. Bustier said.

The blonde girl's stance immediately stiffened, and she formed a salute with a gloved hand before relaxing again. She looked like a doll from Marinette's collection. As if an akuma brought one of them to life and placed this girl in Marinette's class.

"Hello…"

Her expressionless eyes seemed to analyze the class.

"My name is Violet Evergarden."

1.2
Marinette was confused by her newest classmate. Violet Evergarden had an unnatural beauty, even without a smidge of makeup on her pale face. Violet introducing herself with a salute only made Marinette more curious, especially with how proper the actual salute was. She had seen Papa do it plenty of times, enough to know if one's form was drilled in from experience, or a casual salute done by someone who had never done it before.

Violet had done it perfectly, with a mechanical precision, her arm bent at just the right angle. Marinette felt Tikki poke her through the purse. However, the most striking aspect of Violet wasn't her accent, beauty or outfit which complimented her figure.

It was her eyes. A bright blue that stared at the class with a dull expression, no doubt analyzing each of Marinette's classmates for weaknesses. Marinette had seen eyes like hers only once before.

Violet's eyes reminded Marinette of her Papa. But how? Papa had served with the Légion Étrangère up until Operation Septentrion, being wounded and sent back home with a medal for his efforts. Papa never spoke of his time there, his eyes glazing over whenever Marinette asked a question. Why did Violet's eyes remind Marinette of her Papa?

Alya elbowed Marinette in the ribs. "Stop staring. She kinda looks like a mixture of Chloe and Adrian if you think about it." Alya whispered. Marinette narrowed her eyes and nodded. They only had blonde hair in common, but she did have blue eyes like Chloe and Violet's hair was a couple shades lighter. Violet's features didn't exactly scream French though, perhaps she was German or from Scandinavia?

"Are you from the Evergarden family that's related to the Bougainvillea's?" Chloe blurted out, shocking her fellow classmates. Did Chloe know her? Hopefully Violet wasn't another Chloe or Lila. Those two already caused Marinette a lot of trouble with the amount of akumas they create. Noticing her classmates' stares, Chloe scowled. "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous! How do any of you not know the Evergarden or the Bougainvillea family!?"

Adrien slowly raised his hand. "I know Father has done some business with them." He was promptly ignored by Chloe.

"They're one of the richest families in all of France. The Bougainvillea's are the descendants of nobility!" Of course Chloe would know that. Did she forget that they beheaded nobles? Marinette couldn't stop herself from giggling.

Violet's expressionless face didn't reveal anything, and after a moment, nodded slowly. "I am legally Mrs. Tiffany Evergarden's daughter." Mrs and not Mlle? She was definitely not a natural French speaker then.

"Any questions you have for Violet can be saved for later as we still have class today." Mlle. Bustier said, her smile never leaving her face. She turned to Violet. "You can have a seat in the back next to Nathanial. Would that be ok with you?"

Chloe slammed her hands on the table. "No! She's sitting next to me as befitting her social background! Finally someone who is on my level in this, besides Adrikins, unlike you mongrels."

"Hey!" Kim shouted. Adrien sighed and shook his head.

"You need to be nicer to people, Chloe." Adrian was so smart and nice. Marinette bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from smiling.

Chloe ignored all of them and glared at Sabrina who was sitting next to her. "Move." The orange haired girl with glasses immediately started gathering her belongings.

"Thank you for the offer, but there is no need. I do not wish to be an inconvenience to anybody." Violet spoke softly, not a single trace of emotion in her voice. She turned to Mlle. Bustier and M. Damocles. "Thank you." M. Damocles simply smiled in response and left the room without another word.

With a gloved hand, Violet carried her bag towards the back and sat next to a nervous Nathanial. Marinette smiled as Mlle. Bustier began to teach the class.

So far she was nothing like Chloe. Now it was time to see if she was like Lila.

Marinette froze.

What if they just gained another Kagami? NOOOOO-

Class went by quickly in Violet's opinion. She liked her seat in the back, it allowed her to get a view of the entire classroom should any threats occur. She had already detected four potential threats. The girl with pigtails near the front, as well as the girl sitting beside her. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Alya Cesaire if Violet's memory was correct, and it usually was. Violet remembered everything after being taken in by the Major. Judging by the way Ms. Dupain-Cheng and Ms. Cesaure sat, they had some form experience in combat.

Violet's life before joining the military was a bit blurry. The other two threats being Adrien Agreste and Chloe Bourgeois. Violet's research before coming to class said that Mr. Agreste was in the fencing club with some skill. She would complete her analysis once she had more information.

