Many Updates Ago said:LOGRIS: "You know, you are rather more likely to be an Heir of Yonris than I am, Vesper."
"What do you mean?"
LOGRIS: "You are Bai, are you not?"
"Well, they have to be pretty."
Logris clears her throat.
LOGRIS: "No, I mean a person of the Baihu ethnic group."
LOGRIS' FACE: *And not that other thing.*
I didn't read that as attraction, just admiration.
Somehow, I completely missed that joke after rereading it twice today.I was honestly really hesitant about the Bai/bi pun because sexual identity labels feel kind of anachronistic in Exalted but I didn't get this far into this project by passing up questionable joke ideas.
Look, if it works it works and I'm pretty sure you could put together some kind of Creation compliant reason for our use of bi to pop up there, completely by chance, and in a way that makes a sound alike pun sensible. Exalted has a canon hrt and medical transition for trans people. There are canon trans characters. If the developers aren't bothered by saying hrt exists in forum posts, then you're good.I was honestly really hesitant about the Bai/bi pun because sexual identity labels feel kind of anachronistic in Exalted but I didn't get this far into this project by passing up questionable joke ideas.

Read to me as a desire to snort coke off his abs, but different strokes for different folks.I didn't read that as attraction, just admiration.
However, Vesper does give off bisexual vibes.
Vesper doesn't strike me as the type to be picky about who's abs she snorts coke off of.
I know, and that is what I meant. I don't think there's a problem with your webforum based quest having a bisexuality pun joke when a person who works on the official material directly uses real world terminology, also on a web forum. Even if that isn't in one of books. To be clear there is no issue with bisexuality existing in Exalted. From its inception the franchise has been very queer throughout. There have always been lesbian, gay, bi and trans characters (portrayed with shaky but improving degrees of sensitivity). These things are considered unremarkable in-setting.
The issue is the use of terms of sexual identity. Exalted draws on a (heavily sanitized version of) classical sources for a lot of this stuff: sexual identity as we understand it is a largely unexamined component of identity in-setting.
Characters that we would consider very clearly conforming to a recognizeable sexual identity exist; for example the Sidereal Iron Saika is very obviously a butch lesbian. However, the narrative text does not say Iron Saika is a lesbian, it just says that she exclusively prefers women sexually.
I wouldn't describe a character as bisexual in an Exalted publication for the same reason I wouldn't describe a character as white; these kinds of sexual and racial identities are relatively modern social constructs that don't exist in the premodern pastiche of the Exalted world. This is not to say that characters that we would call bisexual or white do not exist in the world of Exalted. They do. That's fine. It's just a matter of consistent presentation.
Anyway I disregarded this entirely because I wanted to make a funny. Such is life.