Chloe Bourgeois was the biggest threat at the moment. She had declared herself to be the 'superhero' Queen Bee to the world, and caused several accidents just to paint herself as a hero. Violet would have to keep a close eye on her.

"Isn't it hard writing in gloves?" The boy sitting next to Violet asked. Violet stopped writing, and turned her gaze towards him.

"It is. Thank you for reminding me." Violet held one of her gloves to her mouth, and pulled it off with her teeth, revealing her prosthetic arm. Pulling off her other glove, she placed it on the desk beside her notebook. Flexing her metal fingers to make sure they were functional, Violet grabbed her pen when she felt the gaze of several people. Looking up, Violet noticed the entire class turning to look at her with shocked expressions. Was she too loud? She would have to fix that.

"I-I'm sorry." Nathanial mumbled as he stared at her hand. "H-How did you-"

"How did I lose my arms?" Violet stared at her left hand, its shiny metal showing her reflection.

"I lost them during the war in Afghanistan."

A/N

Fun fact, Keith Silverstein plays Gabriel Agreste/Hawkmoth in Miraculous and Dietfried Bougainvillea in Violet Evergarden.

Are you enjoying the story so far?

1.3
"Y-You were in Afghanistan?" Nathaniel blurted out, his eyes wider than before. Was such a fact that impossible to believe? Violet simply nodded in response. She did just say she lost them in the war, she didn't need to repeat herself. Captain Dietfried Bougainvillea assigned her to work with Major Gilford as his personal weapon, but her classmates didn't need to know that.

"Why were you there?" Violet heard someone ask. She turned her head to look at the boy with the red hoodie.

"Kim! You don't ask someone a question like that." A girl with short red hair slapped the athletic asian boy on the shoulder. The boy they called Kim, while muscular, could be disposed of easily should he ever become a threat. Violet had killed stronger men at a younger age with just her bare hands. His friend Alix, could also be neutralized easily. Violet shook those thoughts out of her head internally. She was discharged from the Legion with honors, Lieutenant Colonel Hodgins said she didn't have to fight and kill anymore. Those were the Major's orders, he said. Go to school, make friends and live a happy life. But, how could she be happy when the Major wasn't here?

"I was sent there." Violet said plainly, her monotone voice echoing throughout the classroom. Even Mrs. Bustier was silent. The class would have to be delayed by a few minutes now. Violet would need to become more efficient.

"On a business trip?" A tanned skin boy with headphones around his neck asked, Nino Lahiffe. He was from Morocco apparently.

Lt. Colonel Hodgins orders regarding questions such as these was to give vague answers. They would find out in a few days when Mayor Bourgeois held his press conference celebrating the veterans that had returned to France. Violet and Lt. Colonel Hodgins were invited to attend. Hm, she would have to stop calling him Lt. Colonel since he also left the Legion. He also made that an order.

"Something like that." Violet turned her attention back to her notebook. She would have to make up for lost time once school was over. She had a few hours before she was supposed to meet up with the Lt. Colon-

"I love you." Major Gilford gave Violet a smile even as blood coated half of his face.

"Now now class. I'm sure many of you have questions for Violet, but we're in class right now. You can ask her later during lunch." Mrs. Bustier said, forcing Violet out of her thoughts.

Violet's eyes were drawn to her right arm which was shaking lightly. Was there something wrong with it? She would have to perform a maintenance check on it once she had a chance. Raising her eyes towards the board that held the information that Violet needed to write down, she released a breath that she didn't realize she was holding in.

Major Gilford...where are you?

Eventually, the lunch bell rang. Marinette groaned as she stretched her arms. Today was a good day so far. There was no akuma in sight thankfully, and she hadn't embarrassed herself in front of Adrien again!

"Where should we go for lunch today? Your parents' bakery?" Alya packed up her belongings. Most of the class had already left, with Chloe dragging Adrien away before anyone could say anything. Mlle. Bustier shooed everyone that wanted to ask Violer a question saying that they could do it outside. She probably wanted some peace and quiet.

"Nah. You get bored of eating sweets or bread if you live in a bakery." Marinette closed her backpack and tapped her purse. She would have to sneak Tikki a cookie soon for lunch.

"How about that cafe we have been wanting to try? The one by the new news station." Alya suggested as she slung her bag over her back.

"Sure." Marinette glanced towards the back of the room. Violet was sitting alone reading one of the school's textbooks, her dull, blue eyes scanning each page diligently. "Let's invite her to come and eat with us!"

Alya flashed Marinette a worried smile. "Are you sure, girl? She seems like she wants to be alone."

"Of course. I'm the class president and it's my job to make sure she's comfortable! Strangers are just friends you haven't made yet after all." Marinette gave her a large smile. Dragging Alya towards the back of the room, Violet looked up from her book.

"Hi Violet! Nice to meet you. My name is-"

"Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Miss Alya Cesaire." Violet interrupted respectfully, her light blue eyes making contact with Marinettes. She saved her page in the book and closed it.

"You know our names?" Alya asked as she raised an eyebrow.

"Of course. Miss Dupain-Cheng designed an album cover for Jagged Stone. He's my guardian's favorite musician so I know quite a bit." Violet said softly. She turned to Alya. "He's also a fan of the Ladyblog."

"Tiffany Evergarden is a fan of Jagged Stone?" Alya asked excitedly as she pulled out her phone. This better not turn into an interview!

"I am not sure. While Mrs. Evergarden is legally my mother, I am under the care of former Lieutenant Colonel Hodgins at the moment." That sounded like a weird arrangement.

"Does that mean you're an illegitimate child-"

Marinette elbowed Alya in the side. "Hey! You don't ever ask someone that."

Alya blushed and rubbed the back of her neck. "You're right." She bowed her head towards Violet. "I'm sorry."

"There is no need to worry, and the answer to your question is no." Violet said.

"Anyways!" Marinette interjected before Alya could ask another question. "We were wondering if you would like to eat lunch with us?"

Violet blinked slowly. "Thank you for the offer, but I must decline. I already ate the proper amount of nutrients I need to keep working throughout the day."

"What?! You need to eat lunch! It is the third most important meal of the day after breakfast and dinner!" Marinette exclaimed. Was she sick? Did Violet have some sort of condition?

"I was trained to be able to work long hours without food or water." Violet seemed like she was about to say something else when her phone started ringing.

"Please excuse me for a moment." Violet answered the phone. She immediately stood up and stood at attention. Marinette couldn't make out what the person on the other end said, and Violet's expression never changed.

"Yes sir, it is my break now." The person on the other end spoke again. "Very well."

Violet ended the call not even a second later. Glancing at the two of them, she paused.

"Is the invitation still open?"

Marinette couldn't stop herself from smiling.

I'm having a lot of fun writing this story. The hardest part is getting Violet right, but it should be a fun challenge.

Early Violet E. would be far more blunt in this part, the first half of the series she didn't knew any social cues nor had the slightiest amount of empathy or tact. Instead of "Is the invitation is still open." which is the kind of thing she would say more like at the middle of the series when she learned how to succesfully do politeness she should be saying something like "I have been directed to spend time with peers" or something to that effect.

You're quite right. It'll be explained next chapter. Congrats on being the first person to reply to the thread so far! It means a lot

I am excited to see this story, if only because I recently got to see the last evergarden movie. I am not terribly familiar with the Miraculous Ladybug setting, but I do wonder about how Violet will react to the Youma and how she can influence the main cast.

Violet possesed by an akuma is frankly terrifying. She is not emotionless, quite the opposite, a person that due to her upbringing and the terrible things she saw during her childhood and teenage years can't understand her feelings or the feelings of others. When she learns how to emote she's usually overwhelmed by the feelings and shows how devastated she is by the lost of her first love.

Any akuma that uses her is going to have nightmarish abilities and the potential of being far more destructive we have seen so far.

....I didn't think of that but that is very true. Welp, good bye France. And thank you for the correction, I didn't know that was the proper term.

Noticed a typo on the thread title I've never heard of a show called miraculous ladyb i g before lol

I like t so far, but quick question…. I've heard of violet evergarden…. But who exactly is she and is the series any good?

Hodgins was nervous. Actually, that was the understatement of the entire century! Hodgins was downright terrified. Pacing around his office while chewing on his thumbnail, he kept glancing at the clock. Was it lunchtime yet at Violet's school? Was she making any friends? Has she killed anybody yet? Violet had extraordinary reflexes, but could she be able to control them?

I-Is she having fun? Gilbert's wish was for Violet to live a normal, happy life, to make friends and finally be a normal girl, not a soldier. Hopefully everything will be fine. Gilbert would know what to do. During the war, Hodgins had only met Violet a few times. Most of what he knew about her exploits on the battlefield were from other soldiers, and what Gilbert had decided to share with him. Still, Hodgins assisted Violet when she was in the military hospital, and he would care for her as if she was his own! He promised Gilbert, it was the least Hodgins could do for his old friend.

Hodgins never noticed someone entering his office.

"If you keep pacing around your office you're going to end up with a ditch."

Hodgins flinched and grabbed his right hand with his left. It kept trying to reach for a gun that was not there. He still had to sleep with noise canceling headphones whenever someone decided to light fireworks.

"You know you shouldn't scare me like that, Cattleya." Hodgins sighed and glanced at the clock again.

"I'll make sure to make a note of that, Claudia." Cattleya smirked as the buxom woman sauntered up to him. Hodgins bit his lip from making a retort. "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue? Don't tell me you're still embarrassed that your parents were expecting a girl and ended up with you instead." She teased.

"No! It's Violet that I'm worried about. Besides, shouldn't you be getting ready? Your session starts soon." Cattleya was his star news reporter, and the reason they got many viewers to tune in.

Cattleya waves him off. "I have a few minutes to spare." Her eyes softened. "It's Violet's first day of school right?"

Hodgins nodded. "It should be lunchtime about now. I hope she actually eats instead of coming up with an excuse like she always does. I had to order her to eat bread for breakfast!"

"Why don't you call her to check?" Cattleya asked as she sat on his desk, legs crossed. Hodgins scratched the back of his head. That actually sounded like a good idea!

"That's a great idea!" Hodgins pulled his phone out of his pocket. Dialing Violet's number, Hodgins didn't have to wait long for her to respond.

"Hey Violet! Is it your lunchtime yet?" Hodgins said before she could answer.

"Yes sir, it is my break now." She had better not be standing at attention.

"Good. Now I want you to go and eat lunch, no excuses! That's an order. Has anyone asked you to go eat lunch with them yet?"

Violet's silence was all that Hodgins needed to know.

"Go and ask them if the invitation is still open. Gilbert wanted you to make friends." Hodgins sighed. Violet was going to cause him to go grey early.

"Very well." Was all that Violet said and the call ended.

"I swear that girl is going to be the end of me." Hodgins flopped onto his chair. Cattleya was attempting to hold in her laughter, and failing badly.

Just as she was about to open her mouth, a knock came at the door.

"Come in." Hodgins sat up and fixed his tie. Cattleya jumped off of the desk and straightened her short dress.

A short American girl with light brown hair and glasses walked in. Glancing at the two of them, she adjusted her glasses and cleared her throat.

"They're ready for you downstairs, Mrs. Cattleya." Erica said, bowing her head slightly.

"I see. Thank you, Erica!" Cattleya gave the bespectacled girl a smile and moved to leave. She paused at the door and turned her head towards Hodgins.

"Have some faith. I'm sure Violet will adapt quickly." Cattleya and Erica left after that, leaving Hodgins alone in his office.

Maybe he was overreacting, still he just couldn't shake the feeling off. How would Violet react to an akuma? Would she back off and allow Ladybug and Cat Noir to handle the job? Or would she jump in to help?

Sadly, Hodgins already knew the answer to his question.

Marinette decided that she liked Violet. Despite being a girl of few words and not really showing any expressions on her face, Marinette could tell that deep down, Violet was a kind person. She was a bit quiet, only speaking when spoken to, but that could be fixed in no time! Kagami was one of Marinette's friends, so she was used to the cold expressions and responses.

"How long were you in Afghanistan?" Alya asked as the trio walked the street. The cafe by the new news station was only a few minutes walk away from school.

"About a year and a half." Violet answered immediately, with the same expression she had when she introduced herself to the class. Marinette wanted to slap Alya on the back of her head, but the French-Creole stood to the other side of Violet.

"Where are you from?" Marinette asked as they crossed an empty street. Hopefully Hawkmoth could keep his akumas to himself today.

"If you mean my ancestry, then I believe that my DNA results said that I am of German and Norwegian ancestry." That easily explained her blonde hair and blue eyes. "If you mean where I was born and grew up, then I am not sure."

Marinette could only nod in response, not wanting to press more. She didn't want to alienate Violet by asking too many questions. Her eyes were drawn to the beautiful green brooch that was on Violet's shirt. It didn't look like a French design.

"How are you enjoying class so far?" Alya started typing on her phone as she walked.

"I have never been to school before, so I'm afraid that I have no other experiences to compare it to."

Wait a minute. Was this Violet's first day of school ever? This could only mean one thing.

They had to throw Violet a welcome party.

Yay!

I love writing this story despite the lack of views. It's something that I can't hold in so Ill try to keep writing until I lose inspiration.

I love writing this story despite the lack of views.
Aww, this story ain't bad, maybe it's because the crossovers of the two IPs are rare or maybe even this one is first to do it? I myself almost skipped it cause I don't really care for Miraculous Ladybug, but then Violet Evergarden was also there so I just had to go read through. This story is a nice refreshing rest from the Doom and gloom and the cliffhangers that other stories have

You know seeing how affected is Hodgings by the war and how worried he is about Violet being on a similar situation makes me think that the only saving grace of her rather inhumane upbringing is that while at the beginning of the series she was unable to feel empathy, relate with other people outside regimented or ritualized interactions, or simply take care of herself beyond the most basic physical care is that she never experienced PTSD despite loud sounds, people acting agressive in front of her, fairly intense combat in a the middle of a train or doing a combat paradrop behind enemy lines, unarmed.

She was so used to warfare that other than the death of her beloved the war itself was almost unremarkable from her PoV despite being the spearhead of an special forces strike team.

I'm so glad this story exists!

Violet Evergarden fan stories are a rarity! I hope it doesn't just die before getting into the meat of things...

"About a year and a half."

Quite an awfully short time for her to be in active duty. I would have thought for her to be on the field for like 2 years at minimum.

I'm guessing the rest are just classified?

:???:

I'm a little late to the party, but I think this is an interesting start to a fic. I have just went through the main series of Violet Evergarden, and I was wondering if there was a crossover fanfiv here at SV. Glad I found one. :)

1.5
The trio reached the cafe soon after passing Lieutenant Colonel Hodgin's news station. Marinette seemed to be on the clumsy side, considering Violet had to pull her back to the sidewalk before a car could run her over. Was this really the girl who Violet initially named as one of the biggest threats in her class? Yes, Marinette was most likely faking her clumsiness. Violet had learned to not take everything at face value during the war. Anything or anyone could be a threat, even those who seemed harmless. The suicide bombers had proven that early on into Violet's tour. Violet opened the door for the other two girls, quickly analyzing the patrons currently drinking coffee or eating a meal.

None of them seemed to be a threat, and could be disposed of easily should they show themselves to be enemies. Violet would have to memorize the Parisians who were often akumatized into villains. Many said that lightning never struck twice, too bad the same couldn't be said about Hawkmoth and his akumas. More reconnaissance would be needed to fill in the rest of the picture.

The akuma known as Mr. Pigeon often struck about once a month now, sometimes more. Hawkmoth didn't seem to be very creative if he kept using the bird obsessed man. There was one question that kept popping up in the back of Violet's mind.

Why hasn't the government stepped in? Paris was being threatened by a super powered terrorist, and their only response was to allow Ladybug and Chat Noir fight their battles. Why didn't they deploy the Garde Nationale? Were they afraid that Hawkmoth would get his hands on military equipment?

"Do you smell that?" Marinette exclaimed as she took a deep breath with Alya doing the same. The two girls started giggling. "Sandwiches."

Violet took a small sniff. The air smelled normal, and was an improvement from her gunpowder smelling comrades, but she did detect hints of Parisian bread. Nothing stood out to Violet. She followed the two girls inside the cafe silently.

"How long have you been in Paris?" Alya asked as they waited in line to order their lunch. Violet pulled her eyes from the menu written in French.

"I arrived a month ago." Violet answered simply. She arrived in France a few months ago, spending her time at a military hospital in the countryside as she went through physical therapy for her new arms.

"Oh cool. Are you enjoying the change in scenery? Paris is known as the city of love for a reason." Alya nudged Marinette in the side who started blushing after mumbling something under her breath.

In all honesty, Violet hadn't been paying attention, though she did notice the differences in architecture between France and Afghanistan. France seemed like an alien world compared to the war torn country Violet had served in. Most of the buildings looked old and were in one piece.

"I haven't noticed, though I do find the way Paris is built quite interesting when compared to Kabul." Violet replied bluntly. She would need to continue practicing her French once she returned to her quarters, she almost messed up a word there.

The two girls froze at the mention of Kabul, which didn't go unnoticed by Violet. Were all teenagers like this? Violet's research indicated that teenagers liked to talk a lot, so she was briefed on what information to reveal, and what should be kept out of public knowledge.

"Oh look, it's our turn to order!" Marinette stuttered nervously as they reached the front of the line. Violet simply turned her attention back to the menu as the two girls started ordering first.

What would the Major want?

Marinette ate her quiche silently, not because she wanted to mind you, it was due to her staring at Violet's metal fingers as they delicately held a fork. Violet decided to grab a salad, while Alya decided to get the sandwich of the day. Marinette had heard of advanced prosthetics such as the ones Violet had. Max gave the class a long speech talking about the difference the prosthetics could make once they were more widespread.

"So what's the deal with this Hodgins guy you mentioned earlier. I thought you were an Evergarden." Alya asked after taking a bite of her sandwich. Violet was in the middle of biting a rather delicious looking tomato, bringing a napkin up to her face as she gently lowered her fork.

"He is currently acting as my guardian dealing with my day to day affairs. Mrs. Evergarden legally adopted me as a favor to Lieutenant Colonel's Hodgins' comrade." Violet said without a hint of emotion in her voice, her facial expressions indifferent. "Former Lieutenant Colonel I mean." She added.

Marinette's mouth formed an O as Alya started typing something on her phone.

"Do you mind if I post this on my blog-"

"I would appreciate it if you didn't." Violet's emotionless reply sounded harsh, but that must have been Marinette's mind. Marinette was inclined to agree with Violet. That was a family matter that was no one else's business, even if it was the Evergarden family.

"Yeah Alya! Violet's showing us a lot of trust by telling us this." Marinette said, taking another bite of the delicious quiche. "I thought you ran the Ladyblog, not High Society magazine."

Alya started blushing and nodded her head. "You're right. I'm sorry Violet, I shouldn't have asked."

Violet gave a simple nod in return and went back to eating her tomato, causing another silence to fill the table. Marinette was in the middle of taking another bite when she felt Alya kick her under the table. Yeah, she was going to get a talking to once they made it back to school.

The door to the cafe slowly opened, the bell ringing softly.

"Violet? What are you doing here? Are these your friends?" A familiar male voice spoke in accented French. Violet immediately stood up and saluted, causing the entire cafe to look at them awkwardly. Slowly turning around to see who was speaking, Marinette felt the heat rush through her cheeks.

It was the man she ran into this morning.

None of my stories die. I just get lazy and get inspired to write other stories. I'm working on about 5-6 at the moment. Half of this chapter was finished about a month ago. I wanted to finish it before the year was over so here it is!

1.6
Hodgins was a very busy man. He ran a news company, had to deal with those jerks from the network, make sure Benedict was always on his best behavior, and he had to take care of Violet. The first three things were the easiest, there was no doubt about that. Raising a teenager who was trained to be a human weapon as a normal girl was definitely going to be the hardest part of Hodgins' life. Still, he promised Gilbert that would take care of Violet should something ever happen to him, and Hodgins always kept his promises.

It was just going to be a bit difficult. Even running into gunfire would seem like an easy thing to do, but Hodgins didn't reach the rank of Lieutenant Colonel just because he liked taking the easy route. Hopefully Violet was getting along with her new classmates. Glancing at the stack of papers sitting on his desk, Hodgins groaned softly. He has a lot of work that needed to be done before he picked up Violet from school. Grabbing the paper that was sitting on top of the desk, Hodgins was halfway done reading the proposal sent by the Agreste company when he heard a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" Hodgins sighed as he started rubbing his forehead. Gabriel Agreste wanted to run ads during their afternoon news block. The fashion designer had something up his sleeve, Hodgins was sure of it. Gabriel Agreste never approached anybody first. What was the catch?

The door creaked open and a young man with blond hair and blue eyes sauntered in. Dressed in a loose beige shirt, tight leather pants and boots that looked like they belonged on Cattleya, Benedict Blue looked as flashy as a cameraman could be.

"You already know it's me, Boss." Benedict said in English, smirking as he stretched his arms. His smirk then disappeared as his gaze turned serious, sending a slight shiver down Hodgins spine. It seemed he wasn't going to get much work done now. "You owe me lunch."

Hodgins raised an eyebrow and turned his attention back to Agreste's letter. "No I don't. Besides, shouldn't you be out in the field with Iris? Every reporter needs their cameraman."

"Nope. I told Roland to go help her out today." Benedict's smirk returned. Hodgins sighed softly and placed the letter back on his desk. It seemed that Benedict was abusing his 'founding member' card again.

"Out of all our cameramen, why did you send the oldest? Roland's not as young as he used to be." Hodgins was going to get a headache at this rate.

"The old man will be fine." The German slammed his hands on Hodgins desk dramatically. "You owe me lunch! I know you took Cattleya out yesterday and you even bought Roland lunch last week! This is favoritism, this is an unhealthy workspace and I demand-"

"Fine, fine." One of Hodgins' veins felt like they were going to pop. He glared at the younger man. "You'll be lucky if there isn't another akuma attack. You know how much Iris loves chasing after those."

"Eh, Ladybug can handle it." Benedict shrugged. "Now let's go. There's a cafe right across the street and I hear they have the best quiche in all of Paris "

"Let me get my coat." Hodgins sighed for the hundredth time that day. "I'll let Lux know that I'll be out for lunch."

Hopefully Benedict wouldn't ask about getting a raise.

It turned out that when Benedict said the cafe was across the street, he literally meant it. Hodgins really should take a day off and explore the city. He had spent most of his time in Paris getting his news company set up, and handling any legal matters regarding Violet with Mrs. Evergarden's help.

"So Boss, about that raise I've been asking about-"

"Oh look we're here!" Hodgins sliced into Benedict's sentence as they walked towards the door of the small cafe. While Tom and Sabines Boulangerie Patisserie smelled of freshly baked bread, the cafe smelled of freshly roasted coffee and sandwiches.

Quickly opening the door before Benedict could get another word in, Hodgins was greeted to the sight of a familiar blonde. Seated at a table in the corner that had a clear view of whoever was entering, two girls sat with Violet. The first had reddish-brown curly hair which matched her darker skin color, while the second girl had bluebell hair that was tied into two pigtails, her back facing Hodgins.

"Violet? What are you doing here? Are these your friends?" Hodgins couldn't stop himself from blurting out in French. Was Violet actually making friends? Was this a breakthrough? Why wasn't Gilbert here to see this?

Violet immediately stood up and delivered a perfect salute, smashing whatever hopes Hodgins had built up. The girl in pigtails slowly turned around, revealing matching blue eyes, her cheeks immediately turning a shade of red. Wait a minute.

Wasn't that the girl who ran into him this morning at the bakery?

"Mr. Hodgins sir!" At least she didn't say Lieutenant Colonel this time. She gave Benedict a glance. "Mr. Blue "

"At ease, Violet." Hodgins sighed as he walked up to their table, putting on his business smile. The Parisian's eating their lunch looked away. Benedict gave Violet a wave before heading towards the counter to look at the menu. "Who are your friends Violet?" He gave them both a nod.

"I'm Alya Césaire. So you're the Hodgins guy that Violet was talking about." The girl with the reddish-brown hair said. Now that surprised Hodgins. Why were they talking about it.

"I am." Hodgins replied, his smile still on his face. Turning towards the blue haired girl he spoke.

"You're Tom and Sabine's daughter right?"

The bluebell girl's head immediately dropped forward and fell right into her hands.

"Uh, I think you broke Marinette Mister."

Nothing much happens in this chapter. I wanted to show Hodgins POV and how I've merged the world of Violet Evergarden with Miraculous. Will it work 100%? Maybe maybe not, but it won't stop me from trying.

I'm surprised by this story! On SpaceBattles/Sufficient Velocity/FF. net it's underperforming when compared to my other stories, yet on AO3/Wattpad it is doing extremely well, even better than my "top" stories.

Thank you to everyone who likes/favorites/follows/kudos and comments! I really appreciate each and every one of you.

I'm planning on writing another story, this time a Frozen/Star Wars crossover featuring an Inquisitor Elsa. It's not 100% set in stone, but just know that I will never abandon this story. I just take long breaks.

Even running into gunfire would seem like an easy thing to do,
I think you mean easier.
"Fine, fine." One of Hodgins' veins felt like they were going to pop. He glared at the younger man. "You'll be lucky if there isn't another akuma attack. You know how much Iris loves chasing after those."

"Eh, Ladybug can handle it."
That is a very dangerous overconfidence on a heroine. Yes, she can handle it but the attitude only complicates the battles against the Akuma.

Edit: For an spectator or bystader is quite dangerous to think a fight can be harmless even before considering that Hawmoth got no problem targeting even tottlers and most of his Akuma are equally unconcerned about collateral damage.

"Uh, I think you broke Marinette Mister." Alya said. Violet turned her head towards the blue haired girl, who seemed to be mumbling something into her hands. How abnormal, Marinette didn't look broken, and if she was, how would the Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Hodgins she meant, have done it without even laying a finger on the younger girl?

Parisians were a weird people, but then again, the way most people acted outside of the FFL was foreign to Violet.

"Oh, uh, sorry?" Mr. Hodgin's rubbed the back of his neck, a smile on his face. Benedict stood behind him, as confused as Violet was, albeit the older man's face was just a tad more expressive.

"Violet was just telling us all about you!" Alya continued. Marinette was still mumbling into her hands, her ears a shade of red. Was she angry or embarrassed? Or did she have high blood pressure that caused her ears to change colors?

"Oh really, all good things I hope." Benedict spoke up this time. Violet remained standing, her face impassive even though her eyes kept glancing towards Marinette. If an akuma appeared, then Violet was going to have to step in, with force if necessary until Ladybug arrived, if she arrived.

"Always try to save people when you can." Major Gilford said as he led Violet through a bazaar. "Sometimes we have to make hard decisions, to sacrifice one life to save many more-"

He paused, and clenched his fist.

"I hope you won't have to make a decision like that one day."

"I didn't mention you, Mr. Blue." Violet said. This time it was Benedict's turn to turn a shade of red. Was there something in the air? How weird, the other patrons weren't turning red. "I was simply explaining the nature of my relationship with Mr. Hodgins."

Each word seemed like they physically punched Benedict, which was impossible. Maybe they shouldn't have eaten here, even though Violet wasn't displaying any of their symptoms.

"Ah, I see." Mr. Hodgin's finally stopped rubbing his neck. "It's nice to see that Violet's making friends."

Yes, Violet would definitely be mentioning this in her report to the Major once school was over. He still hadn't responded, but Violet was sure that he would have new orders for her once he returned from his classified mission.

Lieutenant Colonel Hodgin's said so.

Alya elbowed Marinette in the side, stirring the blue haired girl from her hands.

"Yeah! We love making new briends, I mean friends!" Marinette said. Hm, once they returned to the school Violet would have to inform the nurse and Mrs. Bustier of Marinette's condition. Just in case she was sick, or poisoned.

It wouldn't be the first time Violet saw one of her comrades fall over dead from eating improperly cooked meals, but Violet would do her best to prevent that from happening to a civilian.

"Well, Benedict and I will let you three finish your meal." Mr. Hodgins turned his eyes to the menu and grabbed Mr. Blue by the elbow. "It was nice meeting you two!"

Violet performed a salute as the two went towards the line to order, again gaining the attention of the other patrons. Was that such a weird occurrence here? This would have to be another entry in her notebook full of notes about civilian life, one of the orders the Major had left for her according to Mr. Hodgins.

She was good at following orders, the Major's brothet said so.

"What was that, Marinette?"

Marinette was in the middle of finishing her quiche when Alya spoke up. Giving their blonde companion a glance, whose facial expressions remained the same even as she ate, Marinette turned to her best friend with a sheepish smile on her face.

"I may have accidently ran into him on my way to school." Marinette admitted. "Literally."

"Ouch." Alya took a large bite of her sandwich, chewing as she thought. Violet kept picking at her salad, though she did observe each vegetable before stuffing them in her mouth. "I can see why you would be embarrassed, Paris is a pretty large city."

The stranger she had ran into this morning, who just so happened to be Violet's guardian, only made Marinette feel more embarrassed. Well, at least Adrien wasn't here, his presence would just make things worse.

"Yeah." Marinette turned her head in Violet's direction. "Do you like the food, Violet?"

The beautiful blonde girl moved her head ever so slightly. "It's much tastier than the MRE's that I'm used to eating."

It wasn't a yes, but it was good enough for Marinette!

"I'm glad." Marinette smiled. Violet stared at her emotionlessly in return, stabbing a piece of lettuce with her fork, lifting it up to eye level before eating it.

A silence descended on their table, amidst the bustling cafe. Violet didn't speak much without being spoken to first, and her face never changed or showed any emotion despite Alya's questions. Thankfully, Marinette was able to finish her lunch without an akuma attack disturbing her. That more than made up the slightly awkward company.

Still, it made Marinette wonder, what made Violet turn out this way?

"I have visuals on the hostages."

"Don't engage, the Americans are on their way."

"They won't be here in time! They're getting ready to shoot! We need to move in now."

"Damn, contact Bougainvillea's dog, we can't risk the Americans getting pissed off if one of their people got killed."

Sorry it's been so long since the last update! I got hit with writers block and had been focusing on my other stories where I am inspired to write.

None of my stories are ever canceled! I just work on them slowly until Im struck by inspiration or force myself to type something on the google doc.

Violet is a pretty hard character to write. I want to get her inner voice just right, so it takes longer than usual to write a single chapter compared to Weiss in my other stories.

I hope the wait was worth it!
